28th the LG g4 being 2months old and how empty it seems to be on the forum ,is anyone else thinking of getting the samsung note 5. Being that o got my phone the verizon edge program. H can still return it before 30 days and h could just wait for note 5. Note sure if i should.
Any opinions?

The Verizon G4 section is quiet, but the general G4 forums are much more active.
I bought mine on Edge as well (albeit from Best Buy). This is the first I recall hearing of a 30 day return period, vs 14 days. If so, that's pretty nice.
What are your priorities in a phone? I chose the G4 largely based on the SD card and removable battery, along with the camera.
The rumors I've heard seem to imply no SD card on the Note 5, IIRC. And possibly no removable battery. Do you want a stylus?

I think youre right, its probably 14days.
I chose this phone because of camera and because i had the lg g3 before this. This phone seems a little slower than the g3. Ive had so many problems with the keyboard. Im a fast texter but this phone has me make so many typos. Sometimes the space bar won't even insert space after touching it. Seems as if it isnt very responsive to touch as the g3 was. Battery life is also very bad, Not that bad but i had more hours on the g3. The stylus wouldn't be bad i just like the bigger screen. I dont like the fact that the note 5 might not have a removable battery or support sd cards. The note 4 seems to be my best choice and suits more needs more but i just love the lg g3 and i figured that this one would be amazing. But the way the touch screen response is annoying me.

The only reason I am sticking with my G4 for now is because of the camera, it's amazing. I'm leaning more towards the Moto X Pure though.
You're going to return it.. Why? You're talking about switching to the note 5... The note 4 doesn't even have permanent root. Won't exactly get much better.

Yeah you're going to switch to a phone that doesn't even have root and will never have an unlocked BL whereas the G4 has a chance to be unlocked?

I do agree that it makes me nervous that we are 2 months in and still not much activity, especially compared to the G2 and G3, it just shows that LG phones are becoming less popular it seems.
Going to the Note 5 because of this though is completely idiotic, look at the Note 4. It still doesn't have root.
As an admitted flashaholic, I am a bit frustrated with the current state of our devices. However, the camera is so good, and I really like the leather back, that I may be satiated if Xposed starts working. I am also keeping my eyes on news of the LG built Nexus 5 (2015). I have seen conflicting reports about the camera it will be using. If it's the same, or close to the G4, I will be all over it, as long as it's supported on the Verizon network.
I used to love Samsung phones but they've finally killed everything I loved about them (sd card, removable battery, and hackability). My next phone will be the Moto X Style Pure Edition. It should be released soon and it will have a sd card slot, run pure debloated Android, likely be hackable, and only cost $400-450 without contract. It's supposed to have the best battery of any phone currently on the market.

Not exactly. The battery is about the same on the Style (Pure, whatever). The Play edition is getting the crazy big battery. Honestly, I wouldn't have my G4 if not for the fact that the 1) Play is not available in the US and 2) the Style mysteriously has the smaller battery of the two devices.
Otherwise,... I'm really quite happy with my G4. It's definitely got bloat... but it's nowhere near the nastiness that was TouchWiz (my last phone was an S5), and I've been pleasantly surprised at how little it has, and how much of it is easily disabled. Woohoo! no more baby detector!!

Oops, crossed my facts. 3000 mah should be plenty with Turbo charging. The phone is a beast (in terms of specs). Add in Pure Android and (hopefully) and unlockable bootloader and its the right phone for me.

but will likely not have as good of a camera =/. and probably wont be on verizon, for the same price.
To be honest, I dont care about 4k display, I still think the G2 had a better display than the G4. I wonder would a 1080p screen give us 10-20% more battery life or have they really optimized our display.
I wouldnt have mind the same phone crammed into G2 body just with cpu/gpu/chipset upgrade with camera upgrade. 100 dollars less too. I guess that is asking for a lot =P.
Thanks.

Oh, it will be available on Verizon, just not FROM Verizon, if you know what I mean.

Hi friends.
I currently own a Nexus 4 and I have loved this device for a REALLY long time. However, now I think its time to upgrade. My upgrade is due to the following 4 reasons ONLY.
1) Screen Size. I want a bigger screen size than my N4
2) Available Memory. 16 GB. Every now and then its full. Cant expand. I take lotsa pictures and videos.
3) Camera. Oh I hate my phone whenever I open the camera app. The camera itself is just plain pathetic. It just cant focus AT ALL. The pictures are 95% of the times blur. No my hands are not shaky. But this phone requires your hands to be trained on a snipper perhaps. And the pics are always dull, without life.
4) Battery. Need to charge it quite a lot. Although I am not a heavy user at all. But KitKat has ruined the phone. Moreover, I do NOT play games at all and never use data. If it had a removable battery, I would have easily charged the extra battery and use it on the go.
I am thinking of LG Optimus G pro for the following reasons.
1) First and foremost, Price. It has dramatically slashed in my country. Say its costs even lower than $280, unlocked. Which is a steal at this price.
2) Camera. I dont know but have read in the reviews that it's not on par with S4, however it miles better than N4.
3) Battery. Again, tech site and customers reviews say it is awesome. And ya, its removable. Lets say if it fails in a couple of year, i can easily buy one and replace it.
4) Got a micro SD card slot upto 64 Gig. So memory shouldn't be a problem.
5) 1080p. Of course an upgrade from the 720p I currently use.
6) OTG, for even more space.
Prices of other phones in my country.
LG G2: $440
Galaxy Note 3 Neo: $400 (without 3G version)
Galaxy S4: $450
OnePlus One: *ock Teaser lol
As you can see, all these phones are priced quite above G Pro, so I am toooo inclined towards the G Pro as it has KILLER specs at such a low price. Moreover, I don't much care about Android updates. But still would want to know, have you guys gotten KITKAT? If yes, which variant do you own? Since there are a few 988, F240 etc
I would request you guys to let me know how the camera is. The camera is very important for me, so please tel me your experiences. And is there any other flaw you guys found with the G Pro that you suggest me not opting for it?
TL;DR... Want to upgrade from N4 to G Pro. Please suggest.
Based on those reasons, yes, the G Pro would serve you very well. The only thing the N4 has over the G Pro is the Google Android. The most annoying issue with 4.1.2 on the G Pro was the crappy BT audio quality, and that has been fixed in the recent 4.4.2 update. IMO, it is one of the best values for the $$ in smartphones.
My 2 cents:
I upgraded from an optimus G(which is very much like the N4), definitely loving this phone. The size takes a while getting used to if you don't have big hands(I'm not a big guy) but the thinness of the phone helps a lot. The camera is really good, way better than the OG(and the N4).Kitkat brought a few more shooting modes and options (I really like the dual cam option), check the picture thread in the main section for samples). Battery life is good, especially in your case since you don't do gaming. The one low point for this phone is dev support. There aren't many custom roms available in comparison to the N4, so if you are a flashaholic i suggest you look at the dev section first to see what's available. We have 3 flavors of stock kitkat currently(1 for the 240 variant, 1 for the E988 and 1 for the E980). Personally I am using Spinx kitkat by radeonmaya which is based on the 240K. Rom is really nice with added goodies(slide aside, several themes, weather effects on the lockscreen), downside is the main thread is in LG viet forum so you need google translate to navigate it. Plus installing is a bit of a pain(need to flash rom, modded stock kernel, an edited build prop and modem) but in the end it works really good. Also there seems to be issues with the recoveries. Lets say you need to do a backup suing CWM/Phils. When donde you reboot to system, but for some strange reason the phone bootloops back to recovery. TWRP is the only recovery that i have used that gets me out of the bootloop and back on the rom. Also when flashing your files need to be on the internal storage and not on the SD.
If you don't mind that the i say go for it, for that price it's a great deal.

Yes. I upgraded wife's phone from N4 to OGP in October 2013. Actually I bought it from craigslist for $275 for myself but she couldn't get her eye off it as soon as I brought it home. So she got the OGP and I got a G2 a month later. It was definitely a worthy upgrade and we took many family pictures with the OGP. It's a very huge phone though so it may take a while to get used to. That may be less of an issue to women because they usually have a purse wherever they go... I got the E980 unlocked with 32GB storage.
Go for it

I don't much care about latest android updates. After owning a Nexus device, I now know how unimportant these updates are. Since past a year n a half, Google hasn't released any major updates. They rather have FIXED issues on it (except for a few features). So I care less now.

Bdw, what do u guys have to say about the build quality? Speakers etc.
Speakers were very bad in N4. I guess due to the low price may be.
Plus, COLORRRR... Which color do u guys own?
I am thinking to get white one. Saw both on youtube and black one looks more like cheap plastic whereas white one looks classy. I know it all comes down to ones preferences but want to know which one do u own.
I own the dark blue and i like it, but the phone does look good in white.

Alright. Thanks.
How's the built quality? Speakers esp.
And how long does it takes to charge the battery from ZERO to 100%?
Furthermore, whats with the brightness going dim when phone getting hot? Never heard of it before on any handset.
"Problem: Overheating and screen dimming
Some owners have reported overheating issues with the Optimus G Pro. This is another complaint that’s becoming increasingly common with all smartphone models. There isn’t room for a fan, and as devices get more powerful they require more juice and they inevitably get hotter. When the Optimus G Pro gets too hot it will start to dim the screen to help reduce the temperature. In extreme cases it might shut off completely."

As for brightness, the screen does dim a bit when getting very hot, or it wont let you set 100% brightness. It only happened once to me while playing ingress, could only set brightness to 85%. Build quality seems solid, and the speaker is decently loud.

I don't listen to the external speakers often. I had an HTC EVO 4G from 4 years ago busted speakers as soon as i got em. Then had a HTC EVO 4G LTE 2 years ago and busted those speakers. These havent busted yet so I'd say they're decent.
The 2nd EVO was also bent. This phone appears to be rock solid so far. Backs not glass so you don't have to worry about that

G Pro all the way, for sure.
One thing is important to consider. If you ever want to use custom roms you will notice we don't have many. But, the ones we have rock.
Another thing, before starting flashing custom roms try to read as much as possible. This device is a bit tricky as we do not have the bootloader unlock. Actually, it is bypassed.
Thus, making backups is mandatory to save you from headaches.
I, personally am running @tdm Pace Plus 4.4.3 and am enjoying very much. Qremote is working properly and @ballhandslow 13MP Camera is also working very well.
By the way, if after flashing the camera you do not see it at the drawer, re-enable the stock. Then you might see two cameras. Check which one is 8MP and which is 13MP and disable it. Everything is gonna work fine.

I'm the primary account holder and bought my Galaxy S4 out right. Well I'm thinking of using one of the lines that has jump and swapping it out for the LG G3 for myself (and give the S4 to the other party).
1.) How does the T-Mobile variant differ from the international version?
2.) Does it have FM included in it?
3.) How easy is this thing to root/flash recovery? Does it come with a locked bootloader? If so, how do you unlock it? I'm coming from owning Galaxy and Nexus products and all had no bootloader problems so I'm a bit leery going to another manufacturer.
4.) How's battery life on this device? I've just about had my fair share of TouchWiz and Samsung (even with AOKP on it as we speak). I really enjoy my fiance's Nexus 5 the way I had it set up but my biggest pet peeve is the battery is small and limited on that device
5.) Most important question, does anyone have any experience with the Xperia Z2 as well? This was the phone I really wanted to get but I can't justify spending $600 on eBay with no warranty on a device versus basically a free upgrade (I pay for all the lines on the account). Any thoughts on the camera on the LG G3 compared to the other flagships (e.g. Xperia Z2, Galaxy S5, Lumina, iPhone)? I use the camera a lot and some reviews I saw said it can be washed out and isn't the greatest.
Thanks for the help. :good:

1. WiFi calling, you don't get an antenna(only works on korea), unlocked bootloader, and you don't get headphones nor a spare battery in the box like the korean version. I think the international phone brings headphones.
2. It's incredibly easy thanks to the developers. Root/recovery is available for T-Mobile. Root is available to everyone except sprint(coming soon). Only T-Mobile has recovery so far.
3. Everyone's usage is different but I love the battery if this phone. I easily get 16-20 hrs of standby and 5-5.5 of screen time.
4. I have no experience with the Z2 but I really like the G3 camera. There are picture threads on the T-Mobile and regular g3 sections that you can take a look at.

No FM, not sure which phones even have it since it's not a feature I look for.
Battery life is much better than it was for me with the N5. I used Greenify and Lux brightness to keep it low on the N5 and I would still be under 15% at night with maybe 1.5 hours of screen time, at the most.
The G3 has been much better. I went to bed last night with 22 % left after 12 hours of use and 2.5 hours of screen time. I had never achieved that on the Nexus 5. I have a ton of apps that wake up the phone: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Hangouts, SMS, Google Music runs often. I even spent all day off of work's WiFi. Today I have turned it on, so we'll see if battery life improves. I had also turned off WiFi when screen is off due to the privacy bug, but today I enabled it again to see how much impact it has on the battery.
I am not a fan of Samsung devices and dislike Touchwiz. The skin on the G3 is pretty decent. It's not very intrusive, and even though I miss some of the N5's icons and cleaner notification drawer and status bar, the G3 has a pretty clean interface without having to disable everything.
The big advantage of the Tmo version is we already have a recovery, so we should be able to get more tweaks in ROMs soon.
I have been unable to get tethering to work (without the usage counting towards your tether bucket), and there are reports of international roaming issues.
Phone is running 4.4.2, and I'm not sure how good LG will be with an L update, but I don't think they'd be too bad. Hopefully a GPE version comes along and we can convert the phone to that.
The camera is pretty good, much better than my N5. The built in camera app does a pretty sh**ty job at auto White Balance in low light, but it is fast. I haven't used a Z2 in person, but the Z1 I tried a while back didn't blow me away in terms of camera quality. This one doesn't blow me away either, but it's an improvement over what I had before. I always had to use HDR+ mode on the N5, which meant photos took a long time, but they came out pretty good. I do miss HDR+ for low light photos.
You can use hdr on the g3 camera app.
so to be clear, no locked bootloader correct? Just run ADB to obtain root and flash a recovery?

You can, but it's not nearly as good as Google's exclusive HDR+ I keep forgetting to see if someone has ported the feature over to another device.

Yup, all done for you in a script, or you can do it manually if you so desire. I did it on mine and I have TWRP (it looks funny because it only takes about two thirds of the screen) and root.

1.) As noted above, the T-Mobile G3 has does not come with earbuds or a spare battery. It does support Qi wireless charging, if you have the right cover.
2.) No FM radio.
3.) T-Mobile G3 bootloader is unlocked out of the box. Rooting is brain-dead simple, thanks to PurpleDrake.
4.) Battery life is above average, but not exceptional. My old Note 2 went longer between charges, but my G3 always has >20% left at the end of the day, so I can't complain. It really depends on how you use the phone. You could completely drain it playing heavy 3D games or watching Netflix all day, but that would drain any device (except perhaps a Droid Maxx)
5.) I have no experience with the Xperia Z2, so I cannot comment about that.

Not necessarily. If you like the "vanilla" android experience of the Nexus 5, then you might not care for the LG UI. It is less laggy than Touchwiz, but it's still there. People that are used to no-frills style of AOSP might be turned off by the LG UI. Of course, that will change once the G3 gets cyanogenmod support, but that is down the road.
YAY! Phone rocks. Got it rooted and whatnot. Don't see much out there yet for development. Anyways, how do we go about getting wireless charging? I noticed it doesn't come with anything out of the box stock.
Killer screen.

You can get the quick case, it replaces the back and has wireless charging. If you don't like the flip cover (I don't), you can get a back cover with wireless charging. There's a Verizon version that has been confirmed to work with our D851.
Dears LG G3 Owners ,
With LG G3 16GB price is very good now around 430USD for the 16GB/2GB Version , Shall i buy it ? is it worth the upgrade as i am already a G2 owner , the 32GB/3GB version is still very expensive and it will cost me extra 100USD which is very much
Is the QHD screen differ a lot from the FHD and worth the upgrade ?! or it's the same experience.
I just got my G2 4 months ago an i really love it so much and happy with it on every aspect
Does the 2GB RAM version runs good with the QHD or the Processor and RAM struggles
i watched almost every review from every popular site on YouTube and still can't decide :silly:
so please inform me with the Pros and Cons for the G3 specially the 16GB/2GB version
Appreciated your always help
Thanks
Honestly, if you are satisfied with G2, its not worth it.
Stick with G2 little but and get Snapdragon 810 device next year.
I find it never worthwhile to upgrade to the next flagship device
G2 to G3
S4 to S5
Note 3 to Note 4
And so on the specs are never worth the upgrade
Always skip a generation and its a real upgrade
The absolute worst so far has got to be the Z2 to Z3 practically nothing changed anyone going from a Z2 to a Z3 is just throwing money away
Just my 50 Cents
Stick with the G2 man, stick with it. I had one and picked up the G3, and am not happy with it. It's actually still sitting in the plastic still since LG fixed my cracking issue, and am back on my M8.
So you all agree that it doesn't worth the upgrade.
I intend to use it as another phone with another SIM side by side with the G2 , Sadly that LG doesn't have a decent Dual SIM Phone, or if i found that i really don't need to carry 2 phones i will sell the G2 and keep the G3
i guess i might keep the money for now and waiting for the next generation.
if you have any other recommendations i will be glad to hear it
Thanks All

Not available in entire Middle East First time to hear about it
Im going to totally contradict my previous comment
Even though i say its not worth the upgrade i am one of those guys who just wants the next best thing
I never had a LG device but i bought my daughter the G2 last christmas and instantly fell for the device
Once i heard The G3 was out and had a QHD screen i just wanted it
I had a Note 3 (Loved this phone) found someone looking to swap for a Z2 so i did for a change (didn't like the Z2 at all poor dev support visible touch screen panel not very responsive screen)
Then just last week someone looking to swap G3 for a Z2 couldn't believe my luck
Ive seen G3's selling on gumtree for £200 so if you can get £160 for your G2 id say why the hell not

Maybe now but ive seen fully working ones for £200
Theres one there now for £260 open to offers unlocked which is not bad could easily get them down to £230
@manemzjum
i am thinking the same way , why not getting the LG flagship device while it's cheap and still great and later search for a deal to sell the G2 so the upgrade is done for a few money
do you have the 16GB/2G RAM or 32GB/3GB RAM , How do you compare it to the G2 once you have both in your hand
found a Z3 Dual SIM for a good deal around 550USD brand new sealed , but what LG managed to do adding a 5.5" screen in same size as Z2/Z3 is amazing and let me think a lot before getting a Xperia device
It's really hard to decide
The size of the G3 is great in your hand feels smaller somehow because of the curved back
I have the 16Gb version haven't really stress tested it yet but i just love looking at some QHD sample videos on the 5.5" display its like porn for my eyes
Lots of folk complaining about the camera but i find it excellent especially with laser focus
I cant really compare to the G2 as i haven't used it much like i say it is my daughters phone
Overall im very happy with it and will stick with it till im due a new contract in October 2015

Thanks for your feedback , i meant for daily usage and common used applications is there is any lags or delay in touch or something like that ?! few reviews said that the device struggle and overheat sometimes due to high screen resolution "2GB RAM Version" and it's better to get the 3GB RAM , although the 3GB RAM performance was just 5~10% more than the 2GB version which isn't huge
Also already tried a G3 port to my G2 and everything was working fine , i noticed that the RAM consumption is a little bit high than regular G2 ROM so this is why asking is the G3 2GB have same behavior ?!
Only issues ive noticed is the default sms app lags but this is only an application problem as 3rd party apps work fine
phone has heated up once with excessive camera use but not with general use throughout the day
screen does have an over sharpened look to it (hopefully be fixed with lollipop update)
Ive only had the device a few days so not really looked into ram consumption don't tend to do this unless i have lag issues which i have had none (other than sms app) so its performing well by my books
Hard to tell if using QHD display for a long period of time will cause heating issues as most videos are quite short

so you so far happy with device performance , camera and screen overall
the first impression is important and since the device is new in your hand and you like it so this is good , sometimes you buy a new device and feel that you shouldn't bought it if you know what i mean
What about battery life ?!
will try to get a good price for the 3GB/32GB version , or may wait till Lollipop hit the G2 and see .
It's really amazing and so tempting what LG is doing fitting the screen in the smallest body

As previously mentioned here is an LG G3 selling for £180
Very important question , What about the Sun/Outdoor Visibility ?!
Is it good and the auto brightness manages to bright the screen enough to be visible or it's hard to use screen in sunlight ?!
Ive been using g2 since the moment it was released, It was a scary change after 5 different samsung flagships and a nexus 4. So far i am so satisfied, i don't even want a new phone.
A friend of mine has the 32gb G3, and of boy that phone is so slow. It stock unrooted, i even factory reset it, still slow.
Lile really laggy and touch input take time to react. Annoying.
Knock knock is also hit and miss there, and battery sucks.
I'm keeping my G2 until a proper phone is found. My only gripe with the g2 us the camera, and i could used 300 mah more, but i enjoy it as it is as well.
My vote : don't go close to G3. Wait until there is something without compromise.
G3 is nice upgrade to g2. Sd card, much faster camera, removable battery, better plastic, bigger and overall better screen and it will be on lolipop soner. Only thing that is better on g2 is battery. G3 is very decent upgrade unlike many flagships..
The biggest g3 problem is poor auto lightning and to many haters that never used it more than few moments or never..
My Nexus 6 should arrive on Dec 15 and I'm totally looking forward to dumping LG G3. It took half year to bump the bootloader and get AOSP, it's too much for me. And I can't stand LG firmware, it's crap and laggy.
so I wonder, how many ppl here are waiting/ready to jump the ship ?
Why do so many people complain about lag i have zero lag. And as for development being slow if it was that big of a problem learn to do it yourself which a lot of people dont have time for. Nexus 6 will get way better development support because its bootloader can already be unlocked and its completely open source so hardly a fair comparison imo. Wouldnt ditch my G3 entirely for a n6 but would love to try one

Wouldn't switch right now, myself. The N6 is showing the same early-adopter problems the N5 did. Also not willing to encourage Google to take the road they are starting to lean towards. Given the spec comparisons between the N6 and the current and near-term competition, the asking price is a bit, optimistic shall we say, on Google's part. Beyond those concerns, I really like my G3. Beautiful display, snappy and responsive. I can't even say that LG's skin bothers me all that much. There were some additional features I wanted, so I rooted and did some tinkering with Xposed, but I am still running the stock ROM, and expect to be for the foreseeable future. Being that I haven't run stock for longer than it took me to root my previous phones, that's saying something. The only thing I can think of that might tempt me to flash a custom ROM would be if the PA team added the G3 to their list of officially supported devices. Even that might not be enough. Having been a flash junkie for a bit, I do appreciate the stability of a (mostly) stock ROM these days.
This years nexus phone simply costs too much this time off-contract. I think more people would opt to get the OPO. I managed to snag a G3 for $69 on contract. I wouldn't normally go on-contract, but we got a really sweet deal from work that made it worthwhile. (Free roaming data in any country, massive minutes package, special international rates, etc...)
This device is clearly intended for international users, For US/Canadian users your better off owning a Samsung, HTC or Motorola, If your into custom anything.
I personally would like to change over from the G3 to the Nexus 6 or the Moto x 2014. If the Nexus 6 is to big for me i'll defnitly go for the Moto X 2014. Either way eff this lg ****.
The G3 is THE NICEST device, Physically. But when it comes anything about the phone that isn't physical it just sucks sack. (except that notification area, LG did right here, But failed everywhere else)

I can't speak for everyone here, But for myself my G3 lags like **** and the responsiveness goes into the toilet the instant ANY Xposed module is installed (I haven't found a module yet that doesn't cause a system wide lag and/or battery drain). After I disable module and everything is fine, Re-enable ANY module and phone is back to performing like ****.
On my phone some apps cause the same thing.
It's not the fact that we "can't" reset, It's the fact that your playing Russian roulette on this device everytime you install anything and then having to flash every damn time an app causes an internal slowdown. (Most of the time uninstalling the bad app doesn't help, Usually requires a full flash to get rid of the problem.)
All Xposed modules on D852 = Will cause system wide phone lag for no explainable reason.
All Custom kernel on D852 = Will cause system wide phone lag for no explainable reason.
Some apps on D852 = Will cause system wide phone lag for no explainable reason.
Just because someone develops their own stuff isn't going to make anything faster.
It would take you just as long to develop anything as it would for anyone that is currently already developing for this platform.
If your not waiting for someone to build you something, You're just sitting there waiting the same amount of time waiting on yourself to do the exact same thing. Not only that but you can sit here on the G3 and get 1 rom a month or you can get a phone with real development and have roms fired at you so fast you can't even test them all.
I want to. I want to get the moto x '14. But I'm on verizon edge. And that means to do it now is have to pay 200 bucks and give them the phone. Or wait 8 months and just give them the phone. (I have to pay 75% of the phones off contract price at 26 bucks a month.) or if I pay it off 100% I can keep it. So I'm going to wait another month or so and see how lollipop treats us vzw people. If I don't get lp by then I'm going to pay them the money and go on my merry way. I'll never buy a phone with a aftermarket skin again. Just moto and nexus.
My wife got the m8. Hate dealing with it. Mom got the s5. Its a pain. And me with LG. I rocked moto back in the devour days with blur. I'd rather have that **** than this. But. Hey. Whatever. I think Motorola should do a devour redo. Same unibody metal shell, New specs, New screen, no blur. Oh man it'd be amazing.
Sent from my LG G3.
I was thinking but not any more. Love g3 for external memory and removable battery.
I was between the N6 and the G3, and picked the G3 because it is half the price! I even got the 32/3GB version for a little bit more. I couldn't believe Google's asking price for the Nexus 6. Oh well, good for them! It seems it's selling well even though it has a SLEW of problems! For its size it has terrible battery life and mediocre imaging... For their asking price I'd say it's not a good deal, except for the whole idea that it's going to get updated for years to come! But by next year or the following at most I'll be changing devices anyways...
Regardless, the Nexus 6 looks like a good phone. But I'm too happy with my G3 awesome battery, awesome screen, 0 lag, great camera. No complaints! Enjoy your Nexus 6 It's a monster of a phone
I would like a N6 but its rather pricey and more of a sideways moment on the G3.
The main reason I want a N6 is for the Dev support not due to lag on the G3 cause I have non, my is lighting fast.

Same... zero lag ever, still on 4.4.2 waiting for OTA.
I don't know why people say this phone is laggy... I think they're just whingers. Mine is slick as a really slick thing. No root, no XPosed fail modules, just stock smooth.
Hello All!
I currently have a G2 on ATT. I had bought a used G3 about 6 months ago and was disappointed in battery life and performance- felt it was a little stuttery. My best friend has 2 G3s and claims I had a defective one as he gets great battery and performance. G2 is a great device but I am just getting bored with it.
I was curious how this phone is holding up a year after its release and if performance has gotten better with Lolipop? How is the battery life doing these days?
Lastly, any clue as to why the tmobile variant is so much more expensive than any other? Seems to be about $100 more than the att, verizon, us cellular, and sprint versions. Even though I am on ATT, I want the Tmobile version because of the QI charging (and not crappy pma) and the unlocked bootloader. I should still get LTE on the ATT network with a tmo phone yes?
Im hoping with the impending g4 release, prices on the g3 will fall sharply and I can give it a shot again.

It's hard to change from G2 to any other phone since G2 has the best battery life (Droid Turbo is probably only phone which has better battery life).
If I was you, I would stick with G2 until prices of G4 drops down, then buy G4. six more months wont kill you and G2 is still a beast phone.
Even i own G3 and I love it, I dont consider G3 an upgrade over G2 (upgrade is something that works better and works properly.) G3 still has some errors which can be fixed by rooting, but G4 hasn't got any of those errors and is even better than G3.
But if you really got some extra cash that bothers you, you can buy G3.
I recommend sticking with the g2. I switched carriers and was forced to buy the g3(g2 not available on us cellular) and performance/battery life is hard to get used to when coming from a g2. In my experience the lollipop update made battery life worse. If you are bored with it just try a new ROM until the price on the g4 drops.

You might also install custom LG's rom which will provide faster and more responsive OS. (like CloudyROM or Androidnow HD G3)
Everyone is telling you to wait for the G4 but it will have even worse battery than the G3 due to its larger screen size (since battery life seems to be your main concern)
I had the G2 (loved it) and now have the G3 and a year later it seems to be running smoother than when i just purchased it. and with the one year mark approaching i will be buying a new battery (cant do that with the G2) although i can go a full day with one charge.
Camera is better than G2
Screen is larger and better res than G2
Processor is better
Ram is better
Expandable memory
replaceable battery
Did i mention wireless charging?
and IMO it looks better than the G2
So you decide. :good:
P.S
bootloader is not an issue, it can be bumped and have custom roms on any variant.

I had the att version g3 and sold it for these reasons:
- locked bootloader so no custom roms (at the time)
- laggy , stuttering performance
- poor battery life
- stupid pma wireless charging instead of qi standard
As in understand it, the bootloader for att and other variants has been bypassed and now there are custom roms.
Now that there are custom roms, is the overall over heating, lag, and stuttering been fixed? I have no problem rooting and exploring new roms and tweaks.
I can buy the t-mobile version to enable standard qi wireless charging. Will I get lte on att using the d851 t-mobile version?
Battery life may be better now with custom roms amd now that I know how to use greenify and read battery stats better. Or I can get an extended battery as I don't mind a thicker phone.
I predict the g3 will drop to the $250 range soon and for that price it seems worth it.
Thoughts?

The G4 has the same size screen as the G3.
I have had the G3 since launch day, coming from a G2, and it still looks in brand new condition without ever using a case. I have the while model, so you can't see fine scratches on the back like a dark glossy phone. Absolutely no hairline scratches on the display either, and with custom ROMs performance is fantastic.

You're absolutely right. I think i meant larger than the G2
but even though the G3 and G4 have the exact same screen
it manages to drain battery faster than the G3

Which roms do you recommend? There are a few lg specific features I really enjoy like qslide apps. I have cloudy on my g2 and like it a lot. Should I stick with cloudy or what else do you recommend?

Jasmine ROM is a great stock-based ROM. I'm on BlissPop which is an AOSP 5.1.1 ROM, so no LG apps.

Best bet is stick to cloudy, buttery smooth and will let you keep all the lg features you like (ie.Qslide)
Well I bit the bullet and bought an "excellent condition" (so says the ad) LG G3 D851 for tmobile for $200! It doesnt have a charger and is missing the back camera lens (a $10, 3 minute fix), but all the other pictures look great. I checked the iemei with Tmobile by using their tool and talking to their chat and they say it is clear.
Right now it is on simple mobile which I assume means it is unlocked already right?

If T-Mobile gave you the OK with the IMEI it should be unlocked and ready for activation.

They said the imei was clear, but would not give me an unlock code. They said I have to have an account with them to request it or the original account holder has to request it. If it is not already unlocked I will buy an unlock code.

If you already bought the phone and they cleared the IMEI just sign up for one of their plans and they will provide the unlock code. no need to purchase a code first.
I'm telling you from experience, i bought a nexus4 a couple years back and was locked on T-Mobile took it to AT&T (My carrier at the time) and they provided an unlock code. didn't have to buy one. They were both GSM phones though, i don't know if that matters.
