Umm I could be wrong, but I think u need to be a little more specific, if u want a specific answer… few more details as to what type of "altering" u wanna do…

I don't know for sure, but I think our mount points are different. Why would you want to flash a ul firmware? The wlv firmware is SIM unlocked and you can use any SIM in it.

As I said, it may cause your phone to be a brick. You can use a Verizon one on any network, just input your carrier APN with your carrier's SIM. You can install any GPE or aosp Rom and it will not have Verizon apps on it iirc.

I honestly don't think so. A: the radios are different. The Verizon one doesn't support any 4G band except 700mhz 13 and it only supports certain hspa and edge frequencies. So it isn't the same hardware wise.
@santod040 might be able to verify my assumption that flashing an international firmware can possibly brick your device.

The firmware from international model will not work, as to it bricking...........no idea on that note(i don't see any reason to find out either, since it won't work for sure). But I know that only VZW firmware will work on the m7vzw. As Uzephi said - the hardware is different.
No it will not work and you will most likely brick by flashing international firmware onto a Verizon one. The radio hardware is different thus making the firmware totally different. Do not do it.

Hello, my T-mobile SGS3 is (factory) unlocked and I use it with another entirely different carrier.
Is it safe to flash the new UGLV1 radio??
Thanks
Very doubtful!
There are a number of people that had problems when flashing radios on other carriers. Particularly with the T999V.
What carrier are you with? What is your phone model? And what is its current baseband?

I think it is still a SGH-T999. The baseband is T999UVLEM
You msy be able to use the other radios then. Depends on your carrier. UVLEM works so others should as well.
If not you can always flash back to original.

I live in Brazil and my carrier is Vivo. I bought the phone from Amazon while I was in the US and it came unlocked.
I am very afraid to flash the new radio... Isn't my UVLEM modified to be unlocked? If not, what is modified, then? What is different in my phone from other SGH-T999s that makes it unlocked?

Flashing a radio will not re-lock your device. Stick to radios that have T999 in their name - the others won't work and could potentially brick your device.
Thanks for the help, flashed with no problems.
Check out the modem flasher tool on the dev section. Makes it very easy to test and find the best radio for your phone and area.

Since my JavaCard should be here in the next few days, I was wondering. Since the GPE One supports most of the bands the VZW One uzes , would flashing the GPE RUU (radios and all) keep me from using cellular data etc?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
It would cool if it worked. If it was mine, I would be worried that if it didn't work, there is no stock RUU to flash. You would basically be forced to get a replacement. I would hold off until there is a stock RUU available.

NO this will not work. It is GSM, bands dont exactly matter here.
The GPE HTC One supports the GSM versions of those particular frequency bands, NOT the CDMA ones. I know it sounds absurd, considering they're the same frequency but when you're dealing with different protocols between GSM & CDMA you don't want to potentially ruin your phone or put yourself in a place where your phone will be hard to recover.
Hey guys, since T-Mobile has unlocked bootloader, are you guys able to flash other carriers roms like at&t?
I'm only asking because im on an AT&T model, but eventually want to flash T-Mobile roms once our bootloader is unlocked for wifi calling.

It would require some tweaking, but in the base idea, yes, they're all the same (with different radios and likely different kernels). You'll want to just wait a little bit and have devs port to the other models. However, your goal of getting wifi calling likely won't work. Maybe I've been out of the loop, but last I checked the app registers your phone number with the T-Mobile network so it knows where to forward calls/texts to. So it more than likely won't work for AT&T/Verizon. I believe Sprint has it now, but same method.

hi sorry, i left out a big important detail. I'm on t-mobile lol. so it would work for me. This is my first lg phone, and i've been on many other phones where we can easily cross flash carriers without the need of porting the roms. I was under the impression that the at&t model was slightly different? i should revisit that again just to be sure.
I was hoping if there was any hard evidence or experience that someone did flash an at&t rom without any hiccups. That'll mean we can do it vice versa.
Thanks for the info.
On other phones this has been possible, I would wait for a definite answer, or make sure you have a backup ready just in case you do try it...
I am on Verizon and I was also wondering if I can flash a T-mobile rom without the risk of an hard brick. I can take the risk of a SW brick.
Why would you want to do this
I'd be careful, there are probably significant differences, you can't use a vz phone on tmo network.

I'm pretty certain that all Vzw phones come unlocked and can be used on t-mobile. Might not get all the bands to work correctly, but will still work.
Vz runs a cdma network for voice and data, t-mobile runs gsm. Some phones can do both, eg Verizon's world phones, but by no means all of them. YMMV

If it is 4g it should be a "world" phone.
Here's the details: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-6991
While the G3 isn't listed, the G2 is so I would assume it will work.
I have flashed a Verizon rom on my T-Mobile phone and almost everything worked fine. You'll need to adjust the apn and delete Bluetooth apn as it fc. The OP stated that he will most likely make a patch to fix the problems

If there are some limitations that is not conencted with ROM and you cant do anything about that.
You are sure that your phone is unlocked to other carriers?
And sure that AT&T phones work with Verizon network?

I am sure that the Verizon LG g3 can accept an at&t SIM card and work on their gsm network. But I am not sure if I have to change the software (Rom) or the baseband (radio software) to at&t software
You cant flash the at&t baseband to the verizon model i dont think there are software limitations to changing network apart from verizon specific apps the only problem could be hardware but if you think it works on both networks i see no issue

Thank you that's what I was looking for
in terms of rooting which version should I purchase? I heard that the USA version has a locked bootloader which means it is not rootable correct? Is it impossible to unlock the bootloader unless Samsung does something or..? I would assume that since people are going so far as to refund their phones instead of waiting for an unlocker to be released if that is even possible.
I'm waiting to buy international version of phone with Xynos Chip and no AT&T bloatware. We will probably get better battery life and faster updates. We will lose HD and Wifi calling but no biggie IMHO.

Having done development work in this field, I feel obligated to tell you that's not exactly true. Hd voice consists of two voice codecs - AMR Wideband, and AMR narrowband. These codecs do not explicitly require VoLTE to function. In fact, you can make "HD Voice" calls over 4G HSPA/HSPA+ using the narrowband version of the codec.

Yeah everyone dumbs down their definitions for the general public.
Basically, telephony in general has always had an 8khz spectrum width for audio. This was manly due to the fact it's small and low bandwidth. With the advent of 3.5g (hspa/hspa+ and lte) bandwidth is drastically increased. This allows for a doubled (16khz) spectrum width as there's plenty of bandwidth for it.

For AT&T and Verizon, correct. T-Mobile uses HD Voice over their 3G network, and you get better sounding calls when talking to another T-Mobile subscriber (I understand they will eventually bridge HD Voice to other carriers). VoLTE for T-Mobile (Advanced Calling for VZW) allows you to keep your LTE signal while on a call, as opposed to dropping down to 3G.

I can purchase an international version on eBay, there is one currently for 789$ but there is only gold platinum available and the seller ships from NY.... i want to get this but unsure if it is a fake phone or something ><
The Phone may be region locked. Mine (South East Asia) came with a card that says, the Phone needs to be using SEA sim card for the first boot up.

I'm in the same boat, $789 seems lucrative, but no warranty so not sure should take that risk or not. I'm waiting for B&H to go on sale at least they provide their own 1 year warranty.
