I was wondering if I would be able to unroot and claim my warranty after rooting/S-Offing with Sunshine. I've got a Verizon HTC One M8 and want to know before I purchase the license.
With s-off you can do pretty much everything....

You can unroot but you will still be soff which htc may argue with you. If you turn security back on it throws a tampered label. Warranty with verizon should be fine, but htc… not so much.
And is there no way to remove the "Tampered" label?

Of course you can. With s-off you can do anything as Mr Hofs said.

You can change the Relocked to locked, the s-off to s-on, anything you like.

Hi everyone,
I'm considering getting a Verizon HTC one, but I have a question about warranty coverage after I unlock the bootloader. HTC's website says that "not all claims resulting or caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader may be covered under warranty." This would seem to imply that my warranty is still valid after I bootloader unlock the phone, just not for issues arising from the unlocked bootloader. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Zane
Well HTCDev bootloader unlock doesn't work for Verizon anymore...

won't it once the phone is s-off? Or do you not need htcdev at that point? I can't remember from my rezound.

depends on the exploit. With s-off (I know revone can do this) you can unlock through htcdev and also use revone to remove the tampered and relocked flags. So theoretically you can remove all the flags and s-on and not leave a shred of evidence.

RevOne unlocks your device you don't need to use HTC-Dev
Can i return my phone with s-off, Bootloader locked and origenal software without voiding warranty ? My screen is broken...
I wouldn't worry about insurance replacements. Assurion doesn't even check. Are you returning it to Verizon though or doing an insurance claim?
I also wanna know if there is a way to get s-on back or a modified hboot that says it's s-on. I have a front camera issue and am getting a CLNR.

Ah my bad. I forgot I wasn't in the Verizon forums. Thanks though.
I sent one in for repair here in the US. It was locked, not showing tampered but I left it s-off.. They didn't say anything but it came back to me s-on

You'll be fine...Just make sure everything else is stock. They don't seem to care about S-Off. Some devices slip through that are already S-OFF'd right out of the box.

My phone returned yesterday and it was still s-off
I had to turn s back on on my phone, but now i have three flags Tampered, Relocked, and Secruity warning, is there any way to get rid of the tampred and secruity warning and change the relocked back to locked?
Are you S-OFF if you aren't check if firewater it's compatible with your device and you can S OFF I don't suggest you do this if you don't have some experience with things like this..
Can I unlock bootloader and root and stuff using the AIO toolkit, then S-off from there?

Yes you can but no guarantee that you can get s-off
So is it correct to say that if I S-off before doing any modding with the phone, s-off is guranteed? And will HTC check for S-off during warranty check?

I am S-off, had to go s-on because I need to send phone into htc
I hace an s-offed M8, with an unlocked bootloader.
However, it has an issue and needs to be returned to warranty.
If you're s-off you can remove all the tampered warnings and when you lock your bootloader it'll be changed to "locked" instead of relocked.
If I restore to complete stock and perform all these steps and undo the s-off, will HTC honour my warranty?
Or is your IMEI given to HTC when you unlock it through HTC DEV and they blacklist you?
Anyone with any experience regarding this would be much appreciated.
They know you unlocked. I would lock bootloader and leave it soff. Going s-on throws a tampered label. If they try to charge you just argue that you are not unlocked and they must prove that unlocking broke your phone. If you are in the US you should be good. Harder if you are in another country.

Ya you shouldn't have problem. But you shouldn't try to go to s-on this may cause problem.Just change the label to Locked and restore nandbackup/Stock rom and you are good to go!
Just got my M7 back form HTC for warranty repair. Phone was sent with to HTC with S-off but arrived with S-on and Hboot 1.57
I am a bit confused on what I need to do as things have changed since I first S-off using rumrunner and weaksauce.
Other then sunshine, Is there a way to root the phone in it's present state? Can I unlock the bootloader with HTdev?
Thanks
BB

With hBoot 1.57, Sunshine is your only option. Works easy.

So we can't even root the M7 on hBoot 1.57 unless we use sunshine first?
I assume we can't flash and older version as well.
Thanks

Yes to both: it can be rooted and rommed just after you finish Sunshine.
And you're correct about you can't go back.
Once you've got S-0ff, you can go backwards and forwards with radios and hboots.
