[Q] Root for Galaxy Tab S T-807A - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone seen any info on rooting the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 T-807A?

There are rooting and recovery solutions for both snapdragon and exynos versions. As long as you don't have a locked boot loader just use whichever one is appropriate.

Thanks for your help, can you give me some direction on where to find the rooting instruction?

I believe you are exynos, so the t800 methods should work for you.

[Q] Unlock N5100 Bootloader

Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before, I have searched the forums and google but not found the specific answer for the N5100. There are so many warnings about flashing a custom ROM without an unlocked bootloader and how it will brick your device that I haven't flashed one yet. My question is, is it absolutely necessary to unlock the bootloader and if so, how can I do it? There are no links to N5100 specific tools to unlock it and I can't find a way using any of the toolkits or utilities. There are custom ROMs available for the N5100 so people must be flashing them, right? If so, how did they unlock their bootloaders?
Thanks,
Coj

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I also used this to root the device. Does it also unlock the bootloader as it roots? It didn't explicitly say so, I thought they were two separate things I had to do. Is there any way I can check if my bootloader is unlocked?
this is the device information shown in toolkit, it suggests the bootloader is still locked. Is it?

I didn't have to do anything except CF AutoRoot then flash the recovery. However, I have a 5110 so hopefully someone here can validate for you just in case.

OK, so I took a punt and flashed knowing that I could brick my device but lack of specific info prompted me into it. It worked and I'm glad to say and I'm now running a nice custom ROM. One more question, is there a repository for stock apps on here?

Is it possible to unlock SM-P605V Galaxy note 10.1 Verizon?

I wanted to unlock the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 from Verizon but see no where can do it?
Please let me know if you have one
I have one and we weren't able to unlock with 4.3. I am curious whether anything changed under KK... but AFAIK... The answer is no.

Just root and flash a custom ROM from here.

Just root and flash a custom ROM from here. I have never heard that you can NOT root a carrier specific device. I bought a T-Mobile version of P-605 from Germany and I unlocked it by rooting and flashing a custom ROM.
Cheers,
Halldor

The bootloader is locked. The current CF auto root methods do not work. Odin fails. At least they didn't before. If I am wrong please let me know.

Have you tried all methods? If nothing works then maybe you need to wait until someone cracks it? I have always been able to un-brand carrier specific devices.
Cheers,
Halldor
I even tried the shady apps

lol I genuinely appreciate your reckless testing. I'm not familiar enough with the process to be hopeful or hopeless about the future for dev on vzw bootloader shenanigans. I willingly let vroot attempt to get access on my vzw note 3, fail, then asked kingo to violate the sanctuary before getting it right. There's many people who know a LOT more than me who will swear up and down about risks being benign but I think it's undeniable the entire process is more than unsanitary.
I wouldn't sell my soul to the devil for root/vstrap on this device but then again... he has yet to make an offer.

I need more info about rooting

I need some more information about rooting a phone. Yes, used to have my HTC One X rooted and I was able to customize everything but what are some of the distavantages of rooting my phone. For example, releasing the warranty...
Thanks,
Do you have the retail model or developer edition?

I once came across an app that would not even boot because it had detected that my phone had been rooted, when I had my DROID RAZR MAXX (XT-912). I just Googled it, though and found an APK file that was the same app, but hacked to avoid root checking. That's really the only disadvantage I can think of to rooting.

Question on TWRP

Does TWRP work on a rooted, but locked bootloader, Verizon G4?
If so, should I select just the G4 International model when installing?
Thanks guys

Please don't try/do any thing of that sort... Short answer is no. With the status of the bootloader atm, a custom recovery (TWRP, clockworkmod etc) is not possible. Flashfire is about as close as it gets now, and from the sounds of it, you're probably going to want to do a bit more research before you go flashing...

Is A320FL with android 8.0 rootable?

Just as title says, I understand how to do the guides but they are for android 7 while mine is 8.0.0. One guide is telling me to download android 7 and flash it, then flash TWRP. Another guide is about rooting with cf autoroot but is again for android nougat and i am not sure whether i can still root with it through odin. Anyone help?

Try with this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...w-to/guide-root-install-twrp-samsung-t3747535
I have a A320FL too since August, Updated to Oreo at first boot and rooted following that thread.
You just have to be quick after flashing TWRP the first time and reboot in Recovery, you need to do it fast whereas it boots on system and you'll have to flash TWRP again

But is this "lock" the guide talks about present in the a320fl because i don't know whether i should bother with the rmm unlock zip file? And what is "root zip" referring to in the guide you posted?

What is "root zip" supposed to be then? SuperSu or magisk?

You can do either one. I would probably do magisk, because it is systemless, but it is a bit more buggy. But you can get quite a few modules that work with it.

I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy A320FL with Oreo using the procedure linked below. I wrote it trying to refer to updated files and apps (december 2020), as the other guides available are rather old.
Note that I also managed to fix fingerprint feature and banking apps and to move whatsapp media folder to SD card.
Here is how I did:
How to root Samsung A3 (2017) - Guide
I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy A320FL following more or less this guide (I know, it's a video and that's annoying, but it's also very clear. And there is a text version linked in description), with some modifications though. I will...

Hope this helps, it took a lot of time to me to retrieve all the information, so I hope that the linked guide will be useful for someone!
