Hello,
My HTC Desire 820 screen died, but the phone still works, the screen is black, I receive calls fine but now I'm trying to get my files from the phone and the problem that I must confirm the USB configuration settings to MTP which by default is set to charging.
What is the solutions I can do?
I think to connect the phone to the TV through MHL cable, install file transfer APP (send anywhere) and transfer the files to another device, will this solution work?

Hi Guys,
I have a huge problem with my HTC Touch Pro 2, the display is broken but still working partly. But I can´t activate the Active Sync mode while connecting by USB cable.
So the problem is that i need the contacts, sms and calling history.
The only thing I can connect to, is the device as a hard disk so i have access to the SD card.
Is it some how possible to activate Active Sync without activiation through the display?
May be it could boot together with the device or something like that.
Actually I need the active sync connection for using the Mymobiler Software so that i could run PIMBackup and backup everything.
Or is it somehow possible to backup those things without using active sync.
Please help I really don´t know how to deal with this pitty situation...
tuch screen still works?
Before you broke display when you connect usb on display show popup with device connection options? May be better buy new display. I buy new display and tuch screen and pay for repair totall less than 50 usd.Display, touch screen.
The Touchscreen works only partly, well when i try to connect the device with USB, I see the screen where i can decide which type of connection I´d like to choose but its only partly and the part which is needed for connecting the phone by active sync is still in the part which is broken.
You don't need your screen for setting up a connection do you?
Are you really using active sync of windows mobile centrum. You could try that, it is available on windows vista / 7 if you connect your phone, and then search for an windows update, it should show windows mobile...
Can you get into the start menu, into settings and change the USB connection type to always default to ActiveSync?

Hoping someone might be able to help me on this as it's driving me mad now: my digitizer on my Xperia S LT26i has broken and is not responding to any touch, there is a whole host of of stuff on the HDD i want to copy to the PC. Is there a way to do this without the phone screen?
I have tried sony PC companion but this states that the screen needs to be unlocked and i have also tried opening the phones folder via file explorer but this is returning nothing (blank and no error message but takes a while to scan the directory).
Are there any other ways to for communication between the HDD and PC? I.E. is there a method to connect the HDD to the PC while to phone is off like a standard flash drive or perhaps a way to control the phone via USB via needing to install or configure anything on the phone itself?

Anyone? I was pondering usb on the go and connecting a wired mouse but not sure if this would be usable on this device? Would like more info before purchasing a USB on the go lead.
Also it would appear that the screen is not responsive as it think it's being pressed all over the scren. I.E. i can launch the camera but the autofucs jumpts all over the place - would this present an issue if using a mouse?
I have my One X for like 5 months now. Everything was working just fine and I was able to connect my phone to my MacBook with no problems. I was able to transfer files using HTC Sync Manager as well. However, recently my phone would not connect to any computer. When I connect my phone to the computer it just starts charging, no other notification shows up in the bar. Sync manager would not see the phone as well. I don't know if its the software or my phone. I tried Windows and OSX; I tried different USB cables; Factory Reset did not help; Debugging is on. Its frustrating! It seems like people encounter this problem, but no real solution or answer has been found. Do you guys know something about this?
Hey Guys,
First of all, I am a new member here my name is Salem and its an amazing forum.
Anyway, I have a slight problem with my HTC M9 while connecting it into my laptop. First, when I connect it, the mobile starts charging, and it gives me no option as to change it to Media Transfer or anything... even it gives me "Slow Charging" Error, and my laptop is detecting nothing, as if nothing happened, nor its searching for any drivers...
I went to developer menu and used USB Debugging, and selected USB configuration as MTP, and it didn't work...
I installed HTC Sync to get the drivers, and it is the same.
Can you guys help me? because I wanna root the phone and I tried various Auto Root applications without using the PC and they didn't work. Thank you guys
No signal from the laptop probably means you have a faulty USB cable. Most likely a break in one of the data wires.
Try another good quality usb 2.0 cable.

Same issue. Tried multiple cables
I have the same issue. When I try to plug into any PC a slow charging message pops up but the phone won't give me the option to connect to PC. I have turned on USB Debugging and selected MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Please help!
I am with TPG. Android 6.0 HTS 7.0 Software number 3.35.617.12
I only bought this phone a week ago and it updated when I turned it on.

Most likely a crap or broken cable. Other cables, other sockets, other pc's are all worth a try.
You should leave the usb port in "charging only". When you successfully connect to a pc the phone will prompt you to allow data transfers to that computer.
I know this because mine does it. I'm sick to death of the effing thing promting me to connect to my xbox one when all i want to do is charge the effing thing... My phone is set to charging only.
I suppose rom choice will affect it too. Mine is rooted stock 6.0.

Still have same problem
I still can't connect my M9 to my PC. Still have slow charge message come up and no option to connect to PC. My work around has been transferring files using WiFi. However, now I need to do a presentation using scrcpy and will probably have to get a new phone. I'm tmepted not to buy HTC again. Pretty frustrating and no fix found on the internet...
Hi everyone,
I know this forum is more about software and the functioning of custom roms. But maybe someone has experiences with data recovery from a SM-A320FL, stockRom, with a broken display.
The mobile of my son has a broken display. The mobile still works, I can plug it in to a computer and it is still recognized as normal. I can not get access to the data via the laptop because I have to unlock via the phone. I know I could just get out the external sd and save the data, but my son would like to save his data from the phone as well.
The display is completely black and broken. We can not access the phone. Touch does not work.
My idea was to access the phone via an USB-C hub and plug the phone to an external monitor with a mouse and keyboard. So far it has not worked. Has anyone tried this solution and could tell me his /her experiences?
Has anyone experiences with such or a similar problem? Are there any other solutions to the problem, e.g. break up the phone and connect a new display to the phone,?
Many thanks for your help and any suggestions
Best

As far as I know, the phone is not capable of displaying its screen over the USB-C and never has been:

Your only chance would be to use adb or Microsoft's Your Phone. But for the latter, you need to install and set up the app, which would be impossible with a broken screen.

As a matter of fact, you could still root your phone and make a backup using the buttons on the side of the phone, however, you could only do that with a blindfold on as you have no screen. (However, there are many screenshots and videos available to see what theoptions are.)
Of course, if you bring your device to a repair shop, they can attach a touchscreen and perform the backup for you.
