Q - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I root my g3. Can i unroot (if can, how?)? When will be update over the OTA, can i update if i have root (then i lose root?)?
I know this is stupid for you, but.....

Someone? I read that some people have problem doing ota when phone was rooted

see the link in my signature

Do you know, after root can i do update over ota?

You will need to Un-Root then update, then Re-Root.

What will be if i do update (if that can be done) over ota with still i have root?

If you are rooted and install ota updates, you will loose your root access.

Your rom may also have a FOTA kill app which will stop OTA updates, so you may have to search the internet for them? Check in /system/app.

He needs to be s-off to delete system apps (so apps in /system/app), and i guess he is not.
But one could do it with adb:

Downgrade GSM Gnex to 4.0.2

Hello
Today i recieved the jellybean ota update. its not working. i searched for a while and found out that ill have to update it with something called cwm and this requires root, but i dont want to root my phone. so i thought it would be possible to downgrade my device but apparently this also requires root. I have an unlocked bootloader but is there no way to update/downgrade my device without using root?

cwm does not require root, just an unlocked bootloader.

Need help

I have root'ed and bump'ed my phone. If I unroot it through the supersu app can I just update the phone through OTA?
I don't care if twrp is gone, I just don't want to end up with a bootloop.

No, you have to get rid of the recovery also.
So, to update phone via OTA you have to flash stock firmware.

AFIK this is not a full firmware update.
It's a small incremental OTA update, it will fail to update a rooted firmware.

Correct, it won't update. Although I have twrp installed and not stock recovery so I don't know if that causes more issues. I didn't pull the stock recovery before flashing either so can't test with that.

So with the 6.2 update can it still be rooted? All the guides I have read are for 6.0 but nothing is said about 6.2
