i just flashed the Warm Z TwoPointTwo rom on my evo, its great and all but i when i receive a text message or email the led notification light does not blink. does anyone know why?
Did you enable it in the options?
Are you using any other apps like tasker to override it? Or not enable in your app settings?
Yes i did. Ok so now when i get a email, it blinks. But for text messages it does not still.
What messaging app are you using? It seems like your text notifications aren't on.

It will not work with the stock messaging app. Atleast it didn't for me. I used the wimax notifier located in the themes and apps section. Was told it didn't work because it is a port from the sense 2.0. Hence the "z".

Well we just unveiled the secret of that stock messaging app won't activate the led with warm z, so you need to use a 3rd party app, such as handcent for texting.

Right now this has really pee'd me off. I've gone to send a text message to my Dad, but I can't because the "phone memory is full", WTF ! Thank god it weren't important. BTW apparently I'm at 6mb so I don't understand how one small (KB?) message is gunna make a difference.
So I was wondering if a hard reset is worth a try? I'd like to know if it will actually free up any memory. I think I heard of people doing this and it has, is this correct? Also, will it remember all of the apps I've downloaded through the market? Also, any info on HTC backup software would be awesome help, but dw if not I'm sure there are loads of threads about that anyway.
Many thanks in advance!
A hard reset will basically give you the default clean ROM that you have installed.
Does your phone not have to many SMS's saved?

Is there anyway I can find out how many I have?
Well I'm looking at my Froyo messaging settings here and I can see an option saying that it's limiting the messages in a conversation to 200 and 20 mms messages per conversation.
Not sure about the stock SenseUI ROM though.

Yeah mine says that as well but that doesn't show how many, and I'd rather it didn't just delete any message
Mine shows a number next to the conversation stating how many messages there are.

You should be able to see the number of messages per conversation, that has been a standard thing for Sense as far as I can remember. If you really want to keep a hold of your text message try an sms back up program. I use one that backs everything to Gmail for me so it doesn't really matter if it getsdeleted.

It's not an app that you're downloading, the message per conversation counter is a default feature on Sense. Next to each contact that you send messages to, you should see a number in brackets next to them. I'm really not sure if you know what we're all talking about or we may not be understanding what you are after but I'd suggest give us a rundown on your software version and whether for not you have a carrier phone and maybe a screen shot of your messaging inbox.

What SMS app are you using? I know Handcent and GoSMS both support this feature (only 2 3rd party apps I've used for SMS).

With "Tasker" and the "Secure Settings" plugin, I have set mine to disable the lockscreen, wake the phone and open straight to the sms app.

Having upgraded from an Atrix 4G using Gingerbread to the S3 on ICS, I noticed that I can't use nicknames to select contacts for SMS or Calls? Is this a "Feature" or bug and is there a way to fix it?

I've never heard of it or never used it before. You could ask upndwn4par (he used to make atrix rom's and makes GS3 ones now) and see if he knows anything about it. Good luck
Open the contact and hit edit, scroll to the bottom and click "add another field". Nickname is one of the options.

That's a problem with the app then. Seeing as it is on ICS, it could very well be that it needs to be updated. Or perhaps, there's a setting in the messaging app to show nickname instead of name.
You can also try a 3rd party app.

Must have been something that changed in GoSMS from ICS to Jelly Bean. Can't find anything in the settings. Weird because when I search my contacts, the nicknames work.

So why not put their nickname as their name, and list their name as the nickname?

Well, There's a working Group MMS option in the stock messenger. Oh my GOD is this great! :good:
Anyone else find anything worth reporting?
Miracast is obviously not included on the GNex ROM as I doubt it has the hardware to support it.
I'm not sure if it was there before but I noticed that you can disable system apps now. Just go to Settings -> Apps -> All and select an app from there. If its a system app, the "Uninstall" option becomes "Disable". In my case I'm not using Currents and Google Talk so I had them disabled. Now they are hidden and don't show up in the App Drawer.
*EDIT: NVM. Apparently "its been there since forever" as the guy below replied to me.
*EDIT2: Ok. I've read that the feature to "disable" system apps was slightly improved in 4.2. Before, you need to uninstall updates first before you can disable a system app. Now you can disable system apps directly without the need of uninstalling the updates first. That was the reason I thought disabling system apps is new in 4.2. When I was in 4.1.x I just see the "Uninstall Updates" button.

It's in Settings > Display and the options are Clock, Colours, Currents, Photo Frame, Photo Table (this is very nice and interactive).
You also have the following options for when to daydream; while docked, while charging and either.

I was just going to post about this. Lol.
I think there are minor aesthetic changes, as well. When you are in messaging, compose a message and are choosing a recipient from your contacts there is now shading underneath the box with the recipient. I don't think this was in 4.1.2 or lower. The font also seems a little bolder in the messaging threads, most notably for me with the font being set to small.
Does the group messaging work with other platforms (iPhone, Blackberry, WP7/8)? In other words, did they finally decide to bake in threaded MMSes into 4.2?

Havent been on XDA for a while, but I searched for an updated stock messaging app thats been edited to remove the contact photos from every line in a text conversation and havent found anything yet. Just wanted to see if anyone uses another stock version that has the quick reply popup and also sends/receives pictures or if there is another app from the Play store that doesnt eat battery.
