How to get Awesome Battery life and SOT of 6+ hours? - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

I see in the Xcelerate Development thread that People are getting SOT of 7 hours on Xcelerate Kernel. I am currently running Mokee Latest Stable Build and Xcelerate Kernel 22a but my SOT is still around 3 hours. :crying: Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Flash latest cm12.1 by temasek ROM and use xcelerate kernel build 21.

1. Go to setting>apps>running to see the list of all the hoggers
2. Privacy guard (inbuilt in settings) to disable pernissions settings like wake up, auto start, keep running, etc for these apps. Solves most of problems.
3. Use sync only when needed especially in case of google apps .
4. Use Xposed + Greenify (its the ultimate combo) to hibernate and then cut off wake paths for apps that dont hibernate. If you dont use google related stuff too much like maps...consider hibernating google play services as well...yeah that might involve FCs
5. Consider using roms without Gapps

Nothing wrong with SOT 3 hrs. They got 6+ hrs (not only applied to xcel, but almost all cm12.1 Based rom) because they use single sim and connect to internet mainly using WiFi. I personally using dual sim and connect to internet using mobile data and SOT is arround 3 - 4 hrs (now I'm on CM12.1 R30 with no custom kernel and SOT is 4 hrs).

Well, it's all depends on your usage, and condition of your hardware.
i'd say try Looking for your wakelocks and see what's causing major drain
Try looking for BatterBatteryStats : That app helps a lot in locating these drains/wakelocks.

Disappointment with MIUI7 battery performance.. will try Resurrection Remix

how do you use your phone?

Before,cm 12.1 installation power off your mobile and remove battery, press volume down for 30 seconds...
Then install cm 12.1 with latest xelerate kernel... And use normally, if u r not getting better battery backup, once charge to 1-100 % and calibrate by using battery calibration app...
This is what I followed... Hope it works for u too
Cheers

Screenshot from Monday AM. Please ignore the mobile network signal bar, every version of Cyanogenmod 10 I've used has the same problem where it stops logging data after about 10 - 15 hours, but my phone does pretty much always have at least 2 bars of signal where I live and work (split about 60/40 between 2G & 3G/HSDPA)
If it helps, here are the cpu states for the last 55 hours useage:

The best battery saving rom is CM9 with the older 2.6.35 kernel. So for example Arcos CM9 RC2 or RC3, the older Slimbeam ROM or this mentioned SmoothieICS. (The other two ones are just modified and themed CM9 RC2 or RC3) For even better results you need an undervolting 2.6.35 Kernel.
My battery for example lasts 3-5 days with CM9 RC2 and Arcos stock kernel. With my personal uv kernel it lasts even more.

Sure. Just drop me your e-mail via PM and I will compile one with stock voltages you then can adjust with incredicontrol to your needs. It´s because my kernel is preset to extreme undervolting voltages and that might be to much undervolting for your cpu.
Btw Arcos kernel has also deep sleep implemented and all custom kernels are basing on arcos kernel, so not only SmoothieICS is going into deepsleep but all custom roms are doing it as well.

your awake time to screen on ratio suggests to me that your battery life could be far better than it currently is! download WLD or wakelock detector and see what is keeping your phone awake so frequently =). Then u can get greenify to hibernate the app when u r not actually using it =D

Unfortunately the two main culprits are K9 email and ebay, both of which are pretty important for me to have running and not in a hibernated state.
However, from the last charge on my phone I have got 2 days, 4 hours, 29 mins with 12% battery remaining - so could be worse I suppose
Thanks for the suggestion though :good:

Whatsapp wakelocks

Ok so in 10 hours 18 mins my 90% batteru was used. The only thing i was able to pinpoint was that phone was awake for most of the time. As my sot is less than 3 hours. So i checked with wakelock detector and it shows that whatsapp kept my phone awake for almost 8 hours.. Can anybody explain this wakelock and give any solutions??
Wakelock: AlarmService#updateNtp
And one more thing i cant seem to find the option of adding the image in the post can anyone also help me with that too..
Thanks

Best battery rom?

What's in your opinion the best rom for daily and battery use
Currently using LineageOS. I think this one is good. 1.3%/hr standby drain with Wi-Fi.
At least for 0430 build.
I think battery and performance are the main point of most people. I use in my MI6 the MIUIPRO 9.5.7.0 stable. after having tried lineageOS, miui-globe. stable and unofficial. for mi6 the stable miuipro sure enough battery, if it were not whatsapp would last a 3 days.
Not an oreo-miui rom that's for sure. I am using epic rom 7.12.21. It gives pretty good battery life and cool temp(almost doesn't even get warm when charging).
Lineage OS 15.1, and you can add kernel manager, naptime app and servicely app and get this:
MIUI is fast but has a lot of standby drain.

With kernel manager I have underclocked cpu to 2 GHz max , with servicely app I have put apps in standby when screen is off, and I don't use 4g speed internet, but 3g, when you add together everything... Naptime alone doesn't do much. You have my settings in this subject post, just read all posts from beginning, there ain't much to read.

Yes, have been using the EK kernel manager with just default settings.
It's due to OnePlus brain service. Search in the forum for it and you'll find a couple of ways to stop it.

thanks. Seems like that is very hard to do. I might just disable the custom kernel. Honestly the only reason I installed it was so that I could change the vibration intensity. If anyone knows of another way to do that outside of custom kernel manager I would be all for it!
I just flashed a magisk module

sounds like the issue is probably the kernel then. Im going to just go back to stock I think
As I read in the forum it is related to oos version 1.0.0.3 and oos 1.0.0.7 and not kernel related.
I flashed the fix mentioned in the thread but no luck for me. Cluster 3 remains on 2999 MHZ and CPU tmp still on 50+.
Seems flashing to build 1.0.0.6 is the only way to fix this issue.
Edit: I just set the max CPU from cluster 3 to lowest settings and the CPU dropped right away and temp is now steady around 30/35 degrees. For me a temporary solution till next oos update.
Regards ysco..
I got the same issue. Getting not even 2h SOT. No custom kernel here, just basic OS with darkmode on & on WIFI connection.
(Currently 1:28h screen usage at 29% battery left)
Any fix in sight for this?

Phone is almost unusable for me now with such crappy battery life
Just install arter97 kernel, worked for me and clusters are running nicely now and CPU temp is low.
Battery life is improved now because cluster 3 is not hanging on 2999mhz anymore.
Just download the kernel from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...development/arter97-kernel-oneplus-7-t3952578
Just flash in your favorite kernel manager the new kernel, magisk will be preserved. First boot takes some time after flashed the kernel.

Well i was testing and reading on the forums about the drain because I only got two hours of Sot because of cluster issue. And started testing different kernels and this one fixed everything and is my daily kernel now. Battery is improved with 90% now I have almost 3 hours Sot and 70% battery left on the first run after installing this kernel.

7 hour Sot and 10% left, never had such good battery on my former oneplus devices then I have on the 7t now. So no issues anymore with battery drain.

If you browse(only browse) with heavy browser (e.g., chrome/brave/facebook etc.) 1% in every 5-8 minutes is normal. While gaming, 1% in every 3-4 minutes is normal. However, if you just flashed the rom then wait for 2-3 cycle discharge to see the actual result.
