Hi guys,
I'll try to keep this short : recently I fell on/with my z1 compact in my pocket, result a broken screen and touchscreen not responding anymore.
Took it to the phone repair shop, 120€ and hours later, they gave me a new screen and all seemed OK.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case. The touchscreen still randomly freezes up when I get a call and I have to do a hard reset to get things back to 'normal'.
This issue ONLY happens with phonecalls, incoming and outgoing...sometimes I can't pick up and sometimes I can not end the call.
The rest seems to be working fine.
I tried returning it (3 times now) but the guys at the shop seem not able to repair it, as the issue stills exists to this day.
I tried installing another dialer-app, no solution. Yesterday I tried a factory reset and all seemed good for a moment, until today. Same story, different day.
Are there any other options out there for me to try or is it goodbye z1 compact?
Thanks in advance.
This hapened to me yesterday, all by itself, no falls or physical damage whatsoever. I was getting a lot of phanthom touches in the last few weeks in that exact area and now its unresponsive to the touch.
I went to a few phone service shops today and got the same response from all of them: no guarantee that the screen would work even after replacement.
For me one thing is sure, sony - never again
Anyone know if its possible to replace or even remove the factory dialer app?
Ive tried installing a couple of others (playstore) but they always seem to still use the factory dialer app for the actual calling..? (Which is useless of course)
I think this is probably the last thing I can do to try and 'fix' my issue?

Even I had the same problem as mentioned here. Why won't screen work after replacement? Won't the part be new?

I have no idea, those were the words of the repair shop owner. It's hard for me to spend 30-40 euros on a part that has no guarantee of working.
To make things worse, 2 days ago my power button also stoped working. I'm so done with sony

Heyy guys, so I dropped my phone the other day and now the screen doesn't exactly work. It's not responsive or anything, Its happened before (except without dropping it) and all i did was just re-install the ROM and it worked great. I tried to reinstall the ROM now and its stuck on the screen alignment page. I can receive calls and the buttons still work, just the screen doesn't work what so ever.
What can I do?
Thanks!

sounds like the digitizer is busted if you have a warranty i would get the phone replaced, or you could go the route of goin to ebay paying 20-30 bucks and replacing it yourself. i have replaced the digitizer for my old wing it wasnt 2 hard if you are gentle and have the knowledge(have taken apart electronics before) i would go the first route before ebay though. just my $0.02
Hello everyone,
Basically went to unlock my phone today and touch screen is not responding, however the hardware buttons work fine. Now i've done some research and found other posts of people with the same problem, however their touchscreen problems seem to be fixed(temporarily, at least) with a battery pull.. mine however is still unresponsive after half a day and multiple battery pulls.
Id rather not have to send in for certified to replace an otherwise perfectly working phone.
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

are u undervolting?
Nope, sorry forgot to say. Completely stock never unlocked or rooted.
Also i tried getting into recovery to try and do a factory reset but when i select recovery i just get the android on his back with the red triangle..
so instead i just went through the steps and unlocked the bootloader and booted up (in order to give me the factory reset without having to touch the screen)
It unlocked and booted up fine but still no response..
No new recent app installed and never had this happen before.
Mine did this after a few days of owning it, and luckily the store took it back and swapped it out with a perfectly working unit. Is yours within a few weeks of purchase?
Figured this out randomly. Remove battery cover. With phone turned on, press on the area to the to the left of the camera lens until the screen is responsive. My screen becomes unresponsive when the phone is dropped and this fixes it.

hrmm this does not seem to fix either. I also have never dropped my phone, although this seems to be worrisome if the issue is hardware related.
@ tmellen i purchased the phone from amazon and am a few days past my return date :-/
Guess ill just give them a call and hope for the best. Thanks for the ideas everyone.
(update) called amazon and they are sending me a brand new phone.
Knowing this i thought i'd try dailong's method again only this time i was quite a bit more "rough" with pressing down on that area, and it actually worked!
Ill still be taking the new phone once it gets here but for anyone who is having this problem there's a sweet spot on the left edge of the phone towards the top (looking at it with the back cover off) there should be a circle shape. press on that area really hard and it should fix.. weird
Experienced the same on my GSM version a few minutes ago. I had to call my mobile to get it to respond. After that it worked again as normal. I'll see if I get this issue again in the next few days. Hope it's just random
Had the same happen earlier to mine and I was on AOKP. I've had this happen to other phone before, shouldn't be a a cause for alarm unless it happens very frequently. Btw, next time it happens to me I'll give that left side of the camera trick a try.
mine got fixed by removing battery.
Hi,
When I tried to unlock my phone this morning the screen didn't turn on so i figured the battery died on me. I connected it to the charger but it didn't do anything. A few seconds later i suddenly got a notification sound and the LED started blinking but still the screen wouldn't come on. I tried tapping some random places in the screen and I noticed it responded to my touch, by now I started getting scared the screen might have died on me.
I pulled the battery and tried to reboot the phone, same problem, screen responds but doesn't display anything, not even the google logo.
Then I tried getting in the bootloader, same thing here, got into bootloader but screen didn't display anything. I figured it might be a problem with the bootloader or whatever so I flashed the factory image from Google but the problem persisted.
The phone was working perfectly yesterday and it hasn't dropped on the floor or got wet, it just sat on the table all night long.
So is there anything else I can do? Has my screen just died randomly on me?
In case the screen needs to be replaced, will Samsung do this for free? I'm not sure if it matters but I'm in Europe.
Anyone? I'm quite desperate here.

I sent my phone in and it turned out I had water damage, even though I'm sure it never ever came in to contact with water or even moisture. Had to buy a new one, no refund or anything. Even had to pay €200 to get my broken phone back.
I hope you have more luck than I did.
You got ripped hard, water damage is an excuse the telcos use to get out of replacing your device, its a widespread practise, sounds like your phone had a hardware fault and should have been repaired or replaced.
If it happens again insist on proof and explain you know your rights and will pursue a formal investigation with whatever is the relevant consumer authority in your region.
Dont take no for an answer and be prepared to politely but firmly argue for your rights and also escalate the complaint if not satisfied with the sellers response.
It is not unusual for mass produced devices to have hardware faults, but water damage is a total copout by the seller.
For example it is estimated that between 0.5% and 2.5% of sgs3 i9300 devices have faulty batteries which leak and damage internal hardware, and typically the seller will blame the buyer for water damage (more $ for them) rather than replace the device (no $ for them).

My Asus Zenforne 2 suddenly started behaving unexpectedly.
Even if the screen is locked and closed, phone automatically tries to open but as it is locked, it will show wrong password.
But its keep on trying to open the screen, its like a continuous screen touch happens every time.
After I open using my password, it is accessing the phone automatically like opening application what ever is present and keep on doing something.
So basically phone behaves as some one keeps on clicking the phone continuously.
I thought it might be happening only during charging, but it proved me wrong.
I did restart many times, after every restart for few minutes, it works fine but after sometime, the same story.
I did clear the cache partition, but still same issue.
I did factory reset, it took around 3 hours.
Post that it is working as expected. Dont know what was the issue exactly. I had many apps installed.
But again after few minutes, the same issue appeared. System keeps on clicking randomly throughout the screen.
I am not able to do anything.
i have the same problem to...the screen die...change the screen all will work fine again
mine warranty passed...have to paid hopes yours is still under warranty

Your problem appears consistent with "Ghost touch". It is a well known problem for zenfone 2. You can search about that with the keyword Ghost touch in here or in the google and read about it if you want.
If your phone is under warranty, contact the service center and schedule for the repair. They usually change the digitizer.
If your phone is out of warranty, you can order the digitizer for around US$ 30-50 and change it yourself. There are a couple of instructional video on youtube showing how to replace the digitizer for asus zenfone 2.
Thank you sway8966.
I observed few things
1. When the phone is in charging and little bit heated up, this happens very frequently.
2. After long usage, when the phone is warming up, this issue happens.
3. Sometimes, even it is there lying on the desk, still happens. Wiping up the screen cleanly helps sometimes.
4. Most of the times, the clicks or touches happening on one single row.
5. When the phone is locked as pattern, all the clicks happens on the first row of the pattern lock only.
So not able to conclude, what is the issue exactly. Whether it is screen problem, or due to heating up or due to insulation issue.
I have read multiple posts in many platforms but not able to conclude the root cause of the issue.

My warranty also expired just a month back.
So no idea, how much it will cost and whether it is worth spending the money or go for a new device.

It cost around $40 in indonesia, maybe u should consider to change the screen.
Oh yeah, dont take ur phone to asus service center when ur guarantee is alrd expired, it will cost around $120 to replace the screen :crying:
I also had this issue, but it was due to a cheap glass protector I had got from Aliexpress. I suspected it could be that, since the issue appeared just the day after I put the protector on my phone, about one week ago. This morning it suddenly began happening again and it stopped just after removing the glass protector, and it hasn't happened again yet, so I guess I was right. If any of you also used a cheap protector, that could be the source of the problem. I have now ordered a Nilkin protector, which is supposed to be of superior quality (and is indeed way more expensive) and hope I can use it without any ghost touches.

I had exactly the same problem yesterday but the "ghost touch" problem had happened 3 days after I've put the protector. So I've removed it and the phone works fine again. It was this glass protector : https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01GTE6TUA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 so avoid it
Hello, two days ago I notice that occasionally my front screen touch screen stopped working. It starts to work for a while but then stopped for good. I restart the phone and start to work again for a few hours and now stopped again. I hard reset it but no luck. The screen works, but the touch function is not available. I have had it for almost 9 months and it was perfect till this moment. I have the August update from Samsung and I think this causes the problem-software problem maybe?

Try running diagnostics in settings->device care to test it
I can only do diagnostic when the phone is open. There is no problem with the touch screen there, but when I close it the touch screen does not work
Not trying to scare you, but exactly the same happened to me like 2 weeks ago. Screen was still showing everything crystal clear, but touch functionality was not given anymore.
Went to Samsung Repair Shop (Germany) and they told me would need to drop it off there for repair. They ordered front screen, in the end repair person found out that some electric-mechanical components had to be fixed. In addition to front screen they even replaced the inner screen and both batteries!
Fortunately everything within warranty, otherwise would have cost me more than 700€.
Best thing would be, go to Repair Shop near you and let them check the device. Crossed fingers that it maybe is not as bad as with my Fold 3.

Thank you for your answer. I spoke with my friend who has a repair shop and we thinks that the front screen is bad. Lucky that I have 12 months warranty left. Tomorrow I'm sending it back on warranty and to see what the retailer will tell
Hi there,
I had already faced this problem, then I sent my in Fold 3 service center.
