Hi
I am just curious. is there any ways to unlock the band so that I can use 3G at USA?
My Desire is from Europe and the 3G radio is different from US's
Nope. Different hardware

Hi, I'm a bit confused on which I have, I got it in the mail with the tmobile rom and g2 hboot fully s-offed, new, only opened to s-off, but it came from hong kong in a black htc old box, it was supposed to be a desire z, but... it has the G2 keyboard, but the dz back and "with htc sense" label.. any clue?

well other than the few things like the back cover wording and the tmobile words on the digitizer or htc or whatever, the only difference that matters is the hboot. it looks like it was a dz but know has a g2 hboot. so now it is a g2 for all that matters

That's what I'm thinking, my biggest hope is that it has the g2 bands, because I'm using straight talk, and think I need the tmo sim

Well if you find that you have an FM radio in it, then it's DZ Hardware.
I don't know how you can tell the bands without first booting up into the phone and checking the about, but if you find it:
Desire Z - Band I: 900/2100 Mhz
G2 - Band IV: 1700/2100 Mhz
Maybe the serial number in the About Phone setting could help.
Though other sources say the G2 covers every bands TMobile uses currently:
Carrier: T-Mobile
2G Technology (Frequencies): GSM (850/900/1800/1900mhz)
3G Technology (Frequencies): HSDPA (850/900/1900/2100mhz)
4G Technology (Frequencies): HSDPA+ (1700/2100mhz)

Well battery plates are interchangeable, however it does say HTC along the top of the phone, though the keyboard appears same as my G2. I'm wondering if it's a re-furbished G2 with an DZ Digitizer and housing.
What does your hBoot say ? T-Mobile if I'm not mistaken have specific radio versions.
Here's my hboot

As the chip is Snapdragon 8930, which containes worldwide telecommunciation ability of using GSM / WCDMA / CDMA EV-DO(3G) / TD-SCDMA / LTE-TDD / LTE-FDD. How to make One VX able to use all of these bands?
Thanks,

The baseband is capable but a lot of features can be disable either by Qualcomm or HTC, hardware wise. Most likely, it is not possible. Besides, this model is exclusive to AT&T as far as I know.

It is "exclusive" to AT&T however it can be simunlocked pretty easily. Runs fine on T-Mobile 2G/3G.
I don't have T-Mobile 4G/LTE access in my area to know if it works fine on that band.

Yeah, I agree. But one of the big interests for smartphone hackers is to make the phone work or run beyond general-users' experience, like HTC HD, which can run Windows Mobile 6.5 / Windows Phone 7.X / Android / even Meego OS (Some OS may not stable, but it is fun). If One VX can work under all of the bands its chip supports, then I think it will be another amazing phone in future.

heyy, I have done bootloader unlock,s-off and root....how can I use my other carrier ship?? I put it in but requests pin..
someone help mee
there are some devices that have this kind of features blocked by software but most of them have a hardware restriction. phones like droid razr, htc rezound, samsung s3 verizon to name a few, have this restriction by software to work globaly (CDMA+GSM).
im not saying it can not be done, just unlikely (by software).
back when windows mobile 6 was still alive we saw a lot people with this kind of concerns. different models with the almost the same specifications. htc models with qwerty keyboard had tv out while non-qwerty ones had fm radio. others with the bands. this is even involves laws. the country i live the 700mhz spectrum is still being used for analog tv, hence, no other kind of devices can use that frequency.
again im not say it cannot be done at all, just unlikely.
my suggestion, search other forums of similar devices to see if anyone has tryed something like that.
Hi guys,
I am been for while on Samsung phones and bought M8 yesterday. Samsung had phones like S4 with different Hardware and Model numbers based on Carrier and Region. The ROMs are different to flash.
Is that the same case for M8? I bought M8 from Australia (Unlocked) and thinking to flash GPE. Will that be problem?
Thanks in advance
Bump!!!!

As far as I know, yes, but the differences tend to be minor. I can already tell from your signature here that we have a different phone. I also believe that there is much less variety in the hardware than what the model number would suggest (i.e. phones with different model numbers may be identical).
AFAIK, the M8s sold in Asia should be clocked at 2.5 GHz instead of 2.3, although this shouldn't make any noticeable difference.
Thank you for the reply.
Can I install GPE on device? As far I know it 2.5gHz clocked.

I believe you can, as I can't recall hearing any major limitations about the GPE conversion. I am not sure anyway, I have no experience with the GPE. This is likely to be explained on the GPE conversion thread, just look for it. Good luck.

I read that the AT&T radios are better?

There's a 700a and a 700b. I've read elsewhere that AT&T has been using 700b for a while, so some specualte the '700' support is really 700b, which won't work for T-Mobile's 700a. However, the link you provided specifically says 700 for T-Mobile which would only make sense if it's 700a, right?
