[Q] - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Having tried unsuccessfully to flash non-stock ROMs on the T705 I'm finding it very difficult to find a ROM where the data functions (Make calls & texts etc) all work. Are there any ROMs out there where you can still use the data elements of the T705, otherwise it seems that T705 owners have to rely on Stock until one comes up?
Thanks

[Q] Can't Receive Texts with Custom Rom

I have had this problem before, with no clear resolution, but I think I have narrowed down the circumstances.
When I am running stock or stock rooted, I have full sms capability. When I flash a ROM, I lose it. I have had full capability on it with custom ROM's but not anymore. Sprint told me it's probably a network thing, update prl, profile etc.. That doesn't work.
I always use Calkulin's format all tool and I always stick with Gingerbread ROM's.
I do no use GVoice, at all and I refuse to. The one time I tried, and it allowed me to receive texts but phone calls wouldn't work.
I found this thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284092 --- but it gives me FC's and I think I even lost root with it. It didn't solve my problem so I flashed after 5 minutes with in.
Any suggestions?
Personally what I would do is one click Odin back to stock el29. Odin a modem of your choice with clear phone efs checked, and allow it to reactivate with Sprint. Then try a ROM again after updating profile. Do it at your own risk of course. Clear phone efs wipes your nvram. NVRAM contains lots of low-level settings for your phone, including your Sprint phone #, Sprint data login, etc. It reactivated fine for me but SFhub said that it didn't work for someone else. Good luck.

See if you can get into recovery, if you can then reflash the rom and see if that helps

[Q] Can't retrieve backup from Kies?

I have flashed several Roms and when I go to Kies to retrieve my messages and phone logs it doesn't seem to connect. Is there another way to get this information back on my phone after a full system wipe? I really like the JB Roms but no use if I cant get the data back. Oh by the way I am on T-mobile and have a GS III rooted. thanks for any support on this issue in advance.

Radio Data Wifi HELP

Hey all,
Ok, I started having issues a few days ago with my SMS/MMS and I notice at the same time I was getting poor Wifi / Radio service. (Custom ROM's)
Well now it's gotten worse, I just attempted 2 different ROM's (both cm10.2 based) and was unable to get a Radio signal, Wifi wouldn't function at all, and no data at all. I came from a fully functional stock (ZVC). I did try switching some settings in Data / Wifi and etc back and forth as well as reboot and etc, also tried a freegee fix / restoring of the EFS and nothing helped.
Can't really stay on the ROM with no service as I do need to be able to use my device, so I am gonna have to restore my Stock img and perhaps if some help is posted I can give it another shot.
Thanks all!

This may not help, but it won't hurt either. Try flashing zvb modem. Look in the teeny bin thread.
Zvc and zvb modems seem to be the same. But who knows.

(Q) Wi-Fi Problems after 4.3 Update

I have a friend that updated his T999 to Android 4.3, after that some problems with wi-fi have appeared. The phone automatically connects and disconnects to the routers, and he has missed several things for that. I am a newbie and no developer but I have flashed many custom roms in some devices and I tend to favor CM and Slim Roms. My question is, if I flash a custom rom in the phone, will the wi-fi problems be gone? He doesn't want to try custom roms because he will lose all of his apps although I told him that he doesn't have to worry. Also, I know this is a stupid question but if I flash a custom rom, will he lose his network connectivity/ability to make calls? Most of the roms I have flashed have been in tablets and cdma phones but this is my first one and his phone isn't locked to T-mobile, he uses a different network because his T999 is unlocked. Sorry for my bad english
He won't lose network connectivity, but first make sure that auto network switch is deselected in WiFi settings and see if that fixes the problem

You could back up the apps to ext SD card. Then do a factory reset. Sometimes settings get messed with and A factory reset will put the settings back to stock. But if that don't work you will have to do a reset anyways to flash a custom rom. A custom rom could help... You shouldn't have any connect ability issues with a flashed rom I have used pac man, CM, beanstalk, custom stockers and always had wifi data and network. If you do your homework on the rom you want to use in the forum here you will know what will and will not work. And can see what people are having issues with and what they do to fix each problem.

My phone gets really bad reception everywhere with 3rd party ROM.

I've got the T-Mobile M919 S4 and I have a 4.4.4 ROM on it (Insane Hybrid).
I've got the latest NK2 Baseband and I also don't want to upgrade to Lollipop since I did before and it was lag lag lag lag lag after a week or so.
I've noticed recently that it is getting very poor reception.
My buddy's S3 will have two bars and mine will show no service. Or it'll have bars but no data service. Or I won't be able to call out.
There also seems to be an unusual amount of spots where I have no service.
When I do have service, the data can get really really slow.
My GPS lock also frequently gets lost during navigation.
Any ideas? Do I need to flash a kernal, modem, or radio or something? Which ones?

Try updating your baseband. That sometimes solves it. Here's the link:

Thanks, I'll give those a shot. I'm going to flash this and see what happens:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...stock-base-4-4-4-nk2-rooted-deodexed-t2990478
I'm still a bit confused on some of the terminology and what's bundled with what.
- The "modem" is the same as the "radio", right? It's a driver that controls how the device deals with cellular voice and data signals. I can find the version of my modem/radio by looking at the last letters in my "baseband."
- The modem/radio driver is usually bundled with a ROM, right? So the ROM that I flashed above will also update/replace my current modem/radio driver?
- Modem/radio drivers can be separate from the ROM itself. If I use a 4.4.4 rom that has NK2 bundled, I can still flash just a NH4 radio using ODIN onto the old ROM and be ok, right?
- Where does the kernal come in? I'm assuming the kernel is bundled with the ROM and the kernal is only in charge of the switching between cellular and WiFi data, right?
That's the price you pay with custom roms, sometimes your lucky and everything works the way it's supposed to sometimes it doesn't.
Run phone for a day and make sure everything works properly after flashing back to stock before attempting custom again.
If you need your device to function as a reliable phone, making and receiving calls and messages you may have to rely on stock roms.
Pp.
