Does anyone else have an echo on speaker phone? I am using the voice enhancement feature and others have told me they hear an echo when on speaker. is there a fix for this?
I have this issue but thought it was just me. Everyone I call on speakerphone tells me there is an echo.
Is there a fix for it?

Echo on Speakerphone? YEP!
I tried 4 calls using speakerphone. 3 of them informed me of the echo without asking.
The last one i asked prior to hanging up and she said she didn't hear it, Hopefully we'll get an update. We need others to test this out.
Voice enhancement shuts off on speaker phone. I don't use speaker phone so I don't know what to say
same here, everyone says they hear the echo
I just Googled "LG G3" speakerphone echo" and found this thread. Im on Verizon and its happening to me too.
Maybe its the cases that we are using. I cant test it until later. I'm at work so I'm not taking it out of the case. There isn't anywhere soft for it to land right now, lol. I have a Bodyglove case (with that hideous plastic screen cover that i'm planning on cutting out after putting tempered glass on the front).
Some info here and here.
I don't have a case so I don't think that is the problem. Maybe this is a software issue?

I have called a lot of people and no call echo.
Still have echo without case...
I have the echo as well. I have it in a case.
I also get the echo and no case. It's so bad on hangouts, video calling is useless.

BAD ASS G3
I'd like to say that the last 3 or 4 phone I've had, have had this issue. M7, Nexus 5, Moto x have all had this issue.

Well then that would be a network issue if different phones had same issue
BAD ASS G3
I get echo complaints as well.
If I use the voice note feature in Whatsapp and listen to my own recording it has a terrible echo as well. Can hardly understand myself. Whatsapp uses the speakerphone interface when recording and playing voice notes.
I also get an echo on speakerphone. I also have an issue where I can't hear a word people are saying without being on speakerphone and speakerphone is still ungodly quiet. I have been able to somewhat combat these by using in-ear headphones that have a built-in mic. I haven't tried using a Bluetooth headset yet, but I believe it may be the best fix.
Has anyone figured out how to fix this, know what's causing this or have a mod to do.
Been dealing with it for all of marshmallow.
Didn't notice it on lollipop Roms.

I just got two:
Samsung Galaxy S II - Titanium from T-mobile (SGH-T989)
Not rooted, etc...But stock, as they come from t-mobile.
Voice quality is pretty bad on those two units. I can hear the other party muffed. I thought they are on speakerphone or talking thru a headset. Then the person with the other S G II noticed the same issue. I am having hard time understanding the other party in every call. I really got to focus on the conversation
Low voice volume when rocker is on max. It is hard to hear people in street noisy environment.
I talked to T-mo rep and they said that probably the phone is like this, and suggested to go to t-mo store and try one of their units. I wonder if it's the entire batch or the phones are like this.
I am coming from Google Nexus One. I wonder if Ice Cream will solve this issue or cyanogen mod 9. Is it hardware or software issue? Anyone else with similar thoughts?
Honestly, coming from a Sensation, this phone has incredible sound quality and speaker volume.
I think you should warranty both handsets.
I came from the MyTouch 4G... And the SGS2 has such better sound quality than I had with my MyTouch, and I liked the MyTouch... I think you got a bad phone... Two bad phones, if that's possible... Haha
I have the same problem. Sounds like crap. I returned my first one after about 2 days. Got another one and it worked fine for a month or so, yhen the same thing happened. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do now. I can't Stand it.

Yeah i have notice as well
i've been using it for 2+ month now, it's loud and clear
you guys must have got some duds
the other day another user asked me about the Mic, and after using compressed air to clear it out, is fine now
if you put the phone in your pants or jacket pockets often it might be stuffed

Thank you for your input.
I have no problem with my mic. The other party has no problem either, since I talk to different people, and I still have the same result. I have problem with the speaker, or the sound chip. The phones are brand new so no lint/dust in the speaker, or the mic.
I think Samsung does some changes with every different batch. This one is probably just like this. Nothing can be done. The series I am talking is: Samsung Galaxy S II – Titanium for T-Mobile, manufactured in December 2011 (no headphones in the box).
I am sure a lot of other SG2 s are fine.
The volume is on max, when I call someone (before the other party answers) ringing in the speaker is not clear or crisp, since the volume is on max.
I talked to Samsung today 12/21 and they have not hear of the issue. I talked to t-mobile on 12/20 and they have no solution either.
I guess it’s going on craigslist. Probably this will be normal voice quality for other users, and I will downgrade to Nexus S (hardware wise) until some other nexus appears at the end of the next year.

That's what it is. Talk on my phone you'll clearly see the difference. My old Sensation had horrible call quality until I ran the volume + app but then my battery started dying quickly
So I got rid of it & haven't looked back since.
This is someone coming from an unlocked iphone 4 in white (best call quality besides the Galaxy S2)
My GS2 is so clear and loud I never have to worry about hearing other callers no matter where I am. Take both phones back and have the reps at the store exchange them for you.
If they give you grief, have them make calls from your 2 handsets. Make sure they grab a demo phone to compare yours to
same
I have the same exact issue. Just got my phone a few days ago, enjoying Pandora in the car with the AUX input jack...
A call comes in, I answer, and I can't heard a damn thing! I make sure the In Call volume is set to max, still can barely hear the caller. I turn up my stereo...finish the call...then BAM! Pandora is blasting my ears off!
Incredibly frustrating!
sharko, wondering if you were able to get this resolved via exchange...?

I'm not sure if this is just a Sprint Galaxy Nexus bug, but I'm curious to see if its a universal Galaxy nexus bug... Let me know your results!
I explain the bug here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfeyLN7pWRA&list=PLB9F7946C16BE343B&index=19&feature=plpp_video
Happens on my i9250 model. Can only hear it if I literally press the phone speaker to my ear.
Never use touch sounds though.
Is there a bug report in that we can star?
I swear you guys will whine about anything...is it really that serious?

Wait, you're saying that the device should not activate the speaker when a command is initiated which involves a sound output???
I can agree that it should turn the speaker off quicker, after the sound is played...Or the sound file which involves the "click" hasn't been trimmed down properly.Sounds like there's always about a second or 2 leeway before the speaker is turned off, this goes for every sound...
I would assume this is normal
Just tried this on IMM76K on a Verizon GNexus and didn't hear a thing.
GSM from Play Store
I have this issue and im using the AOKP M5 ROM with their stock Kernel
This is not a big deal.
BUT I am on AOKP and there is no touch sounds at all even with all volumes on.
That's ridiculous, even more so you have a video for it. Wow.
They all do this. There are many threads on this. Just search them.
I actually like this little audio feedback. You can only hear it in very quiet surroundings and since it has a menu setting ("touch sounds"): it's not a bug, it's a feature.
Ok, now you're just nitpicking.
Annoying.

Yeah have this issue with my unlocked Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play Store...No worries tho it is not that big of a deal to me.
Hi there, anyone experience voice distortion during calls? For example like, when you are answering to the call and the other party talks, there will be a sound for a split second. Means like when the other party speaks, there will be like 'H####llo, how are you. ' Example of a conversation.
On my Lumia, no, but I can tell you that I have had a couple customers return their Lumias' to me for voice distortion. I exchanged their phones and it seemed to solve the problem...

no such issues... but sometimes its the network...
Not the network, Changed back to my L800 for one week no problems with calls.
The L800 feels better in the hand as well.
I have (extensively) tested 2 different, brand new, Note II phones (Rogers and Bell) and when the volume is set louder than 1/2 on voice calls they both return somewhat distorted sound due to the speaker itself vibrating, crackling, especially at high pitch or low frequency sounds/voices. The closest comparison - although grossly exaggerated - would be much like a busted speaker (broken membrane), or more like the membrane touching the frame when the sound is too loud. It's not continuous but it rather comes and goes depending on the voice modulation and loudness, and although one may normally overlook it, it gets quite noticeable (and annoying) when paying attention.
On the other hand the very same phones perform exceptionally well when playing any other kinds of sounds (not calls) - YouTube music or voice, Music Player, Pod-casts, Radio, etc - they are all fine, more than fine actually.
Anybody else has noticed that?
P.S. Please don't make comments like "I don't use loudspeaker on calls", or anything alike, I didn't start this for statistical purposes, but rather to figure out whether I bumped into some isolated cases or it's a rather common issue on our Note 2.

I already wrote a post about this. Don't think there's anything wrong with the phones speaker because when playing music, youtube etc..., at the highest volume, there is not crackling happening. I think It has to do with the cellular reception and how the signal gets converted to the speaker. The way the phone handles the calls. Hope a software update can fix this.

That's exactly what I was thinking and, otherwise the reason behind testing myself 2 different Note II on two different networks. The only reason this still bothers me is because I came from an S3 and I was using it the same way, yet NEVER experienced this. On the other hand I know that for marketing purposes Samsung "pushed" the loudness of the loudspeaker on the Note II and while they may have had strict control in digital conversion of the sound files played through various apps, there wasn't much they could do/control about voice (due to multiple network variables).
I have not noticed this on a voice call, however on some games like Angry Birds Star Wars it does this when the volume is all the way up. Glad I am not the only one to notice this. I have the Verizon version of the Note 2. Mine also does not crackle during music play back. Guess its something we are going to have to live with. I even popped the back of the phone off to see if it helped and it did not. IMHO its sad considering how much the device cost. I paid outright for it.
I also hear this anomaly.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
One would think with the size of this phone that it would have a nice size speaker that could handle it all without issue.
i had 3 note 2 ..i had to switch them out for various reasons..but all 3 including my current note 2 has the same call problem using the loud speaker..but again music and everything else comes out perfectly fine..just on calls only..so guess its normal and we cant do anything about it..
I also went through 2 Note 2's for this reason and have the same speaker issue. I have friends on Tmobile with same issue as well.

This is odd..... I have never had any problem with voice calls on speaker. Whats really weird is I came from the SGS2 Skyrocket and it had this very same problem, only voice calls on speaker . I was happy when using the Note2 because I no longer had this issue. Maybe it is hardware related, not the speaker but a chip or something
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Yes, having the same issue here. Went from hunting down Volume + for my G-Nexus to looking for a way to throttle the volume on my Note2's external speaker .
Its like Samsung got tired of people complaing about low volume on some devices so they went the complete other direction and over powered the external speaker.
Sent from my SGH-I317 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
I don't really use speakerphone so... j/k yea I've had that problem, work with Samsung phones all day, and it does seem to be a consistent issue. I'm not familiar with Canadian carriers are those both gsm or is there any cdma in there? I know gsm has weaknesses when it comes to the digital to analog conversion & back.. your voice is converted to digital for backend transmission and back to analog on the other end. Maybe the note has some weakness in this area. It would be interesting to hear anyone's experience with a cdma note though.

I'm not sure guys my mic was actually being covered up by sand. I went to the beach and dropped the phone I had to take mine apart and clean it. Which thankfully when great
I'm having the same issue. I have a support call with Tier2 tomorrow, but if this isn't resolved I can either try the root and disabling noise cancellation hack, or sell this device.
This is a major issue as I use Skype calls a lot. If the person I'm talking to can't hear me, then it's worthless.
Otherwise I really like this phone. I switched over to an Axon 7 (that handles the Skype calls just fine), and while it does have some good points such as the screen and speakers, the OnePlus 3 really is the overall better phone with much better software. But something simply like microphone gain is so basic I am surprised that OnePlus has such a problem after multiple software updates.
