To anybody that can help me,
I recently bought a refurbished Note 5 sm-n920a. I figured it's an unlocked AT&T phone and I bought it in the middle east. the problem I have is that the back cover of my phone cracked so I went to repair it. When I was at the repair shop the technician also showed me the battery which looked totally worn out and probably dangerous to continue using. The technician offered to change the battery. He changed the battery and changed the back cover. My main concern was the back cover so when he fixed the back cover I inspected it top to bottom side to side just to see if the cover was installed properly. I took a glimpse at my screen to see if it was on and immediately put the phone in my pocket and left the shop. It was late, every shop was closed by the time I actually took my phone out of my pocket and tried calling it was too late.
My Problem;
I cannot unlock my phone. It will show me the main screen where I would either use my fingerprint or password to unlock. When I restart my phone it usually forces me to put in my password, this time it didn't and says try again in 1,312,081 minutes. It does not give me an option to sign in google account. I tried clearing cache from recovery mode which didn't solve anything.
The date and time also changed to January 1st, 2015. I'm assuming maybe this also has something to do with it. I cannot change the time unless I have access to the phone. I tried changing the time and date from my Samsung gear but to no avail.
P.S I have everything backed up online so I'm not worried about losing any information. I just won't be able to recover what I need because I am in Iraq. The internet is so bad it will take more than 1,312,081 minutes to redownload what I urgently need.
Please help!!!
Thank You,
Noor

My Dash recently got wet (it was my 21st birthday), and now I have some (major) issues.
For a while it wouldn't turn on, at all. Then, after taking everything out (battery and sim card) and letting it sit for a few days, then recharging the batteries, my Dash turns on as soon as I put the battery in (rather than waiting for me to push the on/off button).
Then all my alarms from the past 2 weeks start to go off. As soon as I push ANY button, the Dash shuts down. End of story.
Is my beloved Dash completely FUBAR?
Thanks in advance,
David
Magic 8 Ball says: Signs point to yes
My opinion.
Remove the battery from it for 3 days.
Open it up (the phone)
Air dry the whole phone for the same amount of days.
proceed to assemble the phone back, insert the battery back.
Clear Storage command and hopefully it will set everything back to normal.
Cross your fingers.
Most likely its dead if that is happening. Probably fried some of the circuits on the board. If it is still under warrenty, you can try calling customer service and just tell them it stopped working. Don't offer up any information as to the cause.. This worked when i broke my screen.
"Customer service? Yes. My screen no longer works... Ok, we will replace it"
However, you may get dinged with a replacement fee of $100 (t-mobile) if they find that it was not the fault of the actual hardware. However, this is usually far cheaper then buying the phone again.
Interesting tho, my dash survived being fully emursed in a bucket of water. Never turned off, and still have never had any further issues. I still laff at it, i wish I coulda seen my face as I watched it sink to the bottom.
I would just call customer service and see what they say from there.
If you tell customer service what actually happened, you will have to buy a new phone. That is something I know they won't cover. Be vague and unsure of why its doing what it is doing and most likely you will be taken care of.
Thanks guys. I'll let you know how this goes (crossing fingers... but not expecting much)
So I dropped my Desire in the toilet while I was drunk the other week, quickly grabbed it out, took the battery out and took it to a repair shop the next morning. He said it would be a minimum 3 days before he could look at it because he said it has to dry out first.
Im guessing he had it in the chemicals for water damage, I dont know and I didnt have to pay. So he rang me 5 days later, said its up and running but it freezes a bit, wanted to let it 'rest' for another day and then I could come in and play with it to see if i was happy with it.
I couldnt come in on the 6th day, but came in on the 7th day and he basically told me the phone didnt make it, it had died and he was glad I didnt come in the day before. Asked if I wanted it back. I said yes because its still under contract. So he told me it would take 15 mins for him to put it all back together. So I had to wait. He returned, put it on the counter the walked off again.
I didnt realise this till later on but there was a little chip that was not there anymore on the front of the handset. I pulled the battery out and it was a bit bulgy and its water sticker was pink. I then compared the phones IMEI to my original box. Different IMEI. I then pulled the handset appart, the liquid stickers inside the handset were all white. So I pulled the charger out, put the dodgy battery in and turned it on.
It bootloops the HTC screen and its very breifly displayed. Like less than a second before it restarts. If I turn it off, the orange LED comes on as if its charging but it never charges. If I pull the battery out with it connected, I get the orange/green led combo. It will load the boot loader screen and can comunicate to the PC, I have tried running the 2.3 update off the HTC Dev site on it again, it successfully loads, but still has the same outcome
Has the phone repair shop done a dodgy on me, with my handset, fixing it, and giving me a stuffed one or is it an honest mistake.
Also if I put a brand new battery in this phone will it work? And should I ring this place up on Monday and ask them what the go is?
I might also add I just got the Sensation, so i'm not too concerned if it never works again.
Dude... If they gave you a different phone, of course you should ring them up and ask them to give you YOUR original phone. It sounds like they scammed you.
... this is a blatant con, they must take you for a retard or something. Go get your phone back before they sell it on.

You have obviously been given a different device. This can be a mistake however. Go back to the store and check with them what's happened.
yeah, i thought this would be the case, just didnt know if there was any phone shop owners that might say otherwise, and that its a mistake. oh well, guess ill call them tomorrow and ask them what the go is.
Hello
I just purchased a GSM Galaxy Nexus From Google last monday. Got it on wednesday the first thing i did was put a screen Protector on it before booting the phone up.(ArmorSuit MilitaryShield) The phone work great on Thursday no issues what so ever. Then i Friday i went to the gym. Kept the thing in my pocket and wiped my hands before touching anything on the phone. (Waiting for otterbox to arrive)
I as soon as i get out i notice Condensation in the front camera. I soon as i received a text my phone hung up and reboot itself. After loading again to the home screen it hung up again as soon as text pop up again. I after 8 tries i final was frustrated. Took the SIM card out and swipe to the right with my finger to try to see if i could unlock it to the home screen.
I was finally able to get into the phone and turn on airplane mode before it hung up again. After i did that i Sut down phone and put the SIM card back in. Repeated the the same steps. As i turn airplane mode off the phone hung up again! (Seems everyone in the mother had to text me at that moment) I was able to make two phone call's before it lock up, but i couldn't hear them and they couldn't hear me. Called 611 then i was able to hear at&t computer but sound like the speaker was dieing. Then the phone lock up and reboot itself.
So i go into the boot loader. The phone was functioning perfected in the boot loader. Play with it for about 10mins. No hangs up. I found that weird. So i reboot the phone was able to get myself into the Factory reset. After that i did a hard factory reset.
So i call Google and they sent me over to Samsung. Samsung wants to do a replacement. I don't mind doing that i just don't like the fact they need a CC number just in case they have to Charge if the phone was abuseded which it wasn't. Baby the hell out of it. They asking me if the phone came into any touch with liquid. The the only thing i could think of was the solution the screen Protector Company sent. I didn't spray the solution directly on the phone but the direction told me to spray couple of sprays on the side of the SP that was going on the screen. (2 Sprays).
The Samsung rep told me the systoms don't sound like water damage. So after getting off the phone (About 1 hr) i notice the condensation was disappearing from the lens. So i took a quick blow dryer to it for about 30 secs. Turn the phone back on and everything been rock solid (Expect for wifi cutting in and out for some reason) for about 2 days.
So tomorrow Samsung fiance department will be calling me for my CC info. My question do you think i should send it in ? Do you think they will find water damage? Was this water damage ? Does the GSM galaxy nexus have Water Sticker ? I'm not able to find one. (Every where i googled no one had a direct answer)
I'm not trying to rip Samsung off i just don't want this to happen down the road again. If it was water damage ill just deal with it i guess.
I wonder if i don't open the new phone tey send me and just use my old 3gs in till i hear back from them... will i be able to send the Replacement phone back if it was water damage ? Just pay the shipping costs? First time dealing with something like this
What do you think i should do ?
Thank you for any input.
Sorry for the wall of text.
Just Notice i posted this in the wrong section My bad ill ask for mod to move it.
Look at the water contact indicator under the battery and see if it is red. A wet apply screen protector should not have caused this, but be careful to not let water get in the speaker and crevices when applying. In the future if your phone does come in contact with water or condensation remove the battery and sim Immediately and place in dry rice for 24 hours, do not try to power it on. Many others are reporting wifi instability, check the threads for solutions.

Do you think Samsung will find anything ? Sorry for all the questions. The lens on the front camera was white. Is there stickers inside the phone where the CPU is
I heard there was like 3 water indicators in the phone.
That I couldn't tell you, I've never taken the phone apart so I would only be guessing. You might could find out by looking for a "tear down" of the phone, there should be several online if you do a Google search. Is the phone continuing to function well for you? Besides the wifi?
Yeah its been running great. Just got off the phone with Samsung. I think i just keep this phone. I don't want to pay for repair cost's. If the phone dies in month then i guess it was water damage. I hope there's no corrosion on PCB. I would love to take it apart but i don't want to void the warranty to check. Is there warranty Sticker in there ?
The wifi thing might be my fault. My laptop does that sometimes too. I'm just freaking out. I love the phone. I don't want it too die. Just ran a CPU stability test for about 15mins. No errors the battery was at 42c temp. Went ahead and sut the phone down. Going to wait 15 mins then turn it back on.
Hey gang. Been getting the "Sim Card Removed" error for the last several weeks. On my "to do" list was to Odin back to stock and do a warranty exchange.
Last night while out grocery shopping I had three of the errors in a row. The third reboot, after the S4 splash screen, the phone just went dark.
I had to pull and reinsert the battery to reboot again.... same thing. I tried repeatedly.
Trying to get into recovery I get the "rainbow text" at top left over the S4 Splash, but it disappears as well.
Trying to get into Download, it'll flip to Download mode, but faster than I can hit Vol-up to "confirm" the screen goes out again.
Nothing I can do will make it stay on for longer than about 2 seconds.
STILL need to send it back for Warranty repair... in this state you think they will be able to tell it's rooted? Or... ?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry to ask, but is the battery charged?
Yep! Even if I plug it in; no charging graphic or anything.
Anyway, chatted w/ Samsung customer service. I have it in a box next to me, about to go to their repair dept. Hopefully they'll repair it under warranty since it's been less than a year. Wasn't able to Odin-to-unroot... but I'm on a stock ROM otherwise. Hoping they'll have to swap out enough stuff that they won't notice.
Repair place called. I discussed the issue with them. They need to evaluate the phone and will call back, but the cracked glass will be $160 by itself because they say they have to replace the digitizer too. :squint:
Hopefully everything else will be g2g under warranty. *sigh*
did you get this fix without a screen replacement?
I was away from home without a charger, and someone had a micro-usb to usb-c adapter so I plugged it into my pixel 2xl. it smelled a bit like burnt plastic after a minute and i noticed the battery level had actually dropped, so i turned it off until i got home. my charging port was dead, phone wouldn't power on.
i ended up taking it to a repair shop where they agreed with the diagnosis, and they quoted me on the repair. then they noticed that i had a hairline fracture through the glass and they said it would almost certainly break the glass during repairs so that would need to be replaced too. the price was more than the cost of a used pixel on ebay so i started asking about simply getting the data off the phone, if they had a display and port they could just plug up without fulling installing. then he gave me a discount on the repair since changing the charging port and the screen was basically all the same labor, and i decided to just go that route.
they had my phone for a week waiting on parts and i was out of town, and i was using an older phone during that time. I got my phone back and my passcode is incorrect. i thought maybe using the temp phone (only 4 digit pin instead of my old 8 digit) had messed with my muscle memory or something, but i wrote out each passcode i had ever used on a paper and checked each of them off. with my sim card in the phone i can receive phone calls, but if i login to my-devices on google, it says it cannot contact my phone and hasn't been in contact since the day i fried the charging port. it was never logged out of my google account. now, is it possible the tech bypassed my lockscreen? i purposely never gave them my passcode, i had several cryptocurrency wallets on my phone. could he have gotten into my phone and logged the google account out? i've seen these pay-for apps, PhoneRescue, iMobie, PhoneCope etc.. any of them worth paying to try?
TL;DR - is it possible a phone tech broke into my phone? is there any way i can remove my passcode or at least recover my data?
also: it is now up to 60 seconds between attempts.. will this continue to rise?
update: haha ok being paranoid, restored my wallets to another phone with backup keys and they are untouched. this is just bizarro world and i forgot my passcode in the span of a week
I called google and they said there is nothing to be done short of remembering the passcode.
However, the tech told me the timeout is 30 seconds between guesses and it only jumped up to 60 seconds because I tried too many times but it should return to 30 if I let it cool off.
I just tried it again and now it is at 120 seconds? Does anyone know how long I have to let it 'cool-off' or is this going to just keep doubling till I can never try a passcode again?
From what you are describing I am not sure you have the correct phone back. Do you have a record of the serial number or IMEI number?
honestly, i thought about that but then I was also paranoid that the tech's broke into my phone too haha
I have my definite imei, how can i check the imei on this phone if i can't get through the passcode though?
The IMEI can be accessed in the bootloader, under the Barcode option. It may also be printed on the SIM card tray.
damn. same imei. so either the passcode somehow was changed when the adapter fried the port and drained it, which i'm assuming is impossible, or what definitely happened is i managed to forget the passcode? which is all the more infuriating.
google said it's impossible to get into the phone, but he also told me that the timeout between attempts would go back down after a cool-down period, but 2 days have passed and i'm still on 2 minutes.
hopefully he's wrong on both counts, if anyone has any long shot ideas in bypassing the passcode, some pay-service i could send my phone off to, or anything else, i'd try anything.
also, if i restart my phone in-between attempts instead of waiting the 2minutes, do i risk a false-negative? because i can restart my phone much faster than waiting 2 minutes.
