i was trying to transfer my email accounts from my s3 to the s2. After I restore the email accounts, my email app is gone. Any idea on how to get it back? thanks.
i can see the email apk in the system/app folder. I did try to do an install, but it said not enough space.

If your talking about the standard email app that comes with the phone, you can pretty much pull that from any ROM.
Try @rwilco12's repository.
Also @erikalin's stock app will provide you with all stock apps.

I just got my Epic 4G Touch and coming from a blackberry, i have a question regarding email management.
On one of my pop email accounts, when i was set up on my blackberry it would show the emails and not download them from the server but if i wanted to delete an email it would give me the option to also delete it from the server. This was very handy as it allowed me to get rid of junk email before i got to the office/home computer.
How can i have it setup like this, is their an option somewhere ?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete-I am not using the stock POP3 mail app but using K9 Mail. With K9 Under Account Settings Under Fetching Mail there is choice "When I delete a message" it gives choice to delete on server or not when deleted from phone. I am probably making this sound confusing but you might check out K9. The reason I am using it is easier to empty trash email compared to stock that has you delete one at a time.

Email/account settings/incoming settings/delete mail from server
Docarut, thanks for the suggestion but i have tried k9 and its problem is its one option for all emails. So if i want to pick and choose what to delete, and from where i don't think i can ? ?
wase4711, if i do that then on my office computer the emails wont be seen anymore, right ?
Thanks,
Pete
Cant you just set it up as IMAP and be able to do that?
Sent from my SPH-D710

I am assuming that your outlook is displaying mail housed on an exchange server?
Are you running Stock or a custom ROM?
GB (EI22/EL30/FB15):
I have read that using the email.apk (the stock email application) from FroYo (android 2.2) people are having better results.
attached find the email application from EC05, save it to your sd card, use root explorer to rename the email.apk in /system/app to email.old, then copy email.apk on your sd card to /system/app.
reboot and try to connect to your exchange server.
I can't test this as I don't have an exchange server to connect to.
CM9:
here is a thread talking about exchange server email
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498149
you may be able to use the attached email.apk under CM9 as well.
Hope that helps
It looks like jdelano and I were writing at the same time. If you were looking for more beginner instructions, here is what I wrote:
The first thing you should try is the ActiveSync option in the Accounts & Sync settings. The icon looks like the four corners of a square and the name sometimes varies. You will need to enter your log in information, your network domain, and your server. Depending on your server's setup the amount of data you need to enter can be different. Usually yu will start with email and password and it will try to autodetect the other settings but if that doesn't work you will need to enter more manually. If yu have to enter the server URL it is usually the URL you would use to access Outlook Web Access. If you are lucky, the security model on the exchange server is compatible with the features of the Epic and everything will sync with the stock email, contacts, and calendar apps.
If you get an error about the security not being compatible you will most likely need to buy Touchdown for Exchange or Moxier Mail.
Let me know if this is enough information for you. If not I can do some screen-shots to try and help.
I am running stock deodexed and rooted el30..exactly what app do I use for this?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I have exchange email and I always use the stock email app that is included with whatever rom and version. Meaning I never change the email and I don't really condone that idea because in the email app they had to upgrade security settings in the gb app.

You will need to contact your I.T. to give you the proper settings because if its exchange email you will not be able to use the account settings found in outlook for that email account because those are the "local settings" if you are on their network. You need the external settings but your I.T. would give you the proper settings by just telling them what you want to do. If they allow you to.

Thanks for the file. I got really excited when I tried this and didn't get the error that my phone wasn't compatible with the server's security settings and it looked like the syncs were all good to go. Unfortunately no data populated the email app, the calendar, or the contacts for me.
I hope others get better results.
I wanted to use the GMAIL app for my phone, but since there is no way to set it NOT to push email (which is battery draining), I had to switch back to the stock email app. However, I am noticing that the stock app does not actually delete emails in my gmail, but instead sends them to a newly labeled folder called [imap]/trash.
Is there a way to stop this all from happening? I really don't want to have to go in and delete stuff twice all the time. Would anyone recommend any other (preferably free) email apps for an unrooted stock GS3?
Thanks!
EDIT: This also happens to sent emails. They go to ta [imap]/Sent folder instead of just my regular sent folder.
Uh, you can go into Accounts -> Sync and uncheck the Gmail sync option to stop it from syncing.
If you want to sync other things, and not gmail just uncheck the gmail option.

i am aware of that. i like my email to check itself every hour or so (which i can do with the stock app), but not constantly. is that to much to ask? i could both delete from server, and check hourly, on the stock mail app on my iphone

Ah see you didn't mention you wanted to have it limited based on a specific time frame.

good point, sorry about that. yeah, i don't want my email constantly pushed, but i also would rather not have to check it on my own as i have 5 email accounts and prefer to just get notified hourly.
i'm trying the k-9 app, but it doesn't group threaded messages. i guess that's a small price to pay... meh.

sweet. thanks!
Also, does anyone know if having multiple email accounts pushing vs. just one account pushing would drain the battery faster? does it matter how many you have going?
I have about 8,000 emails in my trash folder. I am using the stock email program that the Sprint Note II came with and the phone is rooted. I can not get the folder to populate so I can delete them.
Can anyone tell me where the emails are stored so I can go in with root explorer and delete them?
Thank you

I figured it out. I had to stop synch on my email accounts to be able to load the trash folder. Minimized each group and checked the box on the left of the group name, then hit the trash can icon at the top of the screen.
Thanks for the help.

Hi all,
Has anyone noticed the stock email app puts deleted mails into the "important" folder instead of the bin in the Gmail account? Don't know if it's just me, my account or my phone.

Tried changing settings inside Google account online, hunted through Google search for a reason, cleared cache and data but no joy. It doesn't put all deleted mail in important, just odd one or two but after a while I ended up with a right abundance of crap in there.

The Gmail app and the stock email app both behave the same, so it can't be the actual client, it must be the way Google handles some particular email. My yahoo account works fine in both client apps
