Xperia Play as gamepad for Nexus 7? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, as the title suggests, Is it possible to use my Xperia Play as a gamepad for my nexus 7? seems like it would work somehow, but I have no Idea, and theres not much out there on google about the subject.
Thanks guys

Maybe this app will do that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteclient&hl=nl (Client) and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteserver&hl=nl (Server). I haven't tried this myself though.

Yes I did see this just before, but I have not rooted my Nexus 7 yet, and Im not sure If I want to as I wont be flashing any custom roms

How about this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droidbean.btcontroller

I do not have any table to test, but i suggest using one of above apps with gamekeyboard.

The BT Controller app works great. I use my Play to play games and emulators on my Eee Pad SL101. The Bluetooth connection is more reliable than WiFi for the most part anyway.

If you have a ps3 controller you may pair the devices and works great.
Sorry for my English.

[Q] Gamepads Compatible With Vibrant

Hey everyone-
I've been looking around lately for a possible solution to my gaming woes on the Vibrant recently, namely the fact that the onscreen controls normally suck in any emulator. Because of that I've been looking for a gamepad, or game controller of some sort, that's compatible with the Vibrant via bluetooth or some other physical means. Beyond the wii remote (which I don't think works on the galaxy s line anyway), is there any solution that's built for android phones that'll work on the vibrant? I've already checked out the game gripper, but that's for keyboard phones. If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears, thanks in advance.

Well, i have been using a Wiimote plus a nunchuk, and it works pretty good...i have been playing The Legend Of Zelda OOT with N64oid, and besides some fails here and there (that are not the fault of the WiiMote but the emulator itself), it works flawlessly, i like it a lot.
the zeemote works http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?skuno=86194#grey
i know it says combatible only with blackberrry but this youtube video shows how to install on galaxys--->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJO-M433hXQ&feature=related
thanks button if i helped

I didn't realize that the wii remote worked on the vibrant, I checked in the market today and it said in the description that it wasn't compatible with the galaxy s series of phones because of a custom bluetooth stack issue or something. Although, if your running a custom rom maybe its not a problem. Either way I'll give it a try, thnx.

Hey man thanx for the link, I already found that, but actually I believe I found an even more elegant solution here: http://phonejoy.weebly.com/buy.html. It's a custom psx controller called the phonejoy that's modded to work on android devices, direct from China lol. Anyway, thanks for the help.

May I ask what rom you are using? I've been hoping to find a rom that supports wiimote for a while.
CM7 works with the wiimote. I've tried it, so cool.

Good to know, I'm on CM7 now so that'll save me some green. Although I'd really like a dual analog controller for the vib, ahh well...thanks for the heads-up.
You can use dual analog once you connect the classic controller pro to the wiimote

Cool, so the newer classic controller works! Good thing I'm buying one tomorrow . Thanks for letting me know. And just to confirm, the classic controller PRO (that one specifically), works in addition to the old one right?

Both pro and non pro work, you can see videos of them working on youtube.
And remember wiimote only works with bluetooth 2.1 (cm7) for now

You can buy a PS3 controller. They connect via bluetooth and work pretty well.
Well since the dead thread is already brought back, has anyone tried using a bluetooth pad along with tv out? I've seen a kang cm build that says it has working tv out and was wondering if anyone has tried it yet.
Edit: link to kang build, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461705
Interesting proposition. Do you have the necessary tools to try it? If so, I'd like to hear the result.

I used the ics passion rom with TV out and two wii controllers to play super Nintendo games with my wife.
It works great
Even with multiple controllers.

Bluetooth Gamepad

Hey guys,
I'm searching for a bluetooth or wireless gamepad for my future nexus.
Do you have any ideeas? I was almost into buying Wii Wireless Retro Controller but I can't find it anywhere so I'm looking for something else. Ohhh, this was my first option because is so COOL!
Another option could be Phonejoy's Gamepad, wich is OUT OF STOCK too. I could go for a PS3 SIXAXIS Gamepad, but I dont know if I can use it for other games like Shadowgun, Backstab, Dungeon Defenders (mostly RPG and FPS), not only with PSX Emulator.
Anyone who used a PS3 controller played games like the one above with it?
Thanks!
Just a word of warning you need to make sure your device is compatible. Even if it is, it might work with some app and not another.
There are some bluetooth controller to consider though like: Zeemote, MSI Gamepad, Wii controller (which seems to be the safe bet.)
Sometime you need to run a background 'keyboard' app to make some of these controller work, such as Bluez IME.
I have the iControlPad, but it only work with apps that support keyboard input, through the use of Bluez IME. The most fullproof way for me is still wired controller.
I'm dealing with the issue right now.
I use sixaxis for my PS3 controller but it seems there is lack of supported games.
I think trying FPse for it.
I've also Logitech gamepad (F710) and like you I'd love to see supported games beside FPse.

Give me a few days and this should become a reality with the Sixaxis controller
Honeycomb and ICS have native support for gamepads so they should work throughout the OS and games.
I have a PS3 controller on my Transformer and I also have the Wii Retro controller. The Retro controller sucks horribly compared to the PS3 controller. Plus they all connect via Bluetooth so any controller will act the same unless it comes with a specific binding app.
I don't have a Nexus but I think the PS3 controller is the way to go. I picked up a new white one at Gamestop for $29.
Datel makes the Retro wireless controller.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
I've done it.
Sixaxis with PS3 controller plus MHL to see it on my LCD TV.
Works great! But only in emulators like FPse (the emulator I've test).
I'll wait to the OTG cable and see if I can play with the gamepad on any game (which is not related to FPse).
do i need ROOT for all of this that you guys are talking about? i want to use the original ps3 controller to play games in my galaxy nexus but i totally don't want to root, please help, i don't care if i have to use cable or Bluetooth.
Not sure if this would work on phones, http://steelseries.com/us/products/other/steelseries-ion-wireless-controller
it does mentions tablets. it's coming soon.

[Q] Xperia PLAY to Bluetooth Gamepad

Is there an app that can convert the Xperia PLAY into a Bluetooth game pad? I have tried tablet remote and this doesn't quite work. I am looking for something that will make my Xperia's controls mappable on another device in games like dead trigger. This maybe a bit far fetched but I think this would be a cool app to have.

You could always just, well, play Dead Trigger on your Play. It's a bit far-fetched but it just might work
Joking aside, I don't think so :S

I heard BTController can do it, but I don't know if it transfer the hardware buttons as well.
Use BT Controller. The developer created a fix for our circle button too. I use my Play as a controller for emulators being run on my Asus Slider.

Use the OUYA controller with my phone?

The controller uses BlueTooth, meaning it can be connected to Android phones and tablets, but I'm wondering what games support the darn thing. I can't find any information anywhere.
I want a shield type experience (obviously without the PC streaming) but so far its all been a failure

I've connected the ouya controller to my Nexus 4 without any issues and it works great navigating the home screen/settings and with emulators I've tried. Haven't tried any play store games yet.

Not Difficult
I've connected my Ouya controllers to my GT-P3113, XT926, and Nexus 7 (2013) without any issues. The only apps that really worked were apks I ripped from the Ouya itself or emulators like Gameboid. Other than that, the controller is essentially useless with tablets for me.
My Galaxy S2, on all emulators, reads the keys as Native.??? (i.e unidentified). I could not map the RKnob to anything - correction: well I could only map RKnob left. RKnob Right, Up and Down maps to RKnob left.
I understand Samsung's firmwares move in very, very mysterious ways. If there's a .ko file I can use like for the xbox and sony controllers, I'm game to try.

No Idea???
Sorry man, hate to hear that. I've personally created many different maps for different games. I've even created multiple maps for the same game just to see which one worked best. I haven't had any problems any time I've created custom maps. I've made them for my N7 FHD, Asus Infinity, Sprint Note 2, and Evo LTE, without running in to problems on any device. Have you tried creating maps for a different device to make sure that your custom map works on that device as it should, or even using a different controller? Could be an issue with your controller. Is it definitely an authentic Sony Sixasis controller? I know that the app doesn't perform as it should with some knockoff controllers. Just trying to rack my brain on what's causing your issues.

Are you selecting the sixaxis input as the main input in the IME switcher before launching game?
