probably easy fix, but could you help me?

hey guys i have a few questions and things i need help with
first, what i'm running
at&t tilt 2 (you know...a touch pro 2)
htc official rom with sense 2.5 ( the new one...i think the newest, havent checked in a while)
and i have a few problems with my phone
1. i want to change the settings icon on the start menu to NOT go to the sense settings...if i wanted that HTC i would go to the damn settings tab on the home screen...since thats all the shortcut does anyway...sorry to you guys, it just seems stupid that they changed it.
but yeah i want it to go the the original settings
2. ive done some things to my phone that have...well...f***ed it up
firstly, installing the energy 23*** march 9 2010 series rom...no offense to nrg, but it totally ****ed my phone, because the problems dont go away with a new rom and hard resetting, for one, i cant use speakerphone...it just mutes me, and other problems, like, if i have headpones in and someone calls, if i answer, then i am muted to the other person, then i have to call them back, and if i try to take out the headphones because they cant hear me...it is still muted anyway...and it used to work right before the energy rom, same with every problem i have (except the settings thing) and also when i have headpones in, sometimes it only ring out of the headpones, so if i dont have them on at the time, and they are still plugged in, i wont hear it ring
also, sometimes during the night my phone will freeze while it sits there, and because i use it as an alarm....really frusturating when it doesnt go off, again, since i installed the rom, but happening more often since i put android on here (the recent build freezes all the time anyway, not worth it...yet)
an example would be this morning when i need to get up for college and it doesnt go off...
umm...what else...oh yea...it always happens...either the startbar freezes and kinda goes away...or sense does and this is very annoying since i have to soft reset all the time, and especially since it wont even let me turn sense off because the settings wont work because sense isnt working and cleanram doesnt work for that either
sorry if im coming off as angry im just...well...angry, but its just so frusturating with all these problems just from a rom
now a question...
will these problems go away if i install stock rom and hard reset? because i have official rom and hard reset and it didnt change anything
i love this new rom, its great, but it has the problems from the energy rom still, and its not the rom, its just registry entries or something that a hard reset wont fix...but i dont see why a new rom wont fix it, but anyway, sorry for all the writing, but im bored waiting for my class to start

run Task29. Look for it in the rom development section. This will clean you're phone memory and that will resolve most of you're problems. Then install the rom of you're choice.

thanx, and do you know of anything that will change the settings shortcut back to the original?

You man that shortcut that takes you to Sense settings instead of the Windows Mobile one?

exactly, with the only way of going into the windows mobile settings by going through the sense settings, so if sense is frozen or just not working, no way to go into settings...dumb

In the registry go to [HKLM\Security\Shell\Startinfo]
and change the value for "HideSettings" from 1 to 0.
Then remove the link to HTC Settings for "Windows\Start Menu\Programs".
After a soft reset, you'll have a default settings link.

phone sense UI keeps force closing.

just uninstalled some apps and now my desire keeps restarting the sense saying "the application HTC sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectadley.please try again. phone is now useless even using an app killer on sense it just restarts and round in circles i go. now unable to use any function of the phone has any one encountered this and can help?

reinstalling all the removed application hasn't changed a thingh - keeps crashing
I tought the problem might have been with either some LCOALE plug-in that where still in some profiles o Beautiful Widget that where still on some screen but reinstalling them makes no difference
Hard reset is the only option i can see at the moment

I've encountered his yesterday when I tried to switch to another Scene.
Anyway, I found a way around this without having to hard reset.
Everytime you see the force close button, tap it. But all the while, spam the hardware search key until the search bar shows up. Type the first few letters for "Applications". You should be able to access the Applications settings menu. Go into "Manage applications". Go into "HTC Sense" and tap "Clear data". This will erase all your Scenes but it's better than doing a hard reset.

I got to the applications but "manage application" would force close as well - so I searched for settings and was able to get to "Personalize" and "Change the Scenes" to the "Clean State" (probably any othe default scene would have worked as well) and stopping the FC loop -
that leades me to belive the problem was probably caused by beautiful widged being uninstalled (it was my clock)

The easiest solution to this type of problem is to go into safe mode.
Power down the device, and then power on again whilst holding down Menu, and keep Menu held down until the device is fully booted.
You will now be in safe mode (it will say safe mode in the bottom left corner), which prevents all 3rd party apps and widgets from running.
You can then uninstall/delete or whatever.

well I'm having the same problem again ....
I probably got a bit over confident knowing that a safe mode existed and tried to switch to a saved screen configuration that still included the BW clock and the loop started all over again but now - even after deleting all the custom scenes - even choosing the clean slate scene doesn't help
if I go in SafeMode it still FC the sense UI and reboots the device.....
and "Manage Application" was FC even before when everything also was working
I feel like I'm back using WinMobile phones :-(

even after killing all the running processes it still do the same FC loop - I'll guess there are no other option but to HR
what will I lose by doing-it? and what is the best procedure to use?

thanks for the link chesterdob but that solution was already posted by ohyeahar (look at post #3) and in my case doesn't work becouse "manage applications" causes a FC of it's own

[Q] GPS on FK23

Hello all! Just curious if anyone else is having GPS issues with stock FK23? I was having problems in the past with my GPS but now it seems completely dead. Right after I updated to JB tonight the GPS worked perfectly. It locked on immediately and was able to load stuff extremely quick. Then after about an hour of fooling with the phone I went to update my weather and nothing... tried navigation and nothing... I downloaded GPS Status to check things out and it just keeps searching, it can't pick up anything.
Any suggestions/thoughts/ideas?

see if "use internal gps" is ticked.. try ticking/unticking and force close any gps app and reopen app or reboot.

oh shoot... stock, nvmd but go to location settings and give a shot to checking and unchecking everything anyway. Can't hurt.

Hello xda community, utter n00bie here, but I have done a lot of reading/searching/researching for quite some time.
Last night finally broke loose and rooted my AT&T i317 Note 2, flashed Scott's Clean ROM 1.5 SE, and Andrey's Perseus kernel for some overclocking.
I was hoping this would get fixed with the new Clean ROM, but it hasn't so that's why I need your guys help.
I searched the forum and found some other ppl having similar (yet different) issues but haven't really found a solution or cause for this issue on the forum.
Things that I've noticed revert back to defaults every time I reboot the phone:
SwiftKey reverts back to stock Samsung keyboard (Extremely annoying.. but I've found on forums that some ppl got around this by "freezing" the Samsung keyboard using Titanium... don't know if that's a solution or a temp fix =/ )
System Options -> Developer Options -> Limit background processes -> goes back to "Standard Limit" from "4 processes at most" I have found by keeping "4 processes at most" keeps my battery alive A LOT longer and does not negatively affect phone's stability. But every time I reboot the phone its annoying how this settings reverts back to the default "Standard Limit" which allows all apps to run in background.
My Camera and Video recorder shortcuts go back to defaults. In Camera Mode, there is an Option "Edit Shortcuts" and you can change Scene Mode, ISO, Metering...well all these go back to defaults when I reboot. Also very annoying.
Anybody know why this is happening? A way to fix this?

i have the same issue with my droid charge.. camera "review" setting gets checked.. notification goes to "droid" default.. i have to resign in to outlook.. crap.. utter crap..
i haven't found any technical explanation yet.. i'm guessing a wipe and re-rom.

Quick Memo+ Quick Toggle won't stay away.

Hey,
I keep unchecking quick memo + in the quick settings for the toggles. It comes back every once and a while though usually after a restart. Why? It never used to do this before I did a factory reset and now it does... I am rooted but no custom rom. Just wanted to remove bloat.
Help? I tried googling this but I can't figure out anything. Idk if I am not searching the right terms or what. I just want it to stay away.

try freezing it with titanium backup
