Just got my M7 back form HTC for warranty repair. Phone was sent with to HTC with S-off but arrived with S-on and Hboot 1.57
I am a bit confused on what I need to do as things have changed since I first S-off using rumrunner and weaksauce.
Other then sunshine, Is there a way to root the phone in it's present state? Can I unlock the bootloader with HTdev?
Thanks

With hBoot 1.57, Sunshine is your only option. Works easy.

So we can't even root the M7 on hBoot 1.57 unless we use sunshine first?
I assume we can't flash and older version as well.
Thanks

Yes to both: it can be rooted and rommed just after you finish Sunshine.
And you're correct about you can't go back.
Once you've got S-0ff, you can go backwards and forwards with radios and hboots.

I noticed after rooting 2.2, All I did was get root and apply the eng-bootloader.
But It says S-OFF in the bootloader and I did not apply unrevoked forever.
I got it though sprint's phone insurance company, since it's replacement for my old one.
Why would it have S-OFF? It's hardware 003. So I see no reason why it's S-OFF'd.

The engineering bootloader is S-OFF, but it is not permanent unlike Unrevoked Forever. If you load a regular bootloader back on, the S-OFF will go away.
Correct me if I am wrong, but eng gives you S-OFF doesn't it? I have S-OFF and I didn't use u4.

It won't stick....
S - Off = you have root, but if you did not run unrEVOked Forever you can lose root by an OTA update.
Y'all must be using a different hboot than me because Eng hboot never showed S-OFF until I ran U4E...
Alright. Just wondering.
Sent from my HTC Evo 4g using XDA App
I had to turn s back on on my phone, but now i have three flags Tampered, Relocked, and Secruity warning, is there any way to get rid of the tampred and secruity warning and change the relocked back to locked?
Are you S-OFF if you aren't check if firewater it's compatible with your device and you can S OFF I don't suggest you do this if you don't have some experience with things like this..
Can I unlock bootloader and root and stuff using the AIO toolkit, then S-off from there?

Yes you can but no guarantee that you can get s-off
So is it correct to say that if I S-off before doing any modding with the phone, s-off is guranteed? And will HTC check for S-off during warranty check?

I am S-off, had to go s-on because I need to send phone into htc
Hello.
So I have a One M8 with a 3.19 HBOOT and I want to S-OFF this device. Firewater seems to be broken on this firmware and I'm not paying $25 for Sunshine. So my question is, is it possible for me to flash an older version of HBOOT onto the device? The device is an unlocked European one (both carrier and bootloader unlocked) with HTC_032 CID running CyanogenMod 12, but I can go back to stock if I need to. Thanks.

Firewater won't work on any firmware as it has now been dis abandoned, Sunshine is the only way to go

Oh, that sucks. Is it still possible to downgrade HBOOT? I've heard that Sunshine doesn't work on all 3.xx devices right now.

not without s-off if you run sunshine, it will do some checks and let you know if it will work or not before you have to purchase, so, try and run it and see what happens. for $25.00 it is worth doing

No. You cannot "downgrade" hboot with s-on.
If you could, then everyone would be doing it (that is stuck with s-on) and there wouldn't really be an "issue" with 3.x devices.
As previously mentioned, try sunshine and see if your device is supported (you won't be charged if not).
I haven't seen a thread in this phone section where it shows how to s-off an htc desire 820u (qualcomm) without using an xtc2clip.
May I ask, is there an option to s-off a phone without using a gold card/xtc2clip?
If not, can you give me a way to s-off my phone?
Is it possible to create a gold card to s-off my phone?
I need s-off for my phone since I need to upgrade to lollipop and I have modified my OS without doing backups.
Unfortunaly, for my device which I think is 0PFJDIAG (it is the zip that is searched by hboot) or 0PFJ120(the model number that is written on the back of my phone), there is no available stock kitkat ruu. But if you do have one, please tell me where I can download it.
i don't think there is a way to s-off without xtc2clip
and for the kitkat ruu
i have an d820u and it came ithink with Chinese or Taiwanese software and i used the Indian ruu and worked for me (but mine came already s-off) this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-820/development/ruu-stock-fw-desire-820u-dual-sim-t3217030
i don't know if you can do it while s-on
but why you don't get s-off with xtc2clip it costed me about 15$ in a local mobile repair shop
Hey man, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I've gone to the phone unlocking shops that are near to my place but there is no single person who has an xtc2clip there. Maybe I'll just wait for a software s-off for me to be able to upgrade my phone
Anyone here from the Philippines who know a shop where I can s-off my phone?

Sunshine S-OFF can work in almost all HTC Devices and it is Software only but it will cost you 25$.
Which RUU are you looking for anyway, or can you post a photo of your bootloader, I might help with with that

Sunshine does't support Htc desire 820 yet, the only way to S-off is xtc2clip

I'm not in France :crying: I actually own an 820s, this phone does not need s-off as one is able to write every partition with SP Flash Tool without s-off or unlocking bootloader
I bought this second handed HTC 10.
It came with a superCID but it is in S-on state.
I knew s-off is required for superCID, so is it possible to revert back to the s-off state without Sunshine?

Maybe it is s-off but with a s-on flag, that is an option when using sunshine.
Try to write a different CID. if that fails you want to run sunshine again. If sunshine is previous bought for this device you won't be charged with the costs.

I can't change the CID nor run Sunshine without being charged again. I guess it isn't s-off with the Sunshine method initially. Thanks for the reply!

That's the only explanation indeed. Maybe xtc clip/javacard.
If you want to s-off it again i would go with sunshine, it's cheap and solid.
