LG Released it's new flagship the LG G3, The LG G2 last year had problems with the noise cancellation and how the video quality sounded really poor
My question is, What about today how's the G3's Mic
Here's what I'm talking about

Use headphones and you can really hear what I mean
I'm not sure if this was explicitly fixed for the G3, but I can say with quite some certainty I'm not facing any such issues. Mic seems to be good in all usage scenarios.

Based on my experience recording short guitar videos for instagram... That this phone does have the Noise Cancellation issue. No doubt. I absolute HATE IT!
Anyone know a fix for this?

I just noticed when I record a video there is a very loud high pitch whine that is constant. Can anyone test this or confirm if this is a known issue or perhaps I have a defect? I truly hope I don't have to exchange this cause the screen I got is close to perfect.
I'm all stock still on 4.0.1 actually, I just didn't want to upgrade just yet. Perhaps the update fixes this high pitch whine? Thanks for any feedback.

You only get the noise when recording in silence, correct?
If so, the phone is probably increasing the gain of the microphone because it is picking up very little sound...
Never mind I'm an idiot. Even though my TV was muted somehow this mic must have high gain or picked up some kind of interference. Cause when I turn off the TV the video records perfectly normal.

Yes thanks, I turned off my TV and all is normal. Must have been some weird interference? Guess thus thread is pointless now my bad peoples. I just had a scare there!
I've seen this mentioned on a different site but wanted to get some feedback from XDA folks. Does anyone else have this issue? There's a weird crackling while on calls when the screen is either on or off (speakerphone is fine). I also noticed that when not on a call, if you put it up to your ear and turn on the screen, you can hear a similar sound that goes away when the screen is off. I saw that this problem was also happening with the Nexus 4 at one point but the thread didn't seem to go anywhere, and a similar thread for the G2. I went and exchanged my phone today and this one actually seems worse.
I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy. If it matters, it's a Verizon model.

I have International version and I have the same problem. I discovered something that wasn't mentioned before. When you'll take off the back cover the crackling is gone. Please try and give feedback if it is the same with your g3.

Crackling is definitely still there without the back cover. The US variant doesn't have wireless charging, so maybe that part is causing the crackling for you?
edit: I found a couple of threads

No solution other than to exchange. Let's see what happens when I go back. I will go through all of their phones if I have to.
edit2: Went back to the store after work and they flat out refused to replace it because we couldn't reproduce it in the store. I'm starting to think it only does it when not in a full signal area. Stores have repeaters in them.
I am noticing a slight pop, crackling noise from the phone ear piece as well. I rarely use a phones earpiece...almost always use my Bluetooth(Voyager Legend).
I don't hear any of this when using my bluetooth headset.
It is very minor...imo....though just now, I was talking with a friend via the phone headset....and he said there seemed to be some "white noise every-time I spoke.
Same problem - ear speaker buzz / crackle
LG G3 with AT&T - on any and every call, the ear speaker crackles and buzzes so loudly it is almost hard to understand what the person on the phone is saying. This is my 2nd LG G3 in a week. First one killed the battery in 4 hours with very light use. This one battery is great, but now can't talk on phone. Speakerphone is perfect, Bluetooth in car is perfect, but that ear speaker on the face of the phone at the top is causing a huge problem. Any ideas?
i heard a crackling noise too, during calls, in ear speaker..
i have att version d850
Same here
During phone calls it's almost like the buzz/rattle muffles the voices of the individuals in speaking with. I love the G3 but as a teacher and basketball coach talking on the phone is very important to me.

I've had this problem with the G2s but not with my G3. Have D851. Which model do you have?
Headphone cables with higher resistance will reduce the problems. This mostly happens when the volume of the phone is not at max. Try using a Fiio (20$) to connect to your phone, put the volume to max and enjoy clear (and even better quality through better amp) music/audio. The will be no more crackling whatsoever. If there should be, buy your Fiio at amazon.com or similar so that you can return it if it shouldn't work. I myself the the same issue and it got resolved by my Fiio. There's also other reports on a Fiio resolving this issue.
Recently I have been experiencing weird sounds from my speaker on my new g4. The sound comes through, but it sounds exactly like one of those severe weather interruptions on the television or the radio. It's loud, lots of static, and tinny. But it plays the sound from the video, so I can still hear what someone is saying.. just with this added 'effect'. It always happens on snapchat or Instagram and when I go to YouTube or spotify it sounds fine (it might happen on other apps but this is where I noticed it so far). At first I thought maybe I screwed up my speaker somehow like water damage. But if I did that wouldn't the sound be weird in any app? Is this some sort of known bug or software issue? Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and if so is there any way to fix it? I'm using the Verizon model VS98610B
If your speaker was bad, you would get bad audio with every app. I'm guessing Snapchat and Instagram have low quality audio compared to You Tube and Spotify.

earpiece sparked issues
I'm on my third LG g4. The first G4 I got, I set up and then checked my voicemail following morning to find the earpiece speaker making a tinny crackleing unrecognizable sound. I promptly return the phone to the store where I purchased it to get a g4. I got that one home and set it up on the speaker workeds great! In just a few days I realized that the second phone had the screen glitch that so many others are talking about so within seven days I returned it. I'm now on my third LG g4. I'm probably just beyond three weeks of having this phone and just now my speaker has gone out. Or at least its doing the same thing that it was doing. I can use speaker phone just fine and YouTube and all the other apps work great but the earpiece speaker has twice failed me. This phone has been in a case under a glass screen protector since day one and has never been dropped or damaged in any way. I noticed about 2 days ago that people haven't been able to hear me when I've been on the phone with it. I've been using LG phone for the last 15 years and really haven't had any complaints. I expected the best from this phone and aside from these issues I have gotten what I expected. I got the same phone for my wife at the same time. She is still on her very first g4 with no problems at all. I'm a bit taken aback by this whole thing. I'll be calling today to see what the dealers will do for me and if not I'll be getting a hold of LG to get it under warranty.
Another user and I had similar issues, in another thread:
[Problem] In-Ear Volume Cuts Off?
In my case, rebooting would at least temporarily fix the issue. Does that help with your phone?
My voice sounds like crap on the other end. Garbled and cut up. I hear them just fine.
I do not have the problem on speakerphone.
If i block the top microphone, I sound better on the other end.
I had this exact problem with the last LG device I had, the Nexus 5.
There were several threads about it at the time, but LG and Google never fixed it.
Most people either just taped over it or edited a setting in build.prop to disable the second mic.
Anyone else? I really don't want to have to return it and move on.

You have no issues with your speakerphone? My speakerphone sounds like crap, if the volume is too high it gets the tinny distortion. Sad thing this was also the same of the display in the Verizon store and my friends XL 2 as well. I've made a few calls and so far no complaints.

I'll have to pay attention to that to see. Most of my testing so far has just been leaving voicemails for myself

When making calls with the speaker phone after 50% volume is when you can start hearing the tinny distortion.
Any solution to this ?
Iam having real trouble with mic if i change the angle even a little during call .. other person isnt hearing my voice
If i cover the top microphone .. its fine..
It is very agressive voice cancellation ..
How to switch it off ?
Hi there,
I have a question for you and I hope I am in the right place. If not, I very sorry and tell where to post correctly.
In late May I have realized my 5T was making a buzzing/electronic sound through the earpiece (which was very annoying during phone calls). I have sent it to repair twice and I had the same issue. Then I just realized that this buzzing / electronic sound was coming from the internals of the device. I can clearly hear the sound through the back panel, especially when the WI-FI is turned on. So they changed the phone twice and I still have this sound coming out of the internals. I asked some colleagues to listen to it and they can hear it through the back panel, although they can not hear it through the earpiece. For them will not be an issue during phone calls in silent nights, but for me, it is . I know there are electronics inside and they should make a noise, but this noise becomes annoying in phone calls and it's not only a background noise. They may issue a refund.
So my question for you is: have you ever experienced that? Do you hear that sound? Can you please try it and see if you do (WI-FI turned on, a quiet room like hallways, bathrooms, bedrooms at night might be more suited for listening)? Are there any other flagships or phones that make this weird sound that can be heard through the earpiece?
And the second question for you is: what is the best option to replace 5T with? I am from Bucharest, Romania, so phones like Pixel 2 XL are harder to find, and some of the phones are usually 100-150€ more expensive than their USA/UK counterparts. Is it Honor Mate 10 Pro outdated? Is it Pixel 2 XL worth it so much? is Huawei P20 or Pro good enough? Is OP6, even without fingerprint gestures, a good enough experience to be a very good buy?
Well, there more than 2 questions and I really hope I didn't bother you too much with this article.
Kind regards and thank you very much for replying,
Raresch
It should come from the fingerprint reader, AFAIK this is an "issue" for every op5t. Not annoying at all.
Yes i can confirm that. It is not anoying and sound don't appear durning calls at all.
