So I got a few days with my Pixel 2 I dont get too bad blue shift I don't think it's that annoying colors are different that Samsung Screens supposedly because they are using sRGB Color space, as you can see on my photos which are not so clear in person it looks a little bit more the screen burn of the nav bar yes it's there but so faintly and since it's basically always there I don't know how can this be bad, I really hope they get a setting for a more colorful display

If its the navbar that has burn in, most see it as non issue. People with ocd complain about it.
What has annoyed me I don't know if it's Android 8.1 but bluetooth audio is a pain I noticed that bluetooth also with galaxy s8+ wasn't so good when connected to car but with pixel 2 even with a close speaker is broken

So it doesn't work at all? I know 8.0 BT to my car is fine on my 6p, it seems less finiky to connect than what it did on 7.1. But that was only on initial set up.
Supposed to get my pixel today
with the car If I move it a little far it stutters some times with the speaker is totally broken is a UE Megaboom

I'll check it out myself once I get my device in hand and set up, then report back.
I'll admit I haven't been following the xl2 section as much ad I do with most phones I've owned, but I don't know that I've seen other posts about the same type of BT issue.
Have you tried bluetooth audio with other devices other than a car. Does it work with an AVR (Audio/Video Receiver) or a bluetooth speaker. Does it have the same behaviour across bluetooth devices?
Something interesting I noticed yesterday...I was packing up my old pixel XL to send to Google for trade in .
Look at at screen burn in on the bottom of screen .

Coming from Galaxy Nexus and got my HTC One X today.
1. This thing is a beast. I am getting Antutu benchmarks of 11000+ right out of the box compared to 6500 on Galaxy Nexus. Amazing!
2. Strange static sound when I click any icon. I do not know if it started after i rooted my phone or did it exist from before?a little bummed coz this phone costed about 650+. I have put it on mute and it still makes that small 'chit' sound which is annoying.
Everything works just perfect apart of this issue. Wondering if anyone has any solution to this yet?
PS: subject has a typo: it is sound not doing.

Are you talking about a sound that's made everytime you select something on the display? If so, it can be toggled off/on under: settngs>sound. It's in the last category toward the bottom of the page. The sound made when typing on the keyboard can be controlled seperately under: settings>language & keyboard>HTC Sense input.

Thanks for your reply, but no it is not that sound. I have turned off that sound already. It looks like it is a static sound and looks like it is coming from camera shutter. I have the sound set to zero through audio manager pro so nothing should be coming out. Very strange.
shake your phone near your ear, 90% chance you will hear a rattle, either the camera or the volume rocker, what ever is causing the rattle is the same that you hear when you press the screen, remove vibration feedback and you will feel it less
most One x have it so don't worry

I just got it yesterday and here is my exp
1. Even though I use it very carefully (still waiting for my case and screen protector arrive ), I have couples minors scratches on the screen (which I dont know why it happens on the Gorrila Glass)
2. Overheat auto dim brightness when I use maximum brightness about 15 mins
3. GPS sucks !!!
4. Sound quality so bad compare to my iphone 4s, especially when listening music by headphone (mine is Audio-Technica ATH-M50s/LE) or by AUX cable on my car. Iphone 4s give me louder and more crispy sound. This issues happens to me before with Nexus 4. I really doubt that Qualcom chipset sucks at music experience.

1. not sure how people do this, are you tossing your phone in a pocket full of change or with your keys? Have diamonds in your pocket? I find that when I keep my phone and ONLY my phone in my pocket I never get scratches.
2. On full brightness with a 1080p movie playing I have had no overheating problems at all. And that was outside in the heat of the day.
3. I find the GPS takes a little to get a fix, but once it has it...its accurate and doesnt lose it.
4. The sound using my Klipsch S4 earbuds is just as good as it was on my Galaxy Note 2. The Bluetoth audio is just a tiny bit less clear but I am no audiophile and cant compare accurately due to my horrible hearing.
Of course these are my opinions. If you dont like the phone...return or sell it?

not one single good thing listed in your experience with the device, yes i would return it and run along elsewhere.
Gorilla glass isn't hard to scratch, it's harder to break(given how thin the glass is it really is amazing that it doesn't break dropping out onto carpet).
I've had no GPS issues at all
I think the audio may have to do with the safe volume crap they have going on.
My issue is the stupid implementation of the emergency calling system..I've called 911 7 times in the 2 weeks I've had it. Press and hold!? That's the only thing my leg can do..I will return the phone over this issue

For the GPS, do 2 things .Download GPS status from the play store and se how long it takes to show locked on GPS status app.If its taking long on an open area you have a defective unit.We have 3 OGP purchased at different times with no GPS issues whatsoever. The next step is connect to your home wi fi with no gps.Maps will tell you to change your settings you need to check and uncheck the GPD boxes several times to get the setting to take.
Glass issues, these days to scratch a glass like these take effort

Overall I think the OGP is a very good phone. Two things that do bother me are 1.) the music output is only mediocre. I have to say my Note 2 has much better sound quality. 2.) the screen is very reflective - it's a shame because the screen is very good but the reflections make it somewhat difficult to read off of in brighter conditions.
I seriously don't have any complains with this phone at all. Not even the slightest. Screen is fine for me in daylight at only 75% and its been sunny as hell here in Co. Audio output is great for me too. I use SD-9HD and they are loud. I have to turn it all the way up and then down 2 times so it doesn't stress the speakers. Phone getting hot has never been an issue and here in CO its been 90s for the past two weeks. As for the screen, you guys must have stuff in your pocket that super Sharp because I have coins and screws(I'm a copier technician) in my pocket with my phone and no scratches. Maybe I'm just lucky I don't know.

I'm a hardcore audio guy, and I'm very pleased with the OGP. Like most other flagship Android phones, the Pro supports USB audio. If you think the stock headphone jack on phone X sounds good, try listening to a high end portable DAC/Amp combo. I realize very few people are willing to carry an extra device around just for sound. But for the most audio obsessed of us, it's the only way. Built in speaker and headphone jack quality are essentially irrelevant.

I don't currently have a cable to allow that. It hasn't been an issue for me though, even when I was using a GS3. But there are cables out there that accommodate USB audio and simultaneous charging. Pixel 3 / 3 XL have no notification LEDs.
Notch, glass back, no headphone jack, bigger screen with more pixels but smaller battery and now no notification LED? It looks worse and worse.
I would have said the same thing a few months ago but ever since I turned it off and just used the AOD for notifications I won't miss it.

Ugh. I was hoping they put it under one of the speaker grilles again. So I guess this is the first Google Nexus/Pixel without one? I suppose we should have known this was coming with AOD. I was actually surprised the pixel 2 kept it, and it got the best one IMO since the Nexus One.

I thought I'd find it less useful with AOD display as well, but do not find that the case. Dim monochrome notification icons are definitely not as obvious as a colored notification LED which can be seen with a passing glance.
What would be cool is if a "notification LED" could be implemented into the AOD - i.e. a small clusters of pixels lit up at full brightness with color support. Wonder if that's technically possible.
This was a poor decision on Google's part... I may just keep my pixel XL 2 this time around... the notification LED is tech that does not need to disappear, so much easier to see you have a notification from across the room...
I didn't know my 2XL had one for ages. Why have it off by default?

They were weening people off the led notification with the P2XL....and promoting the use of the ambient display.
But like some said earlier....ambient display is dim.....there is no better way to glance from afar and know exactly what type notification came thru via the color of the flashing led. That cannot be beaten...I dont need to see and read the notification of the screen....just know I have one and what type it is.
Ambient display is only good for when you in arms reach of the phone to read the screen...at which point you may as well pick it up and look at the phone. It's almost pointless.
Well i guess is a personal thingy, mine is switched off since i got the phone, never use the led, my aod is always on, more than happy with it

It is a preference.....Im just saying hat good is a display if you cant read it. Most people cant read dimly lit text from across a room.
One thing I dont know is....does the text on the AOD shift positions so screen burn in doesn't occur?

I just googled it....the text moves one pixel at a time per minute.....so it will take about an hour to see the text make a significant move....but it does. This is good to know since the new phones dont have the LED.
I thought the same when I enabled aod but after almost a year since I enabled it there is no screen burn where the clock is. I use the display app with a gray color to check for that. The only burn in I see is the notification bar and a slight navigation bar but nothing in the aod area. So I am surprised about that because the differential aging does not work as I thought it would. So movement of pixels seems to be more important than what's on the screen.

The strangest thing happened. I had a professional install a brand new screen on my Pixel 2 XL and now most notifications don't come through and it doesn't ring and I only have the earpiece speaker. screen replacement of the screen is so easy, i did it last week by myself, and unfortunate the bottom speaker stopped working and the ear one start loud then dim by time until you can't hear anything..
i do some inspection and i find out that i knock out the bottom speaker transistors when i was unplug my old screen... the transistors is so tiny black peace beside the screen flex.
i don't know if this issue can be fixed or i need to change the whole main board !!! but am sure that is the thing happened to you too

This might be the reason for my problem!
I own a note 9 and think it’s a great phone, great features but the camera lets it down.
I don’t use the spen much at all so that’s wasted.
I have a itch to get a 3XL but not sure if if should due to the issues with speakers, screen burn and video recording (mic). For the price you pay there should not be any of these issues out of the box.
Just wanted to hear your thoughts and if you have moved from a note 9 to the 3XL, was it a good move?
Thanks.
I actually had the Note 9 and just switched to the 3 XL. I must say I do not regret it. As much as I love Samsung, I did miss my pixel. The software is just so smooth, plus the camera and crazy call screen feature (which was my main reason) make this thing a beast. I must say the 4GB of RAM is my only downside so far. The battery life is nothing like with the Note9 but I really don't miss it too much. The ability to have working root and magisk is so nice. In the end you gotta see what features you're looking for mostly. I don't have any issues with my speakers or with the video recording but we'll see, I only had this baby for a week or so.
I came from the Note 9 about a month ago and have no regrets. As great as the Note 9 is I am enjoying the 3 XL much more. I had the Pixel 1 for over a year and bounced back and forth from the 2 and Note 8 for a while. The thing that really drove me back to the 3 XL was the camera, it's just so much better than the Note 9 in nearly every way. The zoom on the Note is a bit better but not by much. The only things I do miss is pro mode on the camera and headphone jack. But after using this phone I quickly remembered how great pure Android is with the stock phone and messaging apps along with the unlocked bootloader. The other things that were annoying to me with the Note are the curved screen and the taller aspect ratio it has. It's a beautiful phone but far too fragile for the money.
As for your concerns with the speakers Google has fixed them with the December update. Mine were a bit muffled sounding but sound great now. As for burn in I have none. The screen is made by Samsung so that should speak for itself. I do hide the nav bar though. I haven't recorded much video but what I have sounds and looks fine to me, nothing like the YouTube reviews I saw.
I say give the XL 3 a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.
These are the two phones I was trying to decide between coming from my S7 Edge. Being with Samsung for about 2 years, I did enjoy the experience, but I hated the duplicated apps and the software updates. The straight Android experience, same day updates and a great camera, even with this notch the Pixel 3 XL won out over the Note 9 when I put my money down. I do wish however that Google would get their crap together and release features in "North" America when they do and not just America. There is no reason why in Canada we don't have Call Screen yet. My phone is set to US English. Ridiculous. Great phone though so far.
I have both if that counts. They both do things differently and I like both in their own certain ways.
Note 9 does everything decent with exception to the exceptional screen (If you don't get bad uniformity/glue issues like I have). Note 9 screen brightness is crazy good, can see everything even in direct sunlight and colors and viewing angles are the best out there. Note also gives you sdcard, headphone jack, s-pen and a big long lasting battery. Note 9 aspect ratio is a little odd but that is something very minor to me.
Then there is the pixel 3 xl. I bought the 3 xl to use while Samsung is fixing my note 9 and did not expect to love it like i do now! While on paper it looks weak it is not! Cannot hold a candle to my note 9 specs with 512 gb of storage and 8 gb of ram. Pixel screen is decent, not quite note 9 great but clearly acceptable and a lot has to do with brightness just not being the same as the note. Colors are represented well though. Then comes everything else, you don't get sdcard, headphone jack, a fancy pen or quite of big of battery as the note but the camera. The camera with google's software is unreal. I was like it will be a little better then note and I will miss all the note features, NOPE. The camera is out of bounds! The sharpness, the colors, actual representation of your subject is spot on. Then comes night sight, wow it continues to impress. While it may not keep 20 apps all loaded in background with the lack of ram or last quite the time frame that the note does it is a treat to use. There is just something about pure stock android and a camera that is to die for. Also worth mentioning is you can easily root it. Running a kernel, setting up custom color profiles to make the screen look like note, squeeze function for highly used apps and shortcuts is extremely nice. Needless to say I am going to end up keeping both of them for quite sometime! Note for content watching and some daily use and pixel 3 xl for when I need to take photos and some everyday use as well. Hope this helps you
Switched from note 8. No regrets. The only thing I miss is headphone jack.

From my experience with the pixel 3 xl, is you're going to love it except for the battery life. it's average!
Everything else is premium including the screen. Speakers are loud but not as clear as my iphone xs. UI is zippy but does have its stutters sometimes. 4GB is ok, not a deal breaker by any means. The camera is amazing just like everyone says.
Ive compared it to the iPhone xs, and the pixel is guaranteed to get a better shot in all situations.

The battery life is very good for me especially for the battery being smaller then note. Yesterday battery went from 100% at 8:30 to 32% at midnight. That's pretty good in my book. Note 9 beats it still by a little but pixel has been great for me for smaller battery size

That depends on your usage . Last night my battery went from 88% to 68% without using it. I'm going to try a factory reset . But my biggest issue that I've noticed while watching YouTube is that the top notification bar is burnt in to the screen. I'm not sure if this will go away eventually or its permanent.

You have a photo?? My note 9 screen needs replaced due to screen issues and curious if my pixel will eventually have the same issues. But yeah that's way too much drop without using it. Should drop 10% max overnight without usage. I forgot to plug in one night at 15% late and woke up with it at 5% 8 hours later

I don't have a photo but it's only visible in a dark room. If it becomes much visible, I'll just have to get a replacement.
It seems Google really enjoys sending replacements out ?

OP here. I took the advise and bought a pixel 3 XL.
Must admit, after few hours using it I had it back in the box ready to be sent back as I found it lacking a lot of features that the note 9 had. Main one was lack of notification LED.
Note 9 has every feature under the sun and one gets spoilt with these features.
I then tried the software notification apps like pixel pulse etc but they not that good and were hit and miss
Today I woke up and thought I’d give the pixel a try again and now having used it for the day I do like it very much. I’m using AOD which is fine and a good substitute to the notification LED.
Feature wise is doesn’t have all it all but it has enough and is fast and efficient.
I managed 7.5hr SoT today with AOD on and adaptive battery on aswell which surprised me, I hope it gets better or stays around this figure.
My note 9 is packed and ready to be sold. Yes I will miss the epic screen, audio, no notch, headphone jack, sd card but it was just the software side of things that lured me to the pixel and Timely updates.
I couldn’t get over the poor camera quality of the note 9, such a high end phone with a ok camera.
I welcome the smaller form factor of the XL. It’s noticeable in the hand for sure.
Thanks

Glad to hear you like it! And just turn the notch off on the pixel and you will be fine! But yes I was also disappointed in the camera on the note 9

Do you have brightness set at 20% or something?
I have mine set quite high as I hate looking at dim screens, but I never get anywhere near that kind of SOT. If I get to 4 hours I'm really, really lucky.

I keep mine on 50% or so and can manage 5 hours or so but not sure about 7.5 either

I don’t mind the notch to be honest. Got over it quite quickly.
