Note 2 defaults after reboot - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello xda community, utter n00bie here, but I have done a lot of reading/searching/researching for quite some time.
Last night finally broke loose and rooted my AT&T i317 Note 2, flashed Scott's Clean ROM 1.5 SE, and Andrey's Perseus kernel for some overclocking.
I was hoping this would get fixed with the new Clean ROM, but it hasn't so that's why I need your guys help.
I searched the forum and found some other ppl having similar (yet different) issues but haven't really found a solution or cause for this issue on the forum.
Things that I've noticed revert back to defaults every time I reboot the phone:
SwiftKey reverts back to stock Samsung keyboard (Extremely annoying.. but I've found on forums that some ppl got around this by "freezing" the Samsung keyboard using Titanium... don't know if that's a solution or a temp fix =/ )
System Options -> Developer Options -> Limit background processes -> goes back to "Standard Limit" from "4 processes at most" I have found by keeping "4 processes at most" keeps my battery alive A LOT longer and does not negatively affect phone's stability. But every time I reboot the phone its annoying how this settings reverts back to the default "Standard Limit" which allows all apps to run in background.
My Camera and Video recorder shortcuts go back to defaults. In Camera Mode, there is an Option "Edit Shortcuts" and you can change Scene Mode, ISO, Metering...well all these go back to defaults when I reboot. Also very annoying.
Anybody know why this is happening? A way to fix this?
Thanks guys

ditto here..
i have the same issue with my droid charge.. camera "review" setting gets checked.. notification goes to "droid" default.. i have to resign in to outlook.. crap.. utter crap..
i haven't found any technical explanation yet.. i'm guessing a wipe and re-rom.

[Q] various problems. Car Mode and Force Closing everything.

Love my epic, but I've been having problems for a month or more now. Not sure which section this belongs in, but I'm posting it here because I'm looking for answers.
Problem 1-
Phone randomly enters "car mode", doesn't always give me the option to disable it and even when it does, if I click disable it often stays in car mode (all calls go to speakerphone, phone won't rotate). The problem has followed me through 3 ROMs and now to 100% stock, nonrooted gingerbread pushed from sprint. Is there anyway to uninstall this "feature"? I've done some searching but haven't found a solid answer. Its gotten bad enough that now, during a phone call, it will enter and leave car mode multiple times. Enabling and disabling speakerphone during the call.
Problem 2-
For awhile my phone was force closing Everything. Things like "Android Core System Process" and "Google Framework Services" along with any app I attempted to launch. It started while I was running ViperRom(most recent release) and kinda came and went. Would be ok for awhile after I restored from my initial backup. Finally became unlivable so I tried the SyndicateRom(with genocid kernel) and the problem continued to come and go. Finally got to the point that a brand new install of syndicate, after full system wipe wouldn't fix it so I returned to 100% stock and it hasn't come back yet. I imagine it could be corrupt system ram? But I couldn't find a ram tester. Id really like to go back to Syndicate, so any help would be nice.
Thank you
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
x2 with problem #2 here. wiped and reflashed srf 1.2 3 times now in the past 2 months and eventually the "Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps)" force close message comes back.
WTF?
#1 iis baffling , for #2 you've probably already tried this but "fixing" permissions.usually does the trick with FC's. Good Luck

[Q] ATT One X Display Phone - Strange Issue

I'm very keen on buying this phone tomorrow and was in the ATT corporate store and found a very strange issue on the live display unit. Everytime I opened any app and hit the home button it would take about 5~7 seconds before showing the home screen. I tried playing with the settings but it did not help. I also restarted the phone but the issue still persisted. I new to android platform (coming from iPhone) and looked at the setting (related to personalize). After talking to the ATT rep he mentioned that few folks have also complained about it but was not sure why this happens. He then suggested that they will return this unit so battery can be replaced or we can reset the phone to factory settings. I took his permission and attempted the reset After reboot the phone worked normally with absolutely no lag.
Q1. Is this a known issue? Are folks with this phone experiencing this after a extended time of use. Does anybody know what this lag might be due? Any specific wallpaper causes this lag. I tried changing wallpaper but it did not help
I really want to get this phone but if the above issue is rampant then I want to hold off buying it tomorrow.
BTW: I tried buying it today at target (mobile store managed by radio shack) they were ready to sell and went thru the upgrade process but just before the last screen it blocked them from selling (radio shack corporate policy) cannot sell the phone today but will sell it tomorrow.
Settings -> Developer options -> Don't keep activities.
Some people have had to switch it on, come out of options, go back and switch it off. (the tick was incorrectly cleared, whilst the option was on)
thanks
Thank u for your feedback. Can u elaborate on what caused it? Sorry from your feedback I could not figure out the cause.
From what you described (7 second delay coming back to sense) it's not a lag (or sense crashing as some have described it). It's sense reloading.
The Android UI is based on activities, they stack, and the history is typically kept, until Android decides to kill an activity, usually due to low memory available. If activities are not kept, they have to reload from scratch.
Since Android can take away a previous activity at any stage, the developer must save its state when transitioning to a new activity. By not keeping activities, it's easier to test that each activity is correctly saving its state.

[Q] need HELP resetting app start-up permissions (corruption?).. am now desperate

I have found NO info on my problem. I flashed cm7 to my EVO a couple years ago and I tweaked settings in menus a rookie shouldnt have been in. I used auto-starts to stop user & system apps from starting up and for whatever reason when i flash a new ROM it reverts start-up permissions back to my customized settings & not the factory specs. It isnt even every single setting I adjusted. Its a specific few apps & after flashing a new ROM I can get the permissions to stay clean allowing start-ups on all but two that i am aware of. The apps that, im aware of, the start-up permissions system default is turning them off after a new rom flash are Amazon(3or4 permissions Xrossed out), Dialer(1x), Email(1or2x) FM radio(1x), calender storage(3x), market updater(1x), the orginal market(1x) the current Play store(1or2x), Google services framework(1x), & I think thats all of the ones that i can adjust to start-up in an auto-start manager app after a new ROM flash following a reboot and the permissions staying clean & not Xrossed out. Then there's my 2 NIGHTMARES, GOOGLE 1 TIME INITIAL(1x) & GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES(7X). The auto-start permissions for these 2 apps will NOT stay adjusted to on after any new ROM flash or reboot or hot boot following their permissions reset.. One of the (corrupted maybe?) auto-start permissions that wont reset for Google Play Services is connectivity, meaning changes in signal connection(e.g. wifi, 3g, airplane mode) &/or plugged-in charging and un-plugging the phone. In turn, when I plug-in my EVO to charge, things get extremely buggy. U/I jumps & absolutely arrogant acts of erratic behavior. Touch points on the screen don't match up. Choppy animations. Apps begin to respond like they have consumed all of the resources available and if I am lucky they just lag ,on average, 5 seconds behind & many just finally give up and force close. However, once I un-plug my EVO things assume a 90-95% stable activity with "almost" no sign of any previous problems. I have tried every combo of wiping, mounting/unmounting, settings on/off, booting, & flashing I could think of trying to fix this problem. i flashed sense based ROMs and AOSP ROMs as well as stock builds along with every kernel combo xda had available.. I was CONSUMED for 20 straight hours this past Friday alone in this mess. Over the last 6 days Ive invested over 100 hours in tweaking setting combos along with wipe, mount/unmount & flash combos. Please hElp, I just want my EVO to recognize its own "Roots" again. L2ms... The Nand backups I did 3 years ago at the pinnacle, of this misery my EVO lives in, are on a hard drive that is LONG gone.. I am capable enough to know where the answer to my situation rests.. It surely will NOT come from a noob, nor will it not come from a mildly talented android user or any mediocre devel, It wont even come from a trained android tech. System UI Not Responding

Does anyone else get intermittent freezing where the entire phone becomes unresponsive for like 30 seconds? It's not affecting any specific apps, but it does seem to happen often when I'm pressing the home or back button on the navigation bar. Also happens when pressing send in messaging apps. Sometimes it results in ANR, other times it will unfreeze without giving a crash dialog.
Could it possibly be tied to battery optimization and putting apps in deep sleep? I've had this problem on both my Note 10+ and S20 Ultra. Did not have an issue on my Note 8.
Steps taken to remedy situation (but did not fix the problem):
Factory reset
Clear partition cache
Running phone in safe mode (worked, but did not help with determining exact problem)
Setting battery settings to High Performance
Wiping app caches
Stopped using SwiftKey (but still seeing crashes on Samsung Keyboard and Gboard)
Unchecked "Put unused apps to sleep"
Unchecked "Adaptive Battery" setting
YES. This has been happening to me for 6 months now and its trying me crazy. On my ATT Note 20 Ultra. Even after factory reset it eventually came back. I feel like its a hardware problem to be honest because it seems to happy when the CPU or Memory is overloaded or working hard. For example, 2 times I can make it happen is when I update 10+ apps from the playstore and try to do anything else, or when I first turn on my phone and its launching all the startup apps.
Not sure what to do, maybe get a replacement from Samsung or ATT? Just hate having to format yet again.
On thing that did help is yesterday I bought the cloud version of Samsung Package Disabler (i bought these thing like 4 times over the years but thats another story) and I disabled 50 apps that I dont need to run but I dont like the hassle of uninstalling and then reinstalling and the passwords etc. Anyways it def has lessened the issue. Which again is why I think its a hardware problem. Since I lessened the apps running in the background it has lessened the issue.
Anyways if you have any updates on your end please let me know, thanks!

Android 10 update now force closes all my background apps

Hello everyone, i've been experiencing this problem for a while now: every time i put an app in the background (swipe up on gesture / middle button in traditional), Android immediately closes it for me. I keep seeing in the list of open apps (long swipe up on gesture / square key in traditional) the apps I should have in the background but as soon as I open them it's like I'm starting them for the first time, not saving anything I was doing before. So far i've been able to live with it, but now I can't postpone this problem anymore.
What i tried so far:
Restarted the phone several time
Turned off adaptive battery and battery optimization
Turned off energy saving
Didn't touch anything in the developer settings
And i got another issue probably linked to this one: in the GMail app, the notifications for multiple accounts only works to the account you are viewing, not to the others. (Example: If i'm connected to two accounts, A and B, and i'm viewing B's emails, if i receive an email on A's account the notification won't work. If i receive the email on B's account while i'm viewing A's emails, it won't work either).
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Just in case you want to know i'm currently on 11.0.5.0 build.
EDIT 2: Link to my reply with a possible solution to the application issue: LINK

Xiaomi team for our device is at fault. If you want the best android experience you should buy Pixel phones.
I'm also having this problem. Seems that restart helps a bit for some time but not for long. It is really an awful experience to use the phone like this. Having the 4 GB version.
It's the first time that I'll complain about this phone! But the use is unbearable now! I have the 4gb version too! I hope the next update fixes things
As far as I know, this problem is common on our device. If the next update isn't going to fix it, then I'm switching to a custom ROM. HavocOS, RebelOS or LineageOS 17.1.
Never had this problem before but is indeed the first time I'm also considering a custom Rom too!
If you're rooted you can fix this using LSpeed app
Hello again, i apologize for being away for a while, but i had personal problems.
I just wanted to reply to my own thread because today i updated to 11.0.7.0 build, but they don't seem to have solved anything? The changelog says only
Optimization: Increased system stability. Reduced system lag

(other than June Security Patch). I'm reading the replies now, and i have to tell you that (currently) i can't root or install a Custom Rom because it would conflict with my bank's application.
So, once again, no support from Xiaomi... but the great news is that i may have found a solution for the application problem! I will link this reply to the main post, so you can find it more easily, let me know if it works for you too!
What i did:
Disabled Adaptive Battery under "Settings -> Battery ->Adaptive Battery"
Disabled Night brightness (also the plannings)
Disabled Do Not Disturb (also the plannings)
Disabled Rest mode (if any)
Rebooted the phone
Try it out with two application, and if you want to reactivate some features after the reboot, i discovered that "Adaptive Battery" creates problems only after some days since it's turned on, so i suggest to keep it disabled. For the other settings, i can't confirm anything because i haven't tried yet, so let me know.
Thanks
Finaly it worked. :good:
I was searching for this problem for a long time.
Your solution worked with me.
I want to say:
I already jave disabled adaptive battery, Night brightness and Don't disturb mode. But only Recovery mode I needed to disable it, then I rebooted the phone.
Now I can switch between applications, and no application have been closed.
Thank you
what recovery mode do you think?where can I find it? thanks
