Morning,
Had the One X just coming up a week now and loving it.
Is anybody else have trouble with the browser and flash player?
T-Mobile have plastered some horrible logo on my stock browser app so I presume they have had there fingers into the application as well.
So just incase, I've also tried Dolphin Browser.
On both browsers flash is very slow, not too bad streaming video, but if any sort of user input is required it just locks up. (Not playing flash games that need loads of resources , just fruit machines and such).
The browser often stops responding and I get the Wait or Close box popping up.
Regardless if I press wait or close - When I leave the browser - HTC Sense is reloading itself . I get my wallpaper with the "Loading" box in the middle.
Before the ONEx I had an Incredible S, I often played the same flash content on this phone (1ghz single core) without any issues at all.
I even had the ONEx Rom Ported onto it and Flash was still perfect on the IS.
Any clues on what the issue is? Perhaps flash needs to be optimized for the quadcore?
Hi there,
Yes i've had similar problems with what I believe to be flash related.
My issue is when I try to watch live football streaming (worked fine on my SGS2) the stream is just jumpy/laggy, it plays but it's as if it can't keep up so you just get the match playing but with like half a second segments of the game missing consistently throughout.
I also have problems intermittently with random flash content to the point where my browser crashes. Like you, i've tried dolphin, also tried Opera. Same problem on both of those too.
I have had trouble finding anybody else with the same problems, so i'm considering sending mine back for a refund and getting a replacement, or holding out for the S3 this Thursday!
Do you have enable flash player checked in your settings?

Lol . Yes , well I have anyway. It works, its just stupidly laggy. overheats my phone - crashes browser and HTC sense.
Also tried to watch footy the other day and it was all laggy and rubbish.
Tried TV Catch up last night, also no good.
Basically any sort of high bandwidth flash at all in the browser is causing me an issue. Little adverts on webpages lag slightly but nowhere near as bad as video, fullscreen or not.
If there is only one guy having this problem I am going to T-Mobile shop Sat for replacement.
Ta
BTW - Are you T-Mobile?
What is your software version. Mine is
1.26.110.5
Just a bit more info on this one.
I knew I was getting this phone, So I flashed the One X rom onto my Incredible S to test it out. The rom was almost identical to what I have now apart from Branding.
Flash worked fine on my INC S . (1ghz 1GB)
So, because I have tried multiple browsers - that eliminates the browser itself. (Kinda)
I hear no reports from other carriers users or unbranded users so presume it's either
1. Something T-Mobile have broken
2. Something HTC fixed in OTA
Also,
I have just read this on Opera site
Opera Mobile 12.0.2 for Android:
•Fixed issues with Flash not working on some ICS devices
•Fixed issues with Flash crashing on some ICS devices (HTC One X)
•Fixed issues with fonts on Samsung Galaxy SII (ICS)
•Fixed Issues with speed dial entries reappearing after user removes them
•Fixed general stability issues

What version of Opera did you test on?
Ok - Just tested the new Opera on TV Catchup - Via mobile internet so not best connection.
Video fine, no stutter , no lag - Audio around half a second behind on ITV - about 2 seconds behind on channel 5 .
Pressed home key - HTC Sense still running, no loading screen so no crash there. Browser also didnt crash.
So it must be an issue on the browser itself? - I presume this is fixed in the update that T-Mobile are neglecting...............
Hi guys,
The flash crashing problem.
Fix is factory reset - not sure why but it fixes it
Hopefully the powers that be don't do a DMCA takedown on my youtube video, but I've uploaded an example of a video playback glitch that regularly occurs on my device. Does anyone else see this on their Note 10.1 2014 edition? Very annoying... SM-P600, 32GB, USA version, MK1 firmware. Not rooted.
http://youtu.be/gU6x1CLGa8E
So far, I must be in the less than 1% that have experienced this problem...
you didn't include any info on the clip. audio codec, video codec, bitrate, profile, etc. what videomplayer are you using. is the glitch repeatable at that exact frame each time?
You can be sure that when somebody else had such problems, you will already find it here in the forum. So, no, never have such an issue. Also not over the network.
And, as mad squabbles already wrote: For more we need much more information.

The movie was downloaded from Samsung Hub to the device. HD quality. The videoplayer was the only one that plays these movies (to my knowledge): The stock Samsung video player. The glitch is not repeatable at exact locations. I can go back and rewatch the same clip and it will not appear, which says to me that there is not a data corruption problem. It seems like an I/O or "interrupt" problem to me. I've run Androbench on the device and I get as good as or better than the Anandtech benchmarks for the device.
This type of glitch occurs on any kind of move I play, including those I put on the device (mp4, etc). For the ones I have put on the device manually (not through Google Play or the Hub), I've tried the following players: Dice, MX, Archos, and the stock player.
In all other respects, the device works flawlessly: no lag to speak of (except for the occasional stutter on the notifications pull-down, which seems to be the norm). It doesn't crash randomly and battery life seems normal (no less than 7-10 hours of screen on time, ~4% drain overnight. The only thing that I have that probably isn't too common is that I do have MDM software installed (MaaS360) so that I can sync with my employers Exchange servers using TouchDown.

Normally I would expect that you have an background process which got more attention from Android then your video player. This can be anything. Did you have this issue also after a directly after a restart?

Yes, I have the issue immediately after a restart.

I just removed MaaS360 and rebooted. The glitch remains...
Factory resetting now. Will report back when I get it back online. I'll test video before installing any third party apps...
And.....it's still glitching after a factory reset.
First thing I noticed was that this scene is similar to super Mario live action movie
Second, this glitch can happen when you read from a slow SD card or can be reading and writing at same time, for example downloading from torrent or installing apps and playback movies from same location.

Indeed. However, movies are playing from the internal memory without any other significant activity going on. (no D/Ls, etc. just normal device behavior that is native to the OS) going on in the background. I also have played video in airplane mode...

and the media scan which have issues with scanning some files. Maybe you check which processes are running in the background?

There is always *some* process running in the background... I have cleared all other applications while playing a movie, but really, should this be necessary? (Problem still remains) I've tried playing movies without any non-stock apps installed. Problem occurs. I've tried freezing as much bloatware as possible without rooting before installing third part apps. Problem occurs.
What I would like to explicitly know is this: has anyone rented a movie from Google Play, played at least 30 minutes straight while doing nothing but watching the movie, and saw any stuttering whatsoever during that 30 minutes. I can live with it if it is a suboptimal experience due to firmware (I'm on MK1, btw) if this is "normal" for this device. I could only hope that it would be fixed in a future firmware update if that was the case. However, I have a strong feeling that if I sent this in to Samsung, they'll fiddle with it for 10 minutes, see that it "seems" to be fine (except for this glitch, the device performs completely as-expected for an Android device), then it be returned to me with no action taken. I can live without this thing for a few weeks, but it will be extremely annoying if nothing is actually done about it. Given that this glitch is not reproducible on command, I fear it will be an ongoing thorn in my proverbial behind. Unfortunately, my return window has expired or else it would go back in an instant.
Used Kies to download and reinstall the MK1 firmware in case one of the OTA updates were corrupted. No joy. Still stutters. Samsung Live Chat help of no use. I expect a call or email from them telling me to send it in in the next 3-5 business days unless someone else states that they have the same tablet and sees this problem too, possibly confirming that it is a firmware/device combination issue.
Mmm this is weird, I have no problem with video playback (any supported format by this device)
I have no MK1 but MJ2 and maybe media scanner is working hard in background
Are you using external SD card and / or have many pictures?

Try MX player if you just want to play it somehow
Sent from my GT-I9082
as far as i can remember with pc's.... if video card gets warm or hot, the screen starts to show glitches...

MX player shows glitches as well on movies that it can actually play. i.e., MX player doesn't play nicely with rented (digitally rights managed) movies from Google, which is the primary problem. Perhaps Android tablet users just don't rent movies all that much?

Media scanner isn't working hard in the background as far as I can tell. No to the two questions.
I just got my Note 10.1 2014 (LTE) and tried to test a bit. So, new Galaxy with Nova launcher.
I have found YouTube videos don't play smoothly. I see freezing screen (not extreme, but just not smooth).
I did also try Vimeo app and I am having the same issue.
Do your YouTube(HD) videos play smooth and is there anything I can do about to make them play smooth?
I dont have problems with those apps maybe try to enable "force gpu rendering" in developer options. Just as an idea even if I think this wont have a big effect
Sent by my Note 10.1 2014
It does not help. My YT videos are still freezing
An other guess after a bit of reading : disable hardware overlays in developer options. Seems to fix the problem for a few users
Sent by my Note 10.1 2014
I experience the same as you. But not as often . Sometimes the app itself freezes and sometimes it says connection lost. I have to wait a while or close and restart the app..
I have a problem with youtube video not streaming smoothly, every 5 seconds or so it stops to buffer, does anyone know how to fix this?
YouTube videos are pretty much unwatchable since I bought my tablet

I use tubemate... Not only is watching good but I have the option to download the video too...
I have the same problem with youtube app. Video stops every five seconds...

This is going to sound weird, but try signing into YouTube.
I had the same issue with video playback "network errors" ... after I signed in? Poof ....
My youtube app was useless since it would take like a minute to load and then keep freezing so I decided to change my Internet connection (fortunately at I have two different internet connections in my house) anyways the first had more than enough bandwith to play youtube videos but it just didn't want to so I changed to my other wifi connection and now youtube app works smoothly.
Try a different connection at a friends house or if you have two try the other and it should work, still don't know why youtube didn't work on the first one - could be router and Note don't like each other but honestly I have no idea.
Hey, when the Youtube app update that enabled 1440p quality playback came out i had the same problem, when you select a resolution it doesnt apply it, its like the app is always in auto quality mode. I read that you should uninstall updates and then install the newest version and that solved the issue for some time but now i have the same issue again. Does anyone know how to solve this?
Same issue here. I hate that I can't use 1440p. I've tried to uninstall updates but that didn't work. Anyone out there who knows how to fix this???

The app itself updated today but the issue is still there.
Hey guys, I found a solution for my tablet at least. The problem for me was Viper4android, I had changed the driver from power saving to high quality, reverting to the power saving driver seems to have solved the issue for me.
try to clear the apps data in setting application youtube and see if it stick.
Clearing those didn´t help.
Last time's solution (Clear Data and cache, Uninstall Updates, turn off and then turn on and Install updates from Play Store) is not working this time, very frustrating.
My solution didn't seem to stick and now I have the same issue again.
Mine suddenly began working, at third attempt. I cleared cache and data, Uninstalled updates, force stop, then I went to the play store and download the new updates, when I tried the first video it didn't seem to have worked, but I exit YouTube and the next time I tried it worked.
Only thing I think I did different is that I didn't disable the app before download the updates.

I found that it didn't stick when I selected it but after a few seconds of the video playing it changed to the new setting.
Here's a quick fix: after you tap the 1440 display button drag the time bar back to the beginning of the video and it will begin playing in the higher resolution.

Sorry, best I could do.
I'm trying the newest YouTube version, 5.10.3.4 (not yet in the playstore) and the issue is still there.
Whenever I record a video using the slow motion mode, the video is kind of lagging and missing frames. I have tried cleaning the camera cache and data, but no success. I also changed the resolution, changed the storage location to the internal one, but again no success.
I am using a Snapdragon S20 Ultra.
Does anyone else have this problem?
I have attached one example.
I have the same problem with the Exynos version. The service replaced my motherboard and other components several times and it did not help. I finally got a completely new phone and the problem still exists. What's worse, I saw that there is also this problem in the S21 Ultra. I lost hope that Samsung would solve this problem.

Yeah my exynos s20 ultra is the same...but wasn't always like this...I've recorded videos in slow mode from my gallery that plays fine,so hopefully its only software related
I have this problem from the beginning. I would expect it to be solved with new updates, but it's worse now than it was at the beginning. I know that this is not a function that so many people use, but it is unbelievable that Samsung will not be able to eliminate it ...
