I'm in need of some help guys. if anyone can come up with some ideas, anything, ill appreciate it.
Ok, so i just got this phone, and it doesn't wanna work on any other network other than EE (I'm on 3 & I'm honestly comfy where I am).
I go to a few shops in my town (EE & 3 to name a few.) to see what they would say and i don't get much out of them. but i did notice that the phone doesn't recognize its own IMEI, what i mean is, it shows 0 in the imei field in settings.
I've gone online and found out that might be my culprit for why the phone wont work on any network (but I'm curious as to why EE accepted it....).
So I go about trying to fix it & after a quick google search, watching some video, installing drivers, downloading some qualcomm software (QPST).... i try and connect to the phone via its com port and I'm drawing blanks.
now, the device manager see's the phone's com port (assigned COM6) but the software im trying to use (RF NV Manager) doesnt see said device at said com port.
I've tried changing the com port to 41, as other videos state to do.
I've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled them multiple times....
I even made sure i had the more up to date driver version (3.14 instead of 3.13) and I'm still no closer.
I have also tried to search google for this problem about com ports not working and didnt find any info that could help. possibly my search terms are way off ("google didnt find answer; your doing it wrong" )
my serial number does start with 506 and I've just found out that G4's made before October (510) might have main board/logic board issues. :crying:
does anyone have any suggestion's ??
After restoring my lg g4 because of figuring of that damn screen overlay now my camera resolution sucks..anyone has the same issue?thanjs

i have spent the last 2 days reading back posts concerning this problem and i am no closer to finding out the problem i have .
so far to date i have flashed and cooked ,xda2 xda2i uni touch so i have past experience
all i plan to do is a straight update from 1.37.405.1 to 1.93.405.1 which is the rom straight form htc
the problem i have is at 0% update activesync drops out windows then reconises new device (qualcom thingy) that when it goes tit shaped . the updater will now give me a 260 error .
i have tried all the obvious different usb , start in bootloader, turn of norton ,
i have noticed that the white band on my device never shows usb ? it is blank unless i disconnect the usb then it shows serial if i reconnect it still shows serial
this should be a straight forward update but its starting to p**s me off now i remember why i stopped playing with phones
all help would be appreciated i know it is something obvious but im missing it . it is definetely the crossover from active sync to updater that is the problem . but is it the phone or is it my comp . i had a similar prob on my uni and it turned out to be the hub i was going through so i now direct link for updates so it aint that this time
i cant believe how many people have had this problem and it doesnt seem to be dirrectly answered yet i think a sticky is required.
try a flash from internal memory ?!?
and disconnect UsB while flash,
You can access the Diag mode switch on HTC Arrive by typing ##MFG# (##634#) in the phone app and hit Diag, then enable it. I can connect via CDMA workshop and dump the memory, ESN, MSL, etc. It will turn off Zune syncing while enabled, but otherwise operate as normal.
You can also go to FieldTrial and see things like supported bluetooth profiles, battery voltage, GPS coordinates, Signal levels, and other bits of info I cannot find in the OS.
Not sure what else we can do with this diag mode, let me know if anyone finds anything fun to do with it. Maybe tethering?

Doesn't work on HD7. The dial pad just refreshes (no numbers entered).
On my arrive it bring up a menu with sliders.

Doesn't work on HTC Surround too, same behavior.
htc trophy
On htc trophy doesn't have afunktion
I added in pictures of some of the sliders and output. Maybe it is only a Sprint thing? I still think we can do tethering with this, I am just having a few win7x64 driver difficulties to straighten out. It creates a "HTC Diagnostic Interface" in device manager but it has been flaky in creating an "HTC Modem" port. Get that figured out and tethering should work, on Sprint at least.

Confirmed works on Verizon HTC Trophy. Its probably a CDMA thing

Something I just noticed that may be of use. I couldnt get my computer to see it all at first. I had to download HTC Sync (got the one for the incredible) and it now shows like it does for you with a "HTC Diagnostic Interface" in my ports section.
So then I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929868
which will work if your phone is unlocked (mine is not due to not wanting to pay 100 just for tethering). It seems this diagnostic window is where other phones can access tether and we are using HtcVComV64.sys already. Now we just need it to call HtcUsbMdmV64 and create the HTC Modem as you said before. I think we still would need probably a custom XAP to get it to call which means we would still need the unlock but this menu may make it easier for those unlocked with CDMA to get access or someone may figure how to use this menu for tethering after all.
good luck

win7 pc drivers were a pain to install but can be done

Also ansar already made a custom xap thats what the usb mode switch app is
Yes I do realize that any talk of this is a little archived but I thought I would give it a shot. On my Htc Arrive as probably many other Htc, you cannot access nor input anything related to sound boosting or increasing, as easily as samsungs and a few others. Has anyone ever figured out how to get to the sound/volume control panel thru the diagnostics. I work construction and the ringers and alarms are a little bit low for me. Actually a lot. I've tried all the reg hacks available and keep coming back to the answer being in the diagnostic mode area. Thank you for your time and any response would be greatly appreciated. thank you
CDMA only i think
on my gsm it also refreshes (7 mozart)
this looks like locked
maybe full unlock should make it accessible with some registry tweaks ?
From time to time I cannot connect to mobile data, even though 3G shows above the signal triangle. A few solutions that randomly work are to toggle the radio from LTE/CDMA to CDMA only (and then back to LTE), toggle in and out of airplane mode, and the last resort of rebooting. The only method that works consistently is rebooting. Happened again today, and I noticed a few oddities on the phone status page in settings:
- Both IMEI and MEID were shown as "unknown"
- Phone number was visible
- Mobile status shows "connected"
- IP addresses (both IPV4/IPV6) were assigned
Prior to this (for the past 108 or so hours of uptime) all was fine, but in the midst of playing Words with Friends the signal bars grayed out and would not resume the connection. After several trials of my "solutions", I had to reboot. Sure enough, after reboot all was well again, and the IMEI and MEID were again displayed correctly in the phone status page.
As my signature shows, I am stock unrooted. While I have seen that a few individuals somehow wiped out their efs partition during a flash, that doesn't seem to be the case here since all of my info came back upon reboot.
Thoughts?

Since you're completely stock, try exchanging for a referb with Verizon?
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
I found that reseating the SIM card fixed my triangle (Roaming) issue. May be worth a shot.
I had this same issue. Sudden loss of service. IMEI: unknwon, Phone Number: unknown, etc...
I brought it to VZW to try a new sim. No go. They told be to call Samsung.
They verified that I actually had tried the idiot proof stuff, and confirmed its dead. Still under 1 year manufacturer's warranty. They're paying to mail it back and say they'll repair it, and send it back to me. Here's hoping they don't care that I've been flashing it like crazy for the past 5 months.

Hard to say our problems are related. I am stock unrooted, and as stated in the OP only my IMEI and MEID were unknown. Also came back on reboot. Chances are you killed your efs partition during one of your flashing sessions.

In the future, if anyones IMEI/MEID is perm-disabled due to whatever reason... my thread found here(Post #2) has info on repairing the Gnex MEID/ESN/IMEI.
This has happened to me recently. I've been flashing *safely* since the G1. Since Jelly Bean flasshing removed my network access. I went through a warranty repair and upon unlocking same problem. If my MEID or ESN is corrupt, I have not figured out how to repair it using Prime's instructions. That's a new world to me.

Autoprime, I did find that thread in my frenzied search to fix my phone. I downloaded the tool in post #2 but was confused how to get my phone connected as a COM port, or converserly, it would not recognize it when I changed the setting to USB. Do I need to put my phone in a particular mode, before that utility will recognize it? Do I have to go through the setup in Post #1 (ETS) prior to using the IMIE writing utility? Thanks.

as u said in last sentence... you will have to go thru post 1 steps(only some of them!) to connect to meid tool.
since you guys are on a verizon gnex.. you would need to flash a Sprint rom in order to set the phone into diag mode. i believe most vzw roms have these options left out.. at least stock did.
2 things are required for a successful Ets Diag connection...
1. setting diag mode... this is the *#*#DIAG#*#* menu
2. setting Ets Channel mode to "USB" . This is done in the *#*#DATA#*#* > More > Ets Channel settings.
It MAY be possible to stick with the Verizon rom and use the Sprint Diagnostics App: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774503
not sure if it works with VZW roms tho(im a sprint user).
The VIA Ets tool is the equivalent to messing with QPST/QXDM on Qualcomm phones. Just like Qualcomm phones have to be put into diag mode first before connecting to QPST, the Galaxy Nexus has to be set in the right mode as well.

Thanks very much for laying that out. Is this something that "just happens"? It seems like (over several months) I flashed 50 - 60 times, radio a few times, changed from CWM to TWRP with no problems and then in the middle of the day, I just lose signal.
Could it be a hardware issue? I read somewhere that a modem in a phone got fried and caused the same thing.

i mean.. in my experience it comes with messing with the phone.. the EFS etc. could be from a bad flash.. but yes it could be hardware... or theres even a small chance its just random. youd have to look at the factors leading up to the issue for the best guess.
overall tho.. outside of messing with the efs/NV.. its kinda weird for it just just to happen.. id consider that very rare.
UPDATE: sent back to Samsung. They replace the main board under warranty. Works like a charm now.

Missing MEID/IMEI no service but internet is working.
I've been searching high and low and have came across various forums that are related to my problem but I'm still not sure if its the problem I have
or what to do exactly. I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with VZW, rooted, running a custom ROM (CM10), Android version 4.1.2 JZO54K. My
service got disconnected and when I paid to get it reconnected I get an empty signal triangle and sometimes an R above it (roaming). My internet
works oddly enough but I'm unable to receive/make calls or text messages. My status reflects; Network: searching for service; Service state: out of
service; Mobile network state: disconnected; MEID: unknown; IMEI: unknown. Before my phone was disconnected it was working fine, please
help!!!
If you did some backups time to time and if you have backup of data folder, inside of data folder you should have folder radio. Inside the radio folder should have data.bin file and data.md5. In my case they was original data files of my phone and after their copy to factory folder ot restore my IMEI.
I hope that helps.

So I'm working on unlocking my Samsung Galaxy S3,and I had it working just fine, got the MSL code and was able to get into the menus.
Now it seems that no matter what computer I use, the phone won't respond. I've checked com ports, made sure connection settings were right, but no luck, even with a clean install of CDMA workshop on a new computer.
Anything come to mind that I should double check or do to try and resolve this?
I'm going from sprint to page plus.
I managed to figure it out after a little fiddling. The baud rate for the com port has to be set to one of the ones that CDMA workshop recognizes in the device manager details for that port. I'll post the steps later.
Hello, I have non-typical problem with my LG G3, it sreachs WiFi networks, but when I tap on my WiFi networks it show on one second "Connecting" and... nothing. I tried with a lot of wifi networks in my work, home etc. I've tried hard reset and Android upgrade to 6.0 30C, nothing helped me. I've search on the Internet and didn't found simillar problems. Any ideas?

Hey buddy I found myself in the same boat as you and a few of these other peeps in the Q&A with the issues concerning WiFi. The 3xception is that mine occured after frolicking mindlessly in Hidden Menu land galavanting about with no concern as to what the hell I was changing, bolstered by an almost psychotic illusion that what I was doing would somehow enhance my connectivity with the possible addition of a kinetic-energy based super power.
Seriously though - I did eventually retrace and undo almost all of what I originally did (mostly just checked or unchecked the many boxes in the IMS and related settings) and got my gps, bluetooth, and wifi to turn on and scan. However - I had already lost (never had) IMEI, (my phone was a purchase off Amazon that was bojangled from the get go - perma-locked and such) So I used the CRC MID wizard and rewrote my addresses and IMEI. It was there I noticed my country stuff was @ open_eu and I am in America - dont know if that really matters but didnt really look into it because I was on the other mission of righting my wrongs. Somewhere in all of this my adb.boot deleted (I noticed the toast when trying to enter modem protocol settings and one or two others) and so I believe that may have been why I was not able to boot into twrp but to boot up regularly(?) temporarily at least because after putting it down and walking away to ponder on it earlier this morning I used flashify to try and restore a nand of a stock debloated 20f rom, and well, we have seen where this was going all along....
Fastboot mode started is my lone response from my D850 save for the ability to enter hardware control mode (where it does show the IMEI took hold the CRC wizard wrote, so I assume the WiFi address and BT addy inscribed with it would be fairly legit. I took that leap thinking maybe they should all be established at the same time. I know many of you are shaking your heads and yeah I get it, I knew not to touch shiz so in essence I knew what I was doing - jackin it up...)
I know that was a clusterbomb there but having taken a little while to reflect on how insanely stupid all of the stuff I did was, especially so very extremely and freaking ignorantly at the same time all without making my usual notes, I am now ready to climb back on that horse and resurrect her from fastboot mode. Which looks pretty damn right up a dark alley as far as how much I know to do... Heres to XDA as that lone streetlight at the end of that dark alley for all the morons like me!
So what I was wondering is are you O.G. wifi mac and bt addy intact o are you having the issues I and a few others are where it was showing 02:00:000:00 or whatev? And just an advisement (which we all usually mostly follow, right? ) to record and back up your original settings/files/etc. and do whatever it is one at a time - I am cometely anxious and beast mode on this problem so maybe if we all friggin collaborate and get some documenting what does and doesnt work a decent and legit fix can be found and a guide written....
And speaking of after this I am making a guide to the acronyms you come across in Hidden Menu land... I will post any help I come across and hopefully a few people get energized and amped up to tackle this gnarly beast. Lets go XDA troops!!!
