Yeah it happens to my z1 compact also, even some.times when phone is not heated up. Just lock and unlock.your phone and problem is gone.

Come back to 4.4.2. (757). My compact is same. lastest rom some time have this issue.

Do you have any cover in use and if so, is it magnetic?
Try without cover.

guys , i don't have it no more i was frustrated and sold it very cheap , same with the big z1
now i plan to get s4 or s3 lte, but i am afraid of lag
it's sad that people don't talk much about the touch screen and ignore it, z1 and z1c are very fast phones, faster than galaxy s5 but it's disappointing that the screen is faulty
patoberli, both phones, don't have the asf, after removing it, screen went more crazy, and i had to put another screen protector to minimize the effect
my friend with z3c have similar problem too

just noticed screen issues when unlocking the phone while it's on the table. touch gets all crazy. this doesn't happen when i'm holding it though.

Anyone's touchscreen ever failed??

My desire z is going back for warranty tomorrow ...
The touchscreen and the buttons just under it stopped working without any warning.
Anyone else had similar issues??
Now unrooted with the latest ruu.

When you say it stopped working, did you by any chance have the phone on a worktop? or was you holding it in your hand?
There are reported issues with phones not working all the time when on a worktop, however mine always works when its in my hand.
When my phone is laying flat on any surface the screen just refuses to respond... however if I angle it just slightly it works just fine, or if I pick it up.
I have the same issue when its in the car dock. I didn't have the issue when I was running the stock bell rom this only happened when I installed cyanogen 6.1
My g2's touchscreen gets super lllaagggyyy, like laggy as crap whenever it is connected to the charger @ near full charge. It's random...yet it's not, like for instance..I can put it on the charger and initially it's very responsive. Then, after a few minutes charging the screen *seems* to be unresponsive, I just have to swipe it slowly and it jerks by @ like..5fps seemingly. This has happened on every rom ive tried so far from stock to CM.
Just installed MIUI and haven't had a chance to test..i'm assuming it's hardware related though.
When I First got my G2, The TMo Rep asked me to open it up at the store since i was getting the first one from that store and the touch screen didnt work at all, we turned it off and on and nada. So they replaced it with another one and it worked just fine. Other than that little problem i never had a issue on my G2 as far as touch screen freezing goes
Seems like shoddy hardware to me... I've never dropped the phone.. its always been in a protective cover.
Although I couldn't help thinking.. maybe all the extreme overclocking / general heating up of the phone may have contributed??

I have never OC my desire Z (not G2) but I have noticed the exact same symptoms of an unresponsive touch screen after flashing cyanogen 6.1.
I returned back to my stock rom and everything is back to normal.
I haven't had a problem since..
yes, when its on a worktop (table, desk, anything not my hand) and in a dock -- its not as responsive as you'd expect. I have to hold it and caress it with my warm loving hands to get it to respond.
now ---
this is not related to CM 6.1. at all. Ive flashed a lot of things since visionary and its happened on every single rom.
Id go get that phone out of the mail if I were you OP.
I have also noticed the problem with touch screen responsiveness when my G2 is mounted in a car holder.
I have figured that you just have to keep one finger on the aluminium body and the problem is gone. I have to admit that this is somewhat bizarre and I have never had this problem before with my G1 using the same car holder. Seems that there is an issue with electric isolation? I don't exactly understand how capacitive touchscreen works so can't really explain where the dog lies buried.
Maybe this is a feature. Protection and saves battery.

The same for my DZ - it is kinda weird, because if the phone is for example in the car holder it is impossible to use the touchscreen unless I put another finger on the phones housing. I tried different roms already, but the 'error' is still there.
It would be interesting if all users have the same problem or if it is just a few examples of phones out there.
Thanks,
Robert
Wow,.... only just noticed this a few days ago. Along with it not vibrating on incoming SMS, i'm starting to get slightly ticked off.
yeah happens to mine too =P
happens to mine also, nothing we can do about this?

Galaxy Note 8.0 need advice!

GT-N5110 wifi version. Ive had this device for 10 days. Out the box it was running 4.1.2 and seemed work great other than the occasional 3-5 seconds when screen would become unresponsive during normal use. After using it for a few days I decided to go ahead and update to 4.2.2 thinking maybe it would fix the screen issue. It did fix that issue but now im having another problem. After the device sits dormant for awhile the screen doesnt respond to touch but still works fine with the s pen. Ill turn it on after sitting all night and after swiping to unlock the screen it becomes unresponsive. I usually have to lock/unlock the screen several times before it will start responding. After it starts working I can be on it for hours with no more problems. But if I lock the screen an set it down for awhile when I go to use it again it does the samething. It seems like it has to warm up. I tried doing factory data reset but that didnt help. It is rooted also but the only thing ive done so far is get rid of some bloatware.(i didnt root it untill after the problem started). Anyone have any advice?
Do you have your note in a cover , and if so does it have a magnet.

That does sound rather crazy, the unresponsiveness is out of the ordinary... did you try turning off a lot of the extra features built in by Samsung? another thing you could do is download Clean Master from the play store and take a look at your Ram use-age and clean out some cache files with it, this might help with the lag. The touch response could be hindered due to a case or screen protector... other than that the only thing i could think is if there was physical damage done to it before that could cause the touch screen to act that way.
Ummmm... I would have taken it back to the store and asked for a replacement.
That is not normal at all. even with the device's settings left alone, there should not be any issues with responses with touch.
Note... The pen feature is totally separate from touch. The screen has two different features, one being a digitizer for the pen function the other for touch. It is possible that during assembly that the connection for the touch screen is faulty, as a bad solder joint during wave process could make the connection heat related. As the device cools, the contacts contract causing a fault with touch operation. When heated up from normal use, expansion forces contact between connector and board for normal operation to function with touchscreen.

The problem was my samsung book cover! Can't believe samsung would make a cover that causes these kinds of issues. Glad I only paid 7 bucks on ebay instead of 50 at best buy. Thanks guys for the comments!

Thanks for the FYI. I was using the moko whatever with a keyboard and I got the freezes all the time. I was thinking about the official Samsung one but if that gives you problems then forget it. I almost sold this thing on eBay cause I couldn't take the freezes anymore. Now I use a tpu case with it and couldn't be happier

Touchscreen Input Issues

Hey, had my Z1 Compact for a week now and I've noticed a very annoying issue where sometimes when using the touchscreen to drag, say for predicitive text, the drag line will stop and then restart after missing some of the screen. This is results in having to retype a lot of text, and also requires multiple attempts to unlock the phone with a pattern.
I've replicated this in Settings --> About phone --> Diagnostics --> Test Device --> Touchscreen.
Basically if I keep trying to draw a 4 on screen for example, maybe 2/10 times it will miss part of the drawing. This isn't always the same part, so I dont think it's a dead section of screen.
Anyone else had this problem? Any solutions? BTW I've not put any screen protectors on yet, not even the one in the box as it looks like thats just a replacement for the factory fitted one.
Cheers
Many users are having this problem including me. I have faced this issue just once so I am waiting to get the issue again before going to service centre.. This problem is common in micromax and sony devices.. And from my previous experience I can clearly tell that this is hardware problem.. Dont know how some people told it software issue.. Day by day this problem will increase and soon the screen will be unusable.. I can say that charger may have some relation with this because in my previous micromax the problem started while charger is plugged in and after some days the problem began without charger..

Good point about charging. I have experienced this with previous phones whilst plugged into a cheap charger. I put it down to the charger not being powerful enough. In the instance I mention above, the battery is fully charged and not plugged into the charger. Plus the only charger I've used so far with it was the official one in the box.

You might wanna use some other charger I haven't actually faced this problem more tab once cause I've used the original charger only a few times N it's in best interest to use a lower output rated charger might take longer, but it's best for the phone N it's battery

I dont think the charger is the issue as it happens when it's not connected to the charger and it's been rebooted since. This is a different issue to what I talked about with previous phones and cheap charges whilst actually charging.
I've searched the net and it looks like a fairly common issue with some Z1s and Z1 Compacts:
http://johnhaller.com/blog/2014-03-06--sony-xperia-z1-z1s-touch-screen-issue
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1-Compact/Touchscreen-loosing-touch-issue/td-p/580111
It sounds like the Z1C can come with 1 of 2 different screens, and only one of them suffers from this problem. Also, if you dont use swipe unlock or swype text then you probably wouldnt have noticed it anyway.
Reading all the comments, it's hoped that a firmware update will fix this, but no confirmation from Sony if they will do this and when.
The place where I got my phone from has offered to replace it so I'll take my chance with another one and hope it's from a different batch that doesnt suffer this! Awesome phone, but having swipe unlock and swype text nearly unusable is a major issue.

Siftware update cant fix hardware defect.. And this problem is not only common in xperia devices but also in micromax devices.. I dont know how can people say a softwarw update can fix this.. And I can bet this problem will get worse day by day.. I have already faced same issue in a micromax canvas 3D and the screen got unusable within 3 months..

weird mine works perfectly, i got AUO panel.. may i know whats yours?
For those which dont have this problem, have you got a screenprotector on it? If so, is it the one out the box or a third party one?
I haven't put a screen protector on mine, just wondering if that would somehow help.

Try activating Pointer Location in Developer Options
I have tried activating Pointer Location in Developer Options since I also sense some sort of problem with screen input like touch being jumpy at times.
When swiping with two fingers, everything seems fine as long as they are far enough. If my two fingers are very close and swipe the screen most of the time, one finger's Pointer Location would break at some point and continue. Can anyone confirm if this is normal? Would like to have a screenshot of this but Pointer track would be lost.
I have an AUO screen by the way, Thanks guys!
So I've had a little test tonight.
Tried finding what screen type I have but it complained about permissions when trying to access the file, it's been mentioned on another thread that access to this was locked on some update. So no idea which panel I have.
Anyway, used PC Companion to Repair the Phone and go back to factory settings. Build number showing as 14.3.A.0.757. Android version 4.4.2.
Ran an update but it says it's already the latest.
With a naked screen (except for the factory fitted anti-shatter film) ran through the touchscreen diagnostic multiple times, and nearly every other test I had a missing part of a swipe.
I put the temporary protective film back on (which came on it already with the little pull tab on the corner, the one that's not fully see-through) and ran through the diagnostic test, and this time I couldn't get a swipe to miss. They were all good!
Took the temporary film off, tried again and it missed bits again. Temporary film back on, re-tests and no missing bits. This may just be a crazy coincidence, but it looks like having a screen protector on fixes this. If you have this problem, give it a try. If it's still problematic, maybe try another screen protector or if you still have that temporary one try the tests a few times with that on.
I've had touchscreen issues for some time now, even with a screen protector on. But since I flashed doomlord's kernel some days ago, everything is fine. I don't know if there are even changes compared to the original kernel, but for me, it worked. Swiping this posting would have been impossible before.

[Q] Touchscreen behaving weird

Hello guys,
i have a problem with my xperia s. It's always giving me random touch inputs when i unlock the phone on the right side of the screen.
This video is a good example of what's my xperia's problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQwZMlMdICg
This guy's problem is that it gives random touch inputs on the left side and i have exactly the same problem but on the right side of the screen. I've been trying to fix this problem but it won't stop. I've removed my custom rom and i flashed a fully stock rom with flashtool.
i've searched it up on the internet and i saw that i might be a battery problem that gives a impact to the touchscreen.
So i removed the battery and placed it back again. I saw no changes and this problem still exist. i also removed my screenprotector. And cleaned the whole screen. ( i don't have any scratches. ).
the only sort of SOLUTION to make the phone useable.. (not to stop the touchscreen bug). Is when i lock the phone. And before i unlock the phone i touch the upper side of the screen. and then i unlock it. the touchscreen will freak out for a second but after that it i'll be completely fine to use for about 10 minutes. After about 10m i'll see my touchscreen put some random inputs and touching some apps. (on the right side of the screen). There are many other threads about this problem with the only solutions: Replace battery, Use the original sony charger. Iam was not using a sony charger for months and iam using it yesterday for the first time in months. I noticed that when the charger is in the phone the phone becomes completely normal and when i plug it out the same problem happens again.
My phone doesn't have a warany anymore i bought it when it was new back in 2012. And i still love it but the touchscreen makes it sometimes soo frustrating and unusable. And if i want to fix the touchscreen it'll cost me around €150, because they are very rare here in my country. i rather double that money and buy a nexus 5 for 330,-. So my question is there any possible fix? Sorry for the long post tho.

Weird Screen Behavior and now totally Unusable, Need HELP!!

Hello Friends,
Three month ago my nexus 5x touch screen started to work awkwardly, sometimes its perfect and sometimes it doesn't work at all until number of locking and unlocking the phone it would work again, until yesterday the screen suddenly rotated upside down!! and then purple flashes then nothing at all, not even google logo just white or purple screen.
So I want to make sure its a screen replacement issue and not a motherboard issue, and where can I buy an affordable one that ships internationally.
thank you guys in advance.
P.S: screen used to work perfectly in recovery before the purple thing.
And If it is as I expect a Hardware issue. I'm out of warranty or a repair point where I live, Do you think buying a new screen frame will fix it for sure or it might be another hardware failure?
Anybody??!!
Did your phone water damaged? I have the same issue but some water was poured on my phone 2 months ago. Now I am waiting for my replacement screen.
