Hi guys,
I am been for while on Samsung phones and bought M8 yesterday. Samsung had phones like S4 with different Hardware and Model numbers based on Carrier and Region. The ROMs are different to flash.
Is that the same case for M8? I bought M8 from Australia (Unlocked) and thinking to flash GPE. Will that be problem?
Thanks in advance
Bump!!!!

As far as I know, yes, but the differences tend to be minor. I can already tell from your signature here that we have a different phone. I also believe that there is much less variety in the hardware than what the model number would suggest (i.e. phones with different model numbers may be identical).
AFAIK, the M8s sold in Asia should be clocked at 2.5 GHz instead of 2.3, although this shouldn't make any noticeable difference.
Thank you for the reply.
Can I install GPE on device? As far I know it 2.5gHz clocked.

I believe you can, as I can't recall hearing any major limitations about the GPE conversion. I am not sure anyway, I have no experience with the GPE. This is likely to be explained on the GPE conversion thread, just look for it. Good luck.

Hello one x users,
Sorry to bother you guys but I just bought a international one x off a guy in the marketplace and I have some questions. First off my main question.
I know I obviously bought a international one x. The one I have is a t-mobile international version. Pretty sure it's a German model. Now my brother also has a international one x that he bought from Espansys. It has no carrier stuff like mine so it must be directly from HTC.
Do these phones have any differences? Is the model I have sim locked to t-mobile in Europe? Thanks for your help
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Ok, yours is exactly the same asbhis because it is the global version and they both have the quad core as far as I know. The only one x that is different is the at&t version and that is a quicker device packing a dual core. The only difference between the at&t and global is the processor (number of cores) if you want to.be sure, download an app called quadrant benchmark and check your phones statistics and then your brothers and that's how you can tell if they are the same. As for the locked network, it appears that you may be locked. If you go to change networks just ask the person about whether the sim will work or not in the phone (preferably at the official retailing store of the carrier) and they should be able to tell you

i dont think its worth jumping on a plane and going to a European t mobile store and ask lol. Does anyone else here know anything about how european sell phone companies work? Do they lock their phones.
No lol that's not worth it, what I'm saying is ask the person at the store where you're buying the new micro sim

i doubt if any sales person here in the USA will have the answer. even at a t mobile store lol
You'll have to try it. Some carriers Simlock the phones.
Somebody on here said they unlocked for about 5 bucks.
The other difference is that carriers tend to release firmware updates later than HTC (or not at all)
Check cid and software number.
You can scour the forums for more information about this

Hi, just a stupid question perhaps, but how do you check which One X do you have? I heard there are a couple of them. Some with the Tegra 3 chip and others don't have the Tegra chip. How can I check and how many different ones are there. The reason I'm asking is becuase I want to ROM but on the threads it says it's not avail for the Tegra 3 international one yet, also there are apps on the TegraZone that says it doesn't support my device. Not sure how to check this. Thought all of them had the Tegra chip. Any help/info would be much appreciated
why don't you just get another sim card and try it....
it probably will be sim locked though. most networks lock em.
I got mine from Orange UK and it came network locked, I bought a unlock code off eBay for £3
This is easy just install a other software and you're phone lock wil disappear I had it to with my t-mobile Samsung galaxy 3
And now I can use everything but I have the HTC one x now

I have a question also and this seems like a good place to ask. If I look at what my CID and brand are, it says HTC_044 for CID, and the brand it says htc_asia_wwe. I just want to know if I will get updates when the Europe one gets it. Also, to the OP, download CID getter from the Play Store. From there, tell us what the CID is, its located on the top in the app.

Since my JavaCard should be here in the next few days, I was wondering. Since the GPE One supports most of the bands the VZW One uzes , would flashing the GPE RUU (radios and all) keep me from using cellular data etc?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
It would cool if it worked. If it was mine, I would be worried that if it didn't work, there is no stock RUU to flash. You would basically be forced to get a replacement. I would hold off until there is a stock RUU available.

NO this will not work. It is GSM, bands dont exactly matter here.
The GPE HTC One supports the GSM versions of those particular frequency bands, NOT the CDMA ones. I know it sounds absurd, considering they're the same frequency but when you're dealing with different protocols between GSM & CDMA you don't want to potentially ruin your phone or put yourself in a place where your phone will be hard to recover.
Question as per the title : So any developers have any idea?

Bump? I know that no one has the Asian variant yet, but any idea if it just "may" be compatible with the roms and firmwares of the US variant? Everything other than the processor seems to be the same..
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Haven't got one so can't tell you
More than likely it's going to be the same. Last year the only software differences were CDMA models which have different modem setups for obvious reasons. All GSM US variants, EMEA, ASIA models were all fine with the same software.

I don't know for sure, but I think our mount points are different. Why would you want to flash a ul firmware? The wlv firmware is SIM unlocked and you can use any SIM in it.

As I said, it may cause your phone to be a brick. You can use a Verizon one on any network, just input your carrier APN with your carrier's SIM. You can install any GPE or aosp Rom and it will not have Verizon apps on it iirc.

I honestly don't think so. A: the radios are different. The Verizon one doesn't support any 4G band except 700mhz 13 and it only supports certain hspa and edge frequencies. So it isn't the same hardware wise.
@santod040 might be able to verify my assumption that flashing an international firmware can possibly brick your device.

The firmware from international model will not work, as to it bricking...........no idea on that note(i don't see any reason to find out either, since it won't work for sure). But I know that only VZW firmware will work on the m7vzw. As Uzephi said - the hardware is different.
No it will not work and you will most likely brick by flashing international firmware onto a Verizon one. The radio hardware is different thus making the firmware totally different. Do not do it.

google play also did not go?,develomper edition?
Santod takes the rom from those devices and ports it to this device. Firmware is a totally different beast altogether.
Hi all,
In the specs from At&t Desire Eye, there is no Band 7 (2600Mhz).
Is there a way to get it? Using a Rom from other region or something alike?
Have anyone tried it?
Thanks in advance.

I am not completely sure, but if a band is not mentioned in the specs sheet, I highly doubt that a custom rom would do any good.
It is hardware after all, not the software.

Not always.
Sometimes the hardware is the same, but the software is tweaked to just understand some bands.
I have a HTC M8 (sprint) working with GSM and lots of bands did not mention in the specs, thanks to a rom
