Hi. Well I had rooted my phone and was running CM6.1.1 with snapdragon kernel. When the evo shift came out, I bought it and changed over to the shift. 3days in to using shift, the micro usb port failed and would not charge. It wouldn't even recognize when connected to my computer. So had to go and return it.
But when I changed over to evo, it started having problems with data connection. I could make calls but it would not be able to connect via 3g. It could connect through wifi but that was it.
So I unrooted my phone using .ruu and haven't tried it yet. Could you guys help me out and advise me in what option I have. Thanks again.
I had a similar problem when I had my hero....I lost 3g and ended up finding the solution was to wipe all, flash a sense rom and then go back to cyanogen....
Thanks. I'll try that and see what happens. I'll switch to evo tomorrow and see how it goes..
i had a similar problem with 3g data being very faulty after i updated all of my radios to the latest versions. what i did to fix the problem was full data/cache/dalvik wipe and then flash the radio: EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19, flash the wimax:EVO_WiMAX_27167_R01, and flash the PRI: EVO_PRI_1.77_003. Prior to that, i had the latest PRI and it would constantly screw with my data connection, so whatever you do, do not update to the latest PRI. Its actually been said that something weird is up with it and that this problem is common.
the radios can be found right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
good luck man, hope this helped!
I have the same issue. I went from CM7 to a sense ROM and I still dont have date even after the new radio updates. Is there anything else I can do?
Have you already tried reverting back to your old radio that worked?
sure did. Nothing.
I actually did a full unroot using ruu. Then started my phone again back in stock mode. It worked after full unroot. Now I re-rooted my phone and back to using CM6.1.1 with snap dragon kernel.
Same Issue Please Help
Im having the same issue as the OP. I went from CM7 to a sense ROM and lost my Data connection. I can only connect through wifi. However I can't update my profile or my PRL This is a pretty big issue for me as I can't use any data features on the phone except when connected via wifi.
Can someone please suggest a way to re-establish my ability to connect to the sprint network. I do not have 4G in my area so I can't try that route. I have searched the forum for the last day and a half and still haven't found a solution. Ive tried reflashing the newest radios and still no luck. I have cleared the dalvik, cache and factory data reset mutiple times and I have tried sprint lovers newest ROm and also even tried reverting back to the original backup I took when I first rooted before I flashed any ROM's and still no luck. I also tried the ##3283#/MSL code/Data/ restore option and still nothing.
ANY Suggestions? Unrooting would be a last resort option followed by going to sprint and getting a new phone.

going to a sense rom, dialing ##data# and then entering your msl, then going to edit mode, top section, hit menu, and do a reset?
this usually fixes alot of data issues from what i am aware. It won't harm your phone anyway.
Yeah I have tried the ##data# restore multiple times and still nothing. It will reboot and begin the hands free activation but it never successfully completes it. Afterwards when I try to update profile it just sits in a loop saying "the network is preparing you services..." for 20 mins and then times out with nothing happening. I even tried the ##data# restore method again after reading this, for good measure, and still nothing.
Is it possible to connect via 4G and update my profile even tho I cant via 3G? I'm about an hour away from any 4G service I think Cincinnati may be the closest.
this is extremely frustrating and the worst part is that I dont know how it happened as I followed every instruction to the tee and Ive flashed mutiple multiple ROMS over the last 6 months and have had no problem until I tried going from CM7 to myn's warm2.2 rls5. After flashing the ROM and wiping EVERYTHING except the SD card I flashed the new Radio's (Cualkin's Combo pack with the newest Radios) and that's when I noticed the data connection was gone. I'm not sure as which step of the process caused the issue as I didn't notice it until I began to go thru the initial setup on the phone and was unable to connect to my gmail account.
I have backed up a few versions of rom's. Would they have the Data info I need and maybe a could just copy and paste a file or does this info need to be downloaded from sprint in order to setup the phone?
Please any advice??? I'd like to try all my options before I reroot and exchange it, If unrooting and returning is my only option can someone please point me to a good guide for the process? I used Unrevoked 3.21 for the root.
So my friend rooted his Evo with Unrevoked. I verified s-off.
He copied a PC36IMG onto his SD which turns out was some 2.1 rooted stock ROM. After doing that his phone could not make/receive calls/text or connect to 1x/3G/4G. Basically an expensive phone that has no phone functions. Everything else works (WiFi included). He flashed http://link.geekfor.me/rootedromzip onto his phone from http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...vo-install-clockwork-recovery.html#post165998.
When I looked at it, he still did not have a custom recovery so I flashed Amon RA PC36IMG. Full factory wiped data/cache/dvalik. Flashed Synergy RC1. Phone still could not make/receive calls and was getting Error 16 when trying to call. Called Sprint and they reprovisioned phone and fixed calls and texting. Noticed his phone is stuck on 1x and cannot connect to 3G when my phone next to his works fine. Did not test 4G yet since I have poor 4G coverage in my area. Cannot update his profile - just sits there like something is happening but it never completes.
What are his options here? Is it a bad radio or something that we can fix? Can we flash a stock rooted ROM and regain 3G? Remember, no nandroid was made unfortunately.
I would try flashing the latest radios just to be sure. And tell your friend to always make a nandroid backup to avoid this problem in the future.
Well his first time flashing. I think he mistakenly thought the PC36IMG as a custom recovery but it was actually an entire ROM.
Didn't have a chance to nandroid. I'm instructing him how to update newest radio combo and seeing what happens.
Update: Flashed latest combo radio. Updated profile and PRL. Still stuck on 1x even after reboot. Is he hosed? Does Sprint have to do something on their end to fix his EVDO? 4G isn't working either by the way.
Update 2: Wimax Keys Checker - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.wimaxkeys says that RSA Key is present. Relieved that he didn't lose his RSA key. Just can't figure for the life of me why he can't connect to 3G or 4G. Not sure where to go from here? Maybe trying to flashing latest stock rooted RUU? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110733
Bumping for some attention.
Hey, happened to me a couple of times, it will come back. Maybe wipe everything again, have you tried ##data# and entering msl key, wait... Have you updated his data profile in settings

Ok, was on the road when I had wife reply...lol.. When you rebooted the phone, did you wipe cache, and dalvik. Then try updating profile? It sounds weird, but has worked for me,without even updating profile. I have had no coverage before after flashing a Rom,also, did just that, and it came back. If rsa keys are present, that is good. If you would be kind enough to reply, whether fixed or not, would appreciate it,anyway, gonna move on...

Did he try updating his profile & prl
Sent from my criffvo
Updating profile and PRL doesn't work. It keeps attempting to update but it is never successful.
I haven't had a chance to get his phone to just try reflashing a new ROM or stock ROM to see what will happen though.
He says using ##data# and entering his MSL code and changing EVDO to automatic doesn't work either.

I would start over again ... wipe completely with Calkulin's "fomat all" zip and flash a rooted stock rom like xhausx. Once the phone boots up, call Sprint and have them walk you through provisioning everything. Once all is well, then move into whatever custom stuff he wants.

You took the words from my mouth!
Is he Flashing the RUU's or just running them through the computer? Normally, you sync your phone or through hBoot and then start the program, try flashing stock Froyo and then factory reset once flashed, it helps clear out traces of old roms etc. If you need anymore help feel free to ask, I would be more than happy!
I don't think it worked.
Calkulin's Format, flashed Odexed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133379.
It showed 3G but I think it was misleading. Wiped and flashed to evodeck and it went back to showing 1x. My phone has 3G showing on evodeck next to his so he definitely has 3G coverage.
I guess it's just time to call Sprint for a re-provision? Does it have to be on a Sense ROM for them to reprovision?

you dont need Sprint to provision, just get your MSL code and do it your self plus I would do a search for people who may of had similar issues and see what they did. Now if that does not work then why dont you check what your network settings are.. See if its set to CDMA(Auto) I remember my Touch Pro I could of set it to 1x maybe something is getting stuck. I think its in ##3282 you check it and I also remember an app on the market called network that did it for you as well.
If that does not work then flash 3.70 radios and then a 3.70RUU and start from scratch.
He already tried ##data#. He can change his EVDO to automatic but it doesn't stay that way.
Alright I don't know how I fixed it but it's fixed.
Just cannot get 4G now. Wimax keys are present. It keeps scanning and cannot get connect. Previously could get 4G at these locations.
I am running EVO as donor/target phone, my is only 1x speed, no matter which rom I try
Synergery, Mik, Stock-Rooted, differ kernal, different PRL, check the data profile Automatic, Try restore but can not cat automatically update, still need to go qpst to update my profile. I have been working on this for two weeks. I went back to my orig phone, it show ev most of time, the speed is must faster than my evo. Searc all over from goole, still no luck, Anyone any idea to try

i know this post is somewhat old. but Making a back up wont take hardly and extra time! always always make one unless you have 100% reliable roms already backed up.
So my phone was @ EL29. I decided that when I was updating from CM9-alpha3 to CM9-alpha4 that I'd also go ahead and update my modem. I updated CM9, and it rebooted fine and was still working.
Went back and Odin'd the FE16 modem, and it rebooted. Once it booted up, I got a 'Activate your phone' page stating "A special call needs to be made to activate your phone service. After pressing 'Activate'... " but this doesn't work (The number or code you dialed is incorrect.)
From what I can tell, this is because ICS doesn't support the ## dialer codes? I did some searching, but couldn't come up with much. I found this post in the modem thread, which links to a "multiboot" ROM for the Epic 4G (not the Touch) that boots a stock ROM off the SD Card and doesn't affect the current running ROM, which lets you do things like Update PRL / Update Profile / etc.
Is there anything like that for the E4GT? Or am I going to have to wipe, go back to GB, re-activate/update profile/update prl on stock, wipe again and go back to CM9?
Another option is to program your phone through QPST, but you might find that to be just as troublesome as flashing back to stock.
A quick search pointed me to this thread for QPST. Doesn't seem too terribly difficult (except that I'm on a Linux box, might have to do some fun VirtualBox emulation to get it working on a Windows VM).
Technically I lied when I said I flashed the stuff using Odin... actually used heimdall, but it does the same thing.
What's funny is my data is working 3G/4G with no problem. If I try to place a call, it immediately hangs up. Trying ##72786# gives a recording that "Your phone is not yet activated. To activate, press end and call customer service"
Service is through ting (who uses Sprint's network)

i actually had something like this happen about a week or two ago. I used heimdall on my mac to flash a new modem while on an AOSP rom, and was told I had to activate the phone. I couldn't figure out anything to do except restore a TW backup and activate then restore back to my current AOSP setup. I never experienced having a modem flash de-activate the phone, but this was the only time i ever used heimdall, usually use Odin on windows.
Odin back to a stock ROM using a one click, Odin a stock modem of your choice and check clear phone efs, and boot up and allow it to reactivate.

First I tried extracting the packages from the OdinOneClick to use heimdall to flash it back to stock. Ended up in a bootloop on the Spring 4G screen. Brought up a Win7 box and used the oneclick on Windows to get back to stock. Reactivated, reflashed the FE16 modem. Now back to CM9 I go.. oh well, all fixed
Thanks ya'll

Good going JLM!
Btw Revamper, I think any of the one-click flashes both the stock modem and kernel along with the rom so you don't necessarily have to flash a modem right away.
Edit: Also, what's the 'clear phone efs'?

It does but you can't clear phone EFS. that clears all sprint data and forces your phone to activate again.

Did you do a full restore or a data preserve?
Edit; if you did a data preserve, your phone will act funny when coming from a ROM. You should do a FE16 full restore if you haven't already, it will reset all your phone settings to factory, but it's the best option when coming from a ROM.

If you're worried about modem speed, FE16 to me is the best modem since FC18.
Sprint Galaxy Nexus
4.2.1
Not rooted
I performed a factory reset on my phone yesterday due to it bogging down and being rather slow. I never did a reset after getting the 4.2.1 update so I figured it was a good time. I woke up this morning, putzed around the house, and setup Tasker again. I laid my phone down for ten minutes while I got ready for work. Whenever I tried to wake my phone and nothing happened. I tried a few more times and the screen would not wake up. I pulled the battery, hard reset, reinserted battery and the phone wouldn't turn on. Then, I wiped the contact terminals (on the battery and the phone) and reinserted the battery and the phone booted up. However, since then I have had some major problems.
1. Power button does not always work properly. I have to press it several times to sleep or wake the phone. (Okay, not major, just inconvenient and probably unrelated to the issues below)
2. No data connection whatsoever.
3. In the data usage menu, there is no longer a data toggle switch.
4. Under the Network Mode option, LTE/CDMA produces absolutely no cell signal whatsoever. I have to switch to CDMA only. (WiFi works fine)
5. Toggling airplane mode, as some have suggested, does not cause the phone to connect to mobile data. Another factory reset did not restore mobile data. Rebooting did not restore mobile data.
6. All of these problems are true before and after factory reset. No new problems were created and nothing was exacerbated as a result of performing a factory reset.
I've been from one end of the internet to another looking for solutions to this problem and I have found that many are having a similar issue but toggling airplane mode or rebooting fixes it. Not the case for me. Most also seem to be having this problem after rooting. Again, not the case for me.
Any suggestions? I would prefer to not return the phone. Purchased from Radioshack and the 30-day warranty has expired. This is my second gnex already, as the first one's charging port broke. It took over a week to get this one from another store which graciously shipped it in to my store. There's also the issue of being broke and not really being able to afford another $30 activation fee on top of the deductible for a new phone.
Why not try reflashing the stock image and updating again to 4.2.1?

Excellent. I will give it a shot at some point today or tomorrow and then let you know how it worked out. Thanks!
So, I restored the phone to stock. Signal is still non-existent on LTE/CDMA mode. Cannot perform Profile or PRL updates. Still no mobile data. I'm guessing hardware failure?
Also, on setup it asks for a SIM card. And at the bottom of the drop-down menu, it says "No SIM card|Sprint" or "No SIM card|No Service" depending on if I am in CDMA or LTE/CDMA.
Also, in the Status menu:
My phone number
Unknown
MIN
Unknown
PRL Version
Unknown
ICCID
Unknown
Seems a little odd to me.
Attempted fully rooting and flashing radios. No luck there either. It's also not wanting to update. Tells me my phone is up-to-date (connected via WiFi). Downloading Cyanogen now to see if it will work in the morning.
And while attempting to flash a new ROM, got the famous "can't copy anything to the device ever, under any circumstances" error.
Update: Got CM10 installed. Still "No SIM" error, no 3G, no data, no LTE. Found some more information on this No SIM error. Apparently a few others have had this same problem and in the end had to get a new phone.
Anyone know anything?
You should a- flash to stock using Odin following posts in sprint sextjon
I've been back to stock twice now. The first thing I did was flash to stock. Then I played around a bit and now I'm back to stock again.
Is there a difference between using Odin and Nexus Root Toolkit to return to stock?

Wow, one day and my thread is buried!
After battling for about a day, I got updated to JB 4.2.1, I can do profile and PRL updates again, but there is still no 3G/mobile data, and I still have zero bars on LTE/CDMA and have to use just CDMA. I am currently stock but the bootloader is unlocked, no root.
If anyone has heard any solution, please help. Also, if there's a difference between flashing to stock with Odin vs NRT, please say so.

Try fastboot flashing your LTE and CDMA radios again. As far as I know, fastboot commands do NOT require root. I had a similar issue.
Edit: link to post with directions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39446679

Indeed, fastboot does not require root. I've flashed my radios several times now in various different ways. I even flashed different versions. I attempted again but with no luck. I have normal service when using CDMA but nothing on LTE/CDMA. Still no data, still "No SIM card" error.
Pretty sure I'll have to get it replaced. I've gone from stock JB back to stock ICS, rooted, CM10, back to stock ICS, rooted, back to stock JB unrooted, and flashed three different radios. I'm surprised I haven't managed to brick it yet.
UPDATE: Sprint is sending me a new phone, for free.
Hey!
I've had my Desire EYE for nearly one year, and have been quite satisfied with it. Earlier in January 2016 I decided to try rooting it, found some custom ROMs, tried those out as well. All seemed to be going well (rom installations all worked great!) until I discovered that any incoming phone calls would go straight to voicemail.
Mobile data still works, send/receive texts works, I can make calls no problem, but nobody can call me outside of a very small window of opportunity: for about ten seconds after I make a call, I can receive a call. After that, it's back to voicemail.
I'll be the first to admit that, while I've got a pretty firm grip on how desktop computers work, mobile electronics are still a bit foreign to me. Here's what I've tried:
Un-rooting and re-rooting
Flashing different custom ROMs
Flashing stock ROM to go back to when things worked
Going to an AT&T store, replacing the SIM card (i'm on my third sim card, no less!)
Calling AT&T support, disabling HD voice
I must be overlooking something, or have misstepped along the way somewhere. What other options should I try to explore? Or, what other details might I need to gather in order to diagnose this issue?
Strange indeed. Sounds more like a config thing than a software/hardware issue.
Have you tried turning mobile Internet off and see what happens? Or maybe manually selecting your carrier so it reapplies its settings?
Are you using a battery saving app like greenify or an xposed module?
For some reason you have something that rejects incoming calls while phone is in stand-by.

Whenever I flash a ROM, I've selected the option to do a full wipe. A few times, I've done that without restoring the backup from Google Play just in case some app was messing things up without me knowing.
A lot of the custom ROMs here have an option to install xposed, and I've always chosen to do that. Now that you mention it, I have no idea what xposed module is or does.
Also, when "configuring" Android after a fresh install, it asks me what my carrier is and I've specified AT&T. Is there another way to do this?
Edit:
Loosely related question: what would happen if I were to obtain someone else's "backup" and restore it to my device through TWRP? Do those backups affect configuration, as you suspected?
You could choose to full wipe from twrp instead of aroma. Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache and then flash your rom. It won't hurt and it might make a difference.
Xposed is a "platform" that allows you to modify and customize your device to your liking by installing different modules. I haven't had a great experience with it on marshmallow so I stopped using it. You could try not installing it and see if it helps.
To manually configure your carrier go to settings, mobile data. From there either set operator to automatic or choose AT&T.
When you restore a backup you are restoring settings, apps, sms, everything. That's why I suggested you to find a stock backup for your device and see if it changes anything.
I'd try all that from above and see if it makes any difference.
Next step would be a RUU, but before doing it I would try and see.
It's volte problem from att.
2 solutions. s off and flash international ruu or call att to deactivate the volte figure.
That's what I did, call them.
at&t was being more complicated than needed since i am under my parents phone line. i plan to just flash back to stock rom instead of going through all this trouble
