I recently updated the firmware on my M7 thru santo040 [ROM]|Radio|Firmware post. I was on 4.10.605.3 and upgraded to 5.28.605.2 , I also updated the radio as well.I am currently on BONESTOCK v4.3. I did this process at work and everything worked. As I got home and plugged my phone in the wall charger I noticed a slow charge notification. I selected don't show this again and hit ok. As i got to work the next morning i wanted to change to the dark boot screen. But when I plugged the phone into the PC this time I get a windows error stating that this usb device malfunctioned. So I thought it was the driver so I reinstalled the driver and get the same error. I even plugged it into my home PC and get the same error. Has anyone experienced this issue? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried a different usb cable?
We're you on that Rom when you updated the firmware?
I tried several cables and different PCs. ROM is Bonestock v4.3
Also constantly getting slow charge notification when I plug it in the wall charger at home. Original charger
Have you tried to see if PC recognizes the device in bootloader or recovery to rule out the ROM somehow being the culprit?

That slow charge notification is generally only seen when using a non oem cable.
Best I can suggest at this point, is trying a different cable and a different usb port.
I know you said you tried from two different computers and several cables, but something isn't right, or the pc should recognize the device properly.
I am on the latest firmware and so are many others and I've had no issues using adb, fastboot, or file transfer and haven't seen any other reports of such.
Not sure what has or has not been done to the boot.img in that rom, but it could be that it does not have adb enabled or you do not have usb debugging enabled in Dev settings?
Not really sure what else to suggest at this point.
Sounds to me like a bad cable though, especially if you are getting the low charge notification from it, it likely won't transfer data.

I unchecked and check usb debugging several times. The cable I'm using are different. I have one for my desk at work and for home.
Is there another way to enable adb. Everything was working fine before the updated of the firmware. I even tried to restore a backup to an earlier date. no avail

tried all of those.
Are you using Kies for the drivers? I thought Kies interfered somehow and it was recommended to just install the full driver setup standalone.
Also, have you tried a different pc yet?
Also make sure you have USB Debugging enabled.

Possibly. Have you tried to odin the one-click-root back to stock rooted yet?
First thing I would do personally. Also, swap cables again and try a different usb port. I would plug into the rear usb if possible too. Front usb ports are prone to interference since they're wired via a cable from the motherboard. And do not use a usb extension cable (found this out the hard way too). Good luck.

Agreed with previous poster - you may be bricked, seems oddly familiar to this issue:
Stuck at "Data.img" thru Odin
As sfhub has mentioned you can and should try the Odin OC again to confirm. But if it says the same it's fairly certain that the eMMC is damaged and the phone is bricked.
If you try again and it has the same results you may want to post more details on that thread. It's been a good attempt to try and document each person's case and try to find what is causing this to happen. The more info the better to troubleshoot, such as what you tried to flash and how you were flashing (were you going back to GB + CWM to flash ICS, for example)
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the samsung drivers at least 4 times, rebooted phone and pc multiple times, tried 3 different PCs and still nothing.
Nothing(other than charging) pops up on the PC's or the phone when I plug it in. I have tried checking USB debugging several times.
Any ideas?
This just started happening to me today as well haha
Can't figure out why either
Did you get the current drivers from Samsung's site?
How about flashing any recent changes on the phones?
Does it indicate anything on the phone?
Any info - no matter how trivial it may seem - would help. Thanks!
I just got it to work by using the OEM usb cable that came with the NOTE 2.
Previously, I had tried 2 different htc cables, an LG cable and a random generic one. Really odd that it was the cable.

It was this way with the E4GT as well. Explanation I was given at the time was that the pin connections are longer on Samsung than most. That's why most cables except Samsung and BB cables fail on data but fine on power.
I've used the same cable the entire time. It's still not recognizing it.

Right click the usb icon in the task bar and find your phone in the devices. Then trouble shoot it. I have to do this just about every single time I want to connect and transfer something.

hey guys am new here so sorry for my first post being a problem
ok so im kinda new to the android scene after many years of apple products i can safely say i wont be returning lol very impressed and gutted i didnt switch to android a long time ago...
anyway the problem i have is that after doing a lot of reading and browsing this forum i installed a few different kernels and then started with roms, and now discovered neither Bluetooth or usb works Ive tried many different things including restoring back to stock rom and kernel rebooting several times both PC and phone, ive tried a few other things that seemed to fix for others i installed the drivers at least 9 times now and kies over and over, also tried the galaxy note tool kit but it just wont see the phone it just charges it ive also tried a different cable and the same problem is there... the only option ive not tried is to completely remove root and start again, but the problem i have is that if that doesn't fix it is that i wont be able to root again through odin,
Ive enabled usb debugging etc also nothing im really lost with this now as want to transfer files that's when i realized Bluetooth wont switch on either
i upgraded to 4.1.2 with the omega rom also and still the same now am back to 4.1.1 through a saved restore
so pls any advice or pointers would be amazing

Error is on the phone or PC? And what cable are you using? It should be the stock white cable - even the S2 cable doesn't work for me.

This is correct. I rooted a Note II last night using the white cable. The easiest way is to enable us debugging on the phone and issue the command from your:
adb reboot download
Once it is in download mode you can push your md5 with Odin

Indeed. I did try using a Nexus 7 usb cable and wouldn't recognize my phone but only to charge it not as a usb device. I then plugged another cable that it came with a spare S3 that I have and that worked for me.
i think it shoud be *#7284#
usb/mtp/ptp
I have CM12.1 on SPH-L900, when I go to settings>storage and click USB computer connection, it says USB is disconnected, I don't get the MTP/PTP menu.
I've tried in debug mode, I've tried *#7284#, and many others but none bring up a phone util screen. any help would be, helpful.
I used CWM to install.
edit: so I grabbed every cable I had and one worked, happened to be for a kodiak camera.
Since yesterday my phone refuses to charge while booted into android (CM 10.1.2 Stable).
However it has absolutely no problems charging while turned off, in bootloader or hboot.
Also it will not be detected by PC usb so I can't flash a different ROM. What the hell is going on?
How do I get out of this mess?
Just to be clear I've already hard resetted the phone. It would appear that the usb drivers on the phone are to blame?
Need some help guys.

Here's what I've tried so far:
Reinstalled HTC drivers
Installed a different recovery
Installed a different ROM with a stock kernel
VOodOO magic
Nothing has worked so far.
If I turn the phone off I can use adb to flash ROMS and such. However USB will not work when the device is on:
No charging or data transfer over USB. Otherwise phone appears to be working perfectly.

It's was happened to me with Sony Xperia Z, when usb debugging on all are working, but actually it's not a normal condition.
My pc is windows64bit and happening this problem so changed to win32 all are OK, So I think this may be driver conflict in PC.
Therefore if possible you try with another PC.

Tried different cords and PCs.
Even wall chargers do not work.
Also comfirmed that a middle strip of around 10% of my screen area is dead to touch.
All signs indicate hardware damage. Might take it to HTC to get fixed now.

Hello friends,
I own a OP3 fr over a year now and had no issues with it while rooting and changing roms, etc till two weeks ago.
After updating my ROM (Experience rom) to its latest version my phone could not mount to the PC, OTG is not working and dash charge went to hell.
Now, The phone has never been close to water at all, I've been careful with it more than with myself.
The phone has been checked by a repair man, he changed the usb port+mic 3 times, still not working.
Ofc I checked another charger, another cable, drivers, another otg usb.... NOTHING seems to get it to mount.
TWRP is working alright but I cannot mount from there also. OTG as well.
The phone shows on some PC's that it is an unknown device, even with drivers installed, won't let me set it as a mass storage or anything I can think of.
Does anyone have an idea to what the hell is going on?
Thank you in advance.

I can't do a logcat. There is no OS currently.
I can only enter TWRP or Fastboot.
Cannot mount from TWRP, Cannot get ADB sideload to work.
The device is an unrecognized driver in the device manager. (tried uninstalling ALL related drivers and installing again.)
Only weird thing i found is that the baseband and modem versions are missing from showing in fastboot
Exact same problem here
Im using the open beta 12, no OTG no dash charging :crying:

If you are talking about bootloader mode, right from the day I purchased the phone, they are blank despite flashing different ROMs and firmware/modems. So that is not an issue.
I'm having a weird issue with my Pixel 2 XL. I recently purchased Pixel 3 and used the adapter to transfer apps, etc from my Pixel 2 to the Pixel 3. It worked as intended.
However, after that happened, the Pixel 2 XL is not being recognized by my computer. I plug it in and it only charges and there's no notification to change usb mode. It also won't charge using the included charger that came with the phone.
My end goal is to unroot and relock bootloader so i can sell it but obviously I'm stuck. I've read it may be a USB 3.0 issue so I've ordered a 2.0 cable and it should be here in a couple days but looking for any suggestions. Below is what I've tried:
* Multiple computers and different cables
* USB debugging is on and default USB is set to file transfer.
* I've cleared media storage and external storage cache per Google product forums.

Your likely right. Getting a 2.0 USB A to USB C cable is probably the solution. Many have had this issue. Including myself. There's even been times when a cable that did work, didn't work the next day. Then a week latter, it will. Go figure! :fingers-crossed:

So I got in the new USB 2.0 cable and computer still doesn't recognize the phone. I updated drivers and that didn't work either. I also uninstalled drivers but seeing as the computer isn't recognizing phone, it's not installing drivers when the phone is plugged back in.
The phone works except there's an update pending but it won't install, which I'm assuming it's do to the fact the bootloader is unlocked.
Is there anyway to install March security update using just twrp and downloading files to my phone and see if that'll work?

Bummer man! You've got a stubborn one, or a bad port. You can download the OTA from here....
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Then flash it in twrp. However, remember to flash twrp again after the update is finished, then let the phone boot up, then go back to twrp and flash root and custom kernel if you use one :good:
