LG G4 Rear Camera option disappeared - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, i have searched everywhere and i couldnt find anything for LG G4 with this problem, there are shuck problems with different models.
Days ago i replaced my LG G4 screen with a new one and the camera had the focusing problem at first. after i reseated the flex cable of it everything was ok forone hour.
After a restart of the phone the rear camera option has desappeared, only front camera is working now.
I have read people had the same problem with LG G3, Nexus and even other brands as Alcatel Motorola and so on.
Does anyone had the same problem, and if can confirm that is software or hardware problem.

LG G4 camera broke, had to replace. Anyone else?

Verizon VS-986 here.
A couple of days ago, I went into the Camera app to take a picture and it was "stuck" on the selfie camera, and the icon to switch to the main camera was gone. I went back to the home screen and back into Camera, and fiddled with the Modes, and it finally came back. I clicked on it, and the app showed an image for a couple seconds, then froze up. I did a lot of back and forth with it, and sometimes it would show an image for a second and freeze; sometimes it went totally black and froze the app; eventually, after power cycling a few times, it was stuck on the front-facing camera for good, with no icon to swap to the back camera. Basically, at this point, the app had recognized that there WAS NO back camera and didn't even bother presenting the option anymore.
This had all the hallmarks of a hardware problem. Glitchy, intermittent outages, then the hardware simply not recognized anymore. Still, I cleared out caches and searched online and found this article: How to Fix Camera Failed Problem on LG G4 (recomhub.com/blog/how-to-fix-camera-failed-problem-on-lg-g4/), none of which did anything to help. (I'm not rooted/unlocked so I couldn't clear the cache partition like they recommended, though it clearly wouldn't have helped anyway.)
Couple other things that may or may not be relevant: it was VERY hot out (80+ degrees) when then problem started and the phone was hot as a result of it. But it kept happening after cool down.
A crazy other thing that happened was, that evening, after rebooting one last time just to be sure, half the screen turned into rainbow noise during the Verizon logo and stayed that way for several seconds, even into the lock screen. That pushed me over the edge.
I went to a Verizon store and they kindly swapped it out for me. But that was weird and I wanted to put it on the record. Also curious whether anyone else had this problem.
Not that problem, but check out this other thread I started regarding the camera causing the phone to overheat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3142806

I've had the rainbow noise on the right half of the screen show up on boot at the Verizon screen as well. It stayed that way until the lock screen and that's when I powered the phone off, pulled the battery and let the sit for a few minutes. Haven't had the problem in the weeks since I've had the phone though.
The exact thing happened to me. My rear camera will not work at all. And the flashlight also will not work. Tried rebooting, factory resetting it, clearing cache, and took out my battery and still nothing.
I had a Verizon G4 that the rear camera stopped working on. I believe it was caused by a drop. I posted on here about it. For mine it just wouldn't focus anymore. Replacement was very easy, you only need a small Philips head screwdriver, and your fingernail, or plastic tool to remove the connector and pry the camera out which is held in by adhesive.
Replacement OEM part out of a Sprint G4 was under $14 USD on eBay.

Hello,
I have the exact same issue. Do you have a solution ? I dont want to rma anymore, screen coating than bootloop than this, this phone is a true disaster.
Only other thing any one could try is a tot lgup restore if that dont work either more than likely its a hardware failure. I had issues on my g2 with a could not connect to camera from the factory. Found out my stock rom was corrupted from lg toted and worked like new. Did it again a few moths later. Toted avain worked like new. I asume something in the camera files corrupted. Just throwin in my 2 cents.
Hello, thanks for the answer.
I fixed the issue by myself few minutes ago, i simply disconnected than reconnected the rear camera plug to the motherboard.

Hello, here is an update about my camera. LG repair the phone by changing the motherboard and the camera module.

Maybe another Touchscreen issue, Please Help, urgent

Hi,
yesterday I bought a G4 H815.
I have the following problem: If my phone is on the bed next to me, or lying on a table, the touchscreen response is terrible. If I'm holding it in my hand, there's no problem. If it's charging and so lying on the bed, there's no problem either. It sucks when scrolling on Facebook (it doesn't scroll sometimes, but opens something instead, sharing, commenting etc), when typing a message, and even when waking up the screen with double knock.
I searched a bit on the internet and I found a guy, who had a problem like this but with another phone. He had a grounding issue after having the touch screen changed.
What could be the problem here? Maybe grounding, or some kind of isolation is faulty? Or is it the ISSUE everyone is having?
I bought the phone yesterday, so I'd like to send it back to get a new one, but the shop tells me it's not a "problem" because a bunch of lg g4 users have this problem and a new update from LG will fix it..
But I don't think it's the same thing. What do you say?
What I don't get is that it's only producing the problem while lying on a flat surface (table, bed - the phone is lying still, that's not a problem), but when I hold it, or plug it into the wall, it's perfect. That's why I would think it's some kind of grounding issue, although I'm totally not competent in electricity.
I opened the service menu, dialing 277634#*# and I did it there:
I took a few photos with my Optimus Black, since I could't take any screenshots of the issue:
this is with my phone lying on the bed:
and here holding it in my hands, producing no problems at all.
Send it back and exchange the device.
Thanks, yesterday I've sent it back. I'm waiting now for a new one... I hope that the will send me one quickly.
I made videos of the problem..
lying on the bed, the touch screen responds very poorly:

Hi. I also bought a g4 and am having the same issue. Have you received your replacement? Does it work?
I had the same issue with a Galaxy S6... it's definitely a hardware issue.... get it replaced ASAP

Seems like similar issue as mine. The members here claim that it may be due to the curvature of the phone.
Yup, you need to get a replacement.
I had this problem with my wife's phone and mine. but i changed to a different USB cable (not stock) and the problem does not appear!

a lot of users here already report about this issue.
u need to learn to live with it or just to buy other phone and not the G4.

Spot on the camera. LG replaced the camera module spot reappeared

Hello,
I was seeing this cloudy spot on the pictures and videos through the rear camera.(see attached image). (https://postimg.org/image/k2nqfcqod/)
I sent it to LG for repairs and they replaced the camera module for free. (had sent it earlier to them to get the motherboard replaced for bootloop issue so I guess it was still under repairs warranty).
I got my phone back yesterday and the spot has reappeared at the exact location again.
I have tried running the camera without the lens housing and the spot doesn't go away. I don't want to send the phone back to LG the third time and wait for another 10 days without a phone.
What do you guys think is the problem?
Thanks for any help.

Camera not working/recognized H812

Hi everybody,
I have a LG G4 LG H812 and I change the screen on it (LCD/FRAME/DIGITIZER).
But after it everything work fine except the rear camera so I supposed that I broke the cable or the camera module and I buy a new one on Ebay for 30$.
Today I recieved it and install it, easy and fast but the new module doesn't work too...
I tried many apps and none of them show me the option to use the rear camera.
Front camera work perfectly...
What do you think? Motherboard problem, 2 camera module dead, or software problem?
Thank you! (yes I search the forum for solution but none of them work)
I have the same exact problem as well; I have replaced the digitizer, resulting in a nonfunctional rear camera (flash doesnt work too). When I load my camera app it only loads the front facing one.
I've replaced the camera with a new one but it results in the same problem. The new camera didnt come with the presumed conductive adhesive tape as the original so maybe thats a factor? My original adhesive foil ripped so maybe a circuit is not being closed somewhere?
my LG G4 works with front cam but not rare. Other apps also don't detect camera at all.
Any luck?

Have you tried a hard reset but back every thing up before you do this so you don't lose stuff.......
I'm still using the phone but only the front camera as work since. I've try everything, factory reset, 1 other new camera, put back the old camera nothing work!
Motherboard problem probably, never had problem to change screen before.
Anyway gonna change my phone soon and will look for reviews on the forum!!!
Thx!

LG G3 D855 Rear Camera broken

UHi. I've been on this site for years but have never posted anything. I've got a problem with my 'new' LG G3 D855. I just got it off eBay today.....and I already broke it. I'll start from the beginning.
First, I'm using a Tracfone BYOP sim (AT&T). Back in August I bought an LG G3 D850 (AT&T model) with a cracked screen for $25. It wasn't until November that I replaced the screen for it. Swapped sims, everything worked right away. Headphone jack was broken and the power/volume buttons were slow to respond. Then, I realized it had a bunch of AT&T bloatware, so I tried several different ROMS. The one I liked the best was Fulmics 4.1. (Didn't like any of the later versions with the new layout). Replaced the headphone jack. Worked. Then I replaced the power/volume button ribbon cable. When I did this, the rear camera stopped working, as did the flashlight. I tried replacing the rear camera and that did not help. I got it working once, but only for a couple minutes. I assumed the board was defective and I wanted the FM radio anyway (which I didn't know the D850 variant didn't have when I bought it). So I threw away the board.
Phone two. Instead of replacing the board, I just decided to get another phone for $30 with a cracked screen (also power button was not functioning right). This time it was an LS990 Sprint variant . FM Radio worked, but since it was not a GSM phone, no service. Tried PrimeGSM ROM and got service. Lost the FM radio though with the ROM flash. Eventually gave up on that and now I'm at phone #3.
And now I'm at the D855. Did not have FM Radio with stock MM. Replaced it with Fulmics 4.1. Has service, data, and working FM radio. And this phone was fully functional, looks barely used.....except for one issue. The power/volume buttons don't work too well. Figuring this would happen I ordered the buttons the same day I ordered the phone. I just swapped out the power/volume buttons about 10 minutes ago. Now the rear camera and flashlight don't work. Camera/flashlight was working before I did this. I didn't even touch the camera or the camera connector on this phone. Is there any way to fix this?
Update: The fix was to replace the back housing with a new one. Got a new one for <$10 on ebay. Everything on the phone works like new now. Hope this can help someone else if they ever come across the same issue.
