recently i bricked my phone and it's in edl mode which I had posted here also where people told me to go to service center and do edl flashing but but will they ask money ig they can't because my phone is under warranty and its just 2 months old so any ideas that they'll ask for money
When you get there, just act like you don't know what happened. Tell them that it turned off during a system update and it's not turning on, and keep all that power user XDA knowledge locked away somewhere
Software update failures are pretty common so they won't ask many questions as long as the phone's under warranty, you might be charged a small service fee though. This is just one way I would go about it, there might be better options.

Sad to hear that but I guess u should try all available options before heading to the Service center like flashing stock firmware using Miflash tool in EDL mode. If nothing works then service center is the last resort, however IMO they will ask for small amount of fee for restoring the stock firmware.

It’s all good if it ends all well. However, I am more pleased with your second post. Tinkering Smartphone always seems too easy until it get completely screwed as it was in your case.
And speaking of Staff at service centre, they are just doing their job (though some of them do try to fool the customer seek some monetary benefits indirectly), not all of them are passionate about tech as u or people like us on XDA are. Anyways enough lecturing......
Good luck & Happy Flashing!!!!!

Hello,
I have been using this phone for the past 3 months and I haven't had any problems. I recently upgraded to version 2.3.5 and everything was ok with noticeable improvements to battery backup also.
The problem started yesterday when the phone restarted twice on its own and I thought there must be a problem with some running processes and I decided to switch off and on the phone. After switching off, I haven't been able to turn on the phone back again. There is no display when I press the power key, and initially it used to vibrate briefly when I power ON and now it has stopped doing that also.
I have tried different recovery methods from the internet by removing the battery, sim and memory card and even trying to get into recovery mode. The phone seems to be completely dead now with the key back lights illuminating when connected to the charger being the only response in the phone.
Please help me in identifying the problem and recovering the phone.
Have you rooted your phone ?
Rooted and installed ClockworkMod ROM manager
Yes, I have rooted the phone and this problem started after installing ClockworkMod ROM manager. I have currently given the phone for service.
Since the phone is currently not powering ON, can the service personnel find out if I have rooted the phone thereby making the warranty void? If the warranty is void what options do I have?
Mostly they will not notice ..... Have they got back to you ?
The reason why it crashed is because no one has made a CWM Recovery for the XT530 ... .. This phone really has poor development support its soo sad ...

Plz tell what can be done??
Motherboard replacement for dead motorola fire xt
Motorola service hasn't been able to flash the device with proper firmware and now they have decided to change the motherboard. They say it will take a few more days to get the motherboard possibly from their office from Bangalore. Keeping my fingers crossed till I get back the phone and hopefully there aren't any new problems with the new motherboard.

if your phone is within its warranty period, you can take it over to the nearest service centre for motorola. You can find the details for the service centres across India from their website. Do not mention that you have rooted the phone and tried installing cynogenmod.

I am still waiting for the service center to replace the motherboard and I hope to get it this week.
Since the phone is completely dead, they haven't been able to establish a connection via USB and hence they haven't found out that the phone was rooted earlier.
Yeah....my phone is fine now and it is working. I sent the phone to motorola service center to repair it. First they changed the motherboard but still the phone did not work. i sent the phone again and then they said that the battery had been locked and then they unlocked the battery and my phone got working!!......

Great to hear that you have got your phone back in working condition. Mine is still in the service center and they say it will take a few more days to get the replacement motherboard. I do have the following questions regarding your serviced phone.
- What do you mean by "battery has been locked"? What happens and how to detect the same.
- Did you get your replacement motherboard with the updated 2.3.5 software?

Mine is still with Motorola service center and it has taken them more than 2 weeks to get the motherboard replaced. I still get the response from them that they are waiting for the motherboard shipment from Delhi. How was your experience with the service center?

That is really really bad service from Motorola. What reasons were they giving you for the delay over a period of a month? It has already been frustrating without the phone for the last 2 weeks and thinking of waiting for few more weeks and not days is making me literally mad ...
Is there anyway we can escalate the issue to get a better and faster response from them?

Its really very difficult to contact the service center over the phone as they rarely answer calls. I have now tried registering a complaint with Motorola customer care in order to escalate the issue. The problem is they are very vague about the time it would take to get the phone serviced. In this day and age if you cannot give a definitive commitment then it is very difficult to sustain.

Got back the phone but GPS not working
I finally got back my phone from the service center and have upgraded to version 2.3.5. I have restored all my settings and applications and everything seems to be fine except for GPS.
GPS does not work now and it does not detect any satellites. I have tried various GPS specific applications and also tried some SW fixes and still there is no improvement. I think there is no other alternative other than to take it back to the Motorola service center to get this problem fixed. The GPS was working fine before they replaced the motherboard. Is there any HW fix possible for the GPS radio?
My phone is still in service center now from past 12 days ..
Hey guy today I was planning on updating my gio to ics via galaxyics.com but before I did that I tried to backup my rom via rom manager and it went all wrong. After I hit the OK button my phone turned off and would not turn on via power button or charging (even removed the battery for 15minutes) I can't get it on at all. So if my knowledge is correct is this not hard bricking and how could I fix it. I no it won't be easy but what if I flashed my phones internal memory somehow and reloaded android to it. Would that work? Other options please help. If nothing works btw how much do you think i could get for it on eBay or something (maybe as parts)?
Take it to service center, they will fix it for free as long as you say you didn't root it. Sorry man, but this is the same hard brick i got a couple of months ago

If you own a Gio, don't install ROM Manager on it - you have a better chance bricking your phone than doing anything useful with it.

Last time i used rom manager nothing worked, downloadmode, recovery, booting. Give up this thing needs to be repaired there is nothing you can do.

Alpacino: they would in all likelihood change the motherboard.
If you're in the Montreal area there is an authorized Samsung service centre near the 40 and Cavendish, it's called Service Absolut. I would suggest you take your phone there. You might even be able to wait while they repair it.
As per my experience and this thread you will need some proof of purchase though to get warranty service.
Good luck,

Unfortunately I'm about 12 hours from Quebec but on the up side I found full schematics for tthe phone last night. Now I am curious to why you say the mother board as I assumed the boot pprocedures where stored on the internal memory of the phone hence why they got damaged not in the bios of the motherboard. How much you think a new board will run me?
Nothing with a bit of luck

The thread I linked to also has a Samsung phone number worth trying to get a shipping label for the service center (be it the one in Montreal or another, they have a few). And they shouldn't really care who your carrier is as long as you have a proof of purchase (even something with the original seller's name on it and note of some sort might work).

try getting into fastboot..
or try connecting it to the pc n install the toolkit n then use the option 16
OK you can try to install the qualcomm drivers as the phone must be in download mode. That`s why its recognising it.
Then I think you need to flash a hex image or something.
Take a look:

Maybe one of the kind members here (a regular) may let you send it to them in the states and you could RMA it from there?

Not sure what should i do
What rom did you flash?
Seroiusly mate. IMHO if you don`t have the qualcomm hex images (or whatever they are) or a means of JTAGing your phone, then only option is to send it to someone in the US who can RMA it. For the cost of postage and maybe a beer for the kind person, they could do it for you.
Assuming you ordered it from your Google account when you was in the US...
1) Find someone trustworthy in US
2) Ask if you can send your Nexus 4 to them
3) They RMA it using your account details
4) They send the new device to you in Europe when google drop it off.
Everyones happy.

as i seem to recall, even an unlocked bootloader wont give u access to boatloader partition and other important partitions..
which makes it still recoverable..
if u ask me, get a different pc with windows vista/7 *not windows 8*, download the nexus drivers from xda and install and then try flashing via fastboot..
and if i seem to recall, the installation scripts in the rom.zip dont format partitions numbers but use tags such as system or data which is predefined so you cant flash system in bootloader by mistake..
ofcourse, i can be wrong
Can't go in fastboot mode, that's the problem
I think the only option is to send it to a JTAG service, if sending to google aint possible. I remember reading it was around 60 USD to revive a nexus 4.
maybe its the charge?
leave it for charging for 30 min-ish
then try fastboot
or try holding power for 20 second-ish to make sure the phone's restarted
as in, maybe its semi-booted
Charging doesn't work, will need a JTAG service or ask LG support
Just noticed this on W8

I know it may take a while, but it`s a means to an end. A bricked Nexus 4 is no good to anyone, unless you want to sell it for a pittance for parts...
Personally I wouldn`t care if it took weeks. You would be getting a brand new phone eventually.

DOOOO ITTTTTTTTT !!!!
On a serious note, i bricked my nexus somehow a while back and these guys were able to fix my phone , they are very trustworthy.
BTW they do have international shipping too
EDIT: just checked , its 105 dollars in total for a repair, you have a couple choices: you can sell your phone for pieces (there is high demand for screens since everyone is cracking theirs, and as you know it doesnt work after being cracked), you can find someone local to repair, and your last choice is to just take the bullet and pay 105 dollars (+ shipping from your area to them) to send and repair your phone.
I'm sure there's another way to fix it bro.. It can't be that hard. Just search around

Yeah, don't remind me.... (been there, done that)
But on a related note, sounds like a JTAG is definitely in order. If you're comfortable learning how to use a JTAG yourself, I believe they're about $150-200. You can fix your phone, and keep the JTAG to start fixing other phones in your spare time. After a few repairs, it would pay for itself! I've often considered going this route. Something I've thought of doing is buying bricked phones for cheap, fix them with a JTAG, and resell them for profit. Could be a fun little business and you'd learn a lot about several different devices. Look up the RIFF Box or Medusa Box - definitely do some research first, if you decide to go through with this. Just a suggestion at the very least...
I was trying to install the 118 chinise firmware and left the phone unatended for 10 min or so, when i came back the phone refused to boot. I could not acess recovery (vol + vol- power)... So i guess this is a hard brick, is there anything i can do short of sending it back to the service center.
As mentioned every where on the forum, the B118 chinese firmware has great chance of bricking the device. If bricked you have no choice except to take it to service.

I still wonder why this happens. I had absolutely no problems when going from B122 to B118 via soft update.
I had the same problem. I sent it to service. After a month of delaying i called them to see if it is ready and if they forgot me. They said me that they could not fix it and they sent it at China. Now i don't know how much will i have to wait. Maybe another one month. It drives me crazy that they are so slow.

You have to get use to that situation cause it's normal and repairs won't help too long For now every ROM for HOV supports sweep2wake and tap2wake additionally, Igonrance have that amazing Lidroid panel with reboot and shutdown action or you can install some apps for such actions
Yeah I've been using Those amazing features until now , but yesterday my battery died.. and i had a really tough time powering my HOV on, and it seems kinda useless to have a powerbutton and not use it..So i was wondering, will the Service Center recognize if I relock my bootloader and flash Ruu again and give it for repairs?

I haven't tried it but some users in different internet communities say that service centers repair their phones under warranty if hardware (not software) is the fault reason. Even if it has been unlocked or rooted. Of course it might depend on country or even on the service center guy mood.
So I guess you may try flashing the appropriate RUU (to restore the stock software as possible) and asking service center to replace the faulty button. And you may ask if this will cost you in advance. =)
Edit: and could you please share your experience if you will try.

Edit: I got it repaired from HTC, although the service guy was a fool, he just repaired the phone and gave it back, didn't even check bootloader or anything, feels good to have my power button back
