I don't know if it's a dk28 thing or my rom but roam control screwed my phone so bad. I had to do a restore. Even reflashing the rom wouldn't fix it.

I've never had a problem and I've used it on every kernel released or leaked. Did you select your phone model in the options tab of the app? Otherwise I don't know why out screwed your phone up. Right now I'm on viper 3.0.3 and it works flawlessly. I use it allllllll the time too.

Works great on DK28.. even with a modified PRL for VZW 3G roaming makes it better. Sprint 3G sucks in my area, I'm lucky to get 70-80 kilobits. Most of the time its 20 or so.

I read in another thread that using this a lot will get your account cancelled.
Is this true? If so, please include an info source (link) if possible.
I get rather crappy signal while I'm at home, so I'm interested in this app, but I'm usually using voice calls while I'm at home, so I don't want to get myself canceled for roaming during 90%+ of my voice calls.
Thankx for any info.

Spoke too soon...after a few hours of being installed, i opened up roam control and it forced closed, rebooted my phone and my app drawer is empty.
I paid for this app, and any roaming I force upon my phone gives poor data...
Apparently one bar of sprint is better than 4bars of roaming mystery carrier.

I too did have it working until I rebooted. Good luck getting it working again. I sent him an email requesting a refund since he says he will offer a 24 hour refund policy in his description on the market even after the market change.

It's because VZW has a 1x roaming agreement with Sprint (meaning sprint phones can only roam with 2G, not 3G connections).
Does any one know if this will work with U.S. Cellular? I had VZW before i got my Epic so its of no help to me if it will not work with U.S. Cellular, there is a deedspot i'm in a lot & Sprint works better than VZW does but only U.S. Cellular works consistently

I don't believe so. In fact this issue is what helped nudge me to learn to root in the first place. Do it, you won't regret it. It gives you so much more control over your phone.

You should be able to change to a verizon prl without rooting. There's a thread in dev section on how to update it manually. Check it out might be what you need.

Only problem is, will they get pinched for doing that by Sprint eventually since it's going to be on Verizon more or less always. And, it'd prevent them from getting proper data service. Unless there's a way to switch PRLs on the fly I'm not aware of.

I read somewhere that we get 800mbs a month on roaming before you get flagged, then i think they offer you an airrave cell tower, after that i think they terminate ur contract (free of ETF *wink* *wink*)
EDIT: which is why Roam Control rocks, solid 1x is better than nothing
Correct and people have been terminated for that reason. Just root and get roam control from the market. Its simple too root. And roam control works great. I find myself in areas with 1 or no bars of service and goes up too 4 or 5 when roam control is on

I talked to Sprint on their live chat about this, and of course they don't know anything.
I am only having bad service in one zip code, my home zip code. I get a notification saying the text failed to send, when it didn't - the other person got the message. My 4G speed is UNDER 1mbit. How do I address this issue with Sprint so the issue is resolved? According to the idiot on the live chat thing, he said there aren't any network issues.

They probably are doing some tower improvement or network improvement in your area and the person you spoke with just didn't know. Heck, when I called in about the OTA update, they told me 2.3.4 is the newest version available

I know that I have had trouble for a whole day in SoCal before. I thought it was my setup so I Odin flashed back to stock, re-rooted, reflashed ROM only to find out it was a network issue. If you can go the day without it, I would see if its fixed tomorrow morning. If not, start totally fresh. If you Odin back to full stock and still have the problem, its pretty safe to say its the network

Not so sure. I don't see anything current going on. And would they really leave their service in a degraded state for weeks on end for network upgrades?

A little late to the party. It's called SVDO, which allows devices with CDMA radios to simultaneously use voice and data.
My understanding is that only the S3 and EVO LTE have the radios capable of doing this, whereas the Nexus LTE may not.
Gs3 and the Evo LTE has two radios antennas. One for voice & one for data. So I've heard. Let me know if I'm wrong tho

It's because they don't support SVDO on all towers and during high volumes, data is less prioritized so you may only get voice.

LMAO I wouldn't be surprised. I don't even bother going into their store to ask questions. Only to look at phones and when I'm approached by someone I tell them I'm fine because 99% of what they say is misinformation or flat out ridiculous. Last time I went I overheard one of the guys telling this lady who obviously knew nothing about phones that she should go with the Epic Touch 4G because the Galaxy Nexus "wasn't that good." Really? It was hard holding my tongue at that moment. Anyways sorry to get a little off topic but just had to let it out.

Actually, the Evo 4G LTE did SVDO before the S3. And I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure there were other SVDO-capable phones before the Evo.

Sounds like it could be network vision. I'm a tech for sprint and there have been lots of customers in my area that can't receive phone calls. Flash the return to stock Rom and if it is still doing it then take it to a service center. If they determine it's a network issue then you're SOL.

So what would you recommend as the best course of action? Staying on 55015 unless you notice you aren't receiving calls sometimes? Come to think of it I think I did get a voicemail once without the phone ringing... but other than that once, it seems like 55015 has been better than 2000, at least in terms of holding a data signal.
Depends on your area and your service. If 20000 doesn't work and 55015 does, then stick with it. As for calls rolling directly to VM and your phone isn't broke lol, it more then likely is a hickup in the network. You should see some of the network Trams I see on my end.

So I noticed you work for Sprint. I'm running a custom prl on my note 2 that prioritizes 800 smr. Most of the time I fail to connect, but not always. I am an active member at s4gru.com, a Sprint forum, and many people with note 2's are experiencing the same connection problems with smr. My wisdom for you is if Sprint, internally, has diagnosed the problem with the note 2's and 800 smr. Obviously Sprint knows something is up or they wouldn't have pushed the 2000 prl.

The reason I push out non standard PRLs are for instances were I have a customer who is not getting service at all or is getting extremely poor voice service. As for s4gru.com, that is not a sprint affiliated web site. It is a community blog that is not moderated nor updated by sprint. It is true that some N2 users in specific markets experience issues with 800 SMR bands enabled but I personally have not had an issue with it.

But for most people I deal with, having to power cycle your phone occasionally is a hell of a lot better then no service at all.

Hey all,
I could really use some advice. I live in North Carolina, my phone has worked just fine for over a year. Monday I went on a business trip to Dallas Texas and my phone won't connect to Voice or Data services at all. What can I do?
I tried turning airplane mode on and off, removing the battery, chatted with Sprint online, called the Support number. Sprint is NO help at all. They didn't outright tell me that my phone was broken, but practically did. I guess it just magically broke on the plane to Dallas??
Even in areas with good coverage, like my bars show good connection, I can't connect. I can hook to wifi just fine, but that is it. Sprint support told me that they can't even see where my phone has connected at all since I arrived in Texas.
Should I try flashing one of those PRLs from another thread? I'm not sure what to do. I assume that as is my phone will start working again when I get back to North Carolina though. I tried reflashing a "stock" rom and some of those "#" number calls, but none of them work since my phone isn't connected to any towers. Help!

That is what is so strange, I can dial that number, even from a stock rom, and my phone doesn't do anything, it just sits on "dialing" then makes the hang up noise after 15 or so seconds.

Not yet, since I'm here on business I don't have much time to do that, but honestly I don't think they would be able to do much more than the support person over the phone did. I'd have to unroot it and all of that before bringing it in, the folks in the store would try those ## type calls, wipe my phone and reset it, then probably tell me my phone is broken and try to sell me another phone, especially since I am eligible for an upgrade.
I don't want to actually buy a new phone until I get back to NC since I still think my phone will start working once I am back there, which would be just as confusing.
This is the same phone I brought here to Texas last October and it worked fine, so I don't know what exactly the issue could be.

If you are still having this issue I would suggest you try an app called Network Signal Refresher. It basicly updates your prl and profile by connecting you to the nearest tower

Thanks, I gave this a try, but it doesn't look like it worked. Part of the issueI think even for PRL updates is that my phone won't connect to the towers. Like with a Stock Rom in the Sprint Zone you can get to that section where you can do a Profile update and all of that, it always fails with a connection error. I gave that error message to Sprint support but they couldn't do anything with it. I will keep trying it though now and then.

Is there a good updated guide for doing that? I did that on my EVO 4G, but never on the S3. I haven't looked yet but I will check into it this evening for sure.
They could be working on the towers in the area. When they did in my area, it showed I had bars but could not text or call. I would try flashing the 2 PRL, as it helped me get my phone working until they fixed it or in your case until you get Home. I can upload it if you need it.
