Hi all,
We are developing an B2B app to play music.
This app do not have to stop because it is used to play music in public area.
We need to choose a very stable device for intensive use. What kind of tablet do you advise ?
Have a good day.
Asus nexus 7 cheap and stable.

Haven't seen this posted here yet, but here's the OnLive Viewer apk that is not yet released to the market.
In case you don't know, OnLive is a cloud gaming service that runs games on dedicated servers and streams game video to a client over a low-latency connection. This allows games that would normally only run on a console or a high-end PC to be played on almost any device with enough bandwidth. OnLive membership is free, but games can be demoed, rented, or purchased, and there's a subscription model allowing you to play a hundred or so games that generally have already been out for a year or two.
Really, this isn't meant to be a sales pitch, I'm just a fan of the service.
A couple things to note:
This app is the Viewer, not the Player. This app allows you to view people playing games on the OnLive service via the Arena, and rank their performance. The Player app is supposed to be released by the end of the year allowing you to actually play PC and console games on your phone (a wireless controller is also optional).
Opening the keyboard causes a force close on the app. It's not officially compatible with the Epic so the app doesn't know how to respond to the keyboard being opened. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your OnLive credentials.
You need to be on WiFi or 4G for it to work. It'll refuse to connect if you're on 3G.
Pretty sick, didn't know this was around. Thanks!

Something I posted in the Nexus S forums but thought this is quite fitting for Galaxy Nexus guys for obvious reasons...
Yes I understand GPUs are important for other things. Thread title is a joke. But check this out...OnLive . Basically OnLive is going to try running their services to tablets (doing the game computing in the cloud). I am totally willing to try this! Imagine xbox/ps3 like games on your tablet or even your phone.
I tried running the app on my OG Droid, but it just stays at the loading screen.
So I'm still a little confused on how it works.
are the games being computed on the device? or is it all being done on their servers and so the app acts as a VNC or a remote connection?

Lucky. I can't even find it on the market. From what I gather, OnLive does all the computing on their servers and sends it to your tablet so basically your tablet is just a screen with controls.
Think remote desktop but with heavy compression and geared for speed. It works fine in some games but probably not so great at reflex games or FPS. Onlive has been around for a while.

When I start games on OnLive it says that I have selected a game that requires controler and the game does not respond. Is there some virtual pad that could simulate controls on the screen? I would like to play games with onscreen controls, shadowgun way, rather than carry pad with my phone.

There are 3 different game types. Ones that require a keyboard/mouse, ones that require a game pad, and ones that are optimized for touch. Some games support all three, some support only two and some support only one. You need to find the games that support what hardware you have on hand. Obviously on a phone you're limited to touch and maybe some mouse based games.
I played Dirt 3, which of course is a very fast paced game, on my tablet the other day. It played just fine. No lag at all and very responsive. Only issue were the actual controls. Little hard to use the virtual controls for such a game.

I've been using RDP client to play Gamecube and Dreamcast games on my XPlay for some time now.
I use the usual setup (emulating through Dolphin 3.0 and NullDC r136) and hit continuous speeds of around 32-34FPS with smooth audio (without root and overclock it will only hits 24-28FPS).
There's only 2 problem i have with this setup:
1. RDP Client - which doesn't seem to support a "fill screen" or "stretch to fit" option to display the entire windows screen on my Xplay. Basicly, part of the game i'm playing can only be viewed if i scroll up or down on the Xplay screen.
2. Full control support - RDP Client now supports more inputs but more for fiddling around on Window itself and not for gaming.
Does anyone have a more compatible setup then the one im currently using?
Personally, i think if a small program similar to xPadder was implemented into RDP Client which ran the controls separately through a bluetooth connection, we would have one hell of a way to play stronger consoles on Android (At home).
I understand that many consider this setup as useless because you have to be within your WiFi area to use it. But when it comes down to it, i personally dont have time to play games when i'm out and about. Especially game that take longer then a 15min train ride to the city.
I would so much prefer laying on the couch of an afternoon and play F-Zero GX or have a few round of Soul Calibur before bed.
But each to their own i guess.
Anyway if anyone know a better setup whilst keeping current FPS or is considering developing a dedicated Gaming RDP Client app for Android. let me know.
Cheers.
If you can only play at home on WiFi, why can't you play directly on the device that you are remoting into? Doing it over WiFi only adds latency.
Obviously, OnLive perfected it, but they have no incentive to give us our own server.
is this a real emu for dreamcast ?? on the xperia play ?
where can i get it please ?

No its just using the emulator on the PC and transferring the video.

The whole point to this setup (for me) is so i don't have to be sitting at my desk to play GC and DC. I thought i explained that in the 1st post
"I would so much prefer laying on the couch of an afternoon and play F-Zero GX or have a few rounds of Soul Calibur before bed."
I have no issue of Latency with the setup i have. Once again, that was in the 1st post
"hit continuous speeds of around 32-34FPS with smooth audio"
This post was a question in regards to alternative setups similar to this that people may be running. OR any projects i may have missed in the development of a dedicated RDP Client optimized for game streaming.
I have to admit that I was very excited to give the whole RDP to Dolphin thing a go. I came across the same issues that you have.
If you increase the render size of the frame you will drop frame rate. Chances are that you are using a low resolution on the host machine. If you change you game to full screen and change your RDP client setting to match you phone you will probably get a terrible frame rate.
There are no analog controls for the games that require them.
All in all I have opted to using onlive. I understand the need to play your own games, but I think the previous poster is right. They put Crazy Taxi in onlive and it plays great.
Hey all, as the title suggests, Is it possible to use my Xperia Play as a gamepad for my nexus 7? seems like it would work somehow, but I have no Idea, and theres not much out there on google about the subject.
Thanks guys
Maybe this app will do that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteclient&hl=nl (Client) and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteserver&hl=nl (Server). I haven't tried this myself though.
Yes I did see this just before, but I have not rooted my Nexus 7 yet, and Im not sure If I want to as I wont be flashing any custom roms
How about this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droidbean.btcontroller
I do not have any table to test, but i suggest using one of above apps with gamekeyboard.
The BT Controller app works great. I use my Play to play games and emulators on my Eee Pad SL101. The Bluetooth connection is more reliable than WiFi for the most part anyway.
If you have a ps3 controller you may pair the devices and works great.
Sorry for my English.
Hi guys,
I'm about to travel and I was looking for a new device and I've thought of the xperia play as it can be bought really cheap these days
Though, I wonder :
Can it run smoothly, android 4.x, a minimalist nova launcher home, a custom keyboard, texting, a couple of web apps and of course PSX emulation ?
I don't even 3g or fancy features
Sounds like quite the dream to just text and call and be a swipe away to resume a bloody roar game in a train when I see my galaxy nexus stuck below 20 fps for psx emulation
Sorry if I'm not in the good section
thanks

Hi dude:
run smothly android 4.x : No , its laggy on new games
Nova launcher : YES , it can
Custom keyboard : Yes , it can
texting web : Yes , it can
PSX emulation : Yes it can
just FYI , i was waiting for 3 years for xperia play 2 , but never happened ... do i've alrease note 3
galaxy nexus have newer and much powerful hardware than play. if you cant get sufficent fps on galaxy nexus, you wont be able to get higher valules on play.
you will not be able to instantly switch between heavy games and apps, cuz play have only ~270Mb of free ram, which is not enough for even app only multitasking.
Maybe you can do smooth gaming when staying on 2.3. I've been using an ICS rom from Markpython for almost two years now. It was quite fast at the start but I must say that it's getting slower and slower in my daily use. I use more apps now than I did at first and perhaps the apps have gotten heavier over the years.
I don't even use the facebook app, I currently only have these apps running and don't have anymore space:
- Whatsapp
- Youtube
- Google maps
- Link2SD (this is a must, you need to use an app like this to force your apps to be installed on the sd card as the intern card is very small)
- Tinder
- 9gag
- NS (local train app for train times in the Netherlands)
- ES file explorer
I will be trying Mike's CM11 build now that wifi works soon so I hope that makes it better.
