LG G3 screen sensitivity FIX - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My screen started having all those kind of dead spots where i just couldn't use anymore, and the touch would just jump to the closest area around the dead spot.
I was looking all over for solutions and most of the solutions I've read about (Factory reset and so on) were no effective.
Anyway, I saw this video "Lg g2 ghost touch and dead spot on the Touchscreen" where in one of the comments one guy suggested using the spark mechanism of lighters to give a few sparks to the screen.
I put a coin on the dead spot of the screen and gave a few hits with the sparky thing and it actually worked!!!
I hope this could be helpful to other users, although I have absolutely no idea how it works, but it did. I'm amazed.

So I have had my G3 32gb version for almost a year and this problem popped out of no where 4 days ago. I did exactly what you did and to my surprise it worked lol.:good::good::good:

an or not i hae his issue since today, he touch doesnt respond totally and the only thing i can do is turn on and turn off the screen on rear buttons, and sure i have to press it about 8 seconds to reboot the devide and then the touchscreen is working fine, but after some 1h of sleep screen it dont respond again...i dont know if this are the same problem of yours but is very annoying!

you need to dismantle a " press to spark " lighter and remove the piezoelectric spark generator ( small black bar with a wire in the middle ) , spray some window cleaner on the touchscreen and put a finger along the edge of the display while sparking on the dead spots . the current will go through the screen into your finger .

And your dead spot or dead strip is gone by doing this?

I purchased lg g3 from olx and didnt check it properly whn i bought it home the screen test show a long dead strip i used a coin and put it on the screen and give 2 3 spark with a lighter and it worked my dead strip work again lpoint to b noted i didnt switch off mobile i do it on a battry thank u so much i was going to change my degitizer

wow you are genius thanks very much

Holy ... This totaly works huge THANKS

Hello guys!
I just wanted to ask you about the safety precautions. I mean should i remove the battery or just turn off the phone or the process can be done when the phone is on?

I was totally skeptical about this, but one click on the piezo ignition and back to life! Battery left on, and had my drawing program open.

im totally confused, is there a video showing a process of this? this sounds very dangerous.. lighter.. ignition, fire

Hi I also have LG G3 and face same dead spot issue on my screen, after reading this I tried spark mechanism and its worked, but again after sometime same problem is occurred. Is there any permanent solution for this

Didn't work on me. Is there some special requirement before doing this?

Hermes 8525 Display gone white !!! HELP!!!

My Hermes 8525 display has gone fully white.. I cant see or do anything on it.. Anyone got any idea why this is so ??
8525,
Dutty's Premium Windows Mobile 6
try searching...
typed in " white screen hermes" and came up with a heap of links... heres 1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2254487
Did the display fade to white? Or did you turn your screen back on and find it was all white?
There's a known problem for HTC Hermes with the D-pas causing white screen, and a little mod to fix it by putting something behind the D-Pad itself such as a small very thin piece of foam. Obviously this requires taking your mobile apart.
If you flashed and then got a white screen I'd try getting into your bootloader and take it from there....

Hi,
had the same problem. I took the battery out (read this in one post somewhere here) and then everything went ok. I also saw the post about the dpad, but was not nessesary. Although I think I was just lucky. I think that it happens often, you should do that.
Regards,
They display faded into White.. It was working fine. one fine day, as i was replying to a text message.. or when searching phone book.. or any action.. slowly the entire screen faded into white.. once i did a restart and removed the battery a cpl of times and it seemed ok.. but now its permanently white.. i cant even enter boot logger mode.. or even if i did, i wont know or cant see that i am in bootlogger mode...
Any ideas??

1st, scuse please 1st post, bad day at work...
1. Does it get hot anywhere on the front of the hermes. A mate of mine had a capacitor burn out that caused white screen...
2. Try opening the keypad then reseting. This worked for mine BUT it is a pressure issue and as I closed it found that touching a certain spot in the bottom right corner of the casing would make it whitescreen again.
Other than that you might have to open up your hermes to try and fix...
Heres how to open up :http://michael-channon.spaces.live.com/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c02_owner=1
Make sure you have the correct tools though as it makes life easier. No. 6 torque key and a flat bladed screwdriver are good..
Cheers...
I just had the same problem on my TyTN. Everything but the cover and battery was replaced in warranty and now it is solved. It seem to be the connectors to the screen that crack.

This is the same thing that happened to me At&T told me it was the D-pad because that broke before my white screen issue and they replaced it for me
white screen probs
had the same problem on a few hermes now....replaced the screen to no availl....after many other trials i replaced the circuit board under the d-pad and problem sloved.....i havnt got the know how to test the board for faults but i would agree that the board is the problem any one know what the function of the part is exactly....screen controller????
screws...
I had the same problem and was able to fix it temporarily using the foam-behind-the-Dpad-connector trick several (like 6 or 7) times but it always went white again within a few days. I finally got it to stick by loosening the tiny screws on the connector very slightly...haven't had a problem since. I'm not entirely convinced it wasn't just completely luck though. But seriously after so many times trying different thicknesses of foam and banging my head against the wall, I'm glad something worked. And now I can take it apart and put it back together in about 7 minutes, so that's a bonus! Might be worth a try if the foam thing doesn't work. Good luck.

Hey thanks all you guys.. I guess its the D-Pad connector issue.. will follow the resolution suggestions.. I will let you know if that helped...
mine fades to white everyonce in a while then comes back or i have to take the battery out and all is fine. it did it when i put wm6.1 on it. was perfect before i did that.
hi there
ive been having this issue for ages and have opened my handset to reseat the connector no fewer than 14 times in the last 2 weeks
today i had a breakthrough though,
what i did was completely cleaned the connectors using rubbing alcohol and a q-tip
the important bit: RESEAT the connector properly. it may look like its reseated but look at it side on and it should be perfectly flat, and if necessary push on it a little to make sure its seated
then, on the back cover (which you removed to get access to th d-pad) you'll notice a little rectangle 'pad' there roughly in the same place as the d-pad connector
get a white sticky label, or a post-it note or whatever and stick a little piece over that
then seal your phone back up and it should work.
i cant promise anything though, and any damage you do to your phone is entirely your responsibility

HTC Touch Diamond Screen not responding

Hi All,
My diamond screen suddenly stopped responding. The screen calibration is also not working. I tried a hard reset and after that, it stopped at the screen 'Tap the screen to setup your windows phone'. I am not even able to do that. Any help is appreciable. Thanks in advance.

Try re-flashing a rom, or maybe your touch screen (digitizer) needs replacing, if you do this yourself i would recommend buying the digitizer and lcd together as one, it will make a whole lot easier trust me lol. The lcd screen is easy to break.
Had this problem, too, but since I couldn't get back to stock SPL at that time I put my Diamond into a shelf for about 2 days.
When I then tried to get back to stock SPL the screen suddenly responded again.
So, try to take off the battery for a long time (more than a day) and hope it recovers.
Didn't have the problem again.

I had a similar problem solved with changing the touch screen since the phone was under warranty I have to revert to the stock SPL and stock ROM before I gave it for service. If your phone is not under warranty you can buy the touch screen from ebay.com with a manual and all required instruments for replacing the same.
This happened to me because I was talking to someone over an hour in a humid place which caused sweat to get into the phone through the speakers.

Solution
Okay, I've just had this problem with an HTC Touch, and I think this works with any HTC that has a "digitizer" rather than an all-in-one touchscreen (I think newer phones have digitisers).
I'm not sure if this will always work, but I've just done it - sometimes the inactive touch screen is "broken" because the layers are stuck together (so the phone can't tell where the touch is, hence unresponsive). With mine, I looked at the screen side on and could see a kind of "oily" patch in the light.
The solution is to get masking/gaffa tape - the very sticky brown one. Stick it down on the screen/digitizer and then keep pulling it off - this pulls the layers from each other. I kept repeating this lots before it worked - and in the end I pulled the top layer completely off (I think you should pull from the top of the phone, as the layers need to be attached at the bottom of the screen/digitizer). Once it pulled away, I gently lay it back down (after panicking!!) and hey presto it started working again.
Good luck!

Putting the phone in the fridge makes screen work!
I know this is an old thread but why does putting the phone in the fridge for a few minutes make the touch screen work? Even if I put it out of a moving car and it cools down, then it works for a bit.
Anyone know why this is and how I can fix the phone permanently?

[Q] how does the touch screen work ?

After the sprint service reset my phone and killed my calender, I got an automated message asking if my problem was resolved. Well then I pulled over and brang up the dialing pad on the screen and started trying to press the numbers but as with 90% of the time they do not work. I started licking my fingers and pressing on the display and started *****ing and my 17 year old daughter asks my what I am doing , she than says why don't you calibrate my display. That would be great if there was one! She has. An lg touch and hers has one but mine don't she asks? Now I need to know how to make mine work before I poke my finger through the screen. I can't even hang up the phone 50% of the time. Is there a secret way to use this touch screen or do I just have to use the right finger and licking my fingers to make it work just ain't right.
Capacitive touch screens, do not need to be calibrated, unlike their cheaper cousins, and if you are having accuracy issues you need to either Odin the phone or bring it to Sprint and let them do it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitive_sensing
Licking your fingers?!? That's totally unnecessary good sir/ma'am. Capacitive screens work by picking up the electrical charge that we have in our bodies. So when we touch the screen, that charge is sent to the display, the sensor and cpu do their thing and figure out where the screen was pressed. That's why you can't use the screen with gloves on (like winter gloves). Anyway, it just sounds like the phone is acting wacky.
Have you just tried rebooting to see if that fixed it? Or turning the screen on and off a few times? My phone acts weird on the lock screen sometimes and just turning off the screen fixes it.
There are a few threads here that address accelerometer problems but if the screen is just not picking up your touch, you may want to take it to Sprint.
that would be sir and it is just one of many problems my phone has. I reset it ,sprint reset it, I am crossing my fingers I got a dud . I was suckered onto the shorter waiting list and had the phone since launch day and in the beginning it was told to me by radio shack that android 2.2 was shortly comming and was going to fix all these problems I am having. I love the phone when it is working correctly but now I am just tired of the issues and promisses not being fullfilled. I read the article in the posting and it explaines different kinds of capacitive tec, gut wich one does the epic have. my wifes epic is so sensitive that it senses 1/4 inch away at times. mine is a luck of the draw and her phone is not mine so I dont use hers enough to see if its really better. I *****ed to sprint enough ,and it took this long, that they are sending me a new one. I doubt they are sending me a new one and expect they are sending me a refurbished one to test. I want to make sure its not something like my fingers not having enough energy to sense or cosmic rays are making my page back button go wacky by itself at random when texting or browsing.
Lol, if cosmic rays are bombarding your phone, we all have a lot more to worry about than the responsiveness of your phone! Sounds like you may have just gotten a bad phone. I would be pissed if Sprint tried to give me a refurb phone. There's a command somewhere in the scripting history on the phone that will tell you whether the phone is refurb. I don't know how to do that. I bet someone on this site does though. I guess the bottom line though is that the phone just needs to work.
And to your wife's phone, yes, the phone can be extremely sensitive. Sometimes, I swear that I didn't touch the screen but the screen registers a touch just because my finger was really close to the screen.
Finally, you may want to flash your phone. If you are not comfortable using ODIN or adb, get Sprint to do it. And not just a factory reset through the settings menu. I mean resetting the phone through recovery or download mode. Good luck.

Screen died?

Last night I was out and during the night I pulled my desire z out of my pocket to find that the screen was dead, the soft touch buttons were still lit up and working but no display. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot and no luck, you can hear it booting and even unlock/receive calls and txts etc once it has booted up just the screen stays blank the whole time so have to do everything on feel.
Essentially does this just mean my screen has a hardware fault? is it worth trying to fix? I assume the only option would be to purchase a replacement screen and dissemble and reassemble it?
(warranty is not worth it as I live in New Zealand and would have to send my phone back to the UK where I bought it from, also I have dropped it quite a few times so probably voided anyway...)
Thanks in advance for any input
Does it never display anything? So not even a flash during boot or something?
Because then it is probably a hardware problem.
Since the soft touch buttons do still work I think there might be a little crack or something in the flat cable that connects the bottom half with the top.
Maybe you could check whether you can see if the cable is broken or not?
The best thing to do then is to look for a replacement and try to fix it yourself or bring it to a shop where they can do it for you.
No it never displays anything, completely dead the whole time. The touch input is still working though as I answered a phone call this morning on it by making the usual gesture just without being able to see anything. Doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the cable itself as far as I can see. Yea might have to get someone to have a look at it.
My phone is acting the same. I dropped my phone in the pond before, but pulled battery out on time and had it in rice for a day. My phone was still working for about two weeks after that incident. I dropped it and had one little crack at the top of the screen and about a week after that it died when I had a water balloon fight with the phone in my pocket. D;
Do any of you know if the replacement lcd screen/digitizer for the Desire Z would work for the G2?
I had the same thing happening to my G2 screen, only it was intermittently working for a little while, then just completely died and wouldn't work. It was doing this crazy flickering thing then the back light wouldn't go on at all. If I held the phone at a certain angle in the sun, I could see that the pixels were indeed working on the display, but there was no backlight to make them normally visible.
So I purchased a replacement screen from ebay and carefully followed the directions on a youtube video for a G2 take apart. Its not a hard task to take apart and get down to the screen itself. It was rather easy. After putting it back together the screen still didn't work! Sounds work, i can also receive calls etc. But the screen still doesn't work!
Is there any way that this could be a software issue?
Oh and PS, I believe the LCD replacement would work for both the desire Z and the G2. They are identical phones after all right? I'd say its a safe bet. The screen I bought was only 35 bucks. Didn't think that was a bad deal.
Another dead screen or something else?
Few days ago my phone fell of the couch onto a rug - no big deal, so far it has survived much worse, but when I picked it up, the colors were all messed up - overly green and red. Tried restarting - no luck. Everything worked fine, except the colors, but then the screen turned of completely. I could hear notifications, phonecalls, but the screen was dead. After some tapping on the screen, it turned on again - with ****ed up colors. Then started flickering and was gone again. Few more times I could turn it on by tapping before it was dead for good.
Figured, after all these drops it survived, maybe the screen connector is a bit loose. I mean, I could sometime get a contact when tapping it, so I dissasambled it completely, secured all the connection, put it all back tougether and fired up - same thing: dead screen, phone working.
Has anyone had such problem before? Is it screen that is dead, or connector or... I have no clue... I would like try to fix it on my own, with some replacement parts I could get on ebay - but, what gave?

[Q] My HTC 1 X is drop dead

I was at a party and had my phone in my clothes since i didn' have a pocket for it..
It was working fine, came to hotel few hours later and i saw that on my lower part off my screen had a different colour, liiiiiiittle darker just like fog. But it worked perfect...
Then i was going to sleep, i rebootet my phone and had it on charge, the problem was that my phone didn't start again...
I had it on charge the entire night without any red or green lamps showing on.. I came home yesterday and since then i tried with rice, and i tried have it in the fridge and i tried charge it through PC and regular... Nothing is working.... What can be wrong? And what should i do....???
My HTC ONE X is rooted with this rom: Android Revolution HD 18.1
Edit:
I can not do ANYTHING, not even vol- +power...
I turned in my phone today and they said that it is PROBABLY moist that has been casing this.... Fkk, i don't like that...
Well, i was hoping that someone here would answer me and maybe know a trick but like i said i turned it in for service and hopefully i will have it back before the end of March .... Untill then i am using one of my VERY old abd broken Nokia N85, it's really sucky to downgrade like that, damn! Hahaha:cyclops:
Probably a hardware fault my friend. Its strange that a moist would penetrate the tiny little gaps on the corner. I did accidentally splash water to my phone but nothing happened and still working fine till now.:good:
