Hello Friends,
Three month ago my nexus 5x touch screen started to work awkwardly, sometimes its perfect and sometimes it doesn't work at all until number of locking and unlocking the phone it would work again, until yesterday the screen suddenly rotated upside down!! and then purple flashes then nothing at all, not even google logo just white or purple screen.
So I want to make sure its a screen replacement issue and not a motherboard issue, and where can I buy an affordable one that ships internationally.
thank you guys in advance.
P.S: screen used to work perfectly in recovery before the purple thing.
And If it is as I expect a Hardware issue. I'm out of warranty or a repair point where I live, Do you think buying a new screen frame will fix it for sure or it might be another hardware failure?
Anybody??!!
Did your phone water damaged? I have the same issue but some water was poured on my phone 2 months ago. Now I am waiting for my replacement screen.

Last night I was out and during the night I pulled my desire z out of my pocket to find that the screen was dead, the soft touch buttons were still lit up and working but no display. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot and no luck, you can hear it booting and even unlock/receive calls and txts etc once it has booted up just the screen stays blank the whole time so have to do everything on feel.
Essentially does this just mean my screen has a hardware fault? is it worth trying to fix? I assume the only option would be to purchase a replacement screen and dissemble and reassemble it?
(warranty is not worth it as I live in New Zealand and would have to send my phone back to the UK where I bought it from, also I have dropped it quite a few times so probably voided anyway...)
Thanks in advance for any input
Does it never display anything? So not even a flash during boot or something?
Because then it is probably a hardware problem.
Since the soft touch buttons do still work I think there might be a little crack or something in the flat cable that connects the bottom half with the top.
Maybe you could check whether you can see if the cable is broken or not?
The best thing to do then is to look for a replacement and try to fix it yourself or bring it to a shop where they can do it for you.
No it never displays anything, completely dead the whole time. The touch input is still working though as I answered a phone call this morning on it by making the usual gesture just without being able to see anything. Doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the cable itself as far as I can see. Yea might have to get someone to have a look at it.
My phone is acting the same. I dropped my phone in the pond before, but pulled battery out on time and had it in rice for a day. My phone was still working for about two weeks after that incident. I dropped it and had one little crack at the top of the screen and about a week after that it died when I had a water balloon fight with the phone in my pocket. D;
Do any of you know if the replacement lcd screen/digitizer for the Desire Z would work for the G2?
I had the same thing happening to my G2 screen, only it was intermittently working for a little while, then just completely died and wouldn't work. It was doing this crazy flickering thing then the back light wouldn't go on at all. If I held the phone at a certain angle in the sun, I could see that the pixels were indeed working on the display, but there was no backlight to make them normally visible.
So I purchased a replacement screen from ebay and carefully followed the directions on a youtube video for a G2 take apart. Its not a hard task to take apart and get down to the screen itself. It was rather easy. After putting it back together the screen still didn't work! Sounds work, i can also receive calls etc. But the screen still doesn't work!
Is there any way that this could be a software issue?
Oh and PS, I believe the LCD replacement would work for both the desire Z and the G2. They are identical phones after all right? I'd say its a safe bet. The screen I bought was only 35 bucks. Didn't think that was a bad deal.
Another dead screen or something else?
Few days ago my phone fell of the couch onto a rug - no big deal, so far it has survived much worse, but when I picked it up, the colors were all messed up - overly green and red. Tried restarting - no luck. Everything worked fine, except the colors, but then the screen turned of completely. I could hear notifications, phonecalls, but the screen was dead. After some tapping on the screen, it turned on again - with ****ed up colors. Then started flickering and was gone again. Few more times I could turn it on by tapping before it was dead for good.
Figured, after all these drops it survived, maybe the screen connector is a bit loose. I mean, I could sometime get a contact when tapping it, so I dissasambled it completely, secured all the connection, put it all back tougether and fired up - same thing: dead screen, phone working.
Has anyone had such problem before? Is it screen that is dead, or connector or... I have no clue... I would like try to fix it on my own, with some replacement parts I could get on ebay - but, what gave?
Hey guys, today I noticed something weird on the left-est (if that's even a word) panel of my HOX. When i click on bottom half of the screen, a white pixel appears and stays there until i touch the screen again and sometimes the white pixel just flashes! This only happens on the 1st panel (from the left) and I don't know if it's just a glitch or a hardware problem. The thing is, this is my second HOX (I had another one for 1 week before replacing it (it had a small black circle-y spot) ) and I had it for more than 2 weeks and the returns policy of the store I bought it from says that they can't replace it if it's more than 2 weeks old. Any ideas if it's hardware or software related, or even ways to check so?
UPDATE:
I think you'd want to know that I have an HT23 model
I had a similar problem with a bright red pixel at the left of the center of the screen. It usually appeared when I am not touching the screen and disappears when I do. After the screen got a yellow tint that appeared next to the volume up button which got worse the hotter the phone got, I took it to the shop and they replaced the "touch, battery and speaker". Touch pretty much means screen as well, I have no idea why they changed the other 2.
It's definitely a hardware problem since I had a similar issue with a stock phone. Btw the yellow tint appeared after 5-6 months, the red pixel was there pretty much from the beginning.

So should I go and ask/demand for a replacement? It doesn't bother me, I don't even use that panel at all, what annoys me is the fact that this is the second HOX I've had and it also has a problem!
It's a hardware fault go and demand for a replacing (HT26+/SH26+).And, if someone later on (in this thread or else ware) suggest to use a software to fix it. Don't bother with it.
I have HT25 with yellow tint showing from time to time. It's annoying me, and still I didn't get the chance to give to to HTC care.

Okay, I will, thank you.
EDIT:
But, if they tell me that my returning period has passed, what will I tell them?
In case anyone else suffers the same symptoms - a couple of weeks ago, my G3 started running really slowly (and possibly a bit hotter).
Booting from cold seemed to take a long time and the ui starred freezing temporarily on a regular basis.
I was waiting for an ota marshmallow update and hoped that would fix whatever was making it go slow.
I was wrong.
The other night, I was using it and the screen went bright blue and the phone then started boot looping. Sometimes it only got as far as the LG logo and other times it for all the way to the lock screen (on a couple of occasions I could get to the desktop and use the phone 'normally'). Every time it ended up blue screening and then rebooting.
Ultimately, it was dead and despite managing a full wipe, nothing fixed it.
As a phone, when it worked it was ok but cracking screen, poor call quality (only realised that when I got a different phone) and general slow downs (possibly related to overheating (and I could only infrequently increase screen brightness to full because of the warning about overheating) means that I think this phone has been fair rather than excellent.
Its motherboard problem only way to fix it is replace it with new one
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
That's what I thought. Phone is well over a year old, so just got a different one.
Good feedback for anyone who has similar symptoms.
I have the same problem, went to the LG service center in my country
and yes they said that I had to replace the motherboard, because the IC power is broken
the cost is around $160, 1/3 the phone price when I bought it mid 2014
I have only used my phone for only 1.5 years and very disappointed with the quality of G3 phone
same **** happened to me, they replaced the motherboard, luckily it was still under warranty.
Don't update its motherboard problem
Same here blue screen came and phone is dead. Gone to lg service center and they told to replace the motherboard yesterday.
The whole phone now only cost 1000AED and they are telling me that motherboard replacement is gonna cost me 950AED .what the heck, better to buy a new phone. Atleast i will get one yeAr warranty new phone for same cost hehe...
The updation of lg g3 software is the main reason for this, so dont update the phone to new version of android pls.
Sorry to unbury such an older thread.
I just got a new (sic) LG G3 D855. A few minutes after the official LG updates were installed, the screen began flickering, with intermediate blue screens, and consecutive reboots. After a BSOD the screen went dark, and the phone seemd to be powered off. I am not sure about this, but I could not power it on again for approx. 20 minutes. Then it was starting again, but I feel very uncomfortable about it and plan to ask for a replacement, since I have full warranty.
Before I return it:
How to I find out the manufacturing year of the motherboard and/or if there is a newer revision or something? Is it printed on the motherboard or readable via an app (e.g. CPU-Z or similar - if I can start it at all)?
Any help in this regard is very much appreciated. Thank you.
Wishing you all a great year 2020!
Hello guys!

I'm here to report a sad thing that is happening to me. I'll try to keep it short.
I bought my Zenfone 2 64/4 and got it by first days of october. It's one of the best and fastest phones I've ever used. I noticed the display came defective with the lower left corner a little dimmer than the rest of it, but I couldn't care less because increasing brightness would solve my problem. The bad part was on about december or january when I dropped my phone, I did drop it twice: it slipped from my hands the first time but it was a light fall of like 30 cm; and the second was from greater height and so intense it got scratches on the back cover and the frame, (the impact was on the case and it got no scratches, none at all, like ZERO) but the screen remained intact.
After that second fall, maybe a couple of weeks later, I started to notice a weird color "seeping" and some vertical lines. The screen tarted to look like a painting on a canvas which got splashed with water and the colors started to "fall" and merge with the ones below.
I've been living with my screen like that for like 4 months now and no problem at all, I was thinking about buying a new lcd replacement. But wanyway.... now for the important part.
Problem

Now, after I opened my phone and tried to "connect" the loose cables from the screen (after an impact, it's possible the cables to ge loose), noticed that the screen didn't get better and that problem was not going to disappear. After a failed attempt to repair it, I sealed the phone again and some days passed (like less than 4). Suddenly, I notice weird glitches on the screen and uninstalled CyanogenMod 13 and reverted back to ZenUI, since I though CM 13 was causing the graphic glitches. After restoring ZenUI, I notice the glitches are still present and it's driving me crazy. It only happens on a certain portion of the screen, the top of it is working correctly. Aaaaand, to feed my paranoia, I've seen picture on Google of dead graphics cards and those weird glitches are similar to mine
TL;DR

I am scared, I want the problem to be the screen and not the GPU; if it's the GPU (or CPU), I am screwed. This phone was supposed to be my girl's gift after I got an LG G4. Gonna upload a video later, so you can see the problem. :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
Why don't you submit you Asus at service center ??
I don't think they will ever help me since I rooted my phone and installed CM. Void warranty.

Flash the black splashscreen zip through whichever recovery you use first in case you still have the white asus splash screen indicating your bootloader is unlocked. Try and flash stock rom on your phone and remove root through Supersu app after this and hope they don't check if your bootloader is unlocked as that's what counts. Take it back to the shop. All the best

Actually, I don't have an USA address. ASUS loves USA but not México nor South America. Bad luck for me.
Proof
Here's a proof that this display is acting B-A-D-L-Y.
Hello, two days ago I notice that occasionally my front screen touch screen stopped working. It starts to work for a while but then stopped for good. I restart the phone and start to work again for a few hours and now stopped again. I hard reset it but no luck. The screen works, but the touch function is not available. I have had it for almost 9 months and it was perfect till this moment. I have the August update from Samsung and I think this causes the problem-software problem maybe?

Try running diagnostics in settings->device care to test it
I can only do diagnostic when the phone is open. There is no problem with the touch screen there, but when I close it the touch screen does not work
Not trying to scare you, but exactly the same happened to me like 2 weeks ago. Screen was still showing everything crystal clear, but touch functionality was not given anymore.
Went to Samsung Repair Shop (Germany) and they told me would need to drop it off there for repair. They ordered front screen, in the end repair person found out that some electric-mechanical components had to be fixed. In addition to front screen they even replaced the inner screen and both batteries!
Fortunately everything within warranty, otherwise would have cost me more than 700€.
Best thing would be, go to Repair Shop near you and let them check the device. Crossed fingers that it maybe is not as bad as with my Fold 3.

Thank you for your answer. I spoke with my friend who has a repair shop and we thinks that the front screen is bad. Lucky that I have 12 months warranty left. Tomorrow I'm sending it back on warranty and to see what the retailer will tell
Hi there,
I had already faced this problem, then I sent my in Fold 3 service center.
