Error 262 Update Error - Bricked or Not ?

As a result of a failed update (failed at 60%) why Vario II is now not very well. When I power the unit on it hangs on the HTC screen. If I power the unit on and hold the power & OK key to enter the update screen things seem to get better.
The update process starts, the device is recognised, the update starts and on the Vario the screen shows 0% Upgrade, at which point the PC update fails with the 262 Update Error. Prior to the update there is a screen that shows the software version on the device and the upgrade, version, my unit no longer shows any version, it blank.
Any suggestions, is there a way to recover this?
Thanks

Have a look at this error list I posted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298640
Thanks for the post, I'd done a search and come across the same page, however whatever I do the update fails.
The upgrade appears to be OK, clicking next , next etc the device is recognised, but not version number, every time it gets to the point of uploading the firmware and displaying the % complete it fails, with no progress.
Any other suggestions, is it possible to flash the device using an memory card?
Thanks for any suggestions
UPDATE !!!
I've found the details regarding flashing using SD card (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing) but this seems to be failing.
When the bootloader starts it recognises the SD image, the screen goes white and displays 'Loading' after a few seconds '00068002' in red is displayed and the SPL bootloader screen is displayed.
Further fun and games, I seem to be able to use mtty utility and have sucessfully downgrade to SPL 1.01 and back upto 1.04 neither of which improved the above.
If I'm able to do this, can I use mtty to load OS.nb, if so where can I get hold of a valid OS.nb file for my Vario II

Difrent SFB
try usuing difrent sfb f.
have similar problem at some time...
just try using another sfb and do factory reset each time
yea.. some sbf have higher or lower on img version which might prevent your phone from fully flashed.
I tried various different FW from here. Everytime the same results. Today I was bring phone to Vodafone, I wonder on verdict
you said you tried all firmware versions, can you try diffrent RSD Lite version, may be RSD lite having problem. I am using " RSD Lite 4.9.msi ".
so phone is back. In report from service were Changed bad SWAP module. In used parts were 1pcs of RF board. Anyway I brought phone back to Vodafone because he cant sign in other than 3G network, and many places in our country are sill only 2G.

[urgent] Galaxy S Plus completely frozen/blocked/bricked/...

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Plus here which is almost brand new and has only been used for some phone/texts/emails so far.
I connected it to a PC running Samsung Kies and it told me there was a firmware update available for this phone, so i clicked ok and had it install.
During the installation, at 22%, everything freezes and locks up, it remained at 22% for 45 minutes until (after some googling) i was recommended to just turn it off / reboot it.
After rebooting, i constantly get this icon on the screen :
Copy & paste the following in a web browser (as I'm not allowed to place a link or picture apparently)... : img267.imageshack.us/img267/930/fotofg.jpg
I tried removing the battery for 10 seconds and then boot it up again - same screen.
And it doesn't matter if its connected to the PC or not, its always that screen.
And when it IS connected to the pc, samsung Kies shows the 'connecting' screen but it never actually connects.
What do I do ?
How is it possible that someone's phone gets locked/frozen for simply trying to update ?!

Custom solution
Hello,
It's a big problem, but maybe can you blame samsung? However, I don't know if you have CMW, but try to boot that and than install custom rom (a zip rom). After that you can install original firmware.
If that doesn't work find a rom that works with odin, boot in download mode and install that rom, after that install original firmware.
Similar thing append to me but wile using odin i got the same screen.
What i did was connect it gain to the pc, odin detected it and was able to flash the rom.
It was pretty scary i assure you.
My advise is if the phone is brand new take it to your dealer a let them sort this out as it was not your fault at all.
If it's a brand new phone I'd use Samsung's warranty or maybe even return it.

Note 3 SM-N900 stuck at "Firmware upgrade error" Please help!

Hello everyone,
Hope you are well.
I am having a bad day with this Note 3. After resetting the stock firmware, it kept on giving a yellow sign at the notification bar that says "unauthorised operation detected, please reboot to prevent changes". Note that this is after full reset and no update or anything installed. After It restarted, it did something which looks like when a device gets a rom update (like those tools working on the droid belly), and after that it rebooted and keeps showing "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue, Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
I installed Kies 3 and it detects the phone but then says its not supported. If I try to do an firmware initialization and recovery, it asks for the phone model and serial number, after I enter both, it comes up with a message saying "SM-N900 does not support initializing."
Odin can't flash the phone either, its coming up with and error says write failed.
Please advise on how to proceed from here.
Many thanks in advance.

Galaxy S20+ stuck in "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency Recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software."

Hello,
An error appeared today while I was trying to update my Samsung Galaxy 20+ 5G (SM-G986B/DS) bought from my operator (La Poste Mobile) which is neither flashed nor rooted.
Small timeline of events:
- The last update installed was on May 24, 2021. Since then, all system updates of the phone have failed
- On October 25, 2022, since the last system update was almost a year and a half old, I searched for a way to try to perform the update. After some research, I came across this thread (https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/gamme-galaxy-s20/mise-à-jour-impossible/td-p/5000954) which advised to update via Smart Switch
So I downloaded Smart Switch on my Windows PC and plugged my phone into USB-C to perform the update, after which I have a beautiful turquoise screen that says "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency Recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software."
So I tried to use the Emergency Recovery feature of Smart Switch, but it is impossible to access the recovery mode of the phone (I keep coming back to the turquoise screen with a red "DEBORE : DN_FAIL_SECURE_CHECK_FAIL) and it remains stuck at 93% with "Secure check Fail: (Radio)" in red at the top of the screen when using either USB-C or 2.0 USB.
Is there anything I can do to fix my phone without losing my data? It must be possible to do a factory reset, but I don't want to lose my phone's data (data that I didn't save of course, it would be too easy otherwise)
Thanks in advance for your help/advice!
