Actually the more I use it, the more I love it. I have this phone since about 14 days now and it's so great! What I said about the weight now I got used to it. It's lighter than Nexus 6P.
Battery life for me is great, from 8am 100% to 8pm i get about 35/45% with normal to heavy use (surfing on chrome, instagram, twitter, taking photos, and lots of whatsapp, changing between 4G and WiFi) not more than 1 day and a half. But for me is Okay. Also fast charging is better than the OnePlus dash charge, just in 10 minutes it went from 20% to 51% so thats super fast. You won't have problems with battery life. (Also I enabeled dark theme and low resolution battery friendly).
Regarding smoothness is really smooth and apps open way fast. Multitasking is a pleasure on this phone. You can get eventual but tiny lags or apps delay but not so important (may be my firmware). Depending on your firmware you can have some touch response lag or not responding well on touches, but with my actual firmware it's working fine (LON-L29C636B182). And the fingerprint scanner also is terrific! The fastest I saw (and I used the OP3 too). So you will get awesome performance on this phone.
Updates are some trouble because huawei updates them via OTA and they mess it up, but with the actual one I'm good. Also in my country Argentina, you can't find much accesories so bare it in mind on your country. If you don't mind loosing the S pen go for it, super reccomended.
If you have more questions just ask me. Cheers
PD: also I love the "stereo" speakers, sounds loud and clear.

In general, the smartphone is very good only there is a big problem with Wi-Fi reception

Not really...
My Mate works fine. Love it!

Hugely impressed by Mate 9 Pro. Have used LG G5. Galaxy S6 and Xperia XZ before, this phone is a class above. Fast, excellent battery, thin, good sound, good camera, plenty of storage and ram, sleek and professional design and a sharp screen.

Huawei is the Best.It is True.

Definitely it's a classy phone and people wonder to know which model I'm using. So far I had no problems with it.

S6 to G4?!

Hi,
I currently have an S6 and I really want to switch over to the G4 but I see a bunch of negative issues regarding the G4. has anyone switched from the S6 and would it be worth it for me to trade over? any input would be greatly appreciated thank you.
Anyone extremely happy with their G4?
I just switched from the S6 to the G4, but I have used the G4 for less than 24 hours so I can't give an full opinion yet but I wanted the bigger screen so that is the main reason I made the switch. I will give my pro and cons later as I find things i like or don't like about the G4 I'm comparison to the S6.
Of you want root then for now stick with the S6.
It depends. Do you play any games on your phone? Watch videos for extended periods of time? If so, the s6 is better. It manages battery better and doesn't get near as hot as the g4. If you're on Verizon, you'll also get the stripped software version, but still fully loaded with Verizon bloat. The g4 screen and camera are excellent on the g4....the s6 camera is better in some situations and not as good in others.
The s6 is also a little faster/more smooth than the g4. I'm returning mine in favor of swapping between the s6 and Note 4. My major deciding factors are battery life and stripped software features. The g4 also drops brightness to 80/90% pretty aggressively after a few minutes of use. The battery life is just pathetic. A lot of people, same as with EVERY phone, are going to claim to have 80 hours of battery with 70 hours screen on time, but it's mostly rubbish. If you wanna use your phone, full brightness, the battery will melt. It also dies on the s6 and Note 4 faster with full brightness. .but not near as fast as the g4 and it isn't near as hot either. Couple that with the terribly slow charging, and you pretty much have the functionality of a 2010 smartphone.
I switched about 10 days ago and havent looked back. Im not really having any issues with the G4 myself.
Also, theres several threads on this matter already.

VZW really screwed you guys. Not sure why they felt the need to strip the phone down of features, yet left the Sammy devices alone...

Well they strip Samsung devices too. Not usually as bad, but they did rip the Samsung Browser and app manager apps off. They were easy to replace once we got root.
I hate Verizon. They're really my only option tho. They just really over stepped their bounds on stripping the g4. Apple doesn't allow this to happen, I wish Android would tighten it up a little bit as far as that stuff goes
Barely got my G4 yesterday so I can't really give a good comparison yet. However, I did notice that the S6 is a lot smoother than the G4. Not that the G4 lags, but the difference for me was obvious from the start.

I actually never got that new phone excitement with either one this year. Neither feels like an upgrade from my S4 except in screen size and camera. Overall I probably liked the S6 more sock vs stock, but I get better battery life with the G4. Once we get root and unlocked BL I think this will be the better device. Hopefully an update fixes some of the issues. It seems like LG rushed out a kernel that wasn't fully ready yet. I look forward to the devs improving the G4.

If you don't mind, can you please tell me what some of the issues you're experiencing? I have a Nexus 6 on Verizon and I want the S6 or G4 as a second phone but, I can't decide. I've had the G2, G3, Note 3, Note 4. So I'm really torn. Both have great Camera's so I've read. I have small kids so camera is huge deal to me. Thanks.

If Camera is your main focus, neither will probably disappoint. I have no experience with the S6 (more a refusal to try after my experience with the Note 4 which became a disaster). I have 3 kids, so I know how ya feel about wanting a great camera experience to capture all that they do. I've taken a bunch of pictures with the G4 of my kids running, swinging, bowling in various types of light and they have come out great. I have been using auto only so far, but plan to play around with the manual mode a bit more once I have time off from work and can tinker more. S6 is supposed to be equally good in auto, but lacks the manual control and RAW ability the G4 has...though I will * that as "right now", since I am sure that Sammy will push that out once the S6 gets 5.1.
Thanks, appreciate that.

Anytime! Trust me, I know how hard a decision it is to choose between the 2. Ultimately what sold me was that the G4 was $80-380 cheaper depending on which S6/S6E and how much memory I wanted and LG was offering an extra battery, external charger and 32GB sdcard, and T-Mobile was giving a 128GB sdcard as well. I also think that pictures really make the device look kinda cheesy, when I felt it looks and feels better "in the hand" than pictures would indicate. I'd recommend going into a store that has both and just playing with each. Probably easiest way to make your decision.
The G4 on Verizon is seemingly fine for me. It is lasting longer in my daily routine than my LG G2 (which has been touted as having superb battery life). I really can't complain.
I don't see what Verizon pulled out except the "Themes" for the launcher or something... which I replace with Nova. Not sure about the Messaging or Keyboard, but I don't use stock Messaging. And the stock white lollipop themed keyboard is my fav. I don't know what else is missing from the others, but I am not missing it.
I am missing the stock LG Wireless Storage options from the Verizon LG G2.

That's quite a deal.. And the dimensions of the G4 are more in the range I'm used to. If I went with the S6, it'd be an almost full inch smaller to my Nexus 6. Quite a difference when it comes to handling the phone. The S6 is still intriguing to me, maybe it's the different processor. Never had a phone that wasn't Qualcomm chipped. Thanks again for your unbiased opinions/views.
I've seem far more complaints about the s6 than the G4. Not even close.

I bought the samsung S6 for the wife, and i got the G4 as other state: camera, display, size, battery goodies, 808 qualcomm , are really good , the display is top notch, like it better than the sammy, I just keeping at 56% and still super nice battery long day and half with moderate use as well disabled all the bloat first, as smartshare.media server and dlna/smartshare provider
Using Nova prime, smooth as hell, but NO Fast and some lag , using from my M8 the power cord to fast charge the battery it does faster but the regular LG power cable it does just fine as well, my wife get jealous of me cause the quality of pics from G4 .
Its a pleasure hold this phone 5.5 LG managed to do in small factor again that gorgeous screen, but no with the software to the end phone look so nice and for me the Samsung g6 is a better phone/user experience than G4
Edit: update G4 going back, ill get the Samsung s6 active
I had the S6 and swapped it for the G4 and it was a great decision, The S6 is a still good phone what enticed me more was the size but that's just preference and coming from a one plus it wasn't much difference and not to mention that as of now the phone can be rooted where as G4 most variants cant be, that aside the battery life is better and the camera is better. The s6 also I'm sure you are aware of has Ram issues it would use about 75% just being idle, the leather back I suppose compensates for the glass that had the S6 going for. I feel as though Touchwiz is slighty better this time around but I prefer stock android. Lastly the lack of fingerprint scanner which isn't a deal breaker to me but would of been nice to have on the G4.

Note 4 vs LG G4

Hi
I'm thinking to switch from a note 4 to a LG G4 but before I wanted to decide on want to ask the G4 users how there experience is with the phone. How is battery life and heat with this phone? How is camera?
I'm a moderate gamer but I watch often movies on my phone. S pen is not that important for me
the biggest problem of LG G4 is only about battery. I personally just can achieve 4-6 hours of battery life. My G4 was worked normally until last week: the temperature became 60'C, always restarting when overheated (now my G4 is at LG Service Center). Camera is absolutely the best, even note5 can't beat it. Screen size is only 5.5, so if you came from Note3 or Note4, you'll miss roomy screen. So, if you need best camera, buy it, otherwise upgrade to other phone IMHO
I dont know how battery life will improve with the marshmallow update. I just updated yesterday so time will show that. I would say battery life is about 4-5hrs SOT. If you are used to longer screen on time you might be in for a suprise. However the camera is the best i have seen. I don't know how it would compare to the note 5. Another device worth looking at is the Nexus 6P. It is up there with the best so maybe go into a store and check it out. Bottom line im happy with my LG G4. No lag at all

I came from a Note 4. I loved my Note, but figured out, that after a while I didn't need the S-Pen anymore.
The G4 is not as "Productive" as the Note, but comes along with an awesome camera and, if you're rooted and got the right apps on you phone, with a good battery life.
In fact, I'm happy to have changed from Samsung to the G4, but it's surely a question of taste, too. But I can recommend it. I'm super satisfied Cheers

I have no heat problems and as I said: Battery life is good for me. Usually I have 2 days until I have to charge my phone again (If I'm not using it very often).
Otherwise I have to charge it every 24 hours, if I'm using it alot.
I think there's no big difference between the battery life of the Note 4 and the G4. I usually had to charge both phones at night, which is pretty much ok for me.
If I had to make a choice I'd say the LG G4 lasts a little longer (if rooted) Cheers
EDIT: If I'm power using it I get like 5-6 hours SOT, which is also similar to the Note 4
Remember results may vary.
The guy above me is getting 5 -6 hours SOT. But for me I can only achieve that when I am at home on wifi all day. And maybe the same is true for follow_and_feel. So it really depends on your day to day activities.
In a nutshell. If you're in a area with spotty connectivity, battery life will take a huge plummet. On work days my building is in a spotty area, and the phone lasts me until the end of the day with maybe 5-10%. With 3ish hours SOT under my belt. If the network wasn't spotty I'd probably look at 4 hours or more.
The only time I experience heat is under heavy usage, very spotty areas, or while using a garbage app like snapchat. Otherwise on normal day to day use with messaging, browsing, social media, the odd video here and there the phone stays cool.
Camera on this bad boy is out of this world. I've seen some of the shots people have taken and they look very professional. To the average person, they would barely be able to tell the difference between a G4 picture and one taken with a proper camera. The camera is probably the biggest selling point.
Lastly gaming. Gaming is a no no. Battery goes down very fast, and the phone eventually heats up as well. You can get away with some light games like Clash of Clans but don't expect the battery to hold up. The GPU is weaker than it's hot headed older brother (Snapdragon 810). If gaming is very big for you, I'd honestly say get the Note.
Videos is not an issue though. You might get some warmth though but nothing major

getting a 5x in a couple days and have a couple questions

whats the best rom for the phone?
has best batt life, works with project fi, gets updated fairly regularly
if the bootloader is unlocked does the fingerprint lock still work?

The best ROM is the one that suits your needs, everyone has different choices. Don't know about Fi, but Pure Nexus does support it. Fingerprint works regardless of unlocking the bootloader or not, it also works on every custom rom provided for the phone. There is no issues with the phone. And battery life is depending on your usage, i'm getting around 4h SOT every day. (More or less). That should be everything.

Best rom is subjective, the fingerprint scanner works fine even when you've rooted/modified the rom.
Anything you need to know? Well, I was surprised by the capabilities and quality of the phone considering the price.
The battery is what it is, with heavy usage I've got 12h battery life with ~3h sot, I'll need to do some more testing and optimizing though. Another weak point is the speaker, it does its job but gets distorted on the last 3 volume levels and it doesn't get that loud.
I have never had a mid range phone like this before though, so I can't really compare the speakers fairly.
Other than that nothing had really bothered me, and considering the price it can be easily forgiven.
If you have any specific questions go ahead and ask.

That is one of the dissadvantage i see of this phone.
The only 2 cons :
The phone (can) heat up a lot if you play highly graphical games..
The speaker is horrible when it's on full volume. but it's allright when the volume is low.
The pros:
Android stock OS feels much stabler then any other androidphone.
battery life average 3.5-5h screen on time. 3.5h is the avarage if you are a heavy user. (social, gaming, internet browsing) and sometimes i can get up to 5h.
Build quality is actually ok. the polycarbonate material feels very premium.
The price is definitly worth it.
Everything else, camera, screen, fingerprintscanner nothing to complain about.
Thanks guys.
The wife has one but asking her about anything is useless as all she does is play candy crush and go on social media.

Switching to Mi5s

Guys i have Nexus 5x that just bootlooped. Would you recommend me this phone as a substitute? Is camera in range with N5x?
Hi,
I will briefly say that I do recommend this phone.
I've been using this phone for 6 months and I really satisfied with its performance, camera (used Google camera HDR+ now which is much better than stock), Battery life is good enough and charging is fast.
For me the best part of this phone is its Performance, really powerful. I never get lag on every game I've tried so far.
I have used this phone for 2 weeks now.
Battery life is good, probably better than Nexus 5x.
Performance is great.
The camera with the ported Google camera HDR+ is very good but not on par with the best camera phones such as Google Pixel and Galaxy S7/S8. My guess is that the camera is more or less on par with Nexus 5x.
The only thing that annoys me is the unreliable fingerprint reader.
@flipp0 @firmanperdi
Thank you guys
I do have to say that battery life for most people is average at best, so don't expect the crazy goodness of other Xiaomi devices. Otherwise, a great phone. And yes, the camera mod is a must. Fingerprint reader isn't really a problem with my device.
If you do want a better battery life and don't mind a bigger device, also look at the Mi 5X. Performance is a bit less though, but unless you game a lot you shouldn't notice. Prices are roughly the same.

Have you tried forcedoze? Since I installed forcedoze battery life has been very good, not on the same level as Mi 5s Plus but still above average I would say.
I have not, but since I immediately close apps in the background, I doubt it will make a difference. But I will try it nonetheless.

Still a good idea buy a Pixel 2XL?

Hello Guys,
I'm going to USA in september, unfortunately I'll back to Brazil before the Pixel 3 launch.
Import from things in Brazil it's expensive, then I'll buy a cellphone in my travel, but I don't know if I buy a Pixel 2 XL or a Galaxy S9.
I'm would like to know if still worth it a Pixel 2XL.
Thanks.

That's a good reference galaxys pointed you to. I sold my P2XL and bought an S9+. I won't say it was a HUGE mistake but if we weren't a few months from the P3 I'd sell the Samsung & get another Pixel. I liked it a lot, looking forward to the next one.

My Mrs has the S8+ which is definitely a very nice device. Beautiful screen and hardware. However, when it comes to battery life compared to my P2XL, it's not even close. On average, she'll get about 4-5 hours of SOT a day, and be at about 20-30% of battery left in the tank after about 16 hours of up time, so she charges it up every night. My P2XL will average 8-12 hours of SOT over close to 48 hours of up time. Having said all that, we use our devices differently. I don't do any social media at all, she uses instafacegraham:silly: from time to time, and talks a fair amount to family. There are times as well where she gets random battery drain for no apparent reason, and the Sammy bloatware apps always seem to be doing something in the background. Granted, the 8+ isn't rooted like my P2XL, so she can't use TiBu or My Android Tools or magisk modules to turn things off. She also likes the fancy AOD clocks and themes that show up on the lock screen, which I think definitely sucks more juice, but they do look nice. So I reckon it all comes down to what you like and how you use your device, I will also say that with the more aggressive edge display of Sammy, that the cases that are available don't protect very well if you drop it on the screen. She's been lucky so far with most all of her drops being on carpet, whereas I've dropped mine a dozen or so times on concrete, but the Caseology vault series case I use has done a stellar job of keeping my device and screen in tact. So there is my opinion of the 2 devices. In the end, I prefer function over flash. So...the P2XL all the way :good:
I'd had both. I sold my p2xl for a s9+. Went back to the pixel 2xl. Here's what I can tell you...The sammy had a better screen, messages and dialer were million times better (they actually tell you who is texting you or calling you), internet browser is better, and theme engine (which I used the Android P beta one on it and loved it). The pixel...updates and better camera. Battery life was similiar between the two. The samsung had much better bluetooth ability in my truck (my pixel skips and **** in the truck). No need for a dongle for a headset. BUT...my unlocked Sammsy was on Feb update (which they JUST updated now). So, it's really a personal pick. I miss my sammy, but I like knowing I'm on the latest security patch too. And the unlock button is still miles better than the sammy.

Whattt 8 to 12 hours of SOT. What do you do to get that kind of battery life?
Also how do you think the P20 Pro compares to the Pixel 2 XL in battery life and usability etc?

I'm mostly just a browser and contributor on XDA. I don't use social media, or watch a lot of YouTube, and the phone gets to sleep quite a bit since I'm retired and it's not always moving on my person. As far as the P20 goes, I have no idea since I've never used it

Regardless how phone is used 12 hours of SOT is insane.
You must have rooted and modified it because I don't see how else this is possible.

Oh I'm definitely rooted! There's a magisk module I use to knock down some of the 4,674 background services that google play services uses(sarcasm:silly)and I use another app called My Android Tools to stop a few others. But honestly, it's mostly all about usage patterns, signal, wifi, brightness, and lack of movement that gives me those numbers. I'm the rarity, not the norm
If I wasn't on Verizon now, I would be with OnePlus still, or even considered moving to something like the Xiomi Mix 2S, which supports VZW, that was just released.
OnePlus Deb support and path they are taking is really nice. Loved my 5T.
My only real complaint with the Pixel 2 XL is the fat and thick edges and feel compared to Samsing and OnePlus, and a few other phones today. It feels dated right after release IMO compared to competitors and chunky in hand.
Otherwise, Pixel 2 still a great choice.
