[Q] Tmobile plan due but still have data? - LG Optimus G Pro

So how about my T-Mobile plan is up. I have to pay to make calls and send texts, yet I still have data. I saw that my plan was changed out of nowhere (unauthorized by me which I am the only one with access to the account). Anyone know why this might be? Seems odd lol.

It won't last long.. I've seen it happen before .. They will stop it soon

[Q] tzone dead today...?

woke up today and tried checking the weather...couldnt get a connection. Then used opera and it said i needed a subscription upgrade. Is this the end of the 5.99 tzone? Im running the energy rom and had no problem until this morning. I really hope its a data/network hiccup and resume back to the way it was...soon!
I also tried using wap.voicestream.com and epc.tmobile.com with no luck.

The $5.99 plan is not for smartphones. You'll need the normal data plan for the TP2. It normally connects through internet2.voicestream.com or internet3.voicestream.com. wap.voicestream.com is used for MMS.
I'm getting the same subscription upgrade required message. I have been using the $5.99 data plan for about three years on my smartphone just fine until today. Like the OP, I tried all available APN settings to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions?

Look up one post. I just provided the answer. It doesn't matter how long you've been using it. T-Mobile is changing the data access policies. You can no longer connect to the Internet on your TP2 with the $5.99 plan. You need to either use a non-smartphone device, or upgrade your plan. There is no way around it.

You are lucky that is all you are receiving. Their normal mode is to charge $1.99 per megabyte of download.

I talked to T-Mobile Blackberry/PDA Support or Tier 2/3 to some others. Most of us remember about this time last year they doing something similar to what they did Tuesday. Talking to TMBS, earlier in the day they were killing T-Mobile Web aka Unlimited T-Zones to Smartphones. I talked to another guy this evening that said the same thing with one caveat...which I asked what about those of us who have grandfathered data plans?
He looked over our account codes...whatever that means and he made the observation that the instructions for our SIM cards were erased in regards to our data plan which he said he put the instructions back. I was on the horn with him at the same time our internet came back up through no editing of our network connections, so I have no idea what to think.
I don't know if what was done today was a prelude to the introduction of Windows Phone 7 devices starting next month. I'm told T-Mobile will introduce 3 Windows Phone 7 devices for the upcoming holiday season - HTC Mozart aka HD3/7...take your pick, a LG and Samsung variation. Assuming they don't toy with our internet plans as they currently are I have to believe it will be a repeat of the Touch Pro 2 and HD2 Leo. You buy the device retail you can stay on T-Mobile Web.
All that said, I couldn't tell you whether it's all script or the truth.

[Q] Tmo prepaid won't connect to Google servers

Hi folks,
New here, did a search but couldn't find anything, apologize if this is a duplicate
I got the S2 two days ago at the T-mobile store unlocked and put it on the $60 prepaid plan and i'm wondering if anyone is having the same problem
basically any service having to do with Google refuses to work - can't add gmail account, can't use the market, navigation, etc... they all give out a generic no connection error. The only thing that works is the browser.
This is only over the data network, regardless of signal strength or whether it's on edge or 4g - never works. Over wifi though? everything works perfectly, i can add my google account and all that, but as soon as i go back to data everything stops connecting/syncing.
Talked to countless phone reps, went through countless reboot sequences to no avail.
I finally talked to one clerk at a store who sounded like he knew what he was talking about, said it was a problem with the prepaid plans (he had an S2 on contract which worked fine). That they had the same issue with some blackberries a while back and i just had to wait for Tmo to fix it on their end.
So i just wanted to know if anyone is in the same boat or maybe can shed some light on when tmobile might fix this? I really don't want to return the phone but only have two weeks to wait for a solution
It looks like this issue was happening with people on the NEW $30 a month plan from Walmart/T-Mobile. The issue was with connecting to any SSL (HTTPS) site and downloading apps from google, android marketplace, etc.
It appears to have been fixed as of a few minutes ago...
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/9349?start=0&tstart=0
I've read this is on tmonews.com.It seems(or seemed,if fixed) that all the prepaid plans were prevented.Even the new $60 and $70 prepaid plans.

the prepaid plans are so crippled it's hard to tell what's supposed to be broken and what isn't.
i was able to download something off the market for the first time today while at work, but a little while later it was back to not working - maybe 1 in 10 attempts to open the market will load
really hoping it's just launch issues or a busted tower somewhere, this is my first smartphone and has so far been a super disappointing experience :[
if anyone was having this same issue, everything started working late thursday/early friday of last week

nyc - no data - calls & texts work

Lost data connectivity last night at around 9pm. I can get calls and texts no problem, but data is totally gone.
Been on the phone with customer service 3x, into a store one time. No idea why this is happening. The other phones in the tmobile store work (reverted to a stock, unrooted 2.3.5 backup i had before bringing it in).
Anyone else having issues or is it just me? Wondering if i should push for warrenty repair or wait and see if the issue corrects itself.
thanks
Which data plan do you have? I had this problem on my Nexus One but mine was due to having an old grandfathered data plan. I got customer service to update it to an official plan, but still retain my grandfathered pricing.

Yup. Went to the store today and told them the issue, they gave me an in-store exchange.
I was praying the entire time Say what you want but I didnt think they would just give me a new phone, especially since im on a prepaid contract.

VZW SMS service unreliable.

So a few weeks ago I have to call VZW because others were not receiving the majority of the SMS and mms messages I sent. A day later they called and said it had been fixed and it shown happen again. Well now its about two weeks later and its happening again. I really don't feel like being on the phone for hours again repeating the same thing over and over. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do? I really am tempted to just switch carriers even if I lose unlimited data. I feel like the ETF should be waived since I'm not receiving the service I should be.

I have the opposite experience...
I have a Femtocell here at the house and when ever I send a text while I'm at home it actually gets sent two or three times. Annoying. I'm just grateful I haven't texted anyone by mistake with NSFW comments.
maybe try using google voice for a while? it uses data to send texts and since you have unlimited data you should give it a go until verizon fixes things and make sure to call them to get credit for that too
Did you try getting a new SIM? Does it only occur in a single area? Have you tried different phones/ROMS/kernels/radios?

It occurs everywhere I go haven't been able to pinpoint a single area. I was 50 miles from home last time it happened and they "fixed" it but it still happens here and at home. Haven't tried a new SIM cause I figured that would be the next step. I don't have another LTE phone to try and if I go back to my Fascinate my unlimited data plan will be removed from my account. It initially happened on Liquid 1.3 but before I called them I went back to complete stock 4.0.2 and radios and it was happening multiple times as I was talking to her on the phone.
Good luck getting out of your ETF after one tech support call.

Verizon is so bad I'm almost willing to pay to get away from them. If I call them again and they "fix" it again and I continue to have the issue, I will do my best to make sure that the ETF is waived since I'm not receiving the service I signed up for under contract. I have very little time to be on the phone with these people for hours at a time and this texting issue isn't something that I can just act like it's not a big deal.

I love VZW, I guess it all depends on where you live. I had a similar horrible experience with At&t (who I hate): long story short, I received multiples of every text for months. Not just a few, but 20-100 of every text, and I couldn't send/receive any others while it was happening. I spent 20+ hours on the phone with them and went through 3 sim cards before I left their lame asses for VZW and never looked back. They did wave my ETF, but it was very well documented over a looooong period of time I was having the issues and everything I/we tried to make it work. I swear thats the short story lol. I seriously doubt they would have waved it had I just defaulted the contract after the first call. But I agree with you, its worth paying the ETF to get the service you need! I am just surprised you are having problems with VZW since all my friends and I LOVE them - they are the ONLY carrier to have reception/data everywhere in north Alabama.

Same here except that I had the bad experiences with Sprint and came to VZW.
IMHO I think most of the network problems right now are due to upgrades. Seems like wherever they are rolling out LTE there are problems during the process.
Moral of the story is that for any 2 random carriers X and Y, you'll always be able to find someone who's pissed off at X and moved to Y, then someone who had a bad experience at Y and moved to X. There are so many variables you really can't paint two situations the same.

I would agree with the upgrade statement, I was told they were upgrading several towers in my area. However, it certainly wasn't to LTE. At&t has mostly Edge data in my area and the towers were being upgraded to 3G - or so I was told.

Are you running 4.0.4 and are you also having trouble receiving texts / you receive multiple text messages all at once? That would be a 4.0.4 issue, as well as sometimes missing calls from people / getting voicemails with no indication of an actual call. Going back to 4.0.3 unfortunately fixed these issues for me.

This is true. But I think in any given geographical area there is a clear "better" carrier. At least I know there is a clear winner in my area, and I was one of the last of my group of friends to switch - I was holding out on the GSM networks to step their game up, but they failed to.
i was having MMS issues here. The issue was fixed when I manually entered the APN configuration (im using Go SMS which allows you to change these in Settings > MMS Settings > APN Configuration).
For verizon, just add "H T T P : / /mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms" to MMSC setting.

T-Mobile ISSUES. NO 4G Data! Can I cancel contract?

Okay so here's the story. I've been with T-Mobile for about a year and a half. Always had great service and reception at my home. Before I used to average a ping of 80-90ms with 25MB Down and 4MB Up.
About 10-12 days ago something happened with some of the towers in my area. Data connection went from perfect above to 1200ms pings now with 0.30MB down and never ANY upload.
This only happens when I'm in the area surrounding my home. If I leave my town my coverage starts to come back data wise. At home I am able to make calls and send texts. However I'm not able to send any picture messages as I have zero upload they just don't send.
T-Mobile is doing NOTHING except telling me they need 72 hours after another 72 hours after another 72 hours to wait for their engineers. I need my data and I'm not being told when this will be fixed. Based upon all of this can I cancel my contract and leave T-Mobile without paying ANY fees due to the fact I can't even get the promised services at my home address?
Any help is appreciated.
T-Mobile Galaxy S3 - Rooted - Stock Rom
They prolly won't budge that easily.
Wait it out, ask for a discount or something added to your bills for a month or so.
Your imei intact?
You won't be able to get out your contract without any fees for having no data. You are not promised anything. Tmobile covers this excuse in your contract by saying "coverage not available in all areas" and you should have known this before you signed your contract. They also state that data speeds will vary based on a number of resason.
Good Luck- hopefully they fix it for you.

IMEI is there. I can see it in the menus.
As far as no data that's one thing. But if I can't even send text/multimedia messages that's a pretty big issues as well. If they want to be pricks about it I'll just change my address to a family farm out in BUFU where there is no reception and then they can't hold me to the contract either way.
Has anyone ever heard of not having data for a month though? I wish there was a T-Mobile engineer on here who could comment on **** like this. So frustrating. They waived my $30 data charge for the month but it's not even about that. I don't care if it's free doesn't matter if it's not there period. If it's not resolved within another week I'm heading over to Sprint. They have WiMax in my area now and LTE will pop up way before T-Mobile ever gets it.
Replace your device three times and then by law they are required to let you go out of contract without oaying early termination fee.

I would call customer service and request/demand a refund for any days in which you did not have downloadable service on your phone. They can probably pro-rate the service days. Be nice but firm and ask for a supervisor if the person who answers does not solve the problem. Heck....you may end up getting a free month for your trouble at the end!

As I said they gave me my data free for a month. $30 credit to my account. Doesn't change the fact I have two lines without data right now and I still have a $100+ bill due. I don't mind paying I just want the services.
I'll give them one more week. It will then have been 21 days with no connection and no ability to send e-mails/multimedia messages.
They honestly don't care that much. If the coverage map says you have service, then to them you have service. I was stuck in this situation for three months. They will *maybe* send you a free network extender but like someone else posted, they make no promises and honestly don't really care if you have data or not.

Well they have one week. If they don't fix the situation I'll close my account. If they refuse to credit me for the contract I'll change my address to a farm my family has where there is NO cell phone coverage. Then they have no choice but to let me out seeing as the registered address has ZERO service.
Either way I'll have my data back on T-Mobile or I'll switch to Sprint/ATT/Verizon.

I don't get why you think it is that easy to get out of your contract? When I changed my address with T-Mobile I had to provide mail addressed to me from the address for at least two months prior. If it was that easy people would be buying phones on contract left and right and changing their address to get out ETF free.

I had an issue like this when the Danger servers went down due to Microsoft buying them out (for the old sidekicks). I (and all the other sidekick users) went 3 months without any service except calls and basic txt. Tmo did nothing for me or any of the other sidekick users except give out a 30 dollar gift card for the "inconvenience"
Changing your address doesn't change who you are, they can still collect and tank your credit.
Anyways you confuse me. You said no data for a month then later said next week will be 21 days.... And you already got a refund for a whole month. Diplomacy and being polite go pretty far with CSRs.
Okay so far as of 2AM my data has been back and fantastic. I pray it holds up and it's not a temporary thing. Right now I can't complain.

Hey man two weeks without data is a long time. That was two weeks without mobile e-mail, ability to send multimedia messages, no Facebook, Pandora, etc...
When you pay a company $150 a month for two lines you expect the services to work. When T-Mobile told me it would be resolved in 72 hours 5 times that got pretty annoying.
All in all glad it's working now. I'll take the month waived data. Hope it never happens again.
