If you browse(only browse) with heavy browser (e.g., chrome/brave/facebook etc.) 1% in every 5-8 minutes is normal. While gaming, 1% in every 3-4 minutes is normal. However, if you just flashed the rom then wait for 2-3 cycle discharge to see the actual result.

No. While looking apps like WhatsApp and Facebook. I just flashed it 24 hours ago. Mobile Data Off, Bluetooth Off, Wi-Fi - Connected, GPS - Power Saving, CPU (Governer) - Powersave, Automatic Brightness. No many background apps (2GB RAM Free).

Yes. I use GApps.
But, when I was running CrDroid with GApps it was ok. Then I installed MSMXtended and Ressurection Remix. In both there was high battery usage. I install GApps with every ROMs but never faced such problem. Which is the best ROM in terms of battery performance?

I'm on latest RR also. It seems latest one has slightly higher battery drain. May be CPU is using higher clocks all the time.

only your higher frequency cores are used ,which mean a heavy task is runing (or tasks)
are you using a custom kernel ?

No. Stock kernel came with the ROM (RR).
No heavy tasks I set. How can I check if there are any? I haven't set any? I want to check any app is doing this.

How bad does your battery discharge in an hour? Overnight? Screen off?
My battery discharge is bad i think...
Around 3%-5% in an hour in screen off + without data...
For overnight, well maybe around 10%-20% without data...
Its very different when i was using galaxy ace, galaxy s plus and galaxy tab...all this device only consume about 3%-5% when i let the phone in idle for an hour with 3G data always ON...
And consume 1% for overnight without data (6-7 hours).
And i always get about 50% when use it for normal day use in 10-15 hours...
Why galaxy y sooo different? Small device with monstrous battery eater
I use my data when i need to use it now on galaxy y...its a pain when u are a fb fans or something like that
well i don`t use 2g neither 3g but when i use wifi for 1 to 2 hours i think 15 to 20% battery discharges.
I have Jb3.0.4 and Savie kernel (u.v. to -80 mV)
Cpu settings are intellidemand + sio.

I use stock rom for calling and sms, several times with wifi to read news. all Fresh stock rom even without root. I think stock rom LJ1 is good, fast performance, long time battery use.
I can watch 3 movies online ~ 4 hours continously and 100% goes down to 23%
But i have a bad news ... yesterday after i post in this topic, i root my fone to add adobe flash. And now it cant reach to 2 days on battery with call and sms ( No wifi, no 3G, no film, no game )
I dont know but i think ill unroot my phone or re-flash stock rom via odin and happy using this tiny phone without adobe flash

Recommended : pm.sleep_mode=1
#pm.sleep_mode=0 -> collapse suspend
#pm.sleep_mode=1 -> collapse (will totally power off the cpu)
#pm.sleep_mode=2 -> sleep (cpu is still on, but put into low power mode (registers are still saved)
#pm.sleep_mode=3 -> slow Clock and Wait for Interrupt (lowered frequency and voltage)
#pm.sleep_mode=4 -> wait for interrupt (no change in cpu clock or voltage)

Try installing this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector and see what is causing the wake locks. For me I found that setting the volume rocker to switch songs was draining the battery (Validus settings, Buttons->Playback control). After that was unchecked all was good again..

LG G3 severe overheating makes phone semi-unusable.

Hello all,
I have installed Fulmics Rom 5.3 with latest xceed beta kernel in my D855 (32GB edition).
My problem is that it overheats like crazy.
I started checking the temp readings inside the Synapse app and it goes like this:
Idle temperature:55 degrees Celsius,
Normal web browsing:65 degrees Celsius,
Demanding web browsing,1080p+ video quality watching, playing games:80 degrees Celsius,
at which point it crashes either by rebooting the UI or in some cases, by rebooting the phone when it reaches 85+ I think.
Needless to say,it lags annoyingly much,it freezes a lot and it crashes in the middle of videos or game playing (so I can't play at all most of the time).
The culprit must be external temperature. The past few days we have temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius here
and the thermometer in my room shows right now 33 degrees Celsius.
I have removed the protective case because then my phone was completely useless.
Do you guys have any idea or tip on how i can mitigate these effects?

There are a couple popular mods available for overheat. One is with software tweaks and the other is a hardware mod.

If the phone shutdown due to high temperatures you can try ctt mod. The link is in the above post.
I've faced extreme temperatures when shooting video on uhd but not while taking any photos. Are you sure it's because if temperature or a bug on the rom?

Fulmics is an android 6 rom.I think xceed implements a custom ctt mod and I do have used it before independently of a custom kernel. It went pretty smooth until it hit high temperatures and the phone completely shut down.Every time.
I may try the hardware mod, although I am sceptical about the warranty. The software I can bring it back to stock.I have some Arctic Silver 5 laying around.Should I use this or a pad?

If you think you will need to send it in at some point I would say use the pad instead of the paste for ease of removal. If there is paste all over the place they may invalidate your warranty. I used some paste and it worked fine...but I have no warranty to worry about.
But you may want to try a different kernel or run your ROM with the "stock" kernel included in Fulmics for a little while to make sure you don't have some weird conflict causing your issue. Other posters mentioned xposed or the kernel could be the issue, so it could just be your setup messing with you.

Some days after this, the phone runs a lot smoother. It does not freeze a lot and does not restart itself or the UI.
When I am inside my house it performs like a G3 should perform.Outside...that is another issue. The CPU temp reads 85 degrees celsius most of the time, but that is typical here. Most of the people experience it under the unforgiving sun of my country.
Thanks for the tips! Will try the hardware one after a while to see if I can get it cooler.

It's still abnormal.
I may understand high temperature like 70-75 °C, but higher one is indication of some buggy process.
According to my experience, using Kernel Adiutor (regardless the kernel is stock or custom) will get you in battery draining, due to overloading and the preventing of Deep Sleep status.
If you've modded kernel, try to undo all changes.

After your tips,I uninstalled every app that needed the xposed kernel and uninstalled the xposed kernel itself.
Then I rebooted into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik/art.I installed Fulmics Rom 5.1, 5.1 to 5.2 update, 5.2 to 5.3 update and rebooted.
Neither any app that modifies anything in the system, nor any mod was installed.
Could I give any screenshot or info of processes, apps etc so you can advise me better?

Yes,
install Simple System Monitor and send the shown CPU Frequency States;
Then go in "Settings > Battery" and send another screenshot

I don't know if I got them right, but there you go. (I attached them)
EDIT:Sorry for the language...at one point it showed that Spotify consumed a lot of battery, but the music was being streamed by my tablet not my phone.

The SystemUI consumption is abnormal.
It should be no more than 5%.
Then I can't see the Deep Sleep status, that's problematic too.
What kind of apps are you using?
****ty software like Clean Master, mods, custom kernel, some Xposed module... tell me.

Well I will just show you all of them
No mods except what Fulmics offered in Aroma, which I installed all except the CTT mod.No custom kernel or xposed framework installed.
I had the same overheating issues without xposed, I used the hardware mod and it worked perfectly. Once I connected the cpu with the frame the idle temp dropped ~15 to 20 degrees, and I have no probs running any app with a custom kernel and overclocked cpu.

Have you tried miui.ms?

can you compare it with masik? Is there a bug? Is the battery time good?
try it yourself =]]
Its less buggy than masik 4.1 battery life is very good (in ping<100 pubG drains less than 20% per hour). Charging time is slow as masik 4.1 (fast charge module is must in both).
In compare with masik 4.1
1) app permissions bug removed
2) default camera app lacks manual focus , 4k video, AI mode
3) Camera2api wasn't enabled by default, even after flashing magisk c2api module and Build prop editor , it Didn't work. ( I've pitch black recovery so i tried pitchblack recovery's camera2api toggle and it worked)
4) performance is very good
5) If < 10% , GPU starts lagging ( experienced many time in pubG)
6) Music app shows notification advertisements.
7) some features like secure lockscreen, statusbar coloured icons, smart network settings also missing.

not using pie version. I'm thinking of using it when it's stable.

Upgraded to Android 10, garbage battery life

Hi,
I flashed stock android 10 image after it was released a few days ago and the battery life is GARBAGE. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know adaptive means it should get better after a few days, but I don't really see this.
Battery life for me is pretty horrible, I can't get 2 hours of screen time doing simple things like taking photos, reading the news and email and some book reading. I don't even play games, I would say processing of HDR photos is the most intense thing I've done. I updated on Tuesday and battery life has not improved.
I had the same terrible battery experience with android 10 stock until I changed kernels. Assuming you are rooted, you can install Ex Kernel Manager, then go to the ElementalX tab and click to check for update and it will give you the option to download and flash Elemental X v. 5.05 for pixel xl android 10. It will flash the new kernel for you and then ask if you would like to reboot. Once you reboot you can change governors and many kernel settings. Currently I am at 54% with over 3hrs screen on time and average about 15 hours per charge with 6 or more hours screen on time. This is at least double what I was getting on the stock kernel.

Is there a free alternative to ex kernel manager?
@H0wdy
Smart pack kernel manager available on xda here it is also frequently updated not my work just so you know

I installed it and changed cpu governor to power saving. No difference.

Actually, even if I do apply on boot, is resetting governor to sched. Hmm
I don't see a real battery difference switching to powersave, just a performance difference.
I didn't actually switch the kernel, though. That's with the included kernel.
The battery life really is awful. Any ideas?
Changed to Elemental.
Set governors to Elemental.
NO improvement in battery.

here are my settings on Elemental. *note under cpu, I have to manually disable perfd after every reboot as the setting doesn't stick but everything else where the apply on reboot is highlighted works automatically. Battery is noticibly better with perfd and core control disabled.

That's awesome! but, does it have significant impact on performance compared to stock kernel? I'd like to balance out performance and battery life.
I wiped the phone and installed 10.
No improvement with battery.
Also, now I have the problem of my messaging and email apps don't update unless I manually open them. and sensor seems to be messed up to where if you tap twice on phone, you don't see clock, and picking up phone doesn't show notifications, despite these options being turned on. I know there is a bug on this.
For what it's worth, I was on the Q betas, and battery life was similar to what I was getting on pie. Then once the official update installed, battery went to garbage even after several days. I ended up downgrading to Oreo leaving the bootloader unlocked, but installing elemental x kernel so that I'd still pass safety net. I had heard before that Oreo had better battery life than pie.
Things improved after that, but I know that a downgrade like this won't be an option for most people.
Edit: also should mention that I've underclocked the CPU using the installer for the ex kernel which has also given me a slight boost in battery life. Don't really notice any performance difference for my usage.
where to dowload elemental 5.05 .img ? i can only get the .zip file but i have no way to flash it.
i have root

I used ex kernel manager to flash it and then rebooted but it's a paid app. for a free app you could try flashify which is an app that can flash kernels and recoveries. I haven't used it in a long time to flash a kernel so I make no guarantees but it has worked well for me in the past.
How much did you underclock? I went back to 8.1 and battery life is much improved.
Stock seems fine to me 6hr sot on lte off charger for 17 hr. But did replace battery a year ago

Hey, I assume you're asking me. I underclocked to 1440 for the small cores (down from 1593), and 1900 for the big cores (down from stock 2150). The aroma installer has a few values to choose from, so you can try experimenting a bit. The values I used represent about a 10% drop from stock speeds.

Yes I was asking you, sorry for some reason it didn't reply to your comment. Thank you, I'm going to experiment and see how it goes. Are you doing anything else to improve battery life?

The biggest battery drain I have is keeping WiFi on. So I created some tasker profiles to turn off WiFi 2 minutes after the screen goes off, and back on when the screen goes on. It also only turns off if it's not plugged in. Still not perfect, but works well enough for me.
