hey guys i have a few questions and things i need help with
first, what i'm running
at&t tilt 2 (you know...a touch pro 2)
htc official rom with sense 2.5 ( the new one...i think the newest, havent checked in a while)
and i have a few problems with my phone
1. i want to change the settings icon on the start menu to NOT go to the sense settings...if i wanted that HTC i would go to the damn settings tab on the home screen...since thats all the shortcut does anyway...sorry to you guys, it just seems stupid that they changed it.
but yeah i want it to go the the original settings
2. ive done some things to my phone that have...well...f***ed it up
firstly, installing the energy 23*** march 9 2010 series rom...no offense to nrg, but it totally ****ed my phone, because the problems dont go away with a new rom and hard resetting, for one, i cant use speakerphone...it just mutes me, and other problems, like, if i have headpones in and someone calls, if i answer, then i am muted to the other person, then i have to call them back, and if i try to take out the headphones because they cant hear me...it is still muted anyway...and it used to work right before the energy rom, same with every problem i have (except the settings thing) and also when i have headpones in, sometimes it only ring out of the headpones, so if i dont have them on at the time, and they are still plugged in, i wont hear it ring
also, sometimes during the night my phone will freeze while it sits there, and because i use it as an alarm....really frusturating when it doesnt go off, again, since i installed the rom, but happening more often since i put android on here (the recent build freezes all the time anyway, not worth it...yet)
an example would be this morning when i need to get up for college and it doesnt go off...
umm...what else...oh yea...it always happens...either the startbar freezes and kinda goes away...or sense does and this is very annoying since i have to soft reset all the time, and especially since it wont even let me turn sense off because the settings wont work because sense isnt working and cleanram doesnt work for that either
sorry if im coming off as angry im just...well...angry, but its just so frusturating with all these problems just from a rom
now a question...
will these problems go away if i install stock rom and hard reset? because i have official rom and hard reset and it didnt change anything
i love this new rom, its great, but it has the problems from the energy rom still, and its not the rom, its just registry entries or something that a hard reset wont fix...but i dont see why a new rom wont fix it, but anyway, sorry for all the writing, but im bored waiting for my class to start

run Task29. Look for it in the rom development section. This will clean you're phone memory and that will resolve most of you're problems. Then install the rom of you're choice.

You man that shortcut that takes you to Sense settings instead of the Windows Mobile one?
exactly, with the only way of going into the windows mobile settings by going through the sense settings, so if sense is frozen or just not working, no way to go into settings...dumb

In the registry go to [HKLM\Security\Shell\Startinfo]
and change the value for "HideSettings" from 1 to 0.
Then remove the link to HTC Settings for "Windows\Start Menu\Programs".
After a soft reset, you'll have a default settings link.

First and foremost I should note that I tried searching the forums but I was not entirely sure what to search for. I tried a few different queries and they yielded negligible results for my issue. Now, onto my issue:
8525 with wm6 black 3.01
I have my 8525/hermes/tytn/etc/ set to turn the device off after 3 minutes of inactivity in order to preserve battery life. Sometimes, this poses no issues and I can just hit the power button to turn it back on when I need to. Other times however, and perhaps more frequent, I press the power button and nothing happens. Try as I might and regardless of how many times I press the damned button, it will not turn on. I have to use my stylus to do a soft reset in order to have my phone back in operation. Needless to say, this has gotten very annoying. I have since turned that feature off but now my battery drains far too quickly.
Is this a known issue or has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, is there a fix for this? If not, would ATT accept my phone for a warranty exchange with this greymarket software on it? If not, can I just flash it with an official ATT image and then send it in? Thanks.
It's called Sleep of Death... SOD... I had it and I flashed the official AT&T rom and havent had it since.

How many apps do you have running. Where are they installed also. I currently run Black Majik, and NEVER have the SoD, or soft reset, so I think it's the stuff you put in your device that may be causing this. Flashing a new ROM wont always solve this, since you and I have the same phone, I think it's what you put in that may cause this.

running? usually just whatever program I have opened since I have it set up to completely escape the program when I X out. As far as where things are installed, everything is installed on my device sans iGo.. However, this issue arised prior to iGo being put on my SD card.
Try this. After a hard reset, load one app to your device, let it sit, test it, and then do another. take your time. See if something you load is causing this. I did a HR on mine cause I had tons of crap on there, loaded stuff slowly and noticed the ButtonFlo CAB is what screwed my ROM from working good, so got rid of it. Since then, its awesome.
Leave the Black and go with JJ's Majik. Is the only ROM to date that hasn't SOD'ed me ... and I run the same apps, the same way, on all the ROM's.

I read a lot of threads regarding the problem, i tried AT&T and same problem, others had it with black, now i am having it with latest LVSW, may be a software problem, i had it using SPB WEATHER and SPB TIME, i hard reset install all but them, worked fine for two days, installed TWEAK2K2, problem came back, now trying without TWEAK2K2, but i doubt problem can be solved
My Opinion
been running through threads all over, just found out that there is no solution, because when a program pushes the unit to wake up from standby it freezes, this program can be weather, alarm, mail, active sync, and even a CALL can cause this, so it's a permanent bug in wm6 and PPC :-(
im sorry Admins if wasn't supposed to create a new thread for this subject, but its ma first thread.
Everytime you do a soft reset after loading a few applications on, e.g. real player, pim back up, tomtom, tcpmp, etc, the device does not load up. you have to do a hard reset, no mata how long you leave it. This is not just apparent on my device but a couple of others i have tested with. Couple of times when you soft reset, you may get away wid it, but eventually it will crash.
It worked fine when i first installed it and didnt have the need to soft reset it in the first few days, but eventually when i did, thats when i had the trouble. Since then i must have done 10 hard resets, reloaded the ROM on again still the same. like i said not just this device, but a ma brothers and ma frends device.
Ive had to revert back to the o2 ROM, because the last thing i want whilst im out and about, is to have to do a soft reset and it does not load and then have to end up doing hard reset. Not Ideal.
Hope Tom Can fix this issue for the next release.
if anyone else having same issue and has fixed it, let us know.

I had this problem 3 times, this time i removed everything in traylaunch (and removed the check to enable traylaunch) and it seems to have stopped it - over 9 days since now.
Also, haven't got batterystatus to overclock after reboot, just in case.
i have tried it without tray launch and the problem was still evident.. in anycase, i like the tray launch feature, so it wud be good to keep that there. with the 3 devices i tested it on, it semms to happen after installing a couple of applications. i realy like the features of the ROM, its just a shame it gets stuck after a soft reset.
TOM if ur out there, the n please respond with any advice, or whether ur gna have a fix
after reading feedback from other users, it does seem as the problem is with quite a few ppl, if not everyone. it seems to be the fact that this ROM does not like other applications being installed. without any applications it works fine, but as soon as you install something it goes dead.
i have no reverted back to o2 ROM. which is working great, but is just boring... lol
i must apologise 'Furbious' as you were right. it was tray launcher causing the problem... i have since re-installed b&b 4.0 took tick out of tray launcher and it works a treat...

it happen to me several times as i finish a phone call and go back to the Today screen but on the left top corner still display the title "phone".and i cant press it to open the start menu when im at the Today screen not even the start key works.try hold down the power button to shut down but no luck.but everything still works at the Today screen (weather,music plug-in etc)
had to soft reset it.anyone have this problem as well?or is it a radio problem?

I use this rom with 1.51 radio till the rom is issued. I never had to soft reset because the rom crashed. The only really annoying issue i had is the bluetooth's one (Time to time, it is impossible to reactivate bluetooth without SR. This is why i do not desactivate it anymore ). We can always argue on choices, taste and colors but this rom is quite stable and fast enough for what i do.
EDIT: BTW check also which applications you have loaded. Did you reinstall a backup done with SPB after coming from another rom? I experienced many problems with that. Even if not pretty, i always reinstall now all my applications after installing a new rom (and i use pimbackup for calendar, contacts,... infos)

I don't agree with that the ROM issue after call. Your deveice may be has some problem. What about bluetooth yes, there is some interesting moment that you select open bluetooth, it doesn't open, as soon as you mark to open you should restart your deveice, then it starts with opened bluetooth. BUt when you are going to turn the bluetooth off there is no problem.
I'm sure, Schap as a great moderator will solve this problems in next generation of his ROMs. The variation 3.60a (has posted), may be 3.60b, then 3.60c may be. Or he will post something interesting like Iphone platform.(I want him to do it)

I have the same problem too, what I have discover is that during the call and the screen is off (either it off automatically after a time or you press the power button) then anytime you power on the screen again in between the call or after the call in a short time the problem tiggered.
the only way you can 'fix' it is to wait until call end then off and on your screen once then the 'start menu' back or wait for an amount of time until the phone lock tigger (that one with number pad)
I said 'fix' (with quote) because this definitely a temporary solution to deal with this problem
hope schaps can get more idea in how to trigger the problem and can fix this soon
other than this issue, the rom is really very great

To the OP,
If you are using a Hermes I suggest you reflash from scratch ie Schaps ver 3.6 rom, then use radio rom version 1.47.10..
Install ALL your applications from scratch, manually. DO NOT restore from a previous backup using, say SPB Backup; that will screw your installation. Make sure all your apps are the latest versions, capable of running under WM6.
Preferably install one app at a time, as you would anyway, then test the phone and make sure it is working before installing another app, and so on.
Don't install a theme changer or other similar software until you are absolutely sure your installation works. Leave the performance parameter settings as they are, ie at default.
If all else fails use the ROM combination in my signature below. Rock solid installation, no problems or crashes.

No BT Issue till now
I use BT also with DrYAR-Bluetooth 1.6 (Whoopy!) No Issues at all either starting or Stopping BT

Did I mention that this rom Is even FASTER than the previous 3.5x?

I didnt have the bluetooth turn on just using it normally.and all application i install is fresh onto the phone memory.never install any program on the SD card.about the dialer skin i use Schen Kaiser 3G dialer.
Anyone got fix yet?

I've had this same issue for weeks now, ever since the newer ROMs have come out for the official releases (i'll have to track back the build numbers). I had it with Sleuth's last release, the vp3G 3.0 release, and now Schap's 3.60. I've done what other posters have said and hard reset, not loaded any apps, and still have the issue.
I believe I have tracked it down to do with X-button, as that's one of the few apps that is installed without customizations in both Sleuth and vp3G (and I run it in Schap 3.60a). My next step is to run vp3G 3.60 lite, without X-button, and see if that really solves my problem.

As a follow-up, I went to VP3G 3.60.1 install, ran the base install with nothing else installed and still had the problem. Still, the workaround suggested by others (putting the phone in standby and coming out) fixes the issue for me.
It isn't a perfect phone. I've had it crash 3 times after having it for 10 days. It's the same type of crash too, the screen just becomes nonfunctional and I have to pull the battery out to restart the device. The phone does not freeze, the time and incoming calls all work, but I just cannot accept any calls or dial or do anything with the touch screen because it refuses to listen Not sure why it happens but I'm curious to see if people have had this kind of problem and or know of a resolution.

Stock T-Mobile rom. I have installed several games and the FM Radio cab, that is all
i think it is not a hardware problem it must be because of something u loaded.try a hard reset. i have t mobile tp2 no problem. i have loaded volpad application, lots of bugs happened. after removing everything was ok. remove one by one and after each make a soft reset. u will solve it. good luck...
I had the exact same problem. My device would think off and on that I had my headphones plugged into it because the headphone icon would appear. Therefore I couldn't hear anything. I finally took my phone to Sprint and they replace it with a new one. They must all have a defect or something. I tried the soft reset, hard reset, and wiping the device. Nothing worked. Not even tech support could figure it out (which isn't surprising, but whatever).

id give it a hard reset and see whats up, some games can lock up ya phone, like the game majong... thats mess my wifes phone up and freeze it if ya dont exit properly.....

Hi everyone, just got a used TouchPro2 (GSM), after my Xperia X1 got runned over by a car.
I searched the forum, however I was unable to find a cure. The problem is that it works normally for a while, than suddenly it decides to go nuts - First it starts by refusing to launch any application (you can go into the menu or sense). After a reboot, it doesn't start several times (keeps stuck on the Touch Pro2 screen for a couple of times, than several times on the orange windows logo screen). Aftr a multiple tries (removing the battery to reboot), it finally loads into the OS, but it has hard reseted by itself - no settings, no contacts, nothing.
It did it with the rom that it came, so i naturally thought that it was from there. Switched to kalimeho lite rom from here, but to no avail - same **** happens again.
Anyone has any ideas? Or maybe recommend a stable tested rom (i'm not into eye candy).

I have an ATT Tilt2...I can assure you the tp2 is a very nice device, and capable of a lot of things....so congrats on getting a quality replacement phone....
My advice would be to task 29 and install the stock rom just to dial it in back to what it should be, to see if everything works correctly.....PS...my experience with the stock roms are to turn off TF3D/Sense...since the phone hasnt been tweaked that UI is a bit slower than I'd like...the Chefs here cook it up to run nicely but stock is just too slow for my likeing...you can turn it off by going to start>settings.today>items...then click windows default..
See if the phone runs correctly then....
After that....if you want a kick ass stable stock rom, there's WCX's Illuminati ROMS (choose your flavor of messenger type and such)...he puts a lot of time and focus into us TP2 users who want stable, fast stock set ups and they're tried and proven with testing before releasing....Energy Roms are good if you want eye candy that works as well...those are two Chefs whose Roms are the only ones I use and are familiar with and I've never had issues with bugs on eithers Roms....I'd install their stuff anytime without question
