The best ROM is the one that suits your needs, everyone has different choices. Don't know about Fi, but Pure Nexus does support it. Fingerprint works regardless of unlocking the bootloader or not, it also works on every custom rom provided for the phone. There is no issues with the phone. And battery life is depending on your usage, i'm getting around 4h SOT every day. (More or less). That should be everything.

Best rom is subjective, the fingerprint scanner works fine even when you've rooted/modified the rom.
Anything you need to know? Well, I was surprised by the capabilities and quality of the phone considering the price.
The battery is what it is, with heavy usage I've got 12h battery life with ~3h sot, I'll need to do some more testing and optimizing though. Another weak point is the speaker, it does its job but gets distorted on the last 3 volume levels and it doesn't get that loud.
I have never had a mid range phone like this before though, so I can't really compare the speakers fairly.
Other than that nothing had really bothered me, and considering the price it can be easily forgiven.
If you have any specific questions go ahead and ask.

Perfect, thanks. I don't use the speaker on my phones anyways so that shouldn't be an issue.

That is one of the dissadvantage i see of this phone.
The only 2 cons :
The phone (can) heat up a lot if you play highly graphical games..
The speaker is horrible when it's on full volume. but it's allright when the volume is low.
The pros:
Android stock OS feels much stabler then any other androidphone.
battery life average 3.5-5h screen on time. 3.5h is the avarage if you are a heavy user. (social, gaming, internet browsing) and sometimes i can get up to 5h.
Build quality is actually ok. the polycarbonate material feels very premium.
The price is definitly worth it.
Everything else, camera, screen, fingerprintscanner nothing to complain about.
Thanks guys.
The wife has one but asking her about anything is useless as all she does is play candy crush and go on social media.

I am fortunate enough to have the phones I want. I have an S4, HTC One among others.
Been using the S4 since it came out on Verizon and decided to give the HTC One a try. I always liked HTC.
So far I really like the phone, love the HTC keyboard, love the display and camera. I am also very surprised by how much I like beats, either speaker or Bluetooth. I also like the simplicity of sense when compared to touchwiz. As a Google music user, I love the lock screen controls, it matches the whole look of the phone and I wish I had something like this on the S4.
I really don't care about the materials used to make the phone but I do have to say, the One looks amazing. The more I look at it, the more I like, however, the S4 feels better in the hands, has a more comfortable grip.
I really don't like BlinkFeed and I miss sense's weather widget on 3rd party launchers. Dislike not having a brightness slider in the notification bar, hate not changing my battery.
I really miss some features of the S4 wish the S4 had some features available on the One.
By far, the best HTC phone I ever used but I don't think this phone is better or worse than the S4.

Some stuff that bothers me, based on my usage.
Battery life isn't as good as the S4, I expected this however because I knew this phone had a smaller battery. But I feel the drop in battery life is worse than I expected. What makes this more annoying is the fact that charging this device TAKES FOREVER. If I am using it as a GPS device, whether it be Waze or Google maps. I can't even get it to charge. It will either hold it's charge or loose some. This is with a 2amp car charger.
Other than that, I love the slightly smaller screen. 4.7" is a good stopping point. haha. And the speakers on this thing, wow. It's not insanely louder than my S4, but the clarity is insane for a phone. Love it.
Display is superior than that of the S4 as well. I don't know that I will want AMOLED screens anymore.
Sense trumps Touchwiz, I think we all knew that. I almost want to say I prefer this look than Stock AOSP.
Now if only I could get root, so I can remove the Verizon bloat.

I am kinda surprised at all the comments about this having bad battery life. I got 6 hours of screen on time (100% wifi with 20% brightness) a couple days ago: http://i44.tinypic.com/24b7vw1.png
Yesterday, I got down to about 50% (100% LTE with 20% brightness) with nearly 3 hours of screen on time. The phone was unplugged at 8am and plugged in around 10pm at 50%. My previous phone (Droid Bionic) would be LUCKY to receive 3 hours of screen on time on a single charge whether it be on wifi, 3G, or LTE.
Today, I am currently at 60% (100% LTE with 20% brightness) with 2.15 hours screen on time and the phone has been unplugged since 8am.:http://i43.tinypic.com/x1f37n.png
Seems pretty good to me!
I am not sure what the deal is with the battery hate either.
I go all day and still have ~30% to spare at bed time.
Nothing compares to the HTC Rezound I guess.
I get amazing battery life as well.
Also, I totally disagree that the S4 feels better in the hand. To me, the One is just... Awesome. The feel of the metal vs the cheap plastic feel of the S4. Blah.
Good post though. Always nice to hear others opinions.

Oh man. That fantastic cool sensation you receive when you pick up your HTC One in the morning is just amazing, right?
Having both the S4 and the HTC one, the HTC just blows the S4 away IMHO.
I love it.
The feel, the build quality, and HTC Sense.
I also feel the S4 will never get boot loader unlock while the htc one has a much greater chance of getting unlock and hopefully even S-OFF.
I also personally feel that the htc one feel WAY better in hand than the s4.
I do feel like I can toss my S4 around though and not worry while I don't feel the same with the htc one, I may have to actually get a case
i find the battery to be good, it comes off the charger at 5:30 in the morning and i normally have around 20% left when i go to bed around 11. But i'm used to the galaxy nexus which couldn't last half a day.
I have been swapping between the One and S4 since Thursday...the S4 trumps the One in in screen size...I definitely prefer 5 over 4.7 in most situations but not all haha...expandable memory and removable battery are nice to have but non-factors to me...I'm rooted and been on a custom ROM since day 1, so u have never experienced the supposed "lag" from the stock software...also I never accepted the OTA, so I can flash all I want
The one is like a jewel though. I never used cases on any my phones, but as soon as I held the One in the store, a case was an instant cop. Speakers on the One are amazing, the clarity is ridiculous. Battery life is OK, I have about 65% on my S4 after work compared to 50% on my One. The build of the one is nice, but is a non-factor to me...
I like both phones though, I feel bad leaving my S4 at home when I use my One for the day and vice versa...

haha I feel the same way, never use a case, but the htc one I just feel I might have to. not sure yet, need more time with it.
I feel bad even leaving my s3 behind, that phone is still killer haha.
S4 will never get unlocked, but at least the htc one I have faith, I will be selling s4 after 6 month period of no boot loader unlock, i give it 6 months then move on.
I guess we can add "battery life" to the common issues of death and taxes Reality is comparing each other's battery life has too many variables to compare, so seems surprising folks keep attempting it. Huge weighted factors combined equals no practical way to compare except your own use with a previous device.
Network area strength in relation to where using the device
Apps used and duration
Data radios on in weak area when not being used
Social apps and any background updating
Display brightness
Streaming cloud data (big battery drain compared to local content)
What other radios being used or on at time
Animations in UI
Wallpapers (live ones are not battery friendly)
Seriously, how on earth can anyone compare within 50% and be accurate (at even 50%)? Answer is only if a fluke will you be anywhere close to relative.
Sorry, double post. Having issues with xda app running like puke.

I absolutely love the speakers. I have a phone mount on my bike and it was okay with my old Dinc (it has some felt pads so there's about a quarter inch of space to bounce the sound back and amplify it a bit) but not only do those front speakers sound perfect me but I get turned heads from pedestrians
Even goofier, I put it in the sink while I'm showering in the morning, and can even hear the bass that way.
As for battery life, went out riding this morning to take pictures at a parade, was still at 80% when I got home. As a medical student I'm almost always at home or at school or in the hospital, thus always on wifi, so this thing is great. Looking at the battery graph the only rapid drops come when the 4G signal is weak.

I have been looking for a decent mid range phone for a few weeks now. I've basically narrowed it down to the Moto G and this. I was about to purchase it when I thought to check XDA. Of course I see a massive thread about poor battery life and a few other threads mentioning it.
Just how bad is it? Will it not last me a busy day? I want this phone over the Moto G since it has a micro SD card slot but I'm not going to buy a phone if it has a poor battery life. I'm not quite sure if the battery issues are overblown or not since that tends to happen a lot.
Also, how is the performance? I hear a lot of bad things about touchwiz so I thought I'd ask. What phone of the two would you recommend?

It's apparently pretty good in terms of battery life, and performance is on par with the Galaxy Note II, it might 'feel' faster though, since the screen resolution is a lot smaller than the Note II.
Source: I'm getting one tomorrow, time to upgrade my Note I.

I have this phone for a few months now GT-9195 however the battery life is crappy it really is the phone hardly last 2 days on a battery with Lite to no usage ! In a busy day it last around 12 hours.
Also the build quality of the phone is not very good my phone has scratches on it already which are noticeable !
I don`t know about the Moto G ! However the phone is fast and it`s in nice form factor which was key for me as I don`t like 5" phones !

I've had mine for about 5 months battery life is pretty poor on touchwiz. I charge my phone overnight when I'm asleep and have not needed to top it up since I started running various flavours of CM.

Saying build quality is not very good because it shows scratches is a bit harsh, most phones will get scratches which will be noticeable.
Poor build quality means bits fall off or break or stop working, which I've heard nothing about on this or any other forum.

I would agree on your last comment,
I love my little Mini
I think the battery is ok, as long as you switch off the smart stay, the battery does last longer.
I agree with the last poster, having scratches does not mean it's bad quality built, may be if the phone is looked after then you won't get scratches, I have a glass screen protector and a cheap case, this has giving me about 98% protection, with only the sensor, mic and button not covered.
Hi
I'm thinking to switch from a note 4 to a LG G4 but before I wanted to decide on want to ask the G4 users how there experience is with the phone. How is battery life and heat with this phone? How is camera?
I'm a moderate gamer but I watch often movies on my phone. S pen is not that important for me
the biggest problem of LG G4 is only about battery. I personally just can achieve 4-6 hours of battery life. My G4 was worked normally until last week: the temperature became 60'C, always restarting when overheated (now my G4 is at LG Service Center). Camera is absolutely the best, even note5 can't beat it. Screen size is only 5.5, so if you came from Note3 or Note4, you'll miss roomy screen. So, if you need best camera, buy it, otherwise upgrade to other phone IMHO
I dont know how battery life will improve with the marshmallow update. I just updated yesterday so time will show that. I would say battery life is about 4-5hrs SOT. If you are used to longer screen on time you might be in for a suprise. However the camera is the best i have seen. I don't know how it would compare to the note 5. Another device worth looking at is the Nexus 6P. It is up there with the best so maybe go into a store and check it out. Bottom line im happy with my LG G4. No lag at all

I came from a Note 4. I loved my Note, but figured out, that after a while I didn't need the S-Pen anymore.
The G4 is not as "Productive" as the Note, but comes along with an awesome camera and, if you're rooted and got the right apps on you phone, with a good battery life.
In fact, I'm happy to have changed from Samsung to the G4, but it's surely a question of taste, too. But I can recommend it. I'm super satisfied Cheers

I have no heat problems and as I said: Battery life is good for me. Usually I have 2 days until I have to charge my phone again (If I'm not using it very often).
Otherwise I have to charge it every 24 hours, if I'm using it alot.
I think there's no big difference between the battery life of the Note 4 and the G4. I usually had to charge both phones at night, which is pretty much ok for me.
If I had to make a choice I'd say the LG G4 lasts a little longer (if rooted) Cheers
EDIT: If I'm power using it I get like 5-6 hours SOT, which is also similar to the Note 4
Remember results may vary.
The guy above me is getting 5 -6 hours SOT. But for me I can only achieve that when I am at home on wifi all day. And maybe the same is true for follow_and_feel. So it really depends on your day to day activities.
In a nutshell. If you're in a area with spotty connectivity, battery life will take a huge plummet. On work days my building is in a spotty area, and the phone lasts me until the end of the day with maybe 5-10%. With 3ish hours SOT under my belt. If the network wasn't spotty I'd probably look at 4 hours or more.
The only time I experience heat is under heavy usage, very spotty areas, or while using a garbage app like snapchat. Otherwise on normal day to day use with messaging, browsing, social media, the odd video here and there the phone stays cool.
Camera on this bad boy is out of this world. I've seen some of the shots people have taken and they look very professional. To the average person, they would barely be able to tell the difference between a G4 picture and one taken with a proper camera. The camera is probably the biggest selling point.
Lastly gaming. Gaming is a no no. Battery goes down very fast, and the phone eventually heats up as well. You can get away with some light games like Clash of Clans but don't expect the battery to hold up. The GPU is weaker than it's hot headed older brother (Snapdragon 810). If gaming is very big for you, I'd honestly say get the Note.
Videos is not an issue though. You might get some warmth though but nothing major

Actually the more I use it, the more I love it. I have this phone since about 14 days now and it's so great! What I said about the weight now I got used to it. It's lighter than Nexus 6P.
Battery life for me is great, from 8am 100% to 8pm i get about 35/45% with normal to heavy use (surfing on chrome, instagram, twitter, taking photos, and lots of whatsapp, changing between 4G and WiFi) not more than 1 day and a half. But for me is Okay. Also fast charging is better than the OnePlus dash charge, just in 10 minutes it went from 20% to 51% so thats super fast. You won't have problems with battery life. (Also I enabeled dark theme and low resolution battery friendly).
Regarding smoothness is really smooth and apps open way fast. Multitasking is a pleasure on this phone. You can get eventual but tiny lags or apps delay but not so important (may be my firmware). Depending on your firmware you can have some touch response lag or not responding well on touches, but with my actual firmware it's working fine (LON-L29C636B182). And the fingerprint scanner also is terrific! The fastest I saw (and I used the OP3 too). So you will get awesome performance on this phone.
Updates are some trouble because huawei updates them via OTA and they mess it up, but with the actual one I'm good. Also in my country Argentina, you can't find much accesories so bare it in mind on your country. If you don't mind loosing the S pen go for it, super reccomended.
If you have more questions just ask me. Cheers
PD: also I love the "stereo" speakers, sounds loud and clear.

My Mate works fine. Love it!
Hugely impressed by Mate 9 Pro. Have used LG G5. Galaxy S6 and Xperia XZ before, this phone is a class above. Fast, excellent battery, thin, good sound, good camera, plenty of storage and ram, sleek and professional design and a sharp screen.
Huawei is the Best.It is True.
Definitely it's a classy phone and people wonder to know which model I'm using. So far I had no problems with it.

I am torn between upgrading my 6p to a 5t or Razer. I do play a ton of games, so the Razer phone looks amazing to me, can anyone with the phone or that bought the phone tell me why you went with it over other models? How is the battery life for the users out there? Do you get more than a days worth?
I came from a Nexus 6.
The reason I made the jump to the razer phone was mainly the price/quality ratio. Living in a world of £1000 Samsung's and iPhones just wasn't for me.
Love the phone so far.
Battery life has been superb, have had 7hrs SOT so far at the weekend and since it's been weekdays with less usage I've had around 4hrs screen on time and going to bed with 35-45% left which for me is incredible.

I would like to ask one more question. I was watching a review on Youtube and the claimed the phone got warm during gaming... did you experience this? I mean I can take warm but I've had phones that got so hot that it made it super uncomfortable to hold even in Chicago winters.
It doesn't get hot. At least not like previous phones I've had. This might be dampened by the case though.
But to the op, I got it because it has better specs AND a better screen refresh rate. And that's before we even talk about the amazing speakers.
All I have to say is if this is razers FIRST phone and it beats other brands on their 5th+ generation models, uhhh, ya, I can't even imagine how Uber the 2nd gen will be.
I do believe this is where other companies are going to start putting Uber stereo front facing speakers and higher refresh rate screens on their phones.
Oh, and the stock Android experience is always a win. After having an s8 for a couple weeks I'll never buy some bloated, carrier branded crap again.

Battery life has been superb, have had 7hrs SOT so far at the weekend and since it's been weekdays with less usage I've had around 4hrs screen on time and going to bed with 35-45% left which for me is incredible.

Are you getting that SOT with fhd or qhd resolution? Once I set my default to 1080p I noticed a way better battery life. Gsmarenas battery review had me worried before I bought it. But now, with 1 hour of SOT at 87% battery I'm feeling much better.

Depending on the game it varies, playing Kingdom Rush it doesnt even warm up at all.
Playing Asphalt or Titanfall it gets warm to failry warm.
Wouldnt describe it as hot though.
SOT was with 120hz, 1440p. Been getting such great battery life with my day to day usage that i havent seen the need to change anything.
Trying the phone with battery saver always on, 720p @60Hz, and 25-30% adaptive brightness, sometimes adjusting to 80% for outside, I'm so far hitting 5 hours screen on time with 48% battery life left. Doing a bunch of web, mail, vids, and texting, all over cell data. Launched titanfall too, to show a buddy for 5 minutes or so.

Yeah, I've heard a ton of people complain about the waterproof or the phone jack but honestly, I have never plugged in headphones to any of my phones in like the past 3 years. I also don't go swimming or in the shower with my phone so that didn't matter to me. What I really love is that sound and that 120hz refresh rate. I know I might be one of the kind too, but the block look is so much sexier to me than the rounded features of some of the other phones. I am so on the fence between this phone and the 5t from OnePlus. I think what scares me the most about this phone is that its Razer's first phone, so I don't know how it will be or how the support from the community will be in terms of roms/kernels/etc.
Ya, waterproofing and headphone jacks I'll gladly trade for the crazy awesome experience I'm having so far. The screen is awesome, even with the defective bottom speaker (which it only took a day for Razer to send me the RMA email) it still gets louder than comfortable lol...
Premo multimedia, internet, and gaming experience. I would still like it if they gave it a 6-7" screen, but this is great!!!!!
Lots of streaming video time so far, web time, 5mins of titanfall to show someone. Battery saver on the whole time, [email protected], Bluetooth on for a bit, emailing, lots of texting...

That’s what I’m worried about also, I’m still stuck between the 5t or this phone. Such a hard decision to make. ( first world problems lol)

Hands down this phone is a beast! Spec wise it has everything the rest do but with better screen and speakers.. 120hz screen is just amazing, and a first.. Plus how many phones these days still have expandable storage? Sure the software is light of some features but you know that's just a matter of time to fix. IMHO the only thing holding this phone back atm is waiting on razer to release code and factory images.. Once that happens you will see alot more developers jumping onboard. It's as near pure android as can be without being a google phone and alot of developers like that as it makes it easier to work with.

I also like the "block look" as you mention...and that is why I went with the Sony XZ Premium. I do not have the Razer phone but I am looking hard at it because I need loud stereo speakers for outdoors video presentations. I do wish they had a headphone jack though because I do like being able to listen to whatever while having the phone plugged in to recharge the battery at the same time. I do not use Bluetooth at all, much less for headphones. So this is what hold me back for now.
Anyone holding out for incentives/etc..... Razer is currently throwing in a pair of Hammerhead V2 earbuds (use Discount Code PHONEUP at checkout:

I know,a bit of irony/WTH here,as the 3.5mm jack is MIA (I don't mind the dongle, but,in no way am I speaking for all here,I know I'm likely in the minority).
A choice between this or a case combo pack woulda been a nice option, but, there ya go.....................................
....................................................................PSST,hey Santa Razer,a temporary price cut woulda made a nice gift for the season !
This makes me smile
