Hello, I'd like to know how to send SMS to multiple people and have the option to "split" them so they can go in their own inbox after. I used to be able to with the Trickdroid mod. But I am unable to on arhd or maximushd(my current rom)
I really like the default App. But if a side app could do it that would be nice too!

I'm not sure but your question could be carrier related and you're in the Verizon HTC One thread.

I believe Handcent sms has that option.

Looking for an sms app that can report back to me when a message i sent has been read by the receiver. Need this for work been looking all day and havent found it.
Handcent says its does this but everyone giving feedback on that app are saying horrible things about missing text/not receiving text. I installed this and tried it sending about 30 text and 2 werent received until like 10 minutes later
Gosms - not sure if it does have this capability looked at the details of what this app does and didnt mentioned it did.
smspop up- doesnt do it just gives a delivery report. Which is understandable since this is just to make your sms pop up.
theres another one cant remember the name of it but the recipient has to have the app installed as well and has to be sent from that app.
Anyway to make the stock app do this?
**Mod's Delete if you want or merge but i searched over and over on this site and other sites and did not find the answer. Posted on here instead of general android app because this is the phone i use so im always looking at this thread.
Just use Kik messenger and get all your friends to join. It is live messaging and shows when messages are read. Just a thought, not exactly what you wanted as it doesn't work for SMS. A cool thing is it also tells you if they are typing.
Not sure if Handcent does that or not.

the thing is i need that feature for the text i send to coworkers.
i use chomp sms and it has read notifications fully integrated and working

It won't work with normal texts. Kik/all those other apps are able to show when messages are read because they're internet-based.
Only certain carriers allow it. Not sprint .

gonna take a look at that app. does it have issues with not receiving or taking too long to receive a text.
Edit: looked at the feedback and many complaining about not receiving text and many not being able to send messages but I guess ymmv

sprint doesn't allow what?
Ok so is there any setting I'm missing that will change a SMS that goes over 140 characters to a MMS so the person I'm texting does not receive multiple text.
My wife and I both have SGIII's and when she sends me a long text it breaks it into several text instead of just one long text.
Is there any way to change this?

exuse me but i can't understand you.
could you be more clear?
When you send or receive a text that is longer than 140 characters it is sent or received in multiple messages instead of just one longer message.
Is there a setting that let's you receive messages longer than 140 characters in one text instead of the message being broken into two or three smaller messages?

Try handcent I think that has an option to do that

I would really like to keep using the stock app if possible. Not a big fan of adding apps if I don't need to.
Here is a screenshot of me sending myself a text. You can see it is received in two parts.

as far as i know, CDMA phones can only go up to 160 characters per text.
so that option in handcent is only for the GSM phones which can send longer texts than 160.
so unfortunately you cant change that. now i do know that there are some roms that after so many messages (like 3 or 4 sms in one) it converts it to an MMS rather than an SMS, i don't know if the stock sms app does it, but i know that the handcent app has an option to disable it to rather then sending 3 or 4 sms as an MMS it sends all 4 SMS's.
but thats my 2 cents worth.
It can definitely be done. Are you running stock or do you have a custom ROM?

I was thinking it could be done because I've had that built into almost every ROM I ever ran on Verizon and their network is also CDMA. I just switched to Sprint a few weeks ago so did not know if it was a Sprint thing.
I'm running FreeSG3-v0.0.9.1, if there was a write up somewhere I can decompile whatever needs to be changed and make the changes myself.
I haven't ran stock since I first rooted my OG Droid...

I looked through the development thread and did not see anything about it. I even used the search. If you could provide a link I would be forever indebted to you.

If you're running an AOSP rom, open up the Messaging app and hit the menu button. Go to settings and scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see it!
Hi all,
I have already searched for this answer but have not found an actual solution. When u text someone and I carry over into a 2nd message, my phone says converting to MMS!
Now I've recently moved to 3 was on Orange for years and I'm pretty sure my Note 2 on Orange didn't do it or my S3 I had or even other phones!
Is this a 3 issue or did it already do it on Orange and I didn't notice?
Is there a fix with the stock messaging app? I don't want to switch to go sms or handcet sms.
Cheers

I don't have my gn2 yet, but...
Is stock the standard aosp messaging app or a Samsung app? If its the pure aosp, there is a setting for splitting messages after 160 chars, which is the standard SMS limit. Is there not an option for something similar to split or keep as SMS? Just because some apps allow 160+ as SMS doesn't mean they should.
Carrier and region may have impact on this as well. More information is always helpful.

Thanks for the reply. It's a Samsung app, so there is no option for the above. I can use a 3rd party app to get round it as 3 have said it's a known issue on their network with certain Samsung phones.
I will just have to either send separate texts or get charged!

Note2 very bad in this, I am extremely disappointed with this, I'm using GOSMS until they find a solution, because the solution of S3's not right with the Note2.

I don't want to use a 3rd party app, it should be in built. Hopefully Sammy will fix it soon.

I am using Go SMS pro. I have notifications turned off in default app, and on in Go SMS. I get notifications fine from standard msgs but not MMS. It worked fine up until a few days ago when i noticed that i would get an MMS but not a notification for it. So i wouldnt know that i had one until i manually checked my text list.
Any idea of what to try?
bump. anyone?

I would make sure it's not a network problem by deleting the app and making sure the stock MMS app still works. Have you tried emailing the developer of the app your problem?

I wouldn't bother emailing the dev. They are some of the worst at replying. They focus mainly on their targeted user base in china.

I'm also having this issue with AOKP 3/1/13 release. I get my sms notifications fine but MMS wont notify me at all (unless I manually go in and check my messages).

I'm not on the stock firmware anymore, but I don't believe so. I think threaded group messaging (as MMS) is a feature of 4.2(.2?).
Darn, thanks. I left Att a while ago to go to Verizon n thankfully I can do group messaging with the stock messaging app on the note II. I was very interested in the LG pro but want the group messaging without having to use a different app like Go SMS which would make my phone lag terribly.

Heads up, you can. While it's not going to be as fluid as iOS' s group messaging, if you hold on to the message that is an MMS you can reply to all. It'll create a new thread with all the recipients, even if you don't have them in your contacts. Sadly, just like the Samsung group messaging, the messages won't be in a single thread and all the texts you'll receive will be from each individual contact.
