I got mine for Christmas in 2013. It still works, but the screen is cracked (but not too much).
It actually stopped working (kinda) back in February, which led me to buy an iPad. but now it works again. So now I use both.
What about you guys?

My mom bought it for herself a couple of years ago when it first came out and gave it to me last December. It's still like brand new! (Except I rooted it of course!)

I never really thought about it until now. I guess maybe option #3 or #4.
Too bad you can't edit polls. Maybe a mod can.

My Xperia Play's touch screen no longer responds to my touch. I used to be able to do a couple battery pulls and it's fine, everything would work. Now, it no longer responds, no matter how much I try to get it to work. I bought it second hand so i have no warranty.
Here's what I've done:
- About 24 battery pulls...
- Tried software update, which succeeded, but didn't solve my problem.
- Factory Reset, nothing.
- Tried Repairing Phone instead of Updating software, that dind't work (failed for some stupid reason).
Can anyone help me out? Everything else works, just the touch screen.
Thanks.
I think its a hardware fault since you have re installed the software... ermm how old is the device?
According to the guy I bought it from, it's about a couple months old. I got it about a week ago.
Actually, the touch screen just started working again out of nowhere, and it's working as if though nothing happened. If I power off the phone or pull the battery, the touch doesn't work again until I do a few more battery pulls. When it does work, there's no flaws to it, it works perfect..
EVERY Sony erricson comes with a 1 year warranty. I got mine 2nd hand but then after a while my screen died. I phoned Sony and told them the problem. Of course I didn't tell them I bought it off a friend but they didn't ask for proof of purchase. I got my phone back and it's working perfectly.

Okay, so what if I don't have the box? They don't exchange the phone right? And I just took off the screen protector that was on the phone (The one from Factory) and I saw there was a small crack which I didn't see until now since the screen protector did a good job at hiding it. It's was only about an inch and a half long and didn't even come on the screen portion. Would this impact their decision on fixing it?
I think i got pretty screwed over...

Unfortunately I no longer own an Xperia Play, and I never had the problem with a non-responsive touch screen. I recommend you call Sony, or return it to the store where you bought it.
Just got a advanced replacement setup from Samsung. New phone should arrive by Wednesday.
I want to know, has anyone recently gotten one, and is the quality better ? Mine has the whole purple hue/tint situation, and its getting worse by the day. Have had the phone 2 weeks exact today.
Thanks !

Got my second vodafone hardware swap after crashing my phone to the ground 2 weeks ago, no problems like purple hue/tint or what so ever, but hadn´t with one of my first two models either. should be perfektly fine, even though they deliver on stock 4.0.1 which means you have to pull a few updates for android before you can fully enjoy this masterpice of a phone

So I have always wanted a Galaxy Nexus and when I got it I was very happy.. I traded my Galaxy Tab 2 that I paid retail for when it first came out ($249.99). Its been a couple months or so. I dropped it two weeks ago on accident and cracked the screen. So I ordered a new one for $175 off of Amazon.
I fixed it and ended up breaking the volume wiring soldered connections. Be careful!
Last night I flashed CM 10.1 like I have a zillion times and it must have a kernel issue or something as I'm stuck at the Google boot screen now. This morning I ordered a jig from amazon so I can fix it.
No volume keys screws it up in more ways than one.
I am ordering a Nexus 4 this week from Google. I wouldn't if the volume wasn't messed up. I would of rather just kept my Galaxy Nexus as I really love it. Its every Samsung I've had all rolled into one with the best of Android, all the time, on time.
Screen brand new less than a week old and I cant use it. Wish I could buy another gnex that needs a screen. I'm very good with electronics and I really can't believe I messed the volume up. I really don't want to try to solder it myself. I don't have the proper pensil soldering iron anyway.
Thanks for reading. Figured this was fine in the General section being all about a GNex.
Anyone have this type of luck sometimes? Or is there no such thing as luck?
Of all the devices I've owned I've never broken a screen. My favorite phone of all of them gets the worst of me.
You paid 175 for a new screen and you wont use cuz the volume up button?
With a few bucks you send it to service and its fixed...
I might give them a call.
Need a phone. Can't wait a couple weeks for it to come back. I'm going to use it until the 4 comes and then sending it off would be a good option.

I couldn't sell it. I might could sell the whole phone down the road but I'm going to be okay without the volume keys once the jig comes.
I can't wait to be one of the first to use Ubuntu phone.
Called today and they said that since I have an international phone I must contact the UK to get it repaired.
What gives? Anyone know how I can go about sending it in for repair?
On the 3rd of June 2012 I bought an Archos 80 G9 tablet, I was happy with it, it worked fine, until December 2012. Suddenly I could not charge it any more, if I connected it to try to charge it switched off. So I contacted ARCHOS repair service and I sent my tablet to ARCHOS. After almost 2 months waiting for a replacement, they upgraded my old tablet with a brand new ARCHOS 101 xs. I was a little fed up because I was waiting almost 2 months for a replacement but, well, I thought, let's give ARCHOS an opportunity.
Guess what. The brand new ARCHOS 101 xs was faulty as well. Without touching the screen the borders are active, it goes back or opens the menu on the clock side without touching it, if you are watching a video the menu appears without touching it. I tried whatever I could: I tried not to touch the keyboard connection (thinking I could short-circuit the tablet), I rotated it because maybe it was a problem with some corners, I upgraded to 4.1 and to 4.1.2 and also I downgraded to 4.0.26, I recalibrated the screen from Android menu, I recalibrated the screen from Archos recovery menu, I reset android and I reinstalled android.
I wrote ARCHOS replacement and they asked me to send it again. GREAT
I received the replacement (second replacement, third faulty Archos tablet), apparently a brand new Archos 101 XS(PC123902679), I say apparently because it fails again. What a coincidence, don't you think?
I recalibrate the screen a dozen of time, and blah blah blah...
Now I've recorded some videos showing the behaviour of the screen without touching it but I cannot added them because I'm a new user on XDA.
The same day I received the tablet I called archos (didn't work) and I wrote to [email protected] and to [email protected], after 12 days they don't response to me. What do you think? What should I do? I'm waiting for a solution since January, first time I sent the tablet to RMA.
My situation is very similar to yours. I had three faulty 101G9s in the space of a few months!
Eventually Archos upgraded me to a 101XS but this tablet displays exactly the same problem you are describing.
My screen suffers from touches even when I'm not even handling it.
I don't really want to send back to Archos again (yet) as it means being without a tablet and restarting with all my apps etc yet again.
I have found a way to calibrate the screen to stop this issue.
Hopefully it might work for you too.
First, in Developer Options enable Show Touches.
Then In Repair and Formatting calibrate the screen when you can see the phantom touches being recognised : I have to hold my tablet at the very edges (not touching the screen) and then I see touches displayed at the bottom-left, top-left and top-right of the screen.
Sometimes it takes a couple of tries but you know it has worked when part way through calibration the areas showing touch, stop displaying (as though they're no longer being touched).
I plan to use my tablet as it is until just prior to the warranty expiring and then send it back because, although I have found a solution, it is still far from perfect; the digitiser is definitely faulty.
Sent from my 101XS using XDA app
Thanks Extreme_One that worked for me! Maybe I will do the same and send it back just prior the warranty expiring. Although, I don't know, maybe I keep it as it is, I'm tired to deal with Archos.

I'm really glad I was able to help. The last time I performed this special calibration was about three weeks ago and my tablet has been working fine since.
I just wish Archos would work to get Google Earth working properly. Maybe next firmware update...

Did it work fine after updating the firmware? Or did you need to do the special calibration after updating the firmware? I mean, do you need to do the special calibration after every updating?
Thanks again!!
I updated to 4.1.2 on day one and haven't reverted back.
I only recalibrate if/when I need to; not needed to for about three weeks now...

Archos are by far the worst piece of kit I have ever used. As for customer service....non existent. I too have a 101XS....with too many problems to list. Ended up getting a Samsung Tab 10"....not a single problem. Archos release a media player....then ask you to pay for the codecs to be able to watch media on it. Cowboy outfit with low spec/tech.....soap box away!
Another bad experience
Hi Everybody.
I'd want to share my own bad experience with Archos service department.
I bought an 101xs at the third quarter of 2013. A few days after it fell down from my hands while the earphones were plugged, the outcome was earphone jack not working anymore.
I asked for an RMA clarifying that the problem was my fault so I wanted to pay for the repair. They agreed and sent me the RMA and I delivered the tablet to France (35 euros shipping cost!).
Briefly: they sent me the device back, unrepaired, saying that warranty did not cover physical damage! No message quoting our previous mail conversation was successful. Always the same reply: "Warranty does not cover physical damage".
I wonder... was I contacting human beings? Maybe they are but, are they Chinese recently migrated to France?
Never ever more Archos!
It's interesting what touchscreen chip (digitizer) does this tablet have? What's the output of "lsmod" and what's the output of "cat /sys/bus/i2c/devices/*/name" on stock firmware? This problems are mostly due to cheap or buggy touchscreen chip or due to bad EM shielding inside some parts of the device. It may happen also when you are charging the device and using its touch screen simultaneously on cheap digitizers.
I realize I am late to this, but after sending in a dead G9 I also got the 101 xs. I must be one of the lucky few, been working great for the last few years, wife loves it.
Did not like RMA experience though, like most it took months. On the plus side, my G9 WAS out of warranty and they still sent me a free replacement.
Sorry if there has been a thread I am at work but the last few times when ever my screen goes to being locked it will flash white then go the lock screen. Is this a known issue just got the phone Wednesday. Thanks

It is a known issue they'll rma it for this reason. On a side note I had that issue for about 12-24 hours and went away on it's own, no restart or factory reset was required for me. Really wish I knew what or why the cause but maybe it will go away, like mine did. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks I hope so too. Really liking the phone but for this money...
agreed I almost gave up, my first 2 were too blue and the 3rd fine except started that flash, but ultimately went away. Loving this phone!

Mine started today but it has been getting better as the day goes on. I'm curious if its an issue with charging. Prior to a few days ago I had been only using the chargers with that I've received specifically for the phone, but this week--since I'm traveling for the holidays--I've only been using my pixelbook charger, so maybe something isn't properly shielded and the flash is caused by a built up charge? Reason I think that is that it has been less and less noticeable as the day goes on..

Got my replacement a week ago, 0 flashes so far (finger crossed). I tend now to think it's a hardware issue. Also blue tint is slightly better on new device...
I just got my Pixel 2 XL delivered to me yesterday. Set it all up, didn't get the flashing screen issue at first but now it's doing it. Tried to chat with Pixel support from my phone, they don't have a resolution for it yet.... Hopefully it's a software issue?
Mine started doing this about 3-4 days ago. I noticed that it starts to do it when night mode is on. If I go the RMA route, this will be my 3rd replacement and tbh I'm not looking forward to doing this.
Mine did it once with always on display on, I don't usually use that so I turned it off and it hasn't happened since.
I just received a replacement device yesterday due to a faulty speaker. No issues with the last device, but this device is now exhibiting the screen flash when locking.

Exact thing with me. I received a brand new device that I got because my previous one had a bad speaker (speaker phone distorted sound). This new one has the screen flashing problem. My original did not. Poor QC ... especially for $850.
Mine has been doing it for a couple of days, and it kept getting worse. On chat with Google Support now. Sounds like it's going to be RMA'd.
