Spent hours trying to get this done, what a pain in the @SS!
It thinks the IMEI2 is a physical sim!
They have to fix this crap.
Verizon's support is going down the tubes big time.
I didn't know there is Verizon Fold 4 eSim option? I preordered mine and it arrived last Monday. Activated it the same day. It comes with a new pSim, and I have to admit I am questioning the necessity of pSim if every new phone comes with one (physical sim) and I have no reason to take it out because I won't be changing plans or carriers in the foreseeable future. Why have one? Give me the option to buy a specific/no change/this-carrier-only-forever, and I can save a few bucks? Why the heck not! I am obviously aware of tract phones, or maybe I am not if that is where your question is going to lead.
Verizon - yes
New Fold 4 - yes
Activated - yes
eSim - no
interesting concept I didn't know existed.
The box came with the pokey tool specifically for sim removal. I haven't bothered to double confirm there is actually a sim in the tray that pops out. I trust them, it's there and we know the phone doesn't come with expandable micro sd ability so the tray better have a sim, or why have the tray?
If I were to pop the tray out just to look and that is the only reason for pulling it out, I have a chance of breaking something. Don't do that. That's what pilots do, and then I gotta fix it. LOL
The purpose of having esim is so you can put your primary number on it and have a physical sim slot free. This way if the phone is a work phone (or vice versa) you can have both lines on one device. Also, for traveling it comes in handy. Not sure about Samsung but I know with Apple you can actually have multiple lines registered to esim. Only two lines can be used simultaneously but (again) this comes in handy for travelers that may not have service with a particular carrier but another does, for example.
Carriers have rules too that governor the use of esim registration as well as sim lock. For example a Verizon phone on equipment payment plan (EIP) won't work on TMO on esim. At least not for the intial 60 day period from activation. Other carriers (ATT), for example won't lift the sim lock until the device is paid off.
This is why I always get unlocked devices. Always.
I have a question for you, are you getting 5g on your unlocked phone with Verizon? I got my phone on launch day from Samsung, unlocked and have not had 5g. It was working fine on my prior Note20 ultra...
Would this esim issue solve the problem?

I got my fold 4 on verizon and 5g works. It's didn't work too good at first and then I chatted with customer service a couple of days ago and now I finally get the full speed like I used to. I guess they never activated it properly before.
I've had no problems with 5G.
Unlocked running big red V in Tampa Florida.

Possibly although if it is activated you should be getting whatever services are available.
Interestingly enough, I have two VZW numbers on my Fold 4 currently. One on a physical "5G" SIM provided by VZW in the past month, and the other on esim. Both numbers are on accounts with the highest level plan.
I was in an area that barely got any signal and the number with the physical sim was bouncing between no service and one bar whereas the esim number never completely lost service. Signals for both were in the -120 to -130 dBm range so very, very weak.
It was interesting to see this, however.
I've had both lines on my iPhone 13 Pro Max the same way and often see similar results and the signals showing for each often show different number of bars as well.

Much respect, what did you say to them? How did you do it. It's failed 3 times for me. And I would kill to have Verizon on esim so I can have aren't back to is annoying at times verizon variant or unlocked?
Mine is unlocked direct from Samsung.
I probably spent a total of 6 hours of my time to get this (finally) working over a period of about 1 week. Started with the website. It detected the IMEI as esim and 5G capable and compatible with VZW. Everything looked good but it would not activate at all! Tried a second time and got an error to contact support.
Did that via chat and got nowhere fast. They opened a ticket that they said could take up to a week to get resolved! I called a few more times during this period, transferred around to different people, etc. Still no luck.
The final time that worked was even though Verizon showed up as a carrier I still had no service. I was transferred to someone else that did more TS and finally asked me for the EID. After about 10 minutes, she came back and had me power off the phone. When it came back on I did see Verizon showing up along with my number. It took a few minutes and texts started coming through and I had voice and data!
It was a royal PIA. Perhaps everyone will benefit now that Apple is switching to esim ONLY as it will REQUIRE the carriers to get their S4iT together and make this process smoother. Because this was a total cluster-f!

When I scan the cr is says my plans not setup and will not detect me
They need the IMEI 2 (esim) AND EID. Have no idea why they are having such a hard time with the newest Samsung phones! I was having the same issue initially.
What are the benefits of switching to esim? Besides having the sim slot available for an additional line or other carrier?
Not needing to carry two phones!
Anyone have an update regarding getting Verizon to activate your esim? They still won't activate mine, and I'm tired of carrying 2 phones (work and personal).

I RMA-ed my HTC Titan X310e from UK because of the GPS Problem in tracking me down .
HTC sent it back with a US Motherboard of the Titan P series, which is from AT&T.
I have a goPhone service before and the UK Titan acquired great 3G for me, but now , i have the 4G icon popup, but i can;t access internet. I can call, text a message and receive them without any trouble.
I thought that even GoPhone services doesn't provide 4G Speed, at least they will still let me connect to the 3G network? Because i can't surf web at all.

I tried. No luck.
But guess what, i swap the IPhone 4S Simcard from my Brother. I was able to get online on that sim.
So look like AT&T locked my simcard? Can they do that? because my simcard is a goldphone one.
A gophone sim will work in any att phone and an att sim will work in any gophone or that's how it is supposed be. If it's not working for you even after using the network tool I would stop in an att store (a corporate owned one) and talk to someone about it. BTW that 4G is still really 3G it's just how att shows HSPA+.

The moment you walk into a corporate owned AT&T store and ask them to fix your phone because you wanted unlimited Internet again on your smartphone, they'll more than likely say its not possible.
The data plans on GoPhone pre-paid accounts were never meant for smartphones, as prepaid smartphones have their own capped data packages you can purchase.
So if you really find someone very nice or helpful (and that is a big if), then great. But more than likely, they will turn you away and tell you that you can only use regular data packages on your smartphone device with a prepaid account.

I think you need to get onto HTC and ream them for sending you back a different phone that what you purchased. You purchased a UK phone, did you not? They sent it back to you with AT&T parts. This is not ok, as far as I'm concerned... if the substitution was not approved by you. It's up to HTC to make your smartphone 'right' again.

Clear, no AT&T mark.
But on the back, the model is from AT&T.
As far as i know, they said they replaced the MB and that is all they did, so, the screeen, camera... and something else that i don't know is still from UK.
As far as you guys tell me, i will have to find another temp replacement since this could happen regularly and i need my phone for my stuffs.
PS: I plugged the old GoPhone simcard in to a GSM Phone and i still have EDGE Signal and can surf web on it...

Probably because if its got an AT&T/US IMEI, then AT&T is well aware that you are using a smartphone and they can actively block you from taking advantage of smartphone internet without the appropriate data package.
See before, you had an unknown IMEI from out of the country, so AT&T can't make heads or tails of it, and therefore they don't do anything about it when you use it on a plan you aren't supposed to be using it for. But now that they know you are using a smartphone, they say no data plan for you.

When you imported your Titan from the UK, AT&T had no way of knowing it was a smartphone. Therefore, you get to bypass any of their 'requirements'.
For example. I have a $20/mth unlimited GPRS Media Max plan. I get unlimited GPRS (from my feature phone) and 200 sms. Tethering is 'not allowed'. Now, I only use imported phones. I'm able to tether at HSPA speeds and my Lumia 800 from the UK is unrecognizable. Last year, I once put my SIM into an AT&T HTC HD7S and they immediately (and w/o my permission) forced me off my plan. A nasty little call to them and a ticket that took 5 days to resolve got me back on my old data plan.
Long story short. If the imei of your device is not recognized by AT&T as a smartphone, then you're victim to all of their limitations.

If i have to go with contract based... either the way is hurt, because their cheapest plan for an individual is like $69 for calling and data (they just require data for the contract, but we also need calling...)...
So basically, i don't really see the difference between branded and unbranded device if i use the contract-based sim (at least for me - who text and use data alot ) because there isn't much options,
Here is the Update:
I tried the iPhone Microsim in the slot for Titan, little weird, but it works.
The reason that i RMA-ed the phone was about my GPS when it fu(ked up. At least i know it is fixed (somehow) when it was able to acquire the position of mine, little bit slow, but i think that because i am staying inside the house and my location doesn't have great Signal for AT&T tho... ( i usually have 1-3 bar of AT&T inside.) But whatever, it was able to track down where i am and hold it for over 3-4 mins.
I also tried surfing web without Wifi:
So... I think i am going to AT&T store tomorrow. Sign up for a god damn contract...
I need some help from the real experts. I think that I may have screwed myself here on my One X Purchase. I got it from expansys-usa.com. Hopefully this is just my ignorance but from what I have been told by HTC customer service is that I received a Malaysian version of the One X. And that It will not be compatible at all with any US carrier for Data.
Here is where my current situation.
Ordered the phone wednesday 4/18 from Expansys-Usa.com
Received today, 4/20
Took it in to my local T-Mobile and had my sim from my Nexus One Cut down.
I receive phone calls and texts just fine but no data connection at all will work.
I was at T-Mobile for 2 hours as they tried to manually enter all APN settings, as well as talk to HTC support, no luck. In the end I was told I had a Malaysian model and that was the issue. When you enter the APN settings and save them, all it says is no Sim card found, please enter one. But the messaging and calling is connected in the back ground..
I have not been deep into phone tech for the last year or two so I am rusty on everything. What do you guys think, is there anything I can try to do here or is my only option to return the phone if possible?
Why would Expansys send out a Malaysian model? When first booting my phone the only language options are Asian-English but with like 12 different version of all different Asian countries. I get no option for anything in Europe.
Thank you..

Sounds like a t-mobile issue.
I have the same model as you I believe (asian region model, got "English" at initial startup but with a lot of different asian countries). All I did was go to "APN" setting in mobile networks, click on "AT&T" and everything works fine for me.
So yes, the asian one works on USA networks, but yours sounds like a t-mobile issue. This is of course if you have the same model as me, which is sounds like you do.
You know even if you had a European model it would only get 2G on T-Mobile?

That might be OP's problem. T-mobile 2g is so slow it would almost seem like there is no data connection.
HTC One X does not support t-mobile 3g.
Thanks for the replies. Although, I do know that I only will receive 2G. I had planned on this. But the problem is I get no data at all.
It is good to hear that there is someone else with this version and its working on ATT at least.
If your account is not provisioned correctly for the APN settings you are trying to use the phone will refuse to connect at all. Have Tmo check the plan they have you on. I had a similar problem with AT&T.

Well a good update.
Like in the thread I linked, it was an issue with the T-Mobile sim cards. Only the old style works with this phone. At least for now, hopefully a software update will fix this. I went to another T Mobile store the guy there was really helpful and we tried a handful of simcards. Ended up with the conclusion that the 3G sim cards worked, old style. He had to grab one out of an old Sensation package he said. But the newer 3GG ones dont. I dont know of the real diff but I wanted to share how the outcome was. I am now happily on edge. Hopefully 3G soon!

That might be OP's problem. T-mobile 2g is so slow it would almost seem like there is no data connection.
HTC One X does not support t-mobile 3g.

Wrong, Edge works on 3g and it is as fast as it can be..If you watch some videos of the One x on tmo you will notice how fast Edge is..
I bought from expansys USA as well. No problems at all and received the Taiwan build. I know a few people were having problems with T-Mobile and data. The issue was solved by getting the older micro sim card that said 3g, not their new one that says 3gg.

EDGE/GRPS and "fast" shouldn't be used in the same sentence. EDGE is 2G, not 3G, and speeds are highly influenced by load on the network. 1MB down would be a stupendous result but in some markets is can be as low as 300KB. If it works for you; cool. But people shouldn't think that EDGE speeds are going to be a satisfactory alternative to HSPA/HSPA+. And speeds will vary widely across T-Mobile’s network.

your correct..it is 2g but works as it was 3g..this video will help you to understand that edge isn't slow like a lot of people may think..i had one time that it loaded a page almost instantly..i was surprised at the speed i was getting and still getting..and that was in an area where tmobile hasn't refarmed their 1900 spectrum

I initially tried using my One X on Tmo here in the states as well. I got a prepaid micro sim from the tmo store and had no issues besides only getting dreadful Edge only. Switched to AT&T and had no problems getting hspa+ with no issues. I have a China made one X I bought from Singapore. If you're bent on using tmo, try a micro sim.

Hi all, long time reader/lurker, but finally took the plunge on one of the Korean G3 phones and ran into this...
Quick question for the people who have the F400S on AT&T: Do you guys get LTE Data on your G3's? Mine just came today, and I get great service (surprised I got LTE, was originally just planning on 3G usage) but whenever I access any site that isn't att.com/esupport or att.com/biztech, I get the redirect in the image.
Message says: "We're sorry, but you are attempting this transaction during a restricted time period set by your wireless account owner."

I have no weird account restrictions, and I've got a support ticket in AT&T (should hear back by the 16th), but was hoping to get some advice if any other AT&T F400S G3 owners are getting similar messages.
I'll post back with what AT&T tells me on whats going on.
UPDATE (6/12/2014): I knew I needed to link my new IMEI to my old SIM card (from HTC One). Though I had done the update with AT&T last night, it appears that it took a solid 5-6 hours for that update to apply.
The issue I had run into where it would ask me to "sign in" to the AT&T network, but kept redirecting me has resolved itself.
So for potential Korean G3 buyers on AT&T here in the states, remember to call AT&T and have them update your SIM card info to match up to your new IMEI. I had to deal with 6 awful phone support people, but finally landed on someone who knew what she was talking about when I had a chat session with a technical support agent. (The phone people were ridiculous saying I needed to buy a new data plan, or buy a new phone... ugh ::facepalm:: lol).
But after a solid day of rest and the IMEI update, I cannot be any happier... definitely an investment, but considering I buy phones off-contract every few years, this was a very reasonable buy (got it for $720 on ebay with shipping included)--my guess is that the phones off-contract here will run round the 649-699 price... assuming they charge a premium on LG's new flagship.
But as a side note... This phone is awesome! The screen is one of those things you just gotta see. Resolving pixels is difficult to my eyes, and I haven't done a side-by-side with a 1080p phone yet.

I don't have the phone yet; however, I have question for you, does your plan with AT&T includes an LTE service? I'm only asking that because you said that you were planning to use it on 3g only.

Did you try a different browser? Also does it happen on all sites?
Hi again
Thank you so much for your questions/replies!
mrfriday2010- Yes, I have a 10GB Data/unlimited texts and minutes. LTE coverage where I am at was spotty (we got it on one of their later rollouts). I am guessing I am accessing the AWS bands that would have supported the AT&T/T-Mobile deal... but that fell through.
daraj- Also Yes, the issue occurred on the default browser and chrome.

I know you have a 400s, I have a 400L and a LG Gpro2 "S" both of them get LTE voice and Data, some things to think about
do you have correct LTE sim card?
I have had the same issue and I fix it by turning off wifi then back on and it fixes it
for whatever reason the phone seems to have issue going from wifi to data, my GS5 does the same thing

Everything is all good on my F400S now . After AT&T updated my IMEI to match the new device, all is up and running (and also after about 6 hours of letting that update take effect in their systems).
Just weird though, its the first time I have had to do that. Back before the days of LTE, I was able to access 3G from my SIM without having to update IMEI info.
Thanks for your input though .
Also something I noticed about my F400S -- I thought it was interesting that underneath the back cover, towards the top of the phone, it shows F400 S/L. The phone is the S version (SK Telecom), but I am assuming the L version seems to work alright on AT&T as well maybe?

mine does too inside at the top, it says S/L, my box says L and my phone - under phone info says L I have found out that L an S have the same bands. My L works fine on LTE for AT&T but I never called them or changed my IMEI number.

Where are you guys purchasing you G3 from? Amazon or 28mobile?
I picked mine up on eBay. Got it in about a week from order date.
For those of you who got it working on AT&T: Did you just pop your SIM in and go, or did you have to manually create an APN?
I have an L model on the way and I was under the impression that I'd have to manually create an AT&T LTE APN in order for it to work properly. I'm currently on an LTE plan and using an LG G2. I swap sims all the time with no issue.

What model do you have? One of the reviewers were saying that worked for the S model, but not the L or K. That on the L and K model, you would have to create the APN manually.

Ah, yeah. See, the bloggers were saying that the S works out of the box, but the L and K have to have APNs created manually before they will hit AT&T LTE. I guess I'll find out in a few days.

Nah, I do it all the time. I was just curious if that was the experience other L/K users were having. It has been confirmed that all three models work on AT&T's LTE, so I'm not worried.
Hi, I'm trying to use an eSim only (without inserting a physical sim) on my pixel 6 pro on AT&T, however I cannot get it to work. When I say not get it to work, I mean with eSim only there is no cell signal and no data signal. Physical sim works fine on both signal and cellular service. If there's another Us AT&T pixel 6 pro user who's using only the eSIM for service please respond and let me know whether or not eSim only works for you. Thanks.
Not an AT&T user here, am using a European carrier, just from anecdotal perspective: I also use eSim only and never had an issue on my P6 Pro. So it appears to be something carrier related.
I remember that I had to activate my eSim, maybe you also have to do this? Did you try out the eSim/your contract before using this phone?

Yes, I tried 3 times with the help of AT&T and we couldn't get it to work. I'm going to return the device for a new replacement to see if that fixes this issue. Thanks for replying.

Before going through the hassle of returning the device for a potential fault - do you have a family member or friend, whose simcard/esim you could try out? That way you can find out if your phone truly has a defect or if its your contract/the specific esim. Of course you can always let them replace your device, but that will take a couple days, maybe there are faster ways to narrow the problem down.

i tried again today at another AT&T corp store and walked out of the store with it working as expected (wait till the end). the person helping did additional research on my issue and discovered the P6P shipped to me "was not activated" with the inserted physical sim (which i removed when i received the device). apparently, AT&T will park (or associate) a new device with a specific number when shipping to you vs. walking in to buy a device on an existing line. nonetheless, i'm going to return the phone because the data connection isn't working consistently; data is on and then after i go to website, data turns off. i'm probably going to send it back to AT&T next week.
Finally got the phone working, but will get an unlocked version later; this one is still going back to ATT.
I'm using an ESIM on AT&t and even originally got the phone My plan was to have a physical TracFone SIM card and my AT&t esim which is exactly what I had on my Pixel 5 and it worked great. Both SIM cards work great... when the other ones not active or inserted. It is impossible to use with both SIM cards like I did on my Pixel 5. Constant signal loss and the majority of the time. No signal at all. But as soon as I deactivate or remove a SIM card it starts working perfect.
I had a problem with provisioning eSim on my TMobile, well technically its sprint still, says tmobile esim but I am on sprint billing. Anyways, you need to maybe try to do it on another WiFi access point or something. I had issues with mine activating over Viasat2 satellite internet. I live in that area, its either LTE or satellite for internet. Had to tether to my work verizon phone to activate it on sprint/tmobile lol. If the connectivity to the esim server is not great, you'll split hairs until it is.

Exactly the same issue/behavior I had with my AT&T P6P on the AT&T network so I returned mine today. I'm contemplating a Fi version to see if it works for my use case.
I Searched the forum but could not find an answer. I have been out of the ROM game for a few years. I know what I did was ill advised, please be merciful
I bought a Verizon Pixel 6 Pro off of Facebook. I knew to check that the IMEI was not on the stolen list and verified that it was paid off, but I get en error when I put my Visible Sim card in the phone. It says "Sim card isn't supported. Ask Verizon if this device can be unlocked."

I called Verizon and the rep said that if I wait 60 days from the phone's original activation it should unlock automatically even though I don't have Verizon Service. The Rep said that I could use this device on Verizon Prepaid or regular service, but I have $5 months for referrals on Visible, that I would lose if I switched.
The Rep also said that you can request an unlock since the phone was paid off and IMEI was clear, but that I could not because in their system I was not the phone's owner. They could not tell me the date when the phone was activated because it would be a privacy issue.
I tried to work it out with the person I bought the phone from to get them to request the unlock, but got ghosted.
Questions:
1.) Does anyone know if it is true that my phone will unlock after 60 days without Verizon Service?
2.) If I put the phone on Verizon PrePaid service for 60 days, would that count as service and get it unlocked?
3.) If I activate on Verizon Prepaid or activate on no contract post paid will it take the last owner of the phone off of their "record" at Verizon so I can just request that the carrier lock be removed myself?
Thank you!
PS Once I get this figured out I will post what happened for anyone else that might run into this in the future.
As far as I was aware, all Verizon phones are carrier (erroneously called SIM) unlocked from the start. I've been away from Verizon for 5+ years, though, so that might've changed.
Note that just as has been said multiple times in multiple threads in this section (and every other possible phone section), that carrier unlock won't be the same as bootloader unlock, which will be impossible except by winning some kind of rare bootloader lottery, per se. (effectively never).
It's possible you don't want to unlock the bootloader since you only mention carrier unlocking, but I just wanted to head that part off just in case that's where you end up leading the conversation, so forgive me if I'm mistaken.
Hopefully, someone else with modern experience with Verizon can answer your two specific questions, however.

Having ROM'ed lots of phones years ago, it was my first though to be able to change it by modifying the bootloader and/or firmware. I quickly ruled that out with the search feature before posting. (bummer)
I do appreciate you pointing this out to keep this thread on track. I witnessed some of the other disasters in my searching.
Yeah it’s true Verizon locks their phone for 60 days to their network and then unlocks it automatically. I’m not exactly sure if the device has to be continuously active though to be unlocked but I know that it had to be activated and used on their network to start the timer.
What you can try doing is to use online unlock services like drsim and try to get in unlocked with imei number. It’s not free but it might be worth it if you don’t wanna wait.
Is the 60 day unlock based on network checks? Or is it something really stupid like based on the system DATE? Might be worth trying to set the clock ahead and see if that fixes it.

I'm not sure if its based on network checks or something else. I did try to set the date ahead (2 months and a few days out) and it gave me the same message with the Visible sim card.

Yeah it sucks about the locked bootloader and junk but google won't exchange it for me even though the order say unlocked and I have this.
Because it's past 15 days.
Anyway I had to call vzw like 50 time only to be told 49 times if I don't have an account we can't help you bye. It took 7 hours of calling.
I finally got them to give me a complementary esim to unlock it and now it's ok

That's ridiculous... they don't have a choice, 15 days or not unless you are not saying something relevant to the story.
If you ordered A and they shipped B... they have to fix it. Dispute the charge with your credit card company if needed.

Did you ever figure this out? I bought a used s22+, checked with 4 different Verizon reps and they said they phone is unlocked. But of course I cant use it on another network (have tried on MintMobile which is Tmobile now). It just says "this phone cant be activated on another network"
