[Q] Can't retrieve backup from Kies? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I have flashed several Roms and when I go to Kies to retrieve my messages and phone logs it doesn't seem to connect. Is there another way to get this information back on my phone after a full system wipe? I really like the JB Roms but no use if I cant get the data back. Oh by the way I am on T-mobile and have a GS III rooted. thanks for any support on this issue in advance.

[Q] Unable to receive calls after CM7?

Hi guys, I have tried to search for a thread on this but wasn't able to find one.
So after installing the latest CM 7, for some reason my phone has been unable to receive calls. I can *MAKE* calls perfectly fine, but zero calls are coming in. Wifi and GPS both work fine. I notice the 3G/service bars do work, but go blank for long periods of time sometimes too.
I've wiped all data dozens of times, did a nandroid restore back to Myn's RLS3, flashed radios again, wiped again... still unable to receive calls. I've tried to update profile and PRL at each step of wiping, but nothing works.
Now, I'm on the latest stock rooted ROM. Do I need to un-root and take this back to the store?
Anyone have this happen to them? I would really prefer not to have to go to Sprint...
In case anyone else has this issue in the future: a quick trip to the Sprint store fixed my problem. They said all they did was a hard reset, but I think it was more complicated than that. I didn't have access to a land line, but in the future I'm going to try to do it with customer service over the phone.
Thanks for all the (non-existent) help XDA.

[Q] Can't Receive Texts with Custom Rom

I have had this problem before, with no clear resolution, but I think I have narrowed down the circumstances.
When I am running stock or stock rooted, I have full sms capability. When I flash a ROM, I lose it. I have had full capability on it with custom ROM's but not anymore. Sprint told me it's probably a network thing, update prl, profile etc.. That doesn't work.
I always use Calkulin's format all tool and I always stick with Gingerbread ROM's.
I do no use GVoice, at all and I refuse to. The one time I tried, and it allowed me to receive texts but phone calls wouldn't work.
I found this thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284092 --- but it gives me FC's and I think I even lost root with it. It didn't solve my problem so I flashed after 5 minutes with in.
Any suggestions?
Personally what I would do is one click Odin back to stock el29. Odin a modem of your choice with clear phone efs checked, and allow it to reactivate with Sprint. Then try a ROM again after updating profile. Do it at your own risk of course. Clear phone efs wipes your nvram. NVRAM contains lots of low-level settings for your phone, including your Sprint phone #, Sprint data login, etc. It reactivated fine for me but SFhub said that it didn't work for someone else. Good luck.

See if you can get into recovery, if you can then reflash the rom and see if that helps

Lose ability to connect to Sprint when updating to 4.2.2

Hi,
I'm running on MC2 and whenever I update to any 4.2.2 rom (tried at least 3 of them) I lose service.
When updated to 4.2.2, going into "about" shows IMEI and all the phone settings as UNKNOWN.
When I flash back to MC2 then my service works.
I've tried doing NVBACKUP in MC2 where my service works, and then doing NVRESTORE in 4.2.2, but that doesn't work either.
Please help, as I would love to be on 4.2.2 and I can't find a fix for this anywhere.
Thanks

Hey Guys,
you might run into this problem if you flash ROMs meant for different carriers' Note IIs

[Q] How to enable network data after installing Cyanogenmod CM11 M7?

I tried flashing a custom ROM for the first time last night and so far I am really loving it. The only problem is, after flashing the CM11 M7 ROM it wont access any data over the cell network. I did figure out that if using Titanium Backup I restore my stock ROMs 4.3 data only from the Phone/Messaging Storage (SMS/MMS/APN) then reboot the network data does work. However, this causes the SMS to cease functioning. As soon as any app (default messenger, hangouts, 2-3 others I tried from store) tries to open it immediately crashes. Interestingly, it also will not allow me to restore my SMS records using Super Backup at this point. If I go back into Titanium backup then wipe the data for this process then the SMS starts working again, but all the old messages have been cleared, and as soon as I restart the phone the Network data is not working again.
Any ideas on what to do? I am wondering if maybe I need to adjust something in my APN profile, though I have absolutely no idea where I would get the information to do this.
This is what I am working with:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 i747 (AT&T) -- [though currently I am using a TIGO sim card in Guatemala, wonder if this could have anything to do with it? was not a problem prior to switching the ROM though]
ROM: cm-11-20140608-SNAPSHOT-M7-d2lte.zip , the Cyanogenmod CM11 Snapshot lte release from yesterday
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: I747UCUEMJB
Kernel Version: 3.4.91-cyanogenmod-g9b9605b8 [email protected] #1
Anyways, only having one or the other of my network data vs sms working is not really an option for me, so need to figure something out.
Thanks!

I apologize in advanced for not answering your question.
Is your issue that you cannot even get a signal with CM installed? I am also having the same issue.
Did your phone get signal/mobile network with the stock ROM? I am unable to find out if mine will work right now because it would take me a few days to download the stock ROM image...
Will be following this thread...
Mike
Have you checked that the APN on your phone is the right one for your carrier? Google search apn tigo guatemala galaxy s3 Many useful results will come up.
Ok here is how this played out. I did just need to reset then re enter the apn info for tigo in Guatemala. I actually managed to pull this info out of my pre flash backup from when I was using the stock Rom, then wipe the data for the process mentioned. This restored sms functionality and I then was able to manually enter the apn info (if anyone needs the Guatemala tigo apn info just post here and I can grab it when I am next at my cpu). I find it interesting that the apn info was automatically present and correct when I was using the stock Rom, but when I flashed cm11 over it was not there.
Just arrived back in the US and popped in my AT&T SIM card, everything worked fine right off the bat with it.
In answer to your question, after flashing cm11 I did have signal, but only for calls and sms. The data component of the network was not recognized.

[Q] second hand i371, trying to Un-root

I apologize if i am not as clear in this post as I need to be. My dad tried to root his note 2 sgh i371 using odin but said that once he did this, he was unable to access the internet outside of connecting to wifi, he could not get any cellular data. Because of this issue, he tried to then un-root his phone by flashing 4.1.2 stock rom. Unfortunately, the issue of not being able to get cellular data persists. In his frustration, my dad bought a note 3 and gave his note 2 to me saying that if I could fix it I could keep it. This is my first android and I would like to make it my primary phone if possible. what I would like to simply to reset the phone to factory default settings by flashing the latest stock rom for the phone. I have Odin, I was hoping that someone could tell me where I could get the latest stock rom and, if they believed that flashing it would fix the cellular data issue. I do not believe my dad made a backup at all. Thank you in advance.
