Android Wear Battery Stats - Asus ZenWatch

Is anyone else disappointed about Battery Stats no longer being available in AW? What were they thinking, have they said?

Yea..

Seriously though, can't think of any good reason

Have you checked under settings?
I can see my watch battery stats.

Yes, it is back in the latest version. Strange decision to remove it in the first place IMO.
(BTW, does anyone else hate this new forum layout? Huge amounts of wasted space. Why do people insist on changing things for the sake of it?)
ETA: I've just worked out how to revert to earlier skins. 2010 ftw - sooo much clearer!

[Q] Is it possible to use a TP2 as a headset?

Now stick with me here, this may sound crazy. Now I want to get an HD2 but I already have a TP2. Now my question is, can I pair the two phones via Bluetooth and use the TP2 as a "headset" to answer the calls on while I keep the HD2 in my pocket? (to preserve battery life)
How exactly is that going to preserve battery life? The call still comes in, and is handled by the HD2...

The preserve battery life thing comes from the fact that I can use the internet over Bluetooth on the TP2 while the HD2 just provides the connection
Maybe I am missing something, but again how is that saving you battery life? Bluetooth still requires battery life to transfer data

Not as much as having the screen at 100% brightness - or on at all.
doesn't the screen turn off when you put it up to your ear? so how is the screen on? or at 100%. I think he wants a reason to carry an HD2 and Touch pro 2 around together. LOL What are you gonna use the HD2 for playing games if you aren't gonna talk on it? Might as well buy a PSP.

That's partially true
I know that the TP2's battery life sucks ass. I also hear the HD2's battery life sucks ass. I am away from chargers for over 12 hours and I need an active phone at all times, so I figure use the TP2, sacrifice it's battery first, then kill the HD2. That, and the keyboard. And I don't want the TP2 that I bought 6 months ago at full price to go to waste. And it looks like that the HD2 might be the last WM6.x device to be on the market.

+1. I don't see how you expect to save power by using your described bridge. You are better off just puchasing one or more extra batteries.

Y'all were supposed to make me feel better about buying an HD2 when I just bought the TP2 6 months ago
In all actuality, I was getting an HD2 anyway, I just wanted to know if it was theoretically possible to do such a thing.

I looked and didn't find it, but somewhere in one of the "general" forums (Windows mobile software development maybe?) I recently saw an app that allows you to pair phones over bluetooth and use the keypad of one to control the other. Don't think it works with voice, but would give you the option to use the keypad for emails and games, or for editing documents, etc. Maybe use touch screen as mouse, but I think I'm imagining that last part. But anyway, that application would allow you to continue putting the tp2 to good use.
----------
As I can't find it here, I'm wondering if maybe it was a paid commercial app that I stumbled on somewhere else. But google isn't helping me either. Anyone else know what this is called? I'm probably just being stupid and not using the right keywords.
!!--------------------!!
EDIT:: Found it!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634675
it's scilors wimoblue. it's keyboard only, and appears to be in alpha- but would definately make the tp2 purchase worthwhile to be able to use it as a keyboard or gamepad.

[Q] Help with 3.5.15 market

I installed the new market the other day and now that it is tabbed for the my apps screen and shows every app you have ever installed I have to look through EVERY APP I have ever installed to see my paid for apps. There is no way google would make it like this so how can I filter them so I can see only my purchased apps? I am usually pretty good with this stuff, but I can't find any option.
Edit: Ugh sorry guys I answered my own question. This is COMPLETE BS:
* The*list of apps you have purchased*but uninstalled or haven’t installed yet*has moved*to the All tab… which means it’s now mixed in with the free apps you no longer have on the device. I’m not sure how I feel about that – on one hand, I like that it’s gone from the first list, but ideally there should be a way to filter paid apps from free in the All list. Maybe someday…
Honestly google? Who ever made this design decision should be fired.
Worst design decision EVER.
What the HELL Google?
Yes, worse than anything Apple. I know. I said it.
I'm mad as hell.

Already discussed in the other thread when the update hit a few days ago. Nothing you can do about it right now. Seriously not something to get worked up about. There are more important things in life.

[Q]Issues with One X

Hello everyone, pretty new here at XDA
I had a question, I've been seeing a lot of people complaining about the HOX battery life, HTC's skin, and issues with multitasking. How much of an problem are they really?
I'm considering getting the HOX, but if the problems are legitimately present, would it be better to wait a month or two for the HOX+?
Thanks for your help!

What do you mean 'HTC's skin'? You mean HTC Sense looks ugly? That's just personal preference.
Anyway, no battery problem here, no multitasking issue here either. Latest updates have fixed must of the stuff.
Everything is OK.
Battery is OK, multitasking is OK, skin/sense is OK.
User is user, different from each other. The dislike of this user may be the like of other user or you like this function but other don't like and that function, so, become trouble with he/she.
Awesome, I'm glad that's the case. I had read several people complaining about battery/multitasking so I wasn't sure if it was a widespread issue.
Thanks for the help guys

Battery life is good on my phone. Depending on the use it lasts half a day (using a lot) to one and a helf day (not using very much). HTC Sense is up to you but i liked it (much better than touchwiz which i had before).

That's awesome! Gotta love some of the genius that comes out of MIT! (Still kinda wish I woulda gone there myself!)
Add that to the bandwidth tech they've developed and...well...awesome just isn't quite descriptive enough!
For those that didn't see it before, we had briefly discussed this in the modem thread.

Credit to Raymond for finding this article too! Just thought they should both be highlighted here!
Thanks for sharing the finds man! I can't wait to see what can be done with this stuff, or to find out what the MIT geniuses are working on next! I agree some battery improvements would just turn these devices into awe-inspiring beasts!
Though just a quick note that the two techs in these articles would alone greatly increase battery life!

Thank you so much, I read through Flipboard pretty much every day, lol! TMOB had better be in on both of these whenever they are readily available or I'll leave them! Of the two, I am most exited about the battery tech. Battery technology has been lagging while everything else has improved by leaps and bounds. I'm already in awe of the developers and development that happens here as well as researchers from MIT and anywhere else!

I hope tmobiles on board too! The article about the bandwidth tech mentioned that there were already a few companies signed on, so I'm hoping!
I would guess that since both are MIT related (one said it was an offshoot from MIT) that anyone in on one, could easily be at least looking into the other.
Though now that I'm thinking about it, the life doubling tech would more likely be picked up by manufacturers than the carriers. Lets just hope Sammy goes after it! (And pray that apple doesn't decide to steal....I mean patent it themselves!)
(No id rather not get into that discussion! There's a thread for that! Just a quick jab is all! )
As for battery tech, who knows what they're up to. At this point id just like to see more widespread use of the LiPo (Lithium-Polymer) batteries. As far as Im aware they've sorted out most of the problems and they are superior to Li-Ion batteries in every way! Some smartphones already ship with them, but last I looked they were a pretty rare thing for replacements.

Lol, funny! Just read the other day they had to post another apology in Europe because it was a non-apology, then they were slapped with another order to post it again in a larger font, so what they did was use some Javascript that only rendered the main portion of the page no matter what resolution you were using meaning anyone had to scroll down to see the apology. They are looking really bad lately and it's sad.

Never heard of Lithium-Polymer batteries, I'm going to google it as soon as I get my phone reconfigured. I just flashed Wicked V7 today.
One of the things that makes em really cool is they are shapeable...if that's even a word! So rather than being constrained to a certain shape cell you could theoretically have something like the case itself be the battery. They are also supposed to have longer life both in number if cycles and runtime between cycles. Initially they were kind if unstable and could lead to leaks or even fire or explosion. I think I've heard that a lot of the issues have been solved though.
They can be smaller, lighter, stronger, and the fact they can be made to just about any shape means it could open a whole new area if design for all sorts of stuff!
I'm going off memory on all of this so if I got something wrong I apologize, byt I'm oretty sure I'm remembering pretty accurately.

"more than 65 percent of its energy"
The "its" part of that sentence is referring to the single or multiple chips themselves, not the entire phone. So, this will increase the efficiency of that particular chip and only while in standby mode. I don't see how this would increase the phones battery life by 50% since cell standby is always very low on the list of things that consume my battery. Unless you count when I leave it unplugged and go to bed, for those 6 hours cell standby is top of the list. But, how often do we do that, and do we care about how long we can leave is unused? I think this will help save the broadcast stations some decent power, but as far as our battery life goes, I think its a lot of hype for nothing.
Let's say these chips do increase the efficiency from say 35% to 100%. Also, lets say cell standby uses 10% of your battery. I'm pretty sure mine is often less than that, but I will start recording this # more closely. That translates to an overall power consumption change of 6.5%... worth doing, but not worth phone users getting excited about.
I should also point out that the new chips cannot possibly increase efficiency to 100%, and I did not take into account the power use of the newly added chip because I have no idea how much power it will consume. Both of those things will cause the 6.5% to decrease, but without more detailed information on the chip I cannot even speculate as to how much.

...and the only way to make it more efficient is by reducing the power used in standby. However, signals can be distorted if moving from a low standby mode to high power, so current technologies keep standby levels fairly high. That wastes electricity and is partly what causes smartphone owners to recharge their devices multiple times a day.

It seems to me this sentence refers to existing technology-the current state of affairs, not to this new discovery. We'll just have to wait and see.

Original GW v GW3

I'm thinking of upgrading from the original GW to the GW3. I know that the battery specs show that the GW3 has a smaller battery. How is the battery life?
I like the idea of a faster processor and more storage space, plus the software upgrades and more features, just concerned that it will kill the battery.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I've been using the gw3 all day with always on display turned on. It's at 73%. Like 12hrs in to the day at this point.
