There does not seem to be an option to assign messaging tones for individual contacts? Or am I just blind?

I'm not using a 10 yet, but isn't an option available inside the contact itself?

Ups... sorry, I misread what you said before...
I never saw that kind of option on a HTC, don't think it's possible with stock apps, but I might be wrong
Correct, HTC phones don't have this option. Which has always puzzled/frustrated me over the years.
I ended up switching to Textra as my texting app. Great customization and performance, including the ability to set individual ringtones for people.

Right now this has really pee'd me off. I've gone to send a text message to my Dad, but I can't because the "phone memory is full", WTF ! Thank god it weren't important. BTW apparently I'm at 6mb so I don't understand how one small (KB?) message is gunna make a difference.
So I was wondering if a hard reset is worth a try? I'd like to know if it will actually free up any memory. I think I heard of people doing this and it has, is this correct? Also, will it remember all of the apps I've downloaded through the market? Also, any info on HTC backup software would be awesome help, but dw if not I'm sure there are loads of threads about that anyway.
Many thanks in advance!
A hard reset will basically give you the default clean ROM that you have installed.
Does your phone not have to many SMS's saved?

Is there anyway I can find out how many I have?
Well I'm looking at my Froyo messaging settings here and I can see an option saying that it's limiting the messages in a conversation to 200 and 20 mms messages per conversation.
Not sure about the stock SenseUI ROM though.

Yeah mine says that as well but that doesn't show how many, and I'd rather it didn't just delete any message
Mine shows a number next to the conversation stating how many messages there are.

You should be able to see the number of messages per conversation, that has been a standard thing for Sense as far as I can remember. If you really want to keep a hold of your text message try an sms back up program. I use one that backs everything to Gmail for me so it doesn't really matter if it getsdeleted.

That sounds like an awesome idea, what's the app called?

It's not an app that you're downloading, the message per conversation counter is a default feature on Sense. Next to each contact that you send messages to, you should see a number in brackets next to them. I'm really not sure if you know what we're all talking about or we may not be understanding what you are after but I'd suggest give us a rundown on your software version and whether for not you have a carrier phone and maybe a screen shot of your messaging inbox.

i just flashed the Warm Z TwoPointTwo rom on my evo, its great and all but i when i receive a text message or email the led notification light does not blink. does anyone know why?
Did you enable it in the options?
Are you using any other apps like tasker to override it? Or not enable in your app settings?
Yes i did. Ok so now when i get a email, it blinks. But for text messages it does not still.
What messaging app are you using? It seems like your text notifications aren't on.

Open the messaging app, then click menu, scroll down, and make sure notifications is checked; if not, configure the options.
It will not work with the stock messaging app. Atleast it didn't for me. I used the wimax notifier located in the themes and apps section. Was told it didn't work because it is a port from the sense 2.0. Hence the "z".

Well we just unveiled the secret of that stock messaging app won't activate the led with warm z, so you need to use a 3rd party app, such as handcent for texting.

Hi guys
so as the title says how do I do it
Click the specific text message in the sms app and click lock message.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
That only prevents user from accidently deleting the message.......
is there a way to lock the entire message inbox folder
I don't understand what you mean

he means password protection I think...
What I mean is that I want to be the only one who is able to view the sms that people have sent to me and only one who can view the messages that I have sent to people I guess some sort of password protection would do the trick

I know the way to lock entire message option. Just use app lock application, this will do the trick.

if using handcent sms, there is a lockable privacy box. i haven't used it so far, but it's an option. i don't see a similar option in the native sms app.
Hello, I'd like to know how to send SMS to multiple people and have the option to "split" them so they can go in their own inbox after. I used to be able to with the Trickdroid mod. But I am unable to on arhd or maximushd(my current rom)
I really like the default App. But if a side app could do it that would be nice too!

I'm not sure but your question could be carrier related and you're in the Verizon HTC One thread.

I believe Handcent sms has that option.
Is there a way to get the tones for incoming texts to be different from the tones for notifications?
I know in hangouts it can be set differently in the app. It is by default. I had to change it back. Ha

Yes, Open Text and hit Menu/Settings/Notification/Notification sound. You can also change it with a app.

That seems to have done the trick. Cant believe i never checked for a settings tab from within the app itself! Stupid me!

Glad I could help.
Depending on how much time you want to spend you can go into your contact list and choose anyone of them and edit. You can assign a different text tone to everyone.
