Hi Guys
apologies if this is a duplicate post
my missus dropped her G3 earlier while getting out the car, and the display went off, now all that shows is a blue and green blinking LED indicator.
we have taken the battery out, etc and nothing will come on
now she has alot of pictures, etc of our little girl and we dont want to lose the data.
is there anyway to recover anything? iv plugged it into my laptop and it installs the drivers however cant pickup the phone being connected.
I have been told the fault is a hardware issue and to take it to an 02 shop.
We would really like to recover data first.
Thanks for your help

If the pics where saved on your external SD card then you can remove the sdcard and insert the card into an sdcard reader and connect it to your laptop/pc.. if you didn't save it to the sdcard then the best and only option is to send it to an After Sales department and ask them to recover the pics.. data recovery comes with a huge price!!! Good luck mate! :good:
Thanks
Hi Guys,
thanks for your replies, looking at the forums this issue is basically a problem with the screen, so I'm hoping that 02 can replace the screen whilst leaving the memory intact, the missus is going to the 02 shop this morning. The phone is less than 6 months old so we are hoping it wont cost too much to fix. I did say to her not to mention she dropped it (i know this is cheeky) however it is a known issue with the LG G3 this blue and green indicator flashing. I will let you guys know how she gets on
Update
Well all good news chaps, Missus took it to the 02 store and they have backed up all her data for free as she was under warranty and replaced the handset.
Reading on various forums, this is apparently a known issue with the LG G3. Needless to say I am buying her an indestructible case for the phone

Sadly I jumped the gun, the guy in the 02 store has had a go at trying to restore the data and has failed miserably.
I found this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786395
I wonder if some tech genius from the site wouldnt mind giving me hand at all?

I have the o2 xda orbit and I never tried to modify it (change firmware, rom etc) or upgrade to WM6. Everything is original the way that it came. I have been using the orbit for about 6 months now and I had bought it off ebay.
Just yesterday I was chargin the orbit through the usb cable and I removed it since i had to go out and i just put it in my jeans pocket and after 5 min when i took it out there was a blank white screen. I took the battery out overnight and turned it on in the morning but still the same thing happens. The images below show exactly what shows up on my screen
I dont know what to do The minute i turn it on that is the only screen i see. No windows logo nothing. I removed the sim card and memory card. But still no luck. Can i change it through warranty eventhough I live in Canada? ANy help is appreciated!! I would be glad to give more information to you if I can.
If you know of any other forums where i can get better help, please let me know.
Switch it on but hold in the voice record button when you do it, do you get a Red/Green/Blue screen?
Maybe, it saw a ghost?

nope same blank white screen with a line in the middle.
Looks like a serious hardware death there. Did you buy it off an ebay shop or private? If from a shop you may be able to make a warranty claim, if not you'd have to post it to a repair centre and cross your fingers.
I am presuming here that you have tried a Hard Reset too, ie holding down both softkeys whilst resetting, then releasing the softkeys when you get a confirmation message.
if i press the reset button nothing happens. Orbit only responds to the power button. I bought it off ebay and hence the problem. Do you think it is only a screen malfunction and if i buy a replacement screen I should be able to solve the problem? is it easy to replace the screen by myself?
I DONT KNOW IF IT'S WORK for you BUT... I work in a big shop where a lot of clients buy differents models from Htc and, 2 months ago, somebody have the same problem (with 2 lines) WITH a Tytn. We have flashing his tytn with the original rom and the problem has gone !
Have you try to make a connection with you pc ??? If activsync work...(maybe the bootloader work and ... of course, you can't see if the htc is running because you screen d'ont work for the moment)... you have nothing to loose if you try... If activsync dont work, try to put a original signed rom from htc to the root directory of your microsdcard and follow this tread from the xda-wiki section : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_SD_Card_Flashing
REALLY, I'M NOT A PROFESSIONAL BUT I REALLY THINK THIS IS MADE BY SOMETHING WRONG (FOR ANY RAISON) IN YOUR ROOT DIRECTORY AND THE SCREEN CAN'T WORK NORMALLY... oF IT'S MEABY DUE TO A BAD CONTACT BEETWEEN YOU SCREEN AND THE "MOTHERBOARD" FROM THE PDA.
I HOPE THIS CAN HELP YOU.

Could you give me step by step instructions on flashing the xda orbit rom. Out of frusturation i tried updating the orbit to WM6 and it successfuly updated according to message on my computer screen. So i have wm6 on my phone now but still the same problem.
I exctacted the file and put it in the root of my sd card and pressed the voice button and power button. Now how do i know that the ROM is being flashed? (since i just see the white screen). Even for the orbit should i just name the file on the microsd card as ARTEIMG.nbh ?
Thanks for all your help..but since i am new to this could you please explain teh process in more simpler terms?
Thanks again

Sorry to tell you dear friend but your LCD is cracked, you can see it very clearly on the first picture, bottom right hand corner.
simple way to test if true is to connect to the pc and see if its recognised.
sorry to give you some bad news.

i dont mind the bad news. So if i just buy a replacement lcd from ebay would that work? How hard is it to replace LCD? Is it something that i can do by myself? What should i be buying THIS OR THIS. You guys know of any other cheap places where i can buy lcd screen? My computer does recognise the orbit once i connect it to the computer and activesync successfuly completes the operation. So i am guessin there is something wrong with the lcd screen.
If You Put Out Your Battery More Than 30 Second, It Make The Same ?? And In The Same Place???
NOW YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOOSE... if is it the screen, you must change it...
But before, try to flash one more time your artemis with the original wm5 and, for sure, begin to make it supercid before (so you are sure you dont make a second problem !).
The client with a same problem (but not with the little trace at the right side from your screen) is happy now ! Play also a littlebit to make hardreset, softreset, usb bootloadermode ... And maybe you will see the color coming back!
I said one more time, i am not a professional for this problem but, "still trying" is never bad.... And for the screen... if you command him, you must waiting... so... try it first and if you have no more solution to try, send the pdaphone to htc... And if it's the screen, pay the replacement to htc and dont make it you self ( ebay?? are you sure 100 % the screen you buy its working???!!!??? ).
Yeah, if your computer recognises it, it'll just need a new screen.

Ok, first bit, there is a section on this forum on linking where to buy a lcd with touch screen, and there is also a guy who has done this, you can read up on it, but it will take you some time and hours removing the covers ( trying not to damage them ) and also hours of painfull cleaning, dust is the worst thing you could ever imagine,as soon as that nice lcd comes out of the package you will have dust all over it and once you have the phone back together the smallest amount of dust trapped inside will drive you crazy.
The best action for you to do would be to send it off for repair, in the end you will have your phone fully working.
the price of the replacement LCD is around 80 Euro's + sending cost.
the price you have to look into for a repair could be double.
but look into this carefully and ask yourself these questions.
1. Have you ever done this before.
2. Do you have the right tools.
3. Do you have a lot of paitience.
4. Is it worth doing it yourself and causing more damage to the phone ?
if you cannot say yes to all of these points that the solution is to send it off to repair.
hope this helps.
Regards.

i've just sent you a pm! please check
Does anyone know, where can it be send for repair to?
I have a bricked phone (even bootloader is not started).
And it was bought at eBay, so no any warranty or so.
This is XDA Orbit and I'm in Austria, where O2 has no representation.
Could you, please, advice the companies/possibilities to reapir it (chip change or direct reflashing - not via USB).

Thanks for letting me know..i though it was a pretty simple thing to do by myself. But now I definitely dont want to take that chance. I will shop around for some local cell repair shop. But since this phone is not available in canada I dont know where to go. Does anyone know of a repair shop in Toronto?
I would think the quickest turnaround would be throught HTCamerica. Its located in Houston Tx...
http://www.america.htc.com/support/service-repairs.html
thats just my two cents, turnaround time is like 5 to 7 days after receipt... if they service your phone, they do p3300, you would have to call to find out

This happened to mine too,and screen was not broken.Working internally but white 'screen of death' showing.Sent back to 02 but no mention of fault on return.I think rom suffers corruption since it was after x close, fix.Not sure though!
Hi there,
I dropped my DHD about 6 months ago, and roughly 3 months ago it stopped working completely (I've already replaced the device with an O2X). I didn't root it or do any flashing/recovery business, but now it vibrates 7 times and doesn't turn on.
What happens:
Plug in USB, press power, vibrates 7 times and nothing happens. Orange LED flashes.
I've tried vol down + power, nothing happens.
I heard it's a motherboard error, which got me thinking.. maybe I should just sell it for parts? (The warranty is void since I dropped it and the screen is cracked).
My only concern before I sell it is:
If I sell it for parts, it will have my contacts and any other info that was not on my SD card. My contacts are not particularly important if someone were to recover them, and my google account is secured with a new password (so they cant use market or email or anything).
Would it be safer to pull it apart and remove the internal storage and sell it then?
ALSO: is it recoverable by any last effort things (like smartflash or something)? I haven't tried anything.
Thanks and sorry for all the questions!
Well sounds like it is dead n no hope to come back alive. If you sell it you could takke the internal memory out if it makes you feel safer other than that it is up to you

Anyone know where the internal storage is? Lol, I'm going to look around on youtube and stuff for a take apart video.
Nevermind, I don't have a t5 screwdriver and can't be bothered buying one. I'll just sell it for parts and hope the new owner doesn't use the small amounts of info on it for anything bad.
Hey all, I'm having some trouble here. My best friend past away in a car accident a month ago, 5 hours away from his place. His mother and I would like to know what he was doing out there in the first place. The Coroner gave her the phone, and since I'm in IT, she gave it to me. So far I can access photos, videos, etc, but the screen is completely smashed. part of the display itself (under the glass) is missing. Here's my other problem, I don't know his passcode, even if I did acquire an old phone and did a parts swap. Windows is not detecting the phone as a phone (probably cause I havent put his passcode in), but detects it as a removable storage device. so far, I can't find an app for PC that will detect the phone in this state, and I need to pull the SMS/MMS data off of the phone, and everything else. The phone is NOT rooted. His mom trusted me to do this for her, and so far all I've gotten are the photos and voice recordings. Can anyone help me out?

I feel sorry for your loss. You and his mom have my condolences.. If his mom does not know the passcode then there is only limted help we can offer. I am not saying it can't be done.
It is XDA Policy to not post instructions on unlocking phones with passcodes. So I apologize I can't help any further.
There are threads that detail how to do this. Can't say for sure they are all still there, but I have seen them.
I've seen some that tell how to get around the screen lock passcode/password, and some that detail how to pull all data from a device with a broken screen for backup before sending it for repair.
I too, am very sorry to hear about your loss..... I will keep you in my prayers and hope you may find the strength and closure you need to get through such a difficult tragedy...

Last week, before going to sleep, I put my s3 phone to charge before going to class. When i woke up in the morning i knew something was wrong because my alarm never rang.
Because i live in india now, I first called samsung and they told me I would have to pay 70$ just to ship it to texas center and then have to pay whatever the cost is to fix the problem.
Naturally, I took it to a mobile repair shop down the road. They first said my phone had some boot problem. After a week they said nothing could be done and that the motherboard is fried.
Here are the problems.. When i woke up, the phone was off and the charging light wasnt even showing. I kept trying to turn thr phone on and it tuened on once all the way to the samsung logo and sound and then shut off again. After that, it hasnt turned on since. Boot menu doesnr work. Download menu also doesnt work.
It doesnt turn on but the charging light shows uo when i insert thr charging cable.
What do you guys think? What should i do? Is my motherboard really fried? Should i try to find a new motherboard on amazon and try setting it up myself? I dont think my warranty is still active with at&t if that makes any difference.
Looking forward to any help,thanks.
Plug into a computer and check device manager. If it says qhsusb_dload or something similar it may just be bricked. If so try the debrick method in this section. Worth a shot before spending money on it.

After I plug into the computer..nothing happens.
Ill try again after i get home.
The phone is rooted. Though i havnt updated it in a very long time.
Also i should mention that sometimes the red charging light comes on and sometimes it doesnt. Also when i connected it to a different computer it showed a message rhat something failed to download.
Which charging adapter did you use? Was it the stock samsung adapter or an aftermarket one?
so after plugging in the phone to the computer, I tried to look for anything in the device manager, however have come up empty handed.
So, its safe to assume, its not bricked (as that is semi-reversible).
And that the phone is most likely motherboard fried...which sucks and means I have to get a new phone.
Is there anyway to extract the information from internal storage? like documents and pdfs and possibly notes? Or is that option not available aswell?
I am thinking it is a hardware failure at this point. I would say to check the USB port as those to tend to get damaged sometimes, but you took it to a shop already and they should've noticed it if that were the case. These devices are getting old though, and I've been seeing more and more hw failures lately, so considering all that you said in the op, what the shop told you and what has been discussed here I am thinking that will be the most likely conclusion.
As for getting your data back, I kind of doubt it will be possible. If a shop can't get to it with special equipment and programs, you won't be able to do much more on your own. If its very important/valuable data, you could always try a professional data recovery service, but you're probably going to pay a good bit for that.
I am sorry that this happened and that I can't be any better help to you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. And feel free to ask for a second opinion. Its always possible I could've overlooked something.

Have you tried a fully charged different battery. You're USB port could be bad not allowing your battery to charge or connect to the computer. If this is the case, your battery didn't charge and went dead during the night and it also may not be getting power from the computer when plugged in. With another battery you might power up and retrieve your data.
S3 motherboard replacement
Hi guys,
I hope somebody here can be of any help. my i9300 (s3) got fried while charging last month. while i was planning to dispose the phone. due i cannot use it anymore and i bought one for good which currently in use, my co-worker just broke the screen of His phone too (s3), fortunately,he agreed to give me his and ask a friend of mine to replaced the motherboard on my s3 with the one from my co-workers phone. the replacement proceeded successfully but upon testing any sim card does not work. it display it has a coverage bar signal, but the notification on top says no sim card.
anybody who would share a thought about what will be the solution is much appreciated!
thanks in Advance
Here's the story.
My note 4 froze on me one day, so I pulled the battery to reset it. I guess I pulled it at the wrong time bc it wouldnt turn on after that. I tried plugging the charger in for 24 hours and the charge light won't even come on.
My wife of 11 years passed away Aug 27th 2015. I have a lot of pictures of her on there that I would really like to have. Borderlining on needing. I called data recovery places ,and they cost like almost 2 grand, and possibly more depending on what they have to do to save it. If there is no other way, I will save up and pay for it. I dont even make alot of money, but that's how important the pics are.
Ive looked into disassembly videos on YouTube for the chance I can find a donor phone and take the internal memory chip into it from mine.
Does anyone know where the internal memory is? I didnt see it in any of the teardown videos I saw.
If anyone has any ideas , please tell me.
Thank you for reading.

Very sorry for your loss. Something like this probably makes it all the more difficult. Your best bet is probably to use a professional data recovery service. I've tried to restore data on my phone and have never been able to do so.
Not sure if Samsung could help you or not... But I think you need professional assistance.
Something as precious as this, I don't know what else to say.
Good luck.
It sounds like your phone is in a hard brick state, If it is hard bricked then the good news is that it can be fixed with a unbrick/debrick.img, the bad news is to create a debrick.img you need another working at&t note 4 running lollipop. To check if your phone is indeed hard brick plug it into a computer and open device manager check to see if QHSUSB_BULK driver error
