I have a friend that updated his T999 to Android 4.3, after that some problems with wi-fi have appeared. The phone automatically connects and disconnects to the routers, and he has missed several things for that. I am a newbie and no developer but I have flashed many custom roms in some devices and I tend to favor CM and Slim Roms. My question is, if I flash a custom rom in the phone, will the wi-fi problems be gone? He doesn't want to try custom roms because he will lose all of his apps although I told him that he doesn't have to worry. Also, I know this is a stupid question but if I flash a custom rom, will he lose his network connectivity/ability to make calls? Most of the roms I have flashed have been in tablets and cdma phones but this is my first one and his phone isn't locked to T-mobile, he uses a different network because his T999 is unlocked. He won't lose network connectivity, but first make sure that auto network switch is deselected in WiFi settings and see if that fixes the problem

You could back up the apps to ext SD card. Then do a factory reset. Sometimes settings get messed with and A factory reset will put the settings back to stock. But if that don't work you will have to do a reset anyways to flash a custom rom. A custom rom could help... You shouldn't have any connect ability issues with a flashed rom I have used pac man, CM, beanstalk, custom stockers and always had wifi data and network. If you do your homework on the rom you want to use in the forum here you will know what will and will not work. And can see what people are having issues with and what they do to fix each problem.

The other day I took the plunge and decided to root my phone and install some ROMs. It was all going well until I started noticing that I wasn't able to make/receive calls or texts. I had gio pro 1.4 installed when I first noticed this problem and I had read that installing cyanogenmod 7.2 had helped someone with a similar issue so I installed it.
Now I have cnmod 7.2 installed with the same problem and with my carrier name changed from virgin to bell. If I restart my phone I am able to call and send messages for a few minutes but then craps out again.

unfortunately u are having the same issue as me you have to select use 2g only which is only good if you are on a network that supports 2g the nv data file become corrupt somehow and you lose 3g capability i am trying to figure away to fix the gio but to no avail right now

Actually I found out why I was having this problem recently. Turns out I have a different model of the gio (gt-5660M) . When I installed gio pro 1.4 I completely overwrote my stock firmware including the baseband so it screwed up my network settings. I had to find my stock firmware, flash it using Odin and then I just installed clockwork recovery and flashed cyanogenmod 7.2 using that. It's been fine working since then.

well atleast your lucky i restored my original software and it has the right modem when i do a network search it picks up the 3g networks just wont connect to them
Yes, I accidentally did the same to my GT-S5660M. What I did was reflashed the stock ROM and then rooted, installed CWM recovery, and flashed a custom ROM, being careful not to override the baseband. Thankfully the ROM I flashed used CWM recovery and not Odin, and I didn't have to worry about a thing.
I just upgraded to the note2 and have not rooted my phone or put any custom ROM on, still trying to decide what route I want to go with that.
But I use to have an inspire4G and ran Cyanogenmod and in the settings it had the ability to select only the 2G network, which is ideal for me when I am out in bad reception area. Is this only possible on custom ROM's or am I missing something in the setting on the stock ROM?

It's usually a custom ROM thing but I don't think anyone has accomplished that yet with the note 2. I could be wrong though so go check out some ROM threads

I can not get any radio to work to make or receive calls! I flashed everyone out there and still can not make or receive calls. What method can I use do to get it to work? I flashed radio from TWRP with Factory reset, delvik and cache and then flash with no wipe and I just cant get that or any radio to work. I just get AT&T when I do a scan, which I use T-Mobile. When I choose search in settings in mobile networks, still nothing. When I try to use phone, it always says no network avail. and yes I have data box checked off. It just seams lately any Rom I flash after the newest stock, (JB) I have radio issues, can not make or receive calls. I even erased, wiped everything and started from scratch with stock. Phones works fine, but when I try any ROM, no calls, no matter what radio I flash. I must be doing something wrong. I must say, that I flashed many a Roms before and all worked well until now! I even download same radios in case I got a bad download. I can use kernels, such as Tiberius with Stock JB. I Flash a Rom and no radio, no matter what Rom. My version in stock is UVMC6, SGH T-989 phone. (T-Mobile). I know all phones are different and thought maybe something in stock files I might be able to use, but don't know which files. I am not a dev by any means and thought if I could use the stock I have now can work with the any Rom here. I never dirty flash anything, all Roms work that I flash from sd card, just not able to use phone in any Rom at all! I thought maybe I can manually put in APN, but I have no idea were to get address to enter. I am from Delaware if that matters as far as APN. Verify your APN settings are correct. If there isn't a t mobile APN set up than try creating one. Also go to Settings > About Phone > Status and make sure your phone has a valid IMEI number (anything other than 0)

Thanks, yeah after all reading and troubleshooting it seems APN is where I have to create and/or edit! I found APN settings on Google and wrote down the settings that is on stock Rom where phone is working and will try it. Thanks for heading me in the right direction.

I'm in Canada and had same problem with SlimBean ROM (which is my favourite ROM). I flashed phone back to a stock ROM, flashed DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE, the ROM, and Gapps with TWRP recovery (in that order) and was back in business.

Still no radio, will try your way, thanks!
Guys I am using HTC One X and facing a very frustrating problem. My data connection disconnects after every 10-15 minutes. When I go to the settings option it says ""Disconnected because service is unavailable"".. If I tap it to make it switch off and then tap it again to turn it on, it keeps saying the same thing "Disconnected because service is unavailable". The only method to make the data connection work gain is to
a) Switch to airplane mode, and then switch it back again to normal mode, and data connection would connect
b) Change the network connection mode to WCDMA (as its not available in my region, network goes off) and then turn it back to GSM or WCDMA/GSM (and the network comes back again) and data connects automatically....

Even if you go to google and type "HTC ONE X d" it will show the problem in suggestions too. My HTC One X is not rooted. Its running on JB and stock Sense ROM.
Can anyone help me out ??
1) I have checked other threads before creating this new thread because on other threads people are talking about rooting. I dont have a rooted and phone and I wont root it now.
2) I tried factory reset many times. It doesnt help.
3) I tried other SIM cards too. And face the same problem with other SIMs too.
4) I contacted my service provider too. APN are all correct. I dont face any problem with the same SIM and APN in my other handset (HTC Inc S)

Did you mess around with the kernels, as that seems to be, very often, messing with the radios.
If not then it might as well be factory error... I would recommend that you try flashing a custom rom like ARHD or if you are not on the WWE version, then you can download the newer WWE rom from the ARHD thread as well.
If that doesn't help, well then, you might wanna consider bringing it to a repair shop.

I havent messes with kernels. I havent rooted it either.. Its just like brand new one. I just factory reseted it before using it. and the problem started to occur. I factory reseted it gain but the problem still occurs..
I dont want to flash a custom rom on it as I am not very much into this rooting stuff. what is this WWE version ?

ok.. i installed a custom ROM (AOSP) and the problem disappeared. But i didnt liked the ROM so i came to Sense based ROM (ViperX) and the problem started again. So it seems that there is no problem with the phone itself. It shows this problem when running sense rom. Any help ??

Hello I Updated to Kit Kat 4.4.2 about a month ago & everything has been working fine. but recently my network has been dropping & emails, Facebook etc taking ages to load & I have to either try & switch on/off flight mode to reset network or find new network to get connection.
Do i need a new modem or is it just EE being a **** Network again
My rom is the stock Nordic n7105xxufnd3.
Can I get another modem for this to load through odin or do i need to revert back to 4.3 rom to get better network connection.

Do you have a custom recovery? If so nandroid (backup everything) and factory wipe. If not, it's worth trying anyway just less convenient without root or cus. recovery.
Basically there is little reason why your connection should get worse expect hardware failure or network problems, this could could be as simple as a bad contact with the sim, but it's worth ruling out software issues first as they're normally fairly simple (and free). It's also worth trying a different network if you can. It'll help if we can start ruling more things out.

Cheers I am going to try uninstalling a few apps i dont use & maybe clear some caches etc.
See if that makes a difference.

Did you ever get your signal to stop switching on EE mate? The same thing is happening to me and its a pain in the arse. I'm considering changing the modem but I don't know which one would be good for EE.
