I tried to set up a set of BT Stereo Headphones in a shop the other day to test them. We couldn't get them to go so we could listen to mp3s. I use GSPlayer.
Has anybody done this successfully? How do you tell the Magician (WM5) to output the sounds to the bluetooth headset and not to the normal headphones audio output socket?
many thanks,
Zaine.
Cant remeber where i got and who to give props too. but here it is
just run the output all audio to bluetooth and the run the other to turn off
and the auto mode which i havent tested out yet
Bewdiful.
Bewdy mate.
Thanks very much, that seems to do the trick. It works with my normal headset now. I'll go back to the shop now and test those other headphones.
The auto toggle seems to work OK as well, btw.
Once again, thanks a million.
Good deal. I gotta try this out. Will this work w/ the Wizard?
It doesn't work with my Magician + BHCS BT Patch...
I've read plenty of threads about this. For Magician, A2DP is WMP only. Doesn't work with anything else.
Mind you, this is what everyone else has said. I have not tested this myself.
I can confirm that, in my experience.
Also: WMP is pretty rubbish about its A2DP support. For some reason it'll only stream mp3s within a certain bitrate, too low and it uses the device's speaker.
It won't do non-stnadard sample-rates either, and on most setups it seems to "burp" every few seconds.
Ik am succesfull with the standard WMP though. It plays all bitrates, and only rarely stutters... So when I use WMP, I am satisfied!
Works fine, just bad quality sound with Bluetooth.
Well, I tried again in the shop and everything worked fine on my Magician (a T Mobile MDA compact with WM5). However, the sound quality was pretty rubbish. The sales guy reckoned that was a function of Bluetooth.
So, not a winner there. But, I can now listen to my voice recordings and podcasts via my normal BT Headset, which is really handy.
Thanks again to the Frioman - a really useful couple of apps. The toggle is on my Today page now!

Yeah, I got this all the time, espically if I fast forwarded and rewound. And I was re-encoding mp3s to different bitrates, constant and variable without much success.
"Damn WMP and it's lack of features! The stupid thing can only play MP3s... and... WMA..."
I did a few test re-encodes to WMA 9 (not 9.1) @ 192 and now I get those burps and crackles every ... ten minutes? Half an hour? Definitly not every... what, twenty seconds to a minute.
If this is a problem for you, try re-encoding to WMA 9 @ 192. I use dbPowerAmp http://www.dbpoweramp.com/
ooff! took me about 2 and 1/2 days to re-find this thread again!! can we get a sticky on this????
used this on my Wizard (aka mda) and my Moto H3 and now can listen to my tv shows on the train w/my bt headset!
thanks!!!

There is three icons one for audio off and one for audio on and one for toggle.
I ran one at a time but after 15 or 20 minutes I loose blue tooth connections and the communications manager freezes and when I click on the blue tooth Icon in settings it does nothing, I have to turn the mda off and then I can listen over the blue tooth again, but after 1or 20 minutes it does it again.

BT Audio User Problem
I downloaded BT Audio and installed the three .exe files on my 8525. Soft reset the device and then toggled the audio on.exe. Sound still coming out of the speaker and not the BT headset.
I do have the BT-620's and they work fine (even before the BT Audio install). I am trying to accomplish being able to listen to WM without having to lug the BT-620's around all the time.
I am wondering if having the 620's software is conflicting with BT Audio?
Also, I think to get the audio stream to play to the headset, one has to activate the voice dialing feature from the headset? I can get the sound to play only for a few seconds when I do this. Do I need to de-activate voice dialing? If so, how?
Thanks and Happy Holidays
Wokring great with Plantranics voyer 510
Thanks for such nice software....it is working great in my mda and voyer 510 bluetooh head set.

Hi all
As this is my first post I just want to say a big thankyou for all the contributers to this site, awesome information and keep up the good work.
I have been running Black Majik on my M3100 for a week or so now and have been really impressed. the only slightly annoying problem I have is with my BT Stereo headset (HTC BH S100) which I have had only a couple of days.
Listening to music and controlling the media player(s) (Audio Manager and WMP) is fine, the problem I get is answering/initiating calls from the headset. After a reboot of the phone, the headset works OK for both music and calls, but after turning the headset off/on, the call handling functions don't work although wireless stereo does - its as though the phone loses the headset profile but not wireless stero. Stopping/Starting the BT stack from comm manger seems to reinstate the headset functions but this is frustrating!
I have searched multiple forums but have not found anything of use yet!!
Does anyone have any ideas
Thanks in advance
M.

Up ... Same WM6 version, same problem ... with a Nokia BT Headset, and a Sony Ericsson too ...
Thank you.
guess i have a worse problem then. cant hear my phone ring from my BT HS. not that ive tried to figure it out. i can live without listening to music. but it would be interesting to know how everyone is able to hear their phone ring from their headsets. im thinking its because of my headset. i have a moto hs810. does anybody concur?

I have the same problem and I've tried a P3600 and kaiser and the same problem.
As merlynuk wrote the problem seem that the HD lose a free hand function of it profile and only a reset and sometime a pairng od device solve it.
It's for me important to use this function in car or call a voice command but the MTB button seem not work.
bought this HD because belived it would be perfect with a HTC PDA but it's not really.
Do you have some suggestion ?
Do you believe it's better to sell this HD and to buy another ?
Someone know a HD device thet work perfectly as free hand and function as a call, a start a vocal command etc etc work fine ?
Regards
aladino
got the same problem: bought the HTC BH S100 after my touch cruise cause I thought to have no problem with vocal commands, but it doesn't work. music, player control, phone and pairing are perfect but no vocal dialling..
how can we solve this??
My opinion is that the bluetooth audio quality on the HTC Desire is terrible!
When playing music, in most of the tracks I hear clicking/crackling noise when some frequency/dB/something else is reached.
To illustrate what I mean, I have uploaded an audio fragment in which you can hear a similar noise.
Download fragment (MP3) Warning! it's drum n bass
You can hear the sound at the very beginning and at around 6 seconds (and at the end). As if a tweeter (speaker for higher frequencies) get overloaded.
I don't know if it is related to the phone's hardware, (radio) firmware or the Android OS. I've tried different music players, radio firmwares and custom roms. I also enabled an equalizer for bt audio using DSPManager. Unfortunately, nothing helped
edit: Using current versions of DeFoST or OpenDesire (and maybe others), the bt sound quality is how it should be! Fixed for me, but I hope an update from HTC will do the same.
Btw, this crackling/clicking is not only related to the HTC Desire, I have heard it on more (non-android) phones that were connected to my bt audio setup (in car). Unfortunately I haven't been able to test other Android phones, but my old Nokia N82 and SE K800i always sounded clear.
My guess is that it's just a non-controllable system setting of Android to solve the problem, but I don't know where (config/settings files?) to search for BT audio settings.
Any ideas?
That's the typical audio quality of a mediocre A2DP device: give a try at a Sony Ericsson MW-600 headset, you'll see what an Hi-Fi Bluetooth device is.

I'm running Defrost rom now and the sound quality is perfect, how it should be! So, it's not related to the audio device, or the default settings/drivers of the Desire are "too good" for my audio device (Pioneer BT unit @ car audio), which I think is not the case, since I also had this noise on my Logitech Pure-Fi.

Actually I recently owned this headsert but the quality of the sound was still terrible. I thought it was a problem with the headset at first, but that is not the case. I returned it and bought a Jabra BT3030 and the problem still persists. Anyone know if this is actually a problem with the phone or is it software related? I can add that I don't hear these noises when streaming audio through e.g. the youtube app, only mp3 and it doesn't matter which player I use (I've tried loads).
I have the jabra dogtags, audio playback sounds exactly the same as when my headphones are plugged in direct (tested it several times, culd not tell the difference), except that I have a louder volume via the jabra, which is all good as I listen to drum and bass also. Mabey device fault?

well if it would've been device fault you'd think that I'd hear that noise through youtube streams as well.
But yeah as tutti-frutti stated it might be a software issue, which points me towards a root. But since I'd rather not root atm, anyone knows any other solution?
Might try a hard reset first and hope for the best. I will get back to you on that .
Thank you so much for describing my problem!!
I am currently downloading OpenDesire. Just in case that it does not work, where do i find DeFost??? I can't find it on the Market.
Thanks again!
I have Samsung Epic 4g.
nope Desire's Bluetooth audio quality is good in fact Awesome..!!
-May be the problem is not with the phone, its with Bluetooth head set you are using.
-My suggestion is to use Nokia or Motorola A2DP Stereo head phones
-I'm using Motorola motorkr S9 hd ,,,its awesome..!!
-Try this ,,it might work

For me, it is an issue with my car, not headphones.
A little UP!
Having the same issues with a Nokia BH-504 headset. Music quality is poor with every Sense ROM (original, rooted, Sense HD, whatever), sound like the tweeters are overloaded.
Definetly not a problem with the headset, it sound perfect with HTC Legend.
Tried to switch to non-Sense ROM (DeFrost, OpenDesire, etc.). The quality is perfect, but music play stops every 1-2 minutes for a second. Very irritating. Anyone experienced this? Is this a problem with my Desire, should I send it for warranty? (Don't want to send without enough evidence, don't wanna be without a phone for weeks...)
Okay, update: Tested the new Gingerbread AOSP and still having these stops at 2-3 minutes. Very strange...
Anyone any idea? Can I debug the bluetooth transfer somehow? Logcat didn't really show anything... Can it be a fault of the phone?

You need an sd r/w-buffer fix in kernel to stop that. I don't know if it comes with any senseless rom though. Maybe you could try the lite version of baadnewz hd rom.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Thanks, I'll look into it. But if that's the problem, it would affect music playback with wired headphones too, isn't it?
And with Sense ROMs I have the overloaded tweeter-like problem, but no stutters. With non-Sense ROMs I have beautiful audio quality but music stops for a second randomly.
Update: Checked Aura ROM with sdfix, no problem with stuttering, but still the overloaded high-frequency problem. Meanwhile I checked that this SD fix is available only for Sense ROMs because it's HTC's hacking, the AOSP versions have no SD problems.
Oh, good lord! I was nearly to believe that I'm some sort of audiophile!
I'm using Plantronics 903 with my Desire and sound quality is just OK (I'm using SENSE ROM, will try OpenDesire in a bit). However, I cannot say I was expecting more.
What funny is happened today: I paired my 903 with PC today - sound quality was nearly same like my Desire, then I noticed someting in Bluetooth Setting Panel of PC. There was a combo box which labeled as "Audio Quality" and it was at the "Low" setting. I switched it "High Quality" and reconnected the device and voila! The sound has been thousands of times better!
Now I'm wondering if such a switch is also available in Desire? Maybe not obvious, but a Kernel variable perhaps? Damn that I don't know a sh** about programming these devices :'(
EDIT : Funny - I think that setting was not of PC's, but Headset's! It's quite well right now! And I didn't even try OpenDesire yet!

I have similar sound issues on non-sense roms. I believe it's mostly to do with range is just not quite as good as with sense based roms. I haven't had time to really figure out why yet.
Okay, so they replaced my Nokia BH-504 headset with a new one, still the same issue with Desire Sense ROMs but Legend Sense is still good. So it's not an issue with the headset (well, could be a general incompatibility problem, but I don't think so) Will check my laptop and a Gingerbread ROM on the Desire. Okay, conclusion after further tests with the replaced headset:
with Desire Sense ROMs: horrible quality in the high frequencies with every MP3.
with Desire non-Sense ROMs (OpenDesire, Gingerbred, etc): Good quality, but music play stops for a secons every 1-2 minutes.
with HP TouchSmart TM2 notebook: Quality problem AND music sutter BOTH
with HTC Legend original Froyo ROM: No problem
with Sony Ericsson X8: No problem
with HTC Touch HD: Quality problem
The headset has been replaced with a new one, same errors occur.
I have no idea what's wrong. I can't believe 2 phone's and a notebook's Bluetooth chip is faulty. So this could be an incompatiblity, hooray for great Bluetooth standard specification I should try a Nokia BH-905 and a Sennheiser MM400, will try them after buy (in the store!) and hand them immediately back if there will be a problem with them
Chapell, I have the same problem as you, with the Nokia BH-504 headset. So far the headset works great with the stock ROM, LeeDroid ROMs or just about any Froyo ROM. Gingerbread-based ROMs or Cyanogen nightlies, or any of the AdamG's Oxygen ROMS, on the other hand, they all have the same issue - every 90 seconds or so there is a glitch, the audio stream skips for half a second or so - very, very annoying keeps you from getting in the mood.
My observations: it is not SD card related, youtube video with the audio part streamd through the bluetooth headset also skips (also tried an SD read-ahead zip patch - no change); also, the glitch doesn't manifest using wired headphones; it has nothing to do with CPU spikes (the music player and the BT connection were the only open applications after a fresh ROM install); it has nothing to do with WiFi being on or off; it has nothing to do with 3G/2G network being active or not, or the GPS; using a different radio also doesn't help (scenario - radio X used with N.S.A. ROM -> no glitch; the same radio used with Oxygen 2.0 RC7 -> glitch)...
My guess - as noobish as it may be - is that this issue is related to some kind of buffering in the streaming process - I compared a few bluetooth configuration files in various ROMs, but couldn't figure any setting related to buffering or such.
If anyone could help, I would be very grateful!
Thanks for the info. If I understand correctly, you had no problems with BH-504 using Sense ROMs. So no high frequency distortion, nothing. This means that my phone is definetly faulty
However it seems the non-Sense skips are not unique for me. Strange, no one uses a BT headset with non-Sense ROMs or it could be a problem only with the BH-504?
Hello. I have a Desire HD with android 2.2.1.
Last year I had a HTC Touch HD with windows mobile. I bought a chinese copy of the jabra bt3030. The sound was out of sync with any video I could play. I didn't try with other phones, anyway I didn't spend that much for the headset, so I just sold it on ebay....thinking that that's why people don't buy chinese copies. OR maybe it was a problem of the transmitter of the Touch HD...so I didn't buy anything else and stayed with the normal wired earphones instead of having another stereo bluetooth headset.
NOW
I have the Desire HD, and bought THE ORIGINAL jabra BT3030. EXACTLY the same problem: youtube, trailers from MDB, .avi TV-rips played with rockplayer ---- EVERYTHING has this horrible out-of-sync audio which makes it impossible to watch even 5 second of a video without getting crazy.
I mean is that a problem of every stereo headset? IS that too much information to be sent to the headset? What can I do to make the sound sync with the video?
I have a stock rom.
Does anyone have this kind of problem? With which phone? With which headset? Is there any support forum for the Jabra BT3030 (it is the dog-tag one) ?
Last time it was a cheap 20$ chinese copy....this time is a retail 65$ boxed jabra....and I EXPECT it to work properly...
maybe you can set up the connection as new. or reset to factory settings
what do you mean by 'set as new' ? I paired the devices today for the first time. Reset to factory settings...is something i would rather not do
BT connections have a small delay.
You can try to set some BT settings to create a smaller buffer or something...

for instance? which BT settings could I adjust?
About the delay: i used until now a normal mono bluetooth headset, which is not A2DP so cannot reproduce media content (music or games sound and so on). There is a paid app on the market called BT Switch. This app redirects every sound of the phone to the mono bluetooth headset, allowing you to listen to music, hear the GPS directions, watch a video on youtube with the sound on the mono headset and so on.....well, there isn't any delay. That's why i can't understand why the stereo headset has so much delay....ok, it is stereo, more informations to send and so on...but the mono one has NO delay at all.
But of course a stereo solution with good earphones is much better than a mono with the low quality sound of every mono headset, which are built only to use the phone and not reproduce any kind of media sound...
**** FIXED - it is a software problem with my tracks. GPS and Bluetooth work great through other GPS apps ****
I have a pair of bluebuds x and Jabra rox headphones and I get serious audio skipping and Bluetooth dropouts when streaming audio in offline mode. It happens at different spots on the same songs, but different again by headphone so I think it is the smartwatch.
Anyone else experiencing this? I took them running with the watch for two 5 mile jogs and it's worse when moving than when standing still. Also seems worse with my tracks watch GPS running without phone.
I did the resets, repairing headsets, etc...
Hopefully it's a firmware fix as they sound fine directly connected to my moto x. Anyone else try this?
- sent from tablet, so apologize for typos
bad news...
My question is about your running session. Did you use any app without the phone to track it? Is Google fit or My Tracks good enough for the GPS thing?, at least to wait for full proper running apps (without the need of the phone).
Using Google tracks without the phone.... Do you have issues too?
Not, just curious. My sw 3 will arrive next week.

Update...I swapped out my watch for a new one and still the same issue, so it must be the unit. I get Bluetooth drops when playing offline when
- screen goes from active to stanby mode
- When my tracks is running in active mode (works in mute mode), so something between the apps is causing problems
Next test would be different bluetooh headphones.... or just wait for more reports from other users.

All the same issue!

So we are now sure the crappy support for bluetooth at the moment. While we wait for future updates, can you try to select the lowest quality for offline playback in Google play music?
Perhaps high bitrate mp3 are not well managed by the watch... Just guessing.

You cant change the offline bitrate on google music...it is predetermined. Lets hope android wear 2.0 supposed to be ready this week fixes this and much more!
Ok. Let's hope a fix is coming, but I would not think about wear 2.0. Google only said features like gps and music would be the next step and that is already here. The other watches got the update a couple of weeks ago... So I think we're already in "2.0".

I've got the Bluetooth music stuttering too, but only with my tracks (gps) and offline music playing. No problem with offline music play without my tracks. I think too this must be a problem with the Bluetooth and gps combo. Since the main reason I bought the Smartwatch 3 was as a fitness wearable for running. The only thing that sets this device apart is the phone free music with gps, Bluetooth, and wifi radios. I hope they can fix it through a update. Otherwise I won't be keeping it and can't recommend it.
I can report no stuttering with Plantronics Backbeat GO 2 with offline music play. Didn't try it in conjunction with GPS though.
Well ive tried it every which way with the Sony ws-610s and no skipping at all! Not sure what bluetooth they use, ill have a look tomorrow.
I got my SW3 today
I can confirm the stuttering when the screen goes to standby and when you start applications, etc.
I started the gps (from the developer menu) and did not get any stuttering.
I'm thinking that this is more of a software problem (at kernel level) and not a hardware problem so it might be fixed (at least I hope so) with a firmware update.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm using the Sony SBH20 bluetooth headset
I guess we should file a bug for this.
I was afraid of getting the skip issue from this thread, however, today was the first day that I was able to try the offline features of the watch. I have no skipping issues at all and that was running both the GPS and the Headset for music with the screen turning off during my run. I am running the new Sony MDR-AS800BT headset. So far this headset is definitely one of the better ones that I have owned for sport use! It does not fall out whatsoever.
I wonder if it has something to do with the Bluetooth version. My headset is BT 3.0. I guess the MDR-AS800BT is BT 4.0 or later.
I keep thinking this is a problem of resources... the kernel is putting the cores in the processor in a economy state that is not powerful enough to encode to the BT headset and simultaniously handle the my tracks app and the GPS flow. Android 4.3 had a bug like that and they did fix it.
Maybe the difference in user experiences depends on whether music is in 128kbps or 320kbps or more. Can anyone with stuttering try with maybe the same song with different mp3 bitrates?
I'm looking to buy this thing, but after my terrible experience with Samsung Gear Fit, I am waiting to see the user experiences and problems.
GPS erratic differences may be as a result of some users not waiting long enough to get decent GPS fix, which takes a while with standalone devices and no network.
I tried the jabra rox, which were bt 4.0 and then bluebuds x which were 2.1 and the rox were actually worse. No Sony headphones to test here in NY at the major retailers.
I think it's software too or perhaps the tracks app is bad with resources
The MDR-AS800BT is bluetooth 3.0, as for the sound quality I was using 320kbps files in my run. No issues whatsoever. Anyone tried lossless files? I wanted to try tidal on the wear for offline playback. I hope they get the walkman soon to use with the wear.
