Hey everyone,
All of a sudden this afternoon I was struggling to respond via Facebook messenger and pull down the notification shade and then all of a sudden the phone was doing whatever it wanted selecting things on its own and generally ignoring my commands.
I did a factory reset but the issues remain and after doing a restore via a kdz file it seems that again the issues remain.
It seems like I can use the touch screen but everything requires me to hold the on screen selection down for a few seconds to get it to respond...
It's been working fine up to this point and I don't have a clue what's gone wrong...

Yeah done that but still nothing, was in a dialler a minute ago and all number keys worked fine but then other keys wouldn't and now number keys need holding down again too...

If I press rapidly on buttons on the screen it will respond first time to app icons etc, for example if i rapidly press on the back button and then press on the app icons with another finger it works straight away.
Otherwise I have to hold on a button for a couple of seconds before the touch registers...

How long have you had the phone? What carrier? I would think you could contact the seller and let them know you need a replacement unit. You might even be able to bring it back to the carrier store if its branded by one of the US carriers.

I would contact the seller immediately and let him know the unit is defective. This is the first time I've heard of anything like this happening, I can't find another instance on the forums here.

Checked my phone after leaving it over night and its still not working although part of the touch screen seems more responsive now it's still definitely got issues.
Call Amazon support, explain the problem. They should send you a replacement for you to get tomorrow morning even before you sent yours to them. Happened to me in the past in the UK (with my Galaxy S3), I was impressed by their customer support. They even asked me if I wanted a refund or a replacement, and it was 8 or 9 months after I had bought it!
Please help: different strange behavior
Today while I was on the google now screen my phone stopped what it was doing, vibrated, and took 4-5 photos with the flash (at 11:45am). This same behavior happened yesterday also, though I'm not sure what time.
My phone is still unrooted, running the google now launcher (installed from a downloaded apk, but updated from play store) and all other apps directly from play store. I didn't have any apps running that had access to the camera, so I am nervous that something is wrong with the phone.
Anyone else seeing similar behavior? Thanks!!!
spoke to LG but they have to check my imdi number which they can't do till monday

I just bought a Nexus yesterday form somewhere else for $100 more. But is a legit seller, super fast shipping, and I'm impatient so that 3 week wait would almost be worth $100.
Either way, if this deal works out good for you. I was just paranoid and actually paid a bit more to buy from a reputable seller and have peace of mind.

I saw numerous recent reports from new egg stating that their "new phone" came with the seals broken, Chinese business cards loaded inside, finger prints, and reports of device tampering (setup program didn't launch, went straight to home screen)
Often on sites such as this, they sell at low prices because they acquire a large stock of cheap devices from an over seas distributor, and having some of the phones having been tampered with would lower the price for them significantly.
Let's hope the sale is legit, and maybe just an overstock of silver/white phones......

Boot into the bootloader by holding down both volume up and down and power.
Scroll to recovery using the volume keys and select recovery.
When you see the android laying on his back press volume up and power. You might have to do it a few times. Eventually, it will show a menu.
Then clear user data and reboot.
Let me know if that works. You will lose your data but your phone will be functional again.
If that doesn't work we can try another method.

I'm going to try to do this tonight most likely when I get home.
I'm hoping there is a way to access the internal memory without booting the device. Someone recommended adp connecting via the computer, and somehow accessing the internal flash memory.
I'm going to copy/paste a well written explanation that details what I've done, researched, ect. In case anyone else finds this thread and hopefully they'll find it useful..
I'm experiencing a similar issue with my international version unlocked gsm galaxy nexus. My device is still on the stock ROM, not rooted, and no modifications. It had been updated to the latest version of Android available for this device via an ota update. My carrier is Tmobile USA.
I got it a few weeks ago from daily steals.com unsubsidized, and had been experiencing intermittent and random restarts of the device. This started about four days after getting the device, and would happen 3-4 times a week, sometimes multiple times per hour.
I researched online and found that random restarts were a common issue with galaxy nexus devices, especially gsm versions, and that at the time there were no known solutions to fix this issue besides factory resetting. Some users claimed after a hard reset, the device continued to randomly reboot. Others noticed the reboot issue stop upon the reset, but only to manifest itself again over time.
After about a week or two of this intermittent reboot issue, the phone seemed to have stopped restarting, or at least if it was, I wasn't noticing it (i.e. It was in my pocket, or I was sleeping).
Now, after it performing perfectly (as far as I know) for about a week, I thought it might have been a fluke, and that uninstalling some programs and updating others solved the issue, and it was just a software conflict.
Unfortunately for me, I was wrong. This afternoon after unplugging my phone from the wall and turning it on, it begun to boot loop. The previous night, I had let the device's battery completely drain to the point where the phone shut off.
Now it's not even staying on for more than 10 seconds at a time before restarting. If I can manage to click into an app before it restarts, it loads up fine, then it freezes, and I hear a Pop sound from the device and it restarts.
I haven't tried hard resetting the device yet, as I'm hoping there's a way to recover some of my data on the device first.
I did however somehow manage to boot it into safe mode once accidentally, which didn't do much as it still rebooted within ten seconds.
Some possible explanations that I've read across the internet include
1) general Android OS error
2) issue with wifi being turned on
3) possible issue with corrupted Sim card?
I've managed to turn off wifi in the few seconds the device was last on, but it still rebooted.
I removed my Sim card entirely and tried to boot as well, to no avail.
I've contacted Samsung USA, but they don't provide support for my device because it's the international version. They gave me a phone number for the UK Samsung support office, but I cannot dial it, as I believe it might be restricted on my phone plan, and I need to get a calling card.
I sent daily steals an email regarding this issue, but I'm not really expecting much from them.
Have many other people experienced the boot loop issue? I've seen a few incidents so far. Is it software? Hardware related?
Evidently people with custom roms are experiencing this issue as well, meaning it's a hardware issue, a software issue that certain roms share the same code, or a driver issue.
What's sad it's that my HD2 with Android hacked onto it still works fine, even after going through the washing machine full cycle while on with a fully charged battery...
Any thoughts/advice?
Thanks in advance for responding.

Ordered a GN from dailysteals on the 21st. It arrived at my door 8 days later. No issues with the brand new phone.
Ordered mine with the most recent sale. Received in about a week with the factory seal almost broken, but it was hanging on by just a little bit. The unit is brand new and no problems. Only thing was the adapter that dailysteals included for the charger did not fit the Samsung Euro wall charger. Luckily had another one.
Battery life has been fantastic so far. I took it out of the package turned it on and the battery lasted over 12 hours without a charge!
It is not a jakju unfortunately and I don't want to mess around with it. The Google Play store website shows it as a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Nexus too.
I bought my nexus when they had it on March 1st and I have no complaints. The phone came brand new in the box with the factory seal and has worked just fine since the day I got it. Even though I paid a little more then it is in I'm very happy with the purchase.

Hello, my Verizon One won't seem to charge. The other day I woke up, used my phone till it was at about 85%, then topped it off back to 100% before I left as I was going to be on the road most of the day. When I took it off the charger I noticed it was a bit warm, not excessively so but noticeable. A couple of minutes later (it had been off the charger) I noticed it was getting hotter. I restarted it hoping for the problem to sort itself out. Maybe 30 minutes later the battery had dipped to 25% and the phone was very warm. I started to get worried and turned it off. Hoping that would at least postpone the problem I put it aside and didn't mess with it. About another half hour later I picked up the phone to see if it had cooled off, only to find that it was even hotter! I got very worried and actually had to hold an ice cube to the back of the phone because I'd heard of bad things happening to overheating phones. That seemed to solve the problem and the battery seemed to have finally run out because it didn't heat up anymore. I got home and tried to charge it to no avail. The thing seems to be completely dead. I was running CM 11 but I hadn't messed with any processor settings. I thought it would be a software issue because of the beta version of CM but idk after it continued to overheat after it was shut down. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, if I should just send it to HTC support let me know. I've been reluctant to contact them since the phone is rooted and all...
I have heard to place the phone under a light with the charging cord hooked up. I know it sounds weird but people says it works. I have heard nothing but horror stories about cm11 and refuse to run that Rom. From issues that you describe to it breaking the lte radio and having to flash an ruu to get it working again. There are so many other Roms that are real good.

Before all this CM11 worked great. No lag and everything seemed to work fine minus a couple occasional glitches. Could it be the ROM as it continued to heat when turned off?
I've had the phone on the charger for about a day now, no sign of life. What will happen if I send it to HTC support?
Where did you get the phone? Most likely if from Verizon you can contact their customer support line, tell them it isn't charging and they'll send you a refurb. I just don't mention to them that the phone is rooted and they have always exchanged mine without issue.

There's no harm in calling Verizon tech support, telling them your problem and asking for a replacement device. The worst they can say is no. But then you'd have other options. I don't see them telling you no. I had an issue with a phone a got off Craigslist and they replaced it. I didn't tell them I wasn't the original owner but it was only a few months old and shouldn't matter anyway. They didn't even ask tho.

The exact same thing happened to me about a month ago and I have been terrified to send it in to HTC or use my Squaretrade replacement program for fear they would figure out it was rooted and send me back my broken device with a voided warranty.
Finally I took it into verizon yesterday and they are now sending me a new one in the mail.
I have to send them my broken one after I receive the new one and I'm afraid they might detect its rooted and charge me the $600 for the new device they sent me.
Anyone gone through something similar?

I bought my HTS One from Viva Mobil too, and it clearly was shipped by Verizon.
Three weeks ago, it stopped booting or charging. I walked into a local VZW store and they couldn't wake it either, so they couldn't see I had rooted the phone. They ordered a warranty replacement for me.
I doubt that they're going to bother to see what ROM is on the returned unit..

Just got back from the VZW store, they took it but said "if any software manipulation was detected" I would be charged $300 for the refurb phone. Better than $600 but I'm kinda worried.
I believe this is associated with running a non sense based rom on the phone. There was another guy who had his phone overheat and speakers blown when he was running AOSP, and I know the overheating thing happened to multiple people. I feel like for some reason it's too risky to run AOSP because of these horror stories so if I want an AOSP feel I'll just run a GPE rom with xposed to tweak it how I like. Never had bad luck since, and I predict I won't have any in the future since these roms are made for our hardware by HTC themselves.

Hi guys, I have a weird problem and I need your advice.
My brand new galaxy Note 3 Sm-N900T is having screen blackouts....
Its like after the screen timeout the screen goes off and then when I press the power button it doesn't go back on again.
Or if I turn the screen off it doesn't go back on again... the buttons are working the sounds are on, I can answer calls and everything but the screen is black.
If I play with it (pressing power or home buttons) for a while it comes back on. Sometimes the phone restarts (rarely, I think because i press power button).
I have tried everything from playing with settings to wiping the cache and resetting the phone few times.
It looks like its a software issue to me, or maybe sensor.. but i think that when power button is pressed the screen should turn on regardless of sensors.
I do have the custom S-Case but I had the issue even before I got that.
Now.. I have few choices :
1. Go to t-Mobile and get a replacement.. probably refurbished, not a fact that the problem will away because I heard of lots of people having this issue ...
I of course do not want to do that.. I have this phone for less than a month.
2. Wait for KitKat....
3. install some kind of custom rom and see if problem goes away.
If anyone can help, Id really appreciate it.
I would do an exchange.. you paid good money for it and a defect is a defect, I wouldn't depend on a 3rd party patch for this

sucks man.
I know on my htc onei have the purple camera problem but everything else was fine. they had to send me 2 replacements because the first one had a yellow screen and worse camera then mines.
Tmobile doesnt even check there replacement. Most of the time there phones that people traded in. And all they do with those is a power on check.
Now if you just got the phone and within the 14 exchange you can take it to the store and get a brand new one.
Had it for more than 2 weeks now.. since i was always playing with it i did not notice the problem .. (the screen was always on).
I called Samsung and Tmobile. I told tmobile that samsung said i have a defective phone. so Tmobile is sending me a "Like new" phone meaning that someone returned it within 14 days. I get to check it and if i dont like it i will just send them their phone back. and suddenly mine doesnt do the problem for 30 minutes lol.. maybe it got scared. Personally i think that KitKat would fix it.
Any force closes? I had this problem too untill I stopped using the crapy My Magazine bloatware, which was also sometimes force closing...
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
No, no force closes, but one time it was funny, a little bit of status bar appeared from the bottom and on top it was a little bit cutoff.... like someone slid the screen up few pixels.
And whatever was cut just came from the bottom. Its weird... for $700 phone it should be flawless... I hope they dont send me crap phone and i hope they dont send my phone to someone else.
How can i get rid of it to see if that was the problem?

I figured id try to reflash (not data reset, but reflash via Kies) so far so good no problem.
The whole thing looks like soft prob, not hard.
If it comes back Ill let you know. This could be a nice fix if works.
I'm in nyc, and my local store called the warrenty center and got me a brand new SGS2 one time. It still had all the blue plastic in the sim card and sd card slots, and plastic on the screen. So I'm know they can request it, just depends on your store if they are willing.

Well, I dont know what to think anymore... Looks like the problem persists but happens so rare that without the past I wouldnt notice it.
This makes me believe that with KitKat it will probably disappear. If soft changes cause this to go away or be less it means (to me) that the phone is not defective. New phone is still on the way, to bad I did not purchase it at local store... I did it online, so there is no one to yell at.
It will arrive on Feb 6th so I have plenty of time to test my phone, with some luck KitKat will roll out during this time and then I will be able to definitely see. And if new phone is cool I have the option of exchange anyway .
Thank you all for your help, keep posting, its an interesting issue.
:/
Phone went worse and worse everyday ... now the S-Pen "Air Command" doesnt pop up, several weird disfunctions...
Waiting for the replacement.
I recently sent my tablet in for repair, and they sent it back seemingly untouched. It came with a paper with my info on it, but under the section listing the issues and the repairs done, both were left blank.
To summarize my issue, it'll randomly freeze during use or idle (not usually idle though) and if I put any pressure on the top left corner of the screen. The freezing sometimes causes screen glitches and after a moment or two, it reboots.
So, What are my options for contacting ASUS and trying to get this fixed/replaced, and what can I tell them I've done to try and fix it that is within the realm of warranty. (Factory reset? Flashed a stock rom? )
Thank you on advance!

ASUS currently has my tablet for the 3rd time. All for the same issue (horrible flickering, screen turning off & on). The first two times they sent it back to me after performing a factory reset only, despite me telling them that I had done that numerous times.
After many many emails/chats/telephone calls I finally got them to agree to not send the device back to me without fixing the problem. I have recorded video of the problem which I e-mailed to them (not sure if that did any good or not).
Anyways, today I finally received word that they replaced the LCD panel and GPS module. My tablet will be shipped back to me today. My first RMA was in October. What a horrible mess this whole process has been.

If you don't mind me asking, who did you email?
From what I can tell all they did was pin a few stickers to my tablet and ship it right back. I'm not even sure they factory reset it. Lot of good it would have done.

Someone named Aaron L, but the emails all went through [email protected]. This is the number I called: 888-678-3688. Calling seemed to work better than e-mail.
Sadly my Note's home button no longer works and I'm not sure why. Yesterday I woke up to find that my home button stopped working. Mind you, it's never been dropped or anything. No water exposure, nothing at all. I called Samsung and asked them about it and they said I could send it in for repair except it would take approx 3 weeks and I don't want to be without a phone for that long. I printed out the shipping label they gave me and went about the day. I went out that night and it started working for maybe 3 - 4 hours. After that it stopped again. Anybody know what it may be? And if I took it into ATT do you think they'd swap it out for a new one if I tell them the circumstance? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I had an issue with my note 4 home button and I called AT&T to ask what I should do because I was worried it would turn into a problem. They shipped a replacement phone to me and I simply sent the old one back. My situation was a little different because my home button worked, but felt extremely clicky which I thought was normal until my wife got the same phone and I realized hers was not like that. I think my replacement phone is refurbished since the battery feels much tighter in the back, but I would much rather take my chances with that over using a defective home button that could stop working at any time.

Just call AT&T and have a warranty refurb shipped out.

I had an issue with my note 4 home button and I called AT&T to ask what I should do because I was worried it would turn into a problem. They shipped a replacement phone to me and I simply sent the old one back. No problem, Good luck. I am sure they will help you. Also come to think of it, couldn't the launcher you use also cause that? I would check your default action for home button in the application defaults and see what it is assigned to. Mine is apex launcher since that's what I currently use. Hope that helps.

Try a factory reset and see if that work? its a last resort anyways.

Sorry that it's been so long since I replied. I did try changing the launcher to the stock one from nova, and then to go launcher and that didn't help.
I went ahead and called the warranty department and talked to a lady and she tried to walk me through some things. I found out that ATT can remotely see you phone through this because she was describing where I was at and was talking to me about things I was doing, such as backing up my phone, going through sms, etc. She could also see what apps I updated and the times. I'm not too sure how I feel about them having that sort of access. I ended up factory resetting it and that didn't do anything for me so they said they'd send me a new one out.
A few days after I got a brand new note in the mail. Just the handset though, no s pen, battery, or back cover. I had to keep that from mine. I boxed the defective one back up a few days later and sent it back. Yesterday I got a text saying that ATT received the device and sent it off to their warranty center.
I think that about sums it up. They were pretty easy going about it so that was cool. I had a feeling it was going to be more of a hassle and it wasn't, so that's a big plus for them. I don't think there's much more to it. Everything was free of charge by the way. Thank you guys for your help, I really appreciate it.

That was basically my experience with them as well. Glad you got the replacement and the issue is resolved.
