Hellp i am in Southern Africa i bought Lg g8 sprint bad esn can it be unlocked i want to usw the phone for mobile calling and mobile data not wifi can you help me guys

It can only be unlocked though Sprint and possibly some third party websites. Next time don't buy a bad esn phone

I have a bad esn G8 too. I use an electronic chip that goes under the SIM card to unlock my carrier. Phone calls work perfectly but data doesn't.

I got mine from a local dealer. But you can find it online on ebay or many other sites. Just google "unlock sim" for more info. Here's a picture to know what you're looking for:

Thank you for that hope. But could you help us a little more? I just found these adapters specifically for iphones. Would it really be these? Because I could not find any that were said compatible with android devices.

It's true those sims were initially made to unlock iphones, but used to unlock many recent android phones now too. I guess you will have to contact the sellers before buying. I checked my chip but it has no brand name.

You should look on eBay for an esn / imei unlock service for Sprint. If you want to search more specifically put in for lg too. As long as you're not blacklisted, those services are very cheap and good

Thanks again. I asked several sellers on ebay if their Rsim served to unlock android devices as well, unfortunately none of them told me to be possible or did not have the knowledge. In fact I am in an unfavorable situation, because I live far away from the United States or Europe, I live in Brazil. The only way I have to get good technological products at the best prices that those practiced within my country is by import.
I bought in an auction of ebay an lg v40 with bad esn, hoping it was possible to use it normally in another country, but unfortunately it was not possible. Two years ago I imported an LG V20 blocked by US cellular, according to the announcement, which worked normally in Brazil, but the V40 did not.
I would like to ask a favor of you and anyone who reads and has a chance to make confirmation. If you could test any of these advertised rsim for iphones (Rsim 12,13,14 ou 15), while passing somewhere selling them, just to make sure any of these work also for bad esn or blocked android or just some specific models.
And one more question, do you remember if it was necessary to do some specific configuration or use some unlock code, just when you started using your rsim?

Thanks for your advice! I came to consider this option right when I received the device. From my research I saw that were not yet succeeding in the period 2018 until 2019, and some people saying that it was not possible to remove the locks on the latest Sprint devices, besides that my drive besides blocked has bad esn. But anyway, I appreciate your good intention.

Update: I changed the e-sim today and data worked instantly. Turned out the one I've been using is used to unlock audio calls only. Now my G8 works perfectly.

Ok, thanks for this good news. But... my friend... I need the model name sim, and the place where you bought it. As I said earlier, I live outside the United States and therefore can't buy locally. So I need to know which specific model I can buy. I need the model to search and buy over the Internet, then send to my address in Brazil. It would be very useful if you could post a picture of the product packaging and another of the adapter itself.

I got the new chip from a local dealer. It has no brand or marks what so ever. Actually the dealer separeted the esim from a long ribbon of attached ones and non had any writing on it! And he had 'em from a local service too.
I don't know how to help you guys. But I thought I'd give you hope.

But as I said before, I live outside the United States and I usually get things online, by import, and so I would like to ask you a special favor, you could not buy this e-sim for me (the same as you bought recently) and send to the address of the order redirection company that I use, located in Orlando Florida? I could pay you for the e-sim and the cost of shipping + a bonus for your work and help, via Paypal, or even you could sell on ebay if you prefer. Hoping they do, and there are decent trade-in values as well. This OnePlus 9Pro should cover a majority of a P6P 256gb model to make the transition easy. First time Pixel buyer trying to get off the OnePlus train after 4 models.

I'm in the same bout. Il be treating my 9p as well. It was a true disappointment, especially in the batty department

Stopped by a local store today, they will definitely stock the devices. They estimated the deals (Trade-in or other) would be available to store employees on Thursday evening or Friday morning.

Yes, it should be bloated big time....

Saw the preorder availability on the T-Mobile site. Can't decide if I want to just order unlocked from Google or go thru TMobile. This is the hardest decision!

If you look at the news postings you will find an article on where to get the best deals on the Pixel 6. It has links to T-mobile's site, so I guess it is already up. There are some deals available, with Magenta Max IIRC. It also can be bought from Best Buy (unlocked) and of course Google (free Bose earbuds).
I don't want any phone that doesn't have an unlocked bootloader. While there may be great deals on the 6 from T-mobile I simply wouldn't put up with the crapware that is included, as well as the poor after sale firmware support. It seems to me one of the best reasons for a Pixel is to get regular security and OS updates direct from Google, when first released. It may be that the TM 6 can get security updates direct from Google - I don't know as that has been developing. And there may be a way to unlock the bootloader, which would allow installing a North American unlocked firmware. But if not both then I would buy direct. FWIW I just bought a 5a from Google and am downloading 12 right now.

I'll probably JOD! my 4a 5G for the Pixel 6 as I have the Pixel 6 Pro on pre-order from Google.

The google support page shows sub-6 missing but according to the Cnet article below most of the other carriers have confirmed that their version will have all the 5g bands that they'll be selling. I've decided to hold off until t-mobile clarifies what their 6 pro will cover compared to the unlocked version before I pull the trigger.

This is a non-issue. That page merely omitted the listed of sub-6. Here is a snippet from another Google support page showing what is covered by model. There won't be a new phone like this released without 5G compatibility as it would make no sense, especially given newer modems cover almost all the required bands without any add-on's other than mmWave. Here is the page and shows carrier by carrier compatability:

Just curious...I've been buying my Pixels directly from Google for convenience, because I always prefer max internal storage and carriers don't always offer those.
This year, I wanted to make sure I got the 512 GB model.
Back in 2014, TMobile was running one of those promos where they offered to buy out your contract if you tried them out. They also had the Nexus 6 available for sale, so I decided to give them a shot.
At the time, the Nexus 6 was in high demand, and Tmobile shipped mine the next day. They also tweeted that their Nexus didn't come with all that carrier bloat, poking fun at AT&T.

The (unlocked) 5a works fine on T-Mobile 5G. It does not support mmWave but that is not very useful for mobile applications anyway (mmWave doesn't have much range and doesn't penetrate walls well). If you are buying a MiFi then you would want mmWave if there is a tower close by. What you are losing is that you won't get the extremely high bandwidth when using the phone as a hotspot, but since there are only a handful of cities with this band available that is more theoretical at this point. BTW I am getting better 5G coverage than 4G LTE in my marina - TM put 5G on a nearby tower that they hadn't been using before. TM 5G is widely available, although not really much faster than 4G LTE.
Even if TM doesn't add bloatware (I'm not sure) it is still locked and probably not going to get the updates as often as the unlocked phone. Google has been working on bypassing the networks and directly upgrading phones but don't know if we are there yet.

Tmo is only carrying the 128gb variant...I pre-ordered the unlocked version from Google.

As you stated, that was then, when John Legere was just beginning the "Uncarrier" hype. I enjoyed the ride, but, now that the ultimate goal has been achieved (merger/acquisition), T-Mobile has been gradually backsliding, the Uncarrier has one foot out the door.
Count on T-Mobile bloatware being pre-installed & not all of it can be uninstalled &/or disabled.
The T-Mobile system apk for diagnostics can have the permissions denied, but, it's the one apk that can't be disabled, even w/an ADB command, or, app freezer.
If you're wanting to root/ROM, I'd steer clear of the T-Mobile branded Pixel 6/Pro.
If T-Mobile Pixels can be converted to US unlocked models (for development), it's news to me...........

I suspect that a TMO 5a or 6xxx can be flashed with the U.S. unlocked firmware, after having been SIM unlocked and then bootloader unlocked. But until someone does it I would consider this a risky proposition, and not worth doing considering that it is easy to buy an unlocked pixel and we know how to root it.

We'll know soon enough, I'll definitely be following this thread & any how-to threads for B/L unlocking.
It's not a deal breaker for me, but, definitely prefer the option to flash unlocked firmware, akin to doing the same w/T-Mobile OnePlus devices........

Thanks for posting and confirming what I was already suspecting. 7 years ago, Tmobile was the dark horse that was working to be seen as a legitimate alternative to the big 3. Former Sprint execs have even admitted they didn't consider T-Mobile to be true competition, compared to Verizon and AT&T.
I can't complain too much. I've have some Tmobile stock that has appreciated quite nicely over the years, and the old "uncarrier" initiatives and increased competition forced carriers like Verizon to allow 3rd-pary unlocked devices to run on their network, yet Tmobile Tuesday "gifts" are also not nearly as generous.
Hoping you can clarify something you mentioned earlier. You said Tmobile phones come with a diagnostic app that can't be removed or disabled. Does that mean that you could use the phone on Verizon/AT&T and still have a Tmobile app unable to be uninstalled, potentially collecting data?
I'm assuming if the the bootloader can be unlocked and rooted that any app can be disabled, but, as you stated, having a Tmobile variant no longer guarantees unbranding and bootloader unlockability.
Some people don't differentiate between whether a phone can be sim unlocked (to use on different carriers) or bootloader unlocked (to root or run custom firmware). That's not a huge deal for most people, but it gives me pause if I was buying a device on the secondary market, like Swappa.
The only way for a buyer to be sure they are getting a bootloader unlockable device is to ask the buyer where they purchased it from. To be fair, Androiid is more polished and no loner requires root to copy and paste or take screen shots, but I still like having the extra freedom and control to install my own updates.
In the future, if Tmobile ever gets all variants of the Pixel, including the 512 GB or 1 TB versions, with fantastic trade-in offers, it may make my decision more difficult, but I like being able to buy my devices directly from the manufacturers, especially for warranty situations, and use the carriers specifically for phone service.

Question Has anyone got 5G working on unlisted country (rooted module is welcome)????

I read other and find some comment able to enable VoLTE but not 5G.
Some said that they have tried the older way which worked on older device but it seem don't work on Pixel 6 Pro anymore.
They assume that this is because google use their new tensor chip not the Qualcomm one.
Until now I can't find the solution for enable 5g for unlisted country. Please help me find that .

What do you mean with "unlisted country"? It's your carriers choice whether or not he activates VoLTE/5G and whether or not he supports your phone, so why not talk to your carrier why they don't support the new P6?

It's working here in Norway. The speeds are about 50% of the phones sold officially.

No, google blocks 5G and volte in unsupported countries, i.e. countries where it is not officially sold, e.g. Czech Republic, Finland, Poland, Croatia etc.,

Well, the man over you just said that it works in Norway, and Google doesn't sell the Pixel 6 in Norway*. So what you say can't be true. So either the man over you is lying, or it's indeed a carrier issue and not a Google one.

These are supported countries in Europe, I mistook Finland which is supported but they currently don't sell the Pixel 6/pro there as well as Norway. If you still don't believe it google "5G not supported in countries not supported by google", that's why for earlier models you had to install special modules with root to activate

It's not carriers option, it definitely because of Google restricted by software. Pixel 5 do support 5G in Thailand (according to the spec sheet) but you cannot use it even though carriers let you able to. However, right after root and install module, 5G work fine. So that mean the only problem is Google software.

This is just my assumption:
I think it like all selling country will be fully supported.
For the rest, some countries are supported by somehow.
The other countries, without root, definitely NO.
So in the thread, I find that google change to use 5G modem from Samsung not Qualcomm as the older device.
Also, if I correct it is the same modem with S20 series.
So really hope there is someone able to modify that to make the Pixel 6 Pro able to use 5G without Google's stupid restrictions.

Mine is now rooted and got volte and vowifi working fine with Magisk module but cannot get 5G working. As mentioned above it is Google stopping it in their settings. We have three networks in Ireland and Google support two but not the third (who use Huawei 5G tech!). Root will be essential I'd say to add the settings for the restricted networks. So much for paying full price for an unlocked phone...
It used to be easier to change the modems mbn settings with Qualcomm but does not work with Pixel 6 modem which I hope someone more clever than me can help with!

Well maybe they do. But people travel, don't they. And depending on where they travel they might use different SIM cards. So even when I bough a Pixel in an "officially supported country" (like France), I might travel to Netherlands and use a Dutch SIM card ... then suddenly I would only get half baked support? That just does not sound right.

Well, that's how it always has been with Software features, they are locked, usually for legal reasons.
I've read so many discussions over the years from US soldiers stationed in Europe and their constant struggle to get Home Television/Sports, Google/Streaming Services and other services working, that it's not even surprising me any more to hear of this (some services offer workarounds, but ONLY if you have a US address+citizenship - so many of those soldiers had to order stuff to their families back home, had them open the packages, transcript and send them the codes they needed and then they had a solution, even though only few companies offer such a solution). It's not a Google problem, it's an industry problem of licenses and laws. I remember a discussion on reddit where a businessman flamed Google hard for disabling his Automatic Call Screening whenever he flew to a country that didn't support it - which back then equalled 98% of the planet, except the USA, lel.
In the end Google, of course, didn't - or couldn't - care and his problem was not solved.

This is the only thing that holding me back to buy flagship pixel, volte which is 10 years old technology still locked for most countries, and they make it hard to unlock them (im still having trouble enabling them on my 4 xl), and 5g, lte+ feature. Why would we pay flagship price but couldnt get this important feature. Was thinking buying oneplus until then.

But you are right, why can Google not do what all other manufacturers can.

Why would they that would mean legit customers who visit those countries can't access it

The device is completely stock, with all the latest updates installed, the bootloader is locked and has never been unlocked:
I’ve selected the 5G preferred mode:
As you can see, there are no 5G networks available. Yet, if I put the same SIM card in the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (while standing in the same exact spot), the Samsung phone immediately connects to the 5G network.
Any ideas why the Poco F3 just refuses to use 5G?
Here, in Latvia, the n78 5G band is currently used.

I'm not sure if you've heard about this, but most mig range 5g phones do not support as many bands as flagships. The 5g is a compromised feature, mainly used as a marketing term, so yes, it is technically 5g, though it does not support full 5g capabilities

According to their website, Poco F3 does support n78 5G, therefore It must me compatible with our 5G networks.

Not always!
Just because the bands are there doesn't mean it's supported under software (or there could be a carrier whitelist for 5G and other services like VoLTE and VoWiFi.).
I'm afraid you need to dig a bit deeper.

Just because it can by hardware doesn't mean it actually will in software.
To give you a fine example (this is one of the many reasons why I cannot recommend pixel devices):
Pixel 6 does 5G technically as per the hardware (it has the bands) in my country (NZ). There's no software configuration built for it for our networks. 5G does not work because there's no configuration for it on the carrier side. Same with VoLTE and same with VoWiFi.
You can apply the same logic to the Poco F3. Just because it can doesn't mean it actually will.

To be honest, I genuinely feel cheated. For me, the primary reason to buy Poco F3 was its 5G capabilities. If I had known that it wouldn’t work on 5G, I wouldn’t have bought it in the first place.
By the way, there’s also something strange going on with firmware updates. Basically, this phone is stuck on MIUI V12.5.3 and Android security patch 2021-06-01.:
If I tap on Update (with that red dot) the phone just offers to reboot itself. Rebooting doesn’t change anything:

You should probably clean flash the very latest and see if 12.5.6 changes anything. Or actually because you're European. You could try the EU MIUI 13 flavour since that's officially out but this requires unlocking the bootloader.

First of all, I’m not sure what version of Poco F3 I’m using. The model number is M2012K11AG.
Is it the Global or EEA model?
I tried to copy an official ROM file called ‘miui_ALIOTHGlobal_V12.5.6.0.RKHMIXM_2a2c3560a3_11.0’ into the folder ‘downloaded_rom’ in the internal storage. According to the flashing guide given on Xiaomi’s website: ‘Launch ‘Settings’ app on your device, select ‘About phone’, click ‘System update’, then press ‘three dots’ icon at the top-right corner, and select ‘choose update package’ to enter.’ Unfortunately, my phone doesn’t give this three dot option in the System Update:

Since the current MIUI version on my phone is 12.5.3.0.RKHEUXM, I concluded that it has to be the EEA model. I downloaded the latest recovery ROM 12.5.8.0.RKHEUXM from Xiaomi’s website and saved it to the phone. Eventually, I managed to briefly tap on the three dots and a menu appeared.
I selected ‘Choose update package’ and then the ZIP file with the newly downloaded MIUI update.
After that, the phone just sat there with ‘Getting info… 0%’. Even after an hour there had been no progress. Damn!

Ok, after a lengthy trial-and-error process, I finally managed to upgrade to the official MIUI V12.5.8.0.RKHEUXM.
Unfortunately, it did nothing to solve the original problem, e.g., the phone is still unable to detect any 5G network.

Well, what other choice did you have? If you wanted working 5g, then your best bet was to buy a full fledged flagship. So out of the mid range phone selection, I'd say the F3 is a great choice, it has great hardware and looks real nice.

I don't know if it'll work or not, but you could try a custom rom and see if it supports your bands, though you will have to unlock your bootloader, voiding your warranty. Proceed at your own risk!

ROM won't fix what might be not supported by the carrier.

Bad faith reply. The Poco F3 is a flagship killer. It supports 5G pretty well. Just not on OPs carrier. If you read they did indeed test the same SIM in an S22U. The issue lies within the handset requesting features the carrier does not have for that phone or carrier has a whitelist. Pretty fair to say that most carriers are pretty open and even some smartphones not sold by carriers get a fair amount of support.
OP are there any other carriers you can try in Latvia? Would be interesting to see.

I live in the UK, over here manufacturers won't take your device back if youve unlocked the bootloader, though if you relock it they will.

Also Europe barely accounts for 10% of the world's population, so even if what your saying is true in Europe, it still doesnt apply to most people (believe it or not, not everyone is from Europe ). Hence why on almost every custom rom page, devs say that your bootloader will be voided.
So yes, it may not apply to your region, but it certainly isn't "nonsense", well at least it isnt for 90% of the world.

1. You said that the hardware supports it while the software may not, that's why I suggested that it may be possbile for a custom ROM to support these bands, as the hardware already does, though there is a very low chance of this being true.
2. I'm not bad mouthing the Poco F3, I'm complimenting it. And about it not supporting 5g and how OP would have to buy a flagship, thats because most devices in his price range may also have the same issue with his carrier's bands, hence he would be forced to buy a flagship if he wanted to use said carrier with his device. The poco f3 is a great phone, a flagship killer. It's basically what we expected oneplus to release instead of the oneplus 8 lineup. I'm just reaffirming to him that it was a great purchase.

Question Anyone on Verizon have their Fold activated on esim?

I didn't know there is Verizon Fold 4 eSim option? I preordered mine and it arrived last Monday. Activated it the same day. It comes with a new pSim, and I have to admit I am questioning the necessity of pSim if every new phone comes with one (physical sim) and I have no reason to take it out because I won't be changing plans or carriers in the foreseeable future. Why have one? Give me the option to buy a specific/no change/this-carrier-only-forever, and I can save a few bucks? Why the heck not! I am obviously aware of tract phones, or maybe I am not if that is where your question is going to lead.

interesting concept I didn't know existed.
The box came with the pokey tool specifically for sim removal. I haven't bothered to double confirm there is actually a sim in the tray that pops out. I trust them, it's there and we know the phone doesn't come with expandable micro sd ability so the tray better have a sim, or why have the tray?
If I were to pop the tray out just to look and that is the only reason for pulling it out, I have a chance of breaking something. Don't do that. That's what pilots do, and then I gotta fix it. LOL

The purpose of having esim is so you can put your primary number on it and have a physical sim slot free. This way if the phone is a work phone (or vice versa) you can have both lines on one device. Also, for traveling it comes in handy. Not sure about Samsung but I know with Apple you can actually have multiple lines registered to esim. Only two lines can be used simultaneously but (again) this comes in handy for travelers that may not have service with a particular carrier but another does, for example.
Carriers have rules too that governor the use of esim registration as well as sim lock. For example a Verizon phone on equipment payment plan (EIP) won't work on TMO on esim. At least not for the intial 60 day period from activation. Other carriers (ATT), for example won't lift the sim lock until the device is paid off.
This is why I always get unlocked devices. Always.

I got my fold 4 on verizon and 5g works. It's didn't work too good at first and then I chatted with customer service a couple of days ago and now I finally get the full speed like I used to. I guess they never activated it properly before.

I've had no problems with 5G.
Unlocked running big red V in Tampa Florida.

Possibly although if it is activated you should be getting whatever services are available.
Interestingly enough, I have two VZW numbers on my Fold 4 currently. One on a physical "5G" SIM provided by VZW in the past month, and the other on esim. Both numbers are on accounts with the highest level plan.
I was in an area that barely got any signal and the number with the physical sim was bouncing between no service and one bar whereas the esim number never completely lost service. Signals for both were in the -120 to -130 dBm range so very, very weak.
It was interesting to see this, however.
I've had both lines on my iPhone 13 Pro Max the same way and often see similar results and the signals showing for each often show different number of bars as well.

Much respect, what did you say to them? How did you do it. It's failed 3 times for me. And I would kill to have Verizon on esim so I can have aren't back to is annoying at times verizon variant or unlocked?

Mine is unlocked direct from Samsung.
I probably spent a total of 6 hours of my time to get this (finally) working over a period of about 1 week. Started with the website. It detected the IMEI as esim and 5G capable and compatible with VZW. Everything looked good but it would not activate at all! Tried a second time and got an error to contact support.
Did that via chat and got nowhere fast. They opened a ticket that they said could take up to a week to get resolved! I called a few more times during this period, transferred around to different people, etc. Still no luck.
The final time that worked was even though Verizon showed up as a carrier I still had no service. I was transferred to someone else that did more TS and finally asked me for the EID. After about 10 minutes, she came back and had me power off the phone. When it came back on I did see Verizon showing up along with my number. It took a few minutes and texts started coming through and I had voice and data!
It was a royal PIA. Perhaps everyone will benefit now that Apple is switching to esim ONLY as it will REQUIRE the carriers to get their S4iT together and make this process smoother. Because this was a total cluster-f!

When I scan the cr is says my plans not setup and will not detect me

They need the IMEI 2 (esim) AND EID. Have no idea why they are having such a hard time with the newest Samsung phones! I was having the same issue initially.

What are the benefits of switching to esim? Besides having the sim slot available for an additional line or other carrier?

Not needing to carry two phones!

Anyone have an update regarding getting Verizon to activate your esim? They still won't activate mine, and I'm tired of carrying 2 phones (work and personal).

Cpufrost seems to be the only one I've seen. I couldn't either
