Does your Galaxy Nexus have this bug? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm not sure if this is just a Sprint Galaxy Nexus bug, but I'm curious to see if its a universal Galaxy nexus bug... Let me know your results!
I explain the bug here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfeyLN7pWRA&list=PLB9F7946C16BE343B&index=19&feature=plpp_video

Happens on my i9250 model. Can only hear it if I literally press the phone speaker to my ear.
Never use touch sounds though.
Is there a bug report in that we can star?

I swear you guys will whine about anything...is it really that serious?

No way, not very serious at all actually. I say that in the video as well. Although your phone should not be doing this.

What an anal retentive worry... Who cares!? #firstworldproblems

Nope. I'm on IMM30B (Verizon). But if it is happening, it's so quiet I can't hear it (and it was right up to my ear).

Yes I have this. Sprint version.

Wait, you're saying that the device should not activate the speaker when a command is initiated which involves a sound output???
I can agree that it should turn the speaker off quicker, after the sound is played...Or the sound file which involves the "click" hasn't been trimmed down properly.Sounds like there's always about a second or 2 leeway before the speaker is turned off, this goes for every sound...
I would assume this is normal

Just tried this on IMM76K on a Verizon GNexus and didn't hear a thing.

GSM from Play Store
I have this issue and im using the AOKP M5 ROM with their stock Kernel

This is not a big deal.
BUT I am on AOKP and there is no touch sounds at all even with all volumes on.

That's ridiculous, even more so you have a video for it. Wow.

They all do this. There are many threads on this. Just search them.

I actually like this little audio feedback. You can only hear it in very quiet surroundings and since it has a menu setting ("touch sounds"): it's not a bug, it's a feature.

Ok, now you're just nitpicking.
Annoying.

Sorry for the way they treating you qb youze a legend in the et4g forums

Yeah have this issue with my unlocked Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play Store...No worries tho it is not that big of a deal to me.

iPhone users reactions to samsung's anti iPhone ads

Lol that's pretty funny, especially the comments.
I just traded my iPhone 4 (acquired for a month) for the E4GT too, with $20 bucks on top. I can say that while I do miss some stuff that the iPhone did, I'm more satisfied with the EG4T.
Only thing that I don't like about my EG4T is how long it takes to charge up lol.
LOL 9to5mac
That's like a Muslim preaching to a bunch of country bunk Christians in Alabama. Too much koolaid for them to open their caveman minds.

you have to admit, adding the battery specs for the e4gt while not mentioning the iphone's is pretty stupid considering everyone and their mom knows that the iphone destroys any android phone in battery life. they should've just left that bit out all together.

I agree that they should not have had battery life ONLY for their phone. Either have it for both or don't mention it. But I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Epic matched the 4s in battery. Not only is the 4s battery worse than the 4, the epic actually had good battery life according to the reviews.
But yeah, that's pretty dumb how they did that chart. They also didn't mention resolution of the screens. Only the size (which I do love).

It's probably just me not doing it properly through settings, but -
I like the sound/silent switch on the side. I would switch it to silent, and it'd silence everything...period. When I did it with the E4GT at work, some notification still rang even with sound off.
I also like that when you close YouTube and go back, it'd pick up where you left off in iOS5. While with the E4GT, it'd stop loading the video altogether if I were to go to the home screen or to read a txt msg. But I'm still new to this, so there may be ways around this.
Although, I DO like the fact that you can shut off the screen on the E4GT while the YouTube video is playing and just listen to the sounds. (I like to listen to videos...long ones, to help the work day go by)
I suppose that's about it lol... I mean, the iPhone4 was solid, and it was very smooth. But meh, so is my E4GT.

I have no problem with silent mode being silent...but...youtube resume is such a tiny little feature to implement but so god-damned awesome sounding. Why hasn't Google taken care of this? I mean, srsly, with all of the major heavy duty **** they take care of on a day-to-day basis why not this tiny little convenience?
It really does blow my mind how some manufacturers and major software developers (like Samsung and Google) can overlook such simple usability features. It's not like that feature is unique to youtube on iOS....it doesn't take more resources...it isn't complicated.

Yes this function on android is HORRIBLE! There are some pluses to having a million different sound controls. Like the ability to silence text messages at night, but leave phone on. But when I'm in the doctor office, or jury duty I want one button to silence EVERYTHING.
I can't remember exactly, but I think ginerbread is when they changed it to its current form.
Man, there are a whole lot of mads up in that comment section.

Gapless playback. I know that wasn't directed at me, but I just answered it anyways.
I traded my E4GT for an iPhone 4S. I needed that gapless playback because I work at a venue...Android just wasn't workin out that great.
I do kinda miss that E4GT battery life though... Apple lowballed iPhone users with the 5.x update(s). 5.0 was the best (battery wise) but we can't downgrade back to it...so we're all up the creek. This that bull****.

You traded the phone because of gapless? Poweramp does gapless.
I can see where some of you guys are going with this. Since the original Iphone not much has changed. Yeah, the body of the phone sorta changed, some internals and a new screen...but the design hasn't. One reason I never went to the Iphone was due to the fact that everything is propriatary...battery non removable, charging port isn't micro usb..instead it's apples propriatary charger and last but not least...Micro SD card expansion...can't do that on an Iphone. The screen size hasnt changed and facetime is only over wifi. I'm glad I went with the ET4G...it does everything and more than I though it would.

Well gapless + no lag + good stock apps + reliability + better 3G speeds + better music app + other things.
Edit: and these are just my opinions folks. I miss being able to tinker with things...but that tinkering was messing with my time for homework and **** >.<

I understand most your reasons but the 3g speeds you must be one of the few lucky ones. Did you get the Iphone 4s on Sprint or a different carrier? Because Iphone Sprint 3g speeds were getting a lot of flack from users all around the country. I saw speedtest screen-shots in many blogs and they averaged below 1kbp/s.

[Q] Call Quality on other end?

I searched before posting and noticed no one posted about this yet.
My friend and I both have TMOUS SGSII and other people notice that our voices sound horrible on the other end if we do not put our phones close to our faces (like if we're busy and were utilizing the speaker).
Using master&slave's Beastmod v4.2
I'm having the same issue. I always have people saying they can barely hear me. Or not hear me at all. N its not like the phone is that far from my mouth to begin with. I always have.to have the phone damn near inside my mouth so they can hear me. It gets annoying especially when. I say a bunch of stuff just so I can hear complete silence on the other end n then I say hello? U heard what I said? Then they say what? I didn't hear anything. I'm like wow! Anything at all? They say nope. Then for the rest of the conversation I think people on the other side of the street can hear my conversations Cuz I have to yell.lol

Callers say phone sounds like im in a tunnel

I just got two:
Samsung Galaxy S II - Titanium from T-mobile (SGH-T989)
Not rooted, etc...But stock, as they come from t-mobile.
Voice quality is pretty bad on those two units. I can hear the other party muffed. I thought they are on speakerphone or talking thru a headset. Then the person with the other S G II noticed the same issue. I am having hard time understanding the other party in every call. I really got to focus on the conversation
Low voice volume when rocker is on max. It is hard to hear people in street noisy environment.
I talked to T-mo rep and they said that probably the phone is like this, and suggested to go to t-mo store and try one of their units. I wonder if it's the entire batch or the phones are like this.
I am coming from Google Nexus One. I wonder if Ice Cream will solve this issue or cyanogen mod 9. Is it hardware or software issue? Anyone else with similar thoughts?
Honestly, coming from a Sensation, this phone has incredible sound quality and speaker volume.
I think you should warranty both handsets.
I came from the MyTouch 4G... And the SGS2 has such better sound quality than I had with my MyTouch, and I liked the MyTouch... I think you got a bad phone... Two bad phones, if that's possible... Haha
I have the same problem. Sounds like crap. I returned my first one after about 2 days. Got another one and it worked fine for a month or so, yhen the same thing happened. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do now. I can't Stand it.

Yeah i have notice as well
i've been using it for 2+ month now, it's loud and clear
you guys must have got some duds
the other day another user asked me about the Mic, and after using compressed air to clear it out, is fine now
if you put the phone in your pants or jacket pockets often it might be stuffed

Thank you for your input.
I have no problem with my mic. The other party has no problem either, since I talk to different people, and I still have the same result. I have problem with the speaker, or the sound chip. The phones are brand new so no lint/dust in the speaker, or the mic.
I think Samsung does some changes with every different batch. This one is probably just like this. Nothing can be done. The series I am talking is: Samsung Galaxy S II – Titanium for T-Mobile, manufactured in December 2011 (no headphones in the box).
I am sure a lot of other SG2 s are fine.
The volume is on max, when I call someone (before the other party answers) ringing in the speaker is not clear or crisp, since the volume is on max.
I talked to Samsung today 12/21 and they have not hear of the issue. I talked to t-mobile on 12/20 and they have no solution either.
I guess it’s going on craigslist. Probably this will be normal voice quality for other users, and I will downgrade to Nexus S (hardware wise) until some other nexus appears at the end of the next year.

That's what it is. Talk on my phone you'll clearly see the difference. My old Sensation had horrible call quality until I ran the volume + app but then my battery started dying quickly
So I got rid of it & haven't looked back since.
This is someone coming from an unlocked iphone 4 in white (best call quality besides the Galaxy S2)
My GS2 is so clear and loud I never have to worry about hearing other callers no matter where I am. Take both phones back and have the reps at the store exchange them for you.
If they give you grief, have them make calls from your 2 handsets. Make sure they grab a demo phone to compare yours to
same
I have the same exact issue. Just got my phone a few days ago, enjoying Pandora in the car with the AUX input jack...
A call comes in, I answer, and I can't heard a damn thing! I make sure the In Call volume is set to max, still can barely hear the caller. I turn up my stereo...finish the call...then BAM! Pandora is blasting my ears off!
Incredibly frustrating!
sharko, wondering if you were able to get this resolved via exchange...?

[Q] Getting Google Nexus phone for family member - any issues I need to be aware of?

Just a background info: I have a young family member that needs phone and I have bought her at first a "cheap" Android phone from Virgin Mobile and that was a disaster (slow, froze all the time, etc.). I replaced that with a supposedly powerful phone - Virgin Mobile Motorola Triumph. That is another disaster, as the phone was launched half-baked. If you Google this phone, there are issues from the phone ringing only once to running out of storage because the phone keep generating large alogxx files.
Anyways, she is getting tired with these issues (and so am I!!) and I want to get her a pure Google phone - the Nexus. But before I jump in and buy this, is there any issues with this phone that I need to be aware of? Keep in mind the issues I mentioned above, which made the using an Android phone really painful for her.
Thanks!
Pure Google =No Issues. It's kind of understood around here, not that I expect everyone who posts here to know that.
I would venture to say it's as good as it gets, the Galaxy S III has better specs, but a few issues and hey, you can't beat Pure Google, we'll be first to Android 4.2, whatever it's called.

nah, just don't go anal on the screen.
AMOLED screens get burn in from images that don't change over long periods of time (nav bar), but that's... eh no big deal otherwise Samsung wouldn't use AMOLED, also found in S III BTW...
You'll see a lot of threads about weird charging behavior, that's this phone's main issue. Every phone has its issues and this one is rather menial, not like a power button that tends to break...
I haven't updated my profile for the new GalNex....

The screen is an issue look at the sticky on the top of the Q&A section.
After updating to JB, the sound is ridiculously low. Volume+ is the solution for ICS but not working on JB. That is the main issue of this phone.
Don't want to put you off but I have had issues with the hardware. The USB port is dodgy and known to fail, with lots of strange charging behavior as already mentioned in this thread. Also they are prone to dieing and you have to plug it into a USB port with no battery to revive it. Maybe I was unlucky with early versions, or have they still not fixed it?

Not us...people who want to get one, they should hold off. It cant be worse than the current one...that would suck. (not saying its a bad phone...just saying that they new one shouldn't be worse than the old one) :fingers-crossed:
Aside from the screen burn-ins and discoloration in low brightness, the phone is actually fantastic.
Even the relatively outdated 5MP camera is actually pretty good. Although it has less MP, the quality of the sensor is actually great.
Also, just give your daughter the pure Google experience. It's almost flawless in terms of software (IMO), so it'll be a welcome change from her previous two phones. Just treat her well with the G'nex before she gets iPoisoned and we lose another poor soul to the dark side:crying:

EXACTLY!! She has been eyeing the iPhone 5!
But honestly, she was getting tired with the Android "experience", especially with the last 2 phones. The Motorola Triumph was $299 and it was piece of crap! This gives Android a bad name. This 3rd phone, the Nexus, HAVE to be the right one... seeing it's Google who sells them, not Virgin Mobile or some other carrier.

Uh oh... not nit-picking here but its must be pretty bad that flashing a custom ROM is needed to increase the volume size... Hmmm.. I wish the Nexus is sold in a retail store so I can try it out! I believe Google charges 15% restocking fee for returning a phone?
One person complains about volume, no need to call off the bets.
I admit I have to turn it up more than my Thunderbolt, but it's always loud enough without closing in on the right side of the volume bar.

[Q] Does your ZL make noise when it vibrates?

Mine came in today from Newegg. It's bootloader unlockable as well.
I love it.
The only minor inconvenience is that it vibrates at a high pitch.
It's definitely noticeable.
Also is there a way to tune the vibration? I already tried the keyboard settings but they don't help the sound.

ahh ok, hopefully there will be a way to mitigate this.
maybe a kernel that can control the vibration intensity.
Mine from Newegg also vibrates the same. I just disable it unless it's for calls or something.

My C6503 vibrates real loudly too! I found it weird at first but eventually got used to it. I hope there's a fix/mod to lower it's vibration strength in the future.
me too...it's normal
Don't think thete will be a fix. Even with vibration set to very low it's still very loud. I think it's a hardware issue.

Yeah, same here on my ZL (C6502). It is a minor niggle, however, when typing in a very quiet room (or library) I can clearly hear the bee like buzzing of vibrator motor (no matter how low the intensity is set at). But strangely it is not so when phone vibrates during an incoming call. So, I keep the vibration feedback off most times. Maybe some dev can come up with a mod to actually lower/tune the intensity or we might get used to it after a while.
P.S: Anyhow, I don't think its a flaw or hardware fault. Looks like sony wanted it to be so :silly:!
I just got my ZL today and mine also buzzes like a bee!
I highly doubt Sony wanted it this way, I think it was overlooked.....
It's really buggin' me though, I can't stand it!
Damn you Sony, I love the device but hate the buzzing.. Shame 'cause I usually use haptic feedback on my devices. lol
Yup it's a known "issue"
Il try to see if i can fix it... if i do il post the video and how did i fix that but later
Buzzinf]g like a bee
Mine too...brazilian version of ZL. Called ZQ (C6503). Very noise!
